"Although she’s been running Sipz Vegetarian Kitchen for 20 years, with a first location in the Clairemont area followed by another in North Park, owner Sylvia Le says that gearing up to open her newest Sipz outpost in downtown La Jolla feels like starting an entirely different business. Scheduled to debut Friday, April 17 at 4 p.m. with modern new design by MY Studio ID, the 2,000-square-foot Pearl Street eatery will launch with only takeout and delivery; its regular hours will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Her other Sipz locations have remained operation during the shutdown, and the latest branch features favorite dishes pulled from both menus, although La Jolla’s lineup will be exclusively vegan. Known for cooking a wide range of Asian cuisines, Le’s brother/co-owner is also developing new offerings that will be introduced here. Although times are uncertain, Le tells Eater that she’s still hoping to continue to grow the Sipz brand, sharing that the restaurant is looking to expand to Encinitas and Ocean Beach." - Candice Woo

• Food: (4/5) love all the vegan varieties! The buffalo “chicken” was the best! We had Thai fried rice with chicken, Pad thai with tofu, thai tea with almond milk. The spice isn’t too spicy but the lady told us and gave us extra hot chili sauce. A little less seasoned than usual pad thai but still good. • Location: (5/5) a nice vegan take out place near the beach area. • Staff: (5/5) the staff was terribly nice! They were friendly, gave us descriptions of the foods, we had good conversations with them.

So happy we found Sipz! Just thinking about the food is making me hungry. Not vegetarian, but enjoy trying different options. The flavors are on point, especially the General Tsao Double Delight and Drunken Noodles. Everything was cooked quickly and fresh. We we very full and had plenty of leftovers.

Really enjoyed this Sipz! The food tastes exactly the same as the Clairemont and North Park locations. I’ve been going to Sipz for a decade now and it is always amazing. This location is different because they have a coffee bar inside. The americano was ok. A great spot in La Jolla if you’re vegan and hungry! No complaints. The staff was also really friendly!

This place tastes amazing. The fake meat had some of the best texture and taste ever. My family got the shrimp and chicken and they were amazing. The service was also great! Everyone was so nice and we got great suggestions on what to eat. It’s an amazing little place with great dinner and dessert. You should definitely go here!

Amazing vegan food! Today I had the crab ragoon and the crispy rolls and they were incredibly delicious!! The cashier was super friendly. Last time I had the wonton soup and the veggie broth was just perfect. Definitely one of the best vegan spots in SD! I'll be coming back again soon :)

Delicious food!! We had the orange chicken (tofu) and Buffalo chicken (tofu so it was gf). The Tom Kha soup was also incredible and was delivered hot! Also ordered spring rolls and peanut sauce and two sides of rice. They were able to make everything we ordered gluten free. 100% vegan/vegetarian and they do it well!! Will order from here again.

This place is delicious and vegan. The crab rangoon is soo good. I also like the buffalo chicken (better the day after) & the drunken noodles are amazing. They deliver (Uber eats) and it’s always quick, consistent & delicious. Make sure you order from the right one if you are picking it up.

The curry was definitely one of the worst curries I had. There was almost no curry flavor to it. Looked all pale and way too creamy
