Sirkeci Mansion Hotel | Best places to stay in Istanbul | Bucket List Travels

"Overlooking the tall trees and flower-trimmed avenues of Gulhane Park, this traditional, affordable and charming hotel is ideal for a first visit to Istanbul – it’s within walking distance of nearly all of the city’s best-known sights. Set in a traditional Ottoman-style mansion (konak) filled with stylish local details, there’s a breakfast buffet with savoury Turkish pies and other authentic goodies as well as a lovely outdoor terrace for breakfasts and sundowners.   The owners are firm believers in responsible tourism and sustainability, and go out of their way to help you experience the best of the city. The hotel offers free activities every week – just for hotel guests – including Turkish cooking lessons, wine tastings, foodie tours and neighbourhood walking tours. There are special family-sized rooms, and kids are treated like royalty. A great-value, local-feeling place to stay.  " - Dana Facaros

It was the perfect hotel for our 6 day break in Istanbul, it was spotless, great value for money, and the staff were wonderful, they went over and above to help with everything and anything. The location is perfect, on a busy street (but not noisy) and overlooking the gardens of Topkapi palace and within walking distance to the blue mosque and hagia sophia although we caught the tram to these (with 81 yo Mother) but tram system is fantastic, the tram stop is a 2 minute walk from hotel and trams every couple of minutes, it's a great way to travel around, it was all fantastic and we loved Istanbul (the free afternoon tea in the hotel was a lovely bonus). I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

This is a central location in the “Old Town”– close to all the must-see sights in the Sultanahmet. We booked a beautiful and spacious room with a balcony on the 4th floor overlooking the Gulhane Park. Upstairs rooftop Terrace accessible – Great views and quiet at night. The Sirkeci is a welcoming, elegant, comfortable and well-maintained (if not updated) hotel. Expect calls to prayer from the Mosques starting early (around 7am when we were there). The stay included great and copious breakfasts which were appealing to westerners with some Turkish dishes. The food selection changed daily. The coffee is ok but not strong and espressos/cappuccinos are not offered. The hotel concierge and staff were professional, friendly, and always helpful. We took the “Taste of Life in the Golden Horn” walking tour led by hotel manager Mr. Alkan (a highlight of our 4-day stay) and highly recommend it. We thought it easily rivaled paid group tours in length and quality. Instead of visiting the major tourist sites, he takes you to less touristy locations (no crowds!), provides interesting historical facts, and explains the significance of places visited. He introduced us to local vendors (a Turkish pretzel” bakery and ice cream shop) a spice market, an important mosque and took us through different neighborhoods to get a feel for authentic local life. It was a unique, personalized experience that was quite memorable. We did not have time to take advantage of the pool, Turkish Bath or massage services offered on the basement floors. We did have tea and small sandwich snacks at 4 pm which gives you the opportunity to meet other guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the Sirkeci Mansion Hotel.

Terrific smaller hotel in a perfect location with views of the palace gardens. The level of service and attention to detail was outstanding. The hotel itself was very comfortable and beautifully finished right down to the coffered ceilings. They provided unlimited, free, and very cold bottled water! Okay Alkan, the hotel manger, made our stay incredibly welcoming and was very informative about a city that he clearly loves. He even went to the pharmacy for us when we needed something. Breakfasts were very good with plenty of variety and a little different every day. I highly recommend getting a room with a balcony. It’s just the right size for two people and we started and finished every day there overlooking the palace gardens and the ever changing activity on the street below. Also, I highly recommend doing the food tour and the cultural tour with Okay. He will show you how to differentiate between the real restaurants and the tourist restaurants. When we were departing, the entire staff came out on the porch to see us off!

What a gem of a hotel in the heart of old town Istanbul. Reasonably priced, very quiet, walking distance to all the main sights in Sultanahmet district, 30 second walk to the T1 tram, absolutely amazing breakfast buffet, and super friendly service. And we didn’t even use the pool, spa or roof terrace - maybe next time. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Sirkeci Mansion during our first trip to Istanbul and were not disappointed! The rooms are very clean and well stocked with clean towels, soaps, and waters. A small plate of Turkish delight was there for us as well! Unfortunately my husband and I each experienced food borne illnesses and the staff were so helpful with bringing us extra waters and bread, and suggesting places to find some bland items to eat. Also their suggestion of Pino Gare Rooftop as a first-night dinner spot was right on target for tired travelers! ||The breakfast offerings at Sirkeci are plentiful with breads, hot dishes, and many meats and cheeses, plus fruits and more. The staffer in charge was attentive and simply lovely. Really all the staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. ||The only downside to the hotel is that it is hard to drive to. It makes sense to have an airport pickup arranged by the hotel so the driver knows the route. Our good friend drove us and he is not from Istanbul so we saw many nearby streets repeatedly as we tried to get to the hotel! But isn’t travel always an adventure?||The hotel is super convenient to many tourist sites. Our room had a view of Gulhane Park which is lush and green this time of year. The tram is only a block away but most sites are walkable from the hotel. We would happily return to the Sirkeci Mansion Hotel!!

My wife and I recently spent ten days at Sirkeci Mansion in Istanbul, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel combines genuine Turkish hospitality with professional service, creating a welcoming and memorable stay.||||The rooms are comfortable, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed, offering both charm and modern convenience. The location is ideal, just a short walk from Istanbul’s major historical landmarks, yet peaceful enough to relax after a day of exploring.||||What truly sets Sirkeci Mansion apart are the tours personally led by the front desk/guest relations attendant Agah Okay Alkan. These experiences are superb. Insightful, well-organised, and full of authentic local perspective. Okay's knowledge and enthusiasm for Istanbul bring the city to life in a way that few guided tours can match.||||Every aspect of our stay reflected care and attention to detail, from the generous breakfast to the consistently professional and invaluable staff, including the cleaning lady.||||Sirkeci Mansion is more than just a place to stay; it's a unique experience. It's a unique experience. It’s an experience that captures the spirit of Istanbul. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking comfort, character, and a truly personal connection to the city.||||Sirkeci Mansion offers wonderful on-site facilities to unwind and recharge after exploring the city with an inviting indoor pool, traditional Turkish bath (Hammam), well-equipped gym, and soothing massage services. Whether you seek relaxation or a quick workout, it’s all just steps from the room.

We spent four nights here and we loved this hotel, particularly the staff who couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We took a walking tour with Okay which was fascinating - he is an excellent guide and took us to places we would never have seen on our own. The hamam and massage were also great. The Sirkeci is a haven of calm in a very crowded and very fascinating city. We would recommend it to friends and will definitely be staying here when we return to Istanbul!

I’m going to start with the amazing staff first. We traveled around the world and we mostly had a good experience of course sometimes a little glitch happens with your booking or a bit disappointed when pictures and descriptions don’t match, so we had them all. This hotel’s staff are on the top of our list. |Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly the way that they treat you, You feel at home. |Very cute old building, big and bright room looking towards the Gullhan park in the middle of the old part of the city. Walkable to every major historical landmarks. We enjoy are stay from the comfortable room, afternoon tea and snack and yummy breakfast. Can’t recommend this enough.
