Sissi

Booked a table a few months out for our stay in Merano. Initially we were disappointed in looking at the menu and not seeing a wine pairing, but we went with the 7-course "new" menu rather than the favorites menu and asked - they DO have a wine pairing specific for each dish available, and it's fantastic. They also asked if we had allergies or anything we didn't particularly like - one of us does not like the flavor of truffle and they gave us a different pasta dish, a level they didn't have to reach! The food was very good and contained local dishes with ideas we never really imagined. The margherita pizza shot was very unique, and a great way to start. The pasta dishes were great, but the eggplant filet was amazing and something we didn't know could be made with only vegetables. The celery ice cream dessert was the most unique. Great service and hospitality throughout, it felt like they welcomed us to their own dining room at their house.

It was a wonderful experience. The service was above and beyond, everything was perfectly timed, and the dishes were amazing. Thank you for an unforgettable meal.

We live in Dubai , but we are Italian 🇮🇹, and were on holiday in the enchanting region of Trentino-Alto Adige, where we had the pleasure of dining at Sissi, the Michelin-starred restaurant of Chef Andrea Fenoglio in Merano. Everything was truly exceptional: the flavors were refined and memorable, the courtesy of the staff impeccable, and above all the Chef’s mastery and savoir-faire shone through in every detail of the experience. An unforgettable evening in a magical setting — highly recommended. 5 stars. 🌟

A remarkable and memorable dining experience! A visit to Merano must include dinner at SISSI; the food was unique in presentation, and exceptional in taste. The ambience was relaxed and comfortable while the service was impeccable and cordial. I will not forget your exquisite lemon dessert! What an unexpected delight and trip to heaven! What we appreciated the most was the friendly regard and solicitousness of the chef/owner Andrea Fenoglio. His great sense of humour was the cherry on the cake! Thank you chef for making our dining experience an unforgettable one. We will be back!

There are very few dinning experiences I have had in my life that can compare with the experience we had at Sissi. We have been to a few Michelin Star restaurants on our travels throughout the years in Europe and while there have been some highlights, I have never had the experience where every single dish was exceptional and memorable but here at Sissi it absolutely was. Andrea and his staff will make you feel like you were invited over to his house for dinner. Throughout the night he would go from table to table speaking to his guests in English, Italian and German which is hard enough to do in one language. His staff were attentive and kind as they explained each dish we ordered as they came out. The staff clearly has a pride for what they were doing. None of this felt forced. Every single thing we had here was memorable and delicious and made with the utmost care and love. The environment of the restaurant was wonderful as it was able to find that nice space between modern and old world with its decor and ambiance. Depending on what time of the year you visit, you might have a nice view of the Castello Principesco (Castle) across the street and the surrounding alps. The restaurant itself sits in the shadow of the mountains where the entrance to a nice walking path “Tappeinerweg” is right next to it. We dined a la carte and I had the following: Antipasti: Tataki di cinghiale, thin wild boar slices in mushroom sauce. While all the dishes were incredible this was the most memorable and if still on the menu I would recommend getting this. Starting off the meal with this dish was a perfect way to set up the upcoming courses. My wife had their take on Vitello Tonnato which is one of her favorite dishes from the the northwest of Italy (Piedmont) that she loved. Primi: I had Gnocchi di patate filled with wild garlic, while my wife had the Ravioli stuffed with roasted meat. Both done perfectly. Gnocchi if made badly can be too heavy or mushy and these were light and fluffy and filled with flavor. Secondi: Galletto di Bresse which was juicy and tender and done perfectly while my wife had the Cervo (deer) done perfectly. I had the Gelato in Olive oil and citrus for a dolce which was a refreshing way to end the meal. We were also treated to some creative amuse bouche courses that were delicious at the beginning and ending of our meals You will not be disappointed dining here, it is well worth it. Andrea and his wife also own the hotel we stayed at, Steinach Townhouse Meran which was amazing as well which I highly recommend if you are planning a stay in the city. I am not an active "reviewer" but I will always make time to write something for a place like this. Locally or family owned places that provide memorable experiences and clearly care about their business and customer base. If you visit Merano this places is a must to eat at and you will not regret it.

One of the absolute highlights of our trip in the region. Lunch at Sissi was an exceptional experience — the food was simply outstanding, refined without being pretentious, and full of personality. What really stood out was the warm, family-like atmosphere. You feel genuinely welcomed, not just served. Chef Andrea Fenoglio and the whole team have created something truly special. This is the kind of place you plan a trip around. A real gem.

The dishes were culinary masterpieces, blending bold flavors, innovative techniques, and artistic presentation. Each bite was a delightful surprise, showcasing Chef Fenoglio’s extraordinary talent. What’s even more remarkable is the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere—a Michelin-starred restaurant that feels inviting and unpretentious. Every aspect of this meal was perfection, from the flawless service to the beautifully plated creations. Chef Fenoglio has truly created something special at The Sissi. I’m already dreaming of returning for another unforgettable evening.

Our favorite experience every time we are in the region. The food is amazing, the service makes you feel right at home and the atmosphere is phenomenal.

We happened to walk by this place last night and were immediately attracted to it. We called in the morning to see if we could get a table and, we were very fortunate they had a table for us. When it's holiday season book ahead as it gets really busy here. There is only one word to describe this place....favoloso !!! The whole experience is fantastic and deserving of two Michelin stars in my opinion. The owner / chef here is at your table taking food orders and also ensuring that your special needs are catered for. They also have a good range of choices if you are vegetarian. The service here is top class. The waitresses speak three languages and whilst their English is not fantastic they make every effort to communicate with you in English, Italian or German. The food here is to die for. The small courses in between like, the liquid pizza, Piemonte ball with anchovies and the modern Apfelstrudel were just divine. My entree of Pastry, Foiegras, smoked eel and foam was fabulous as was the baby lamb shoulder main. The Passionfruit caviar with mango Eis was my favourite, as the Eis was made with Alphonso mangoes from India and was divine. It was delectable journey of intense flavours and clever cooking. The wine list is extensive with 400 some odd wines on the list and, many whites and reds from the area. The petit fours that came with the coffee were also excellent. I would come back here in a heartbeat. The ambience, food, wine list, service and attention to detail makes this a divine experience :-)))

The owner/chef was unaccommodating and rude, insisting that we sit by the kitchen door when several tables were available by the window. We convinced one of the other staff to move us and he continued to make clear that we were not welcome. We were reminded several times that they needed the table at a later hour, when diners who had arrived earlier were not asked to leave. The staff members were reluctant to engage in conversation, always rushing to the kitchen. We felt discrimination because we are English speakers. The food was just mediocre, and a poor value. It was not the fine dining experience we were looking for. Don't bother with Sissi.

We had an amazing evening. The food was simply divine and delicious. chef Andrea Fenoglio hosted a wonderful evening, coming to chat to each of his customers, this is rather rare but lovely. His team were very professional and very friendly. His wine selection is big and well selected. We enjoyed each and every moment of this wonderful Michelin star restaurant and can't wait to return again. We highly recommend it.

The absolute best pasta dishes I have ever had. I went for dinner- and had a special of the day- gnocchi with wild garlic. It was SO good, I had to come back for lunch the next day and have it again. Must visit- and make a reservation if you are in Merano.
