Sirkeci Mansion Hotel | Best places to stay in Istanbul | Bucket List Travels

"Overlooking the tall trees and flower-trimmed avenues of Gulhane Park, this traditional, affordable and charming hotel is ideal for a first visit to Istanbul – it’s within walking distance of nearly all of the city’s best-known sights. Set in a traditional Ottoman-style mansion (konak) filled with stylish local details, there’s a breakfast buffet with savoury Turkish pies and other authentic goodies as well as a lovely outdoor terrace for breakfasts and sundowners.   The owners are firm believers in responsible tourism and sustainability, and go out of their way to help you experience the best of the city. The hotel offers free activities every week – just for hotel guests – including Turkish cooking lessons, wine tastings, foodie tours and neighbourhood walking tours. There are special family-sized rooms, and kids are treated like royalty. A great-value, local-feeling place to stay.  " - Dana Facaros

The stay at this place was quite good. The beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly, and it was conveniently located within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants. My husband and I arranged airport transportation through the hotel, which provided us with a private van. Overall, the experience was just okay. The van was hot during our ride to the hotel, the windows didn’t open, and our driver made a questionable stop to drop off something for a friend before we arrived. However, it was convenient not to worry about transportation to and from the airport, which is why I rate it as just okay. As for breakfast, it was quite simple. If you’re looking for a light or quick meal, it’s satisfactory, but if you prefer something heartier or more exciting, I would recommend going out for breakfast.

Staying at Sirkeci Mansion for our three-night-long weekend mommy trip made our visit to Istanbul even more memorable. ||||We had a triple room which had enough space to move around comfortably even with our big suitcases. The beds were so comfortable, we always woke up fresh after a good night`s sleep, ready for another exciting day of exploration in Istanbul. One of us had a food intolerance, but the breakfast buffet had something for all of us to build energy for our sightseeing. ||||We always felt welcome and well- taken-care-of. Coming back to our hotel after a long day outside felt like coming back home and we loved the complimentary tea hour in the very pretty lobby of the hotel in the afternoons. It gave us a chance to unwind and plan our next day. The staff was really helpful with any questions we had or any reservations we needed. ||||We also took the Saturday tour of the hans and bazaars of Istanbul that is complimentary for the hotel guests and it was the one of the most moving experiences we had on our Istanbul trip. There are other local activities the hotel offers its guests, but unfortunately our stay wasn't long enough to cover these days. I guess, we will just have to come back! A biiiig thank you to the great team of Sirkeci Mansion for a beautiful stay!

The hotel is extremely well situated for Istanbul’s main attractions. However the walking tour by the hotel manager, Okay, was far more fascinating and inspiring. He took us to places off the tourist map, showing us a glimpse of local life, and taking tremendous care. A superb experience.|The staff in the hotel were charming and very helpful. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast abundant and delicious.

I would certainly stay here again if I were to return to Istanbul. The hotel is very conveniently located close to many of the major sites we wished to visit and we had a lovely room overlooking the park, so looked out onto greenery, tall trees and roses, with lots of beautiful birdsong. It was a peaceful haven after crowded places in the City! We were given lots of good restaurant recommendations by hotel staff as well as tips about what time was best for arrival at certain sites and how to used the trams and ferry. Breakfast was copious and delicious and our room was very clean. The highlight, however was the walking tours offered by the hotel manager, colloquially known as “ Mr OK”! He showed us places we wouldn’t normally have found - for example Turkish traders he knows working in their specialities in the Grand Bazar and gave us personal stories and well researched accounts of aspects of Turkish life ,culture and religion, The tours were really interesting and showed us aspects of life from a Turkish perspective. Original and delightful! Thank you so much.

The hotel is in a great location; our room was comfortable; breakfasts were plentiful and varied. But you already know that from previous reviews. I want to highlight the walking tours offered by the hotel, led by the amazing Mr Okay. We had already done 3 days of structured touring and had the "big picture" history lessons. Mr Okay's intimate, interpersonal perspective on life in Istanbul was the ideal complement. He introduced us to members of his personal and professional network (a 4th generation business in the gold/silver district, a Good Samaritan baklava maker, a big-personality pide chef). My only regret is that we missed the Wednesday tour. Next time I come to Istanbul (fingers crossed) I will organize my entire itinerary around Mr Okay's walks. Yes, they really are that good. Thank you Mr Okay.

I cannot recommend Sirkeci Mansion highly enough. From the moment I arrived with my two children, it was clear our stay would be special. Okay and his team welcomed us with genuine warmth, invited us to enjoy the breakfast buffet, and even got us into our room well before check-in. It’s the thoughtful details that truly set this hotel apart. We were personally shown to our room and encouraged to rest before getting oriented with the property and neighborhood. The staff made sure we had Istanbulkart transit passes, pointed out a reliable ATM, and when my daughter came down with a stomach bug, they brought bananas, Coke, and roasted chickpeas to help her recover—unprompted and from the heart. The location is excellent: a quiet corner just outside the busiest part of Sultanahmet. Yes, some neighboring shops are tourist-priced, but we found the food and products to be genuinely high quality and worth the convenience. Our room was spotlessly clean, the beds and pillows were very comfortable, and the small spa with sauna and plunge pool was a wonderful way to unwind. The service was outstanding throughout—we always felt cared for without being hovered over. We left feeling both rested and deeply appreciative. This is hospitality at its best and I look forward to staying here again on my next visit to Istanbul.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. My wife and I were searching for ages to find a hotel which was quiet, had nice amenities and close to everything. This literally ticks every box for a bed and breakfast stay in Istanbul. The staff are also very welcoming and helpful, which was a plus! Highly recommend. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and are exactly what you expect from the photographs. All in all we'd definitely stay here again if we visited.

They offer great cozy rooms in the city center, the reception staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is sumptuous and has good variety each day, they hold your bags safely if you need them to while you have checked out. the tram line is right outside the hotel which is very convenient .The 3 pm Turkish tea and bagels complementary to guests is a great touch which we did not encounter in any other hotel in Turkey. the complementary Turkish delights in the room are again a nice and rare touch of hospitality. Please stay here if you are planning to visit Istanbul.
