Santa Monica’s Georgian Hotel Is a Glittering Ode to Coastal Living | Eater LA

"Sitting steps from the ocean on a bougainvillea-shaded terrace, Sirena offers an Italian-inflected menu where the ocean breezes pair well with crudo starters and pastry chef Thessa Diadem’s piping-hot focaccia before moving into plates like linguine vongole, bucatini all’amatriciana, and garganelli lamb ragu—followed, if you can, by as many desserts as possible." - Farley Elliott

Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food! Next time I would get the truffle ravioli. Artichokes were delicious as well! Try to come at sunset as it is a beautiful view

Google
Long Beach, was my first time there, and it was an absolute blast! I had lunch at Sirena, and the food was incredible. Our server, Milicia, was amazing and made the whole experience even better. The service was top-notch, the location was perfect, and the food was just delicious. I’ll definitely be back!

Laura W.

Google
This is a beautiful restaurant with oceanfront views. You can see the waves crashing onto the beach from the dining room. The vibes were wonderful and it was a great place for a romantic dinner for my wife and I to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our food was amazing. We both got steak and were able to ask for a customization such as things that we didn’t want put on it since we’re a little bit of picky eaters. This weight staff was so amazing. They were super nice and patient with us and we can’t wait to go back.

Google
4.67/5 Sirena's is a reliable place to eat out with work friends. Service was a little slow considering we showed up back when it was off season, but we still had a great time and the food was excellent. No complaints from anyone at the table. Appreciate the fact that they were able to add grilled chicken to my pizza since I recognize it isn't a standard request.

Google
Located at Pier Village, Sirena is an excellent choice. Reservations are only for indoor dining. Outdoor seating is first come first serve. Menu has various plates and cocktails that were different, which I appreciated. Appetizer, whipped ricotta which was delicious and dinner was veal plate accompanied by mash potatoes was tasty. Definitely will return.

Google
Had a great dinner with my wife. The food was definitely excellent. The location overlooking the beach was awesome too. Service and staff were good. Felt like they could have been a little more attentive.

Google
I'm leaving 3 stars because of our service. We've been there 2 times prior (left Google review with my other account) and the two times we were there, we had nothing but great service with our waitresses. Yesterday we went to celebrate my wife's birthday lunch and we were a party of 9 people. We sat down (6 of us first) and looking over the menu, plus waiting for the other 3, it was about 10 minutes in, the waiter came over and told us that we needed to hurry up because there was another party coming in. It was about 2:45 and the place was not crowded - plenty of other empty tables around and when he said that, we felt the other party that was to come after us was more important than us. We felt disrespected and rushed. I would understand if we finished eating and just sitting around and the place was crowded, but we didn't even order yet and he had to say that to us. Didn't order appetizers and was planning to order 2 more dishes for take out, but with what he said and how we interpreted it, we didn't want to stay much longer. It's a shame, because the two times we went before we had wonderful experience, but because of this waiter, don't think we'll end up going back... at least anytime soon.

Google
We had dinner here twice during our short trip to Long Branch, because our first experience was so wonderful. The first day, we were seated outside, but within 10-15 min the storm clouds rolled in, and to our surprise they were able to seat us inside right away despite it being a busy weekend. Our servers during both experience were fantastic and made us feel so warm and welcomed. To top it off, the food was also delicious. Thank you Sirena for making our experience at Long Branch so wonderful! We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Long Branch!

Patricia W.

Yelp
My Husband had the chicken parmigiano, it is amazing. I ordered the Marechiara with black homemade spagetti. The seafood in this dish was awesome. Always a good meal when we come here. A bit pricey..... no pasta comes with the chick parm. We ordered a side of pasta marinara to go with it - $15 and the chicken was $36 for just the chicken - total $51 for chicken parm.

Yelp
We went for Sunday happy hour and got the mussels, Caesar salad, orecchiette, and meatballs. All were delicious! And we got the Clementina and house red, the mocktail was yummy. You could taste all the ingredients especially the peach nectar! Service was good and our bartender gave good tips throughout the experience. Ambiance was good too!
google avatar

Yelp
Best bolognese I ever had. But today I also tried the cavatelle with lamb and Ricotta, which was perfectly blended. Not too lamb-y, the ricotta was properly portioned, the cavatelle was cooked perfectly to be tender and hold up to the softness of rest of the dish. This was a treat.

Yelp
Went to Long Branch on a day trip, and went to Sirena for lunch. Such a nice classy place overlooking the beach. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share 1. Pizza was great! 2. Pasta: this was the Sunday special. Came with lots of meat. The sausage was phenomenal, the short rib was tender! Such a good hearty dish 3. Mussels: this was also pretty good. Must eat with bread. Loved the spicy sausage with it for some kick 4. Salad: pretty good, though the dressing tasted a bit off hmm could have been better 5. Bread pudding: omg this was so good. Banana bread pudding. Yum Overall, the food at Sirena was pretty good! Would honestly say even better than other places in Manhattan! Also so much more worth it and great value for money. Would definitely come back! Giving it 5 stars since honestly this place surprised me. Not out of this world this is so different, but so good in a classic timeless way.

Yelp
We started with the Peach Burrata which was layered with basil , tomato , peach , and sauce and mozzarella on crostini. We would give this appetizer alone 5 stars. I got the Bronzino that came with a tomato , cucumber salad. Both were delicious. I had the spaghetti marinara with the to accompany the fish it was good. My sister got the chicken Parmesan and it also she said very good. Our dessert was gelato I got the vanilla and pistachio, my sister got the pistachio and cappuccino all were yummy. Our server was excellent, Raul, he was helpful and very efficient and attentive. We ate outside looking out at the water and the clouds that were pink in the blue sky.

Paul P.

Yelp
Service was horrible. On a slow night. No excuse. Had to ask for bread. Then waiter dropped it on our table. Then we had to ask for butter or olive oil. Food was mediocre at best but the service ruined the night.

Chris G.

Yelp
Server insulted my $20 tip on a $115 bill. My friend and I were there for like 45 minutes only and he just got one drink. Your poverty is not my problem. Never going back here again not even to use the restroom.

Yelp
Usually the food is good but there are some dishes that lack love. Saddened to see this low-effort dish on Sirena's menu. So much can be done here with properly trained staff. These so-called Tuscan Potatoes are an abomination. The potatoes are clearly soaked/deep fried (most likely in canola or seed oil), until unrecognizable with salt, parsley and cheese thrown on them. Nothing about them resembles Tuscany. The result is a burned-oil flavored, and greasy potato. You guys can do better.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Over priced and under seasoned. Risotto looked like it was slapped on the plate with about 5 small rock shrimp, no vegetables, no garnish, extremely bland. $40 Chicken Parmesan was very dry and again with no sides. Added a $16 side of spaghetti. Added two "kids meals", one penne with butter and one chicken tenders with fries. Almost inedible. Fries hard as sticks, chicken tenders extremely dry, past very overcooked. $17 dollars each "kids meal". The skill of the kitchen staff does not match what they're charging for their dishes. Definitely would not recommend.

Giseli C.

Yelp
The view from the restaurant is spectacular, the food was very good and served fast , however it was cold and the hostess as well as the waiter sounded a bit rushed . I also thought it was very pricy for two meals without any alcoholic beverages.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Terrible pizza. Lovely, lovely restaurant but sadly the pizza is horrible. We have tried it three times because it's such a gorgeous spot. The dough is so over processed is like a tough, untearable piece of cardboard. So sad. They really should address this.

Rhoda M.

Yelp
We were reluctant to eat here given their Yelp score, but gotta admit the food was absolutely delicious, the cocktails were great, and the view is amazing from every seat (unless your chair faces away from the water). We found the servers very inexperienced (service was a challenge every which way) but we'd still happily return for the chef and view.
google avatar

Micah M.

Yelp
I've been here several times. I've determined that I will only return for drinks. The first time I visited, I had a full meal including appetizers; none of it was good. The atmosphere is quiet enough for a date and the ocean view is captivating. All waitstaff I encountered today and on other occasions was fine.
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
Sirena is always a great time. So delicious and fresh. My review is from August and today. In August I got the frito misto and the orreciete, both were delicious. The service is always fast and accommodating. I appreciated the bread at the beginning of the meal and they leave a jar of water on the table which is nice because I drink a lot of water. I love coming here any time of year because it is right on the water. In the water especially it is so nice to watch it snow while you eat. Overall, I always have a nice time at Sirena
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner. I only got an entree of pappardelle with bolognese sauce. This was a very good pasta. Pasta made fresh and the sauce with the different meets. Two things besides the food is the view of the ocean. It's right there and the fireplace, it was a cold night and kept ya warm. The service was excellent and she was the one who recommended the dish.
google avatar

Idania D.

Yelp
We hadn't been back to Sirena in a while- glad we came back. Although it wasn't the prettiest of days, our late, lazy lunch was on point. The view of the ocean was still relaxing as was the ambiance. Appetizers Eggplant Burrata Entrees Orrechiette Bolognese Risotto w Rock shrimp Dessert Cold Zabaglione Overall, a nice meal and atmosphere.

Adam J.

Yelp
I thought the ravioli and pappardelle were awesome. Great lychee martini as well. Nice view

Florence S.

Yelp
Tyler and Jenna made the dinner extra special. This is our first time here. The food is amazing. The view is amazing. The Chicken Parmesan was so tender and delicious as was the pasta. The first course Caesar Salad had 2 big slices of cheese on top! The prices are very reasonable. Thanks again Tyler and Jenna!
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
Ordered takeouts during my stay, the food was average but pricey. In particular there is was a pasta with rock shrimp that I loved and ordered again this time, but it didn't appeared to have any big pieces of shrimp as shown on their online pictures,. Kind of disappointed
google avatar

Sam C.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful and the ocean views are amazing. The service was very good and attentive. We sat at the bar before our dinner reservations and we were treated very well. The food was good. I had the salmon which was delicious but not the best.
google avatar

Leticia G.

Yelp
Get the pollo scarpariello. This chicken will melt in your mouth. The seasoning and broth were on point. Our server Augustine was very good. Attentive and friendly. This place gives you a very romantic ambiance and that's why my husband chose it for our anniversary dinner. I'm happy he did.
google avatar

Jill R.

Yelp
We all enjoyed our meal, plus a nice bottle of wine. The fig pizza, ricotta, and other apps were very good. ( the ricotta definitely was a huge hit!) pasta bolognese and other entrees were very enjoyable. We enjoyed dessert as well. We will come by again when we can.
google avatar

Florina K.

Yelp
While the margarita pizza, calamari and Caesar salad were absolutely delish, the loud music and tiny booths in the bar area definitely made me take one star off. The wait staff were very friendly and were very attentive in terms of changing plates and packing leftovers which a lot of other restaurants do not. This place is a bit pricey but the food was worth it. Pleasant ambiance if you sit outside or in the main dining room.

Alexis J.

Yelp
The Food was absolutely delicious, great view of the ocean and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Puja D.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday during their happy hour! We got the marinated olives - which were decent but I would skip next time around. The pizza was 10$ and was SO good! Not picture was the orchiette pasta which was pasta, broccoli rabe, garlic/olive oil and sausage and by far incredible - added a little salt and red pepper flakes and chefs kiss I was addicted. Happy hour deals were super affordable! The food from the special menu was all $10 and drinks ranged from $8-10! We got the sangria, they gave a generous amount and it was strong. Would definitely stop by again on a Sunday.
google avatar

Anne S.

Yelp
A memorable dining experience. Great Italian food plated beautifully. Very attentive wait staff. Oceanfront establishment with most tables with ocean views. Parking is challenging.
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
We've been here several times and even had my fathers repass there, and I've come to the realization that I've been really severely overpaying for the actual quality of the food and service. Beautiful place with a great view, but every single dish is mediocre at best and probably priced twice as much as other local options. They might not have the same view but at least you'll get quality food at a reasonable price. Furthermore you won't leave feeling upset or as if you've been taken advantage of.
google avatar

Krystal B.

Yelp
Food, Service, & Ambiance was great! This is a great spot for a date night or a special occasion. Right on the beach - you can't beat the views that this places gives you! The food is extremely fresh! My word of advice is to order the Gamberi & Polenta - you won't regret it! I would definitely return :)
google avatar

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Second dining experience with Sirena, I visited this weekend for Jersey Shore Restaurant Week. The food at Sirena is very well prepared. Service can be lackadaisical at times. The frito misto is wonderful as the is the spicy tomato sauce that accompanies it. My daughter raved about their pasta fagioli. The meatballs and mussel appetizers were executed flawlessly as was their Tiramisu. I don't think there is a bad choice on the menu. Drinks are pricing but include a heavy pour. The views from the dining room are absolutely dynamite.
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
The ambiance was lovely. So nice to enjoy dinner while viewing the ocean. Calamari was delicious. Servers were attentive. Food was not great. I ordered the pasta special with soft shell crabs. It was cold so I did send it back to get it hotter. The pasta was thick and whatever sauce that was on it needed to be loosened up a bit. I really didn't care for it at all. Not sure I would return since there are lots of other options in Pier Village. And this place is pretty pricey
google avatar

Brandee M.

Yelp
Service and setting are great. Food was mediocre. Great menu - ok execution. You can definitely do better for the price.

Gary T.

Yelp
People at front desk, Very good, Food- I had the Halibut special, It was delicious, My wife had the Bolognese Which was fabulous, Service good Would definitely go back
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
This is the second time I've been to the restaurant and the second time I've been underwhelmed. The hostess didn't acknowledge us for well over an acceptable time and the waiter was a lost cause. The bartender is great. I've had no problems there. The food is what's lacking. Last time I had the meatballs and they weren't great. Today I tried the crispy brussel sprouts and the pasta fagioli. The brussel were burnt and there was no pasta in the PASTA fagioli. I was shocked that they really tried to pass off a bowl of beans, with a few pieces of spinach and one tiny piece of pancetta as this classic Italian soup. The only reason I gave them 2 stars. Is that the tiramisu was phenomenal. Long story short, if I ever find myself at this restaurant again, I will only be having drinks and dessert.
google avatar

Maya F.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous view and if you have money to spend, the food is pretty good. I had the ravioli which I would recommend. Desserts and cocktails were only okay. The service is definitely not what you come here for. I went with a group at an odd day/time and still we had to ask for things at the table and ask for empty dishes to be removed. The waiter was not trained in fine dining which for the prices, you would expect to him to be.
google avatar

Eduard B.

Yelp
Nice place, but needs work with the management. We visited this place during 4th of July week, food was great and service for except our diner was interrupted due to fire alarm and we were told that we have to leave, and we just got our main meal served. Waited outside for about 30 minutes and see it's not going anywhere, fire department still checking on something, so we left for a walk, after one hour I get a phone call with demanding voice, you have to come and pay for your dinner or we will call the police, and we're still not far from the restaurant walking on the boardwalk. We came back and asked us to pay full bill, whether we ate it or not finish, they didn't care. What would you do came back after an hour to finish your cold and unsanitary food that many people were going through it or at least offered apologies and offer a rain check to welcome you again in other times. Very upsetting,

Frank M.

Yelp
Very disappointed. The prices went up but the food and service went down. There were 6 of us celebrating my wife's birthday. We had to ask for refills of water and soda. The server, at best, was adequate. Three of us did not like the food. The Saltimbocca was barely edible. The veal was extremely thin and overcooked and the prosciutto was very salty. The Halibut was overdone and dry. The spaghetti had very little sauce and was just average. Paying $31.00 for a dish of spaghetti is obscene. The ultimate insult was that they added a 20% gratuity to our bill. We're generally good tippers and tip with cash for good service. However, if given the opportunity, they would have received much less. We were not notified of the 20% gratuity. We're done with Sirena. Stay away!

MV D.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance Good service Good food Tried few pastas and wine and strawberry margaritas

Charles K.

Yelp
No parking, no valet Table service slow over 20 min to get water. Halibut special and polpo appetizer were chewy and dry. A very mediocre meal.
google avatar

Bonnie M.

Yelp
We were very disappointed after eating at Sirena yesterday. Although the ambiance is beautiful, the food is way over-priced for what they give you. I ordered Chicken Parmesan and the waitress asked me if I wanted to order a side of spaghetti to go with it! For $36.00 they should not charge $5.00 extra for a small side of spaghetti. I had to ask for bread. It was served cold and there was no butter. When I asked for butter, the waitress brought enough butter for 1 slice of bread. I understand that prices have increased but this was ridiculous. To make matters worse, we ate outside and the table was a bit grimy. Such a shame! We used to eat there regularly. We will not be going back.
google avatar

Eleanor W.

Yelp
My husband and I were enjoying a beautiful day on the boardwalk at Pier Village. We stopped at Sirena for their happy hour, and I'm so glad we did!! Michael and Moysha were our very hospitable bartenders. Moysha made us white cosmopolitans with Grey Goose vodka. Delicious and refreshing! We then decided to split an order of orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe--the best I've had in a long time! Beautiful ocean view a plus. I intend to visit again and try more!
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
Dropped by during happy hour for a couple of cocktails and a quick bite. We were with another couple who chose the place. They are renting in the area. The place was crowded but service was very good. We sat at the bar. Drinks were ordered and they were prepared well. Three martinis and a draft beer. The bartender made a great gin martini for me exactly as I asked. We got a couple of orders of meatballs and a bar size pizza. They were each tasty and hit the spot. The place has great views of the sea. Mark.
google avatar

Bratwoman S.

Yelp
Horrible . Service, food and even drinks couldn't be done right. We spent over $1,000 for four adults and the waiter still was super slow. Not coming back
google avatar

Claudia B.

Yelp
This local restaurant is in Long Branch NJ off the boardwalk and beach. Great location for a day or a few days staycation. All the restaurants are busy because of location firstly, secondly the views of the ocean. Thirdly - the beachfront energy, the music and service just takes this restaurant to a whole new level. The food is delicious Generous portions Pasta is made just right! Be patient when making reservations It stays packed Walk the boardwalk while you wait. Enjoy!!!
google avatar

Marc W.

Yelp
I'll preface by saying this is one of my wife's favorite restaurants in the area, we've been going for years, and we travel about 40min. to eat there. Reservation was at 7:45 but the table wasn't ready until 8:05. Not a big deal except that the hostess was preoccupied upon our arrival and completely non-engaging. They only hold a table for 15min on a reservation so they should hold themselves to the same standard. The waiter seemed uninterested and only came to the table once to take the order, asked the obligatory "is everything ok", and then for the check when we indicated no dessert. The calamari was all fried crumbs of some vegetables and hardly any calamari; It was as if they emptied the fryer basket. My request for extra caper berries was initially ignored by the kitchen. Squid ink pasta was delicious and the pork chop was slightly over cooked. Steak was "really good" according to my wife. It just seemed like the staff was overall disengaged and the food quality has slipped a little. (Old Fashion at the bar was perfect). I'm tired of hearing people say "be thankful that the people who are working are even there." If a business is open they should show more pride around service and product. We will go back but I'm in no hurry.
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
It was a bit disappointing dinner. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good. For foods, I satisfied overally, but one of pasta was not cook enough. It was not aldate. Finally they switch other dishes. Because of thanksgiving night, service time was very slow. I started 5:30pm and I received my pasta dish at 7:00pm. I wish it would be a little faster.

Michelle S.

Yelp
I took one star off because the consistency of the burrata wasn't as creamy as a typical , however superb cocktails , great server Dan . I had the short rib , really great . Can't beat a beautiful view
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
How in the world this place only has 3 stars on Yelp shocks me. I have been here about 6 times and every single time the food has been amazing, staff/service professional and timely with an atmosphere that is absolutely breath taking and romantic. Compared to some of the other fine dining restaurants in the area I also think it's reasonably priced. My wife and I love the place so much that we actually had our wedding there this past weekend. It was a small low key wedding with 23 guests (more of a wedding luncheon really) and we booked the semi private room. We got a family style meal that included salads, pastas, calamari, fresh tomato/Mozzarella with our guests ordering specific entrees and dessert. Several people specifically said it was best Tiramisu they have ever had. No one in our party had been there before except us but literally everyone was raving about how awesome the food and drinks were. It was the topic of discussion at our tiki bar after party. Everyone loved it! The service was also great. I forget our head servers name but she was excellent, attentive and professional. If I could give them more then 5 stars I would. If you are visiting Pier Village for a meal definitely check them out!

Yelp
Not sure what is up with the negative reviews! I go here for the food and ambiance! It's going to be SUPER busy in summer! It's like that all up and down the Jersey coast! The views are fantastic! The food is even better! Meatball app?! Delicious! Salads all delicious! Cheese board? Omg that cream cheese looking cheese....out of this world! And last the bolognese. Have tried in at least 12 other places all over the world and nothing beats Sirena Bolognese. Hands down no comparison!

Jaime H.

Yelp
The place has a nice view but the service was slacking. Our waiter took our order then disappeared. The appetizers came before our wine. Everything took ages to get. The food was decent enough but so over priced. For the price you are paying, it should be effortless and perfect. The one time we called our waiter over, he was puzzled as to why we were calling him - it was for a second round of drinks. It was as if he could not be bothered. I would never go back again. So many other great places to spend your money on food.
