"Come for the food but stay for the six-lane bowling alley at long-running supper club Sister Bay Bowl in Door County, a peninsula on Lake Michigan. First operated as a hotel and adjoining dancehall in the 1950s, Sister Bay Bowl became a supper club when Earl and Rita Willems bought it in 1964. A small bowling alley where guests can sip old fashioneds between strikes replaced the dancehall a half century ago. The couples’ descendants now run the establishment, and customers are served by cooks and waitresses who have worked there for 30 or more years."

Excellent place to relax with friends. Check out the bowling alley and bar on your way to the dining room that has been entertaining people for decades. Start with an outstanding Old Fashioned, enjoy a ribeye, and finish with a great dessert. Our server Tammy was friendly and helpful. A perfect Wisconsin evening.

New Year's Eve "Cherry Drop" Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable employees...just not enough of them. Ran out of some drinks. The rsvp buffet was delicious and well-run. We'll be back during normal hours to give an updated review with food pics.

My perch breading was soggy. We sat down and immediately received our fish... so it must of been sitting not freshly fried. At 25.00 a plate I'd expect better. Than we had to ask for a bread and butter. The tip range on the check out gizmo started at 25%. Good think I'm good at math. We usually have a good experience. Atmosphere is great, dinner not so much. Will try again tho

Cute supper club. They were dead in the back dining room, so we were the only table, but our table was right by the big open window with a view down the street. Two of us ordered fish, and one of us got a big salad, and it was all delicious and fresh. Our waiter was a very nice young guy. We didn't end up going bowling, but we had a good time.

Google
Food was above average. Received the cocktail I ordered about 10 minutes after my meal arrived. It would have been nice if I had received it sooner. It was good however. Perch were very good.

Google
Sister Bay Bowl is a great place for fish fry. The food was hot and flavorful. The service was exceptional. We have been there many times and will go again

Google
Two people ordered perch fish tacos. Fish hot and sweet; tartar sauce wrong accompaniment. Mango salsa or something wiscocentric? Asked waitress for more lemon and she forgot. Diner decor.

Dinner service was good, good food, wait staff was pleasant but the bar service after dinner was aweful and we ended up not getting it drinks and leaving.

Yelp
Dog will hunt! Reconfirming 1 year later no overpriced wine store or popcorn shop can or will compare with the long standing standards. 10/10, Bruce & the gang in the kitchen knocked a doozer & we left feeling like we hit a grand slam. Kids loved the bowling, we loved the pbr on draft at the unique bar -- and we all loved the just dang good cookin'. Kiss the cook, T

Yelp
We had a blast here!! This place is made of old school Wisconsin vibes through and through. From the Old Fashioned menu to the supper club that's located under the same roof, it makes for a perfect evening for the family. We rented our lane for around $20-$25 and shoes were included. Our toddler had a blast with his first time bowling. I believe there were around six lanes making it quite the intimate and cozy experience. I preferred this over a giant alley. The staff was straightforward in their service. Score keeping was manual on a sheet of paper. This was definitely one of the highlights for our time in Door County.

Alex S.

Yelp
Unassuming from the outside, bustling with fun on the inside! We walked in without reservations & were seated promptly. I opted for the whitefish/prime rib dinner-what a huge plate of food! The broiled whitefish was flaky & melted in my mouth. Prime rib was buttery deliciousness. Dinner included freshly made bread & salad. While not the fanciest or most refined supper club, you will have a wonderful meal in a fun environment!

B G.

Yelp
If I could, I would give it 3 1/2 stars. They both tasted good, but in my opinion, the portion was very small for $56. That did include a 20% surcharge for takeout. The perch had about six small pieces and I do mean small and there were five shrimp. They were very generous as you can see with the french fries and it was a good portion of coleslaw and potato salad. The staff was very friendly and the food came out fast.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Not sure where to start we had such a great experience here. Saturday night and the place was jumping but managed to get a lane and some drinks while we waited for our table. Food and staff were terrific. Have been passing this place by for at least a decade and wish we'd have gone sooner. Great old fashions, prime rib and fish fry. Don't pass on this one!

Megan E.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and great eats. Had to wait a while for a bowling lane due to the holiday crowds but worth the wait!

Jen G.

Yelp
Large party accommodation on a Friday and couldn't be happier with service, food, cocktails and atmosphere! The kids bowled while we waited, the moms shopped the cute stores and the dads enjoyed some cocktails while we waited for a table. Food service was quick, our server was very nice and the hostesses were spot on with timing and were so friendly! The fried perch was delicious, prime rib was good and the fried walleye was good but wish they used the same seasoning as the perch. Old fashion- brandy/sweet was a dream! Great place!

Lauri H.

Yelp
What a fun vibrant place to spend the evening. Service was impeccable!! Food was meh but drinks were cold and flowing freely.

Space Cowboy G.

Yelp
Home town real people. Friday Fish Fry Walleye. large plate A+. We sat at the bar. Terrific bartender. Quick with the Old Fashions. Love this place!

Melissa L.

Yelp
This spot was recommended to us by a local and did not disappoint!! It's right in the heart of Sister Bay with a ton of surrounding restaurants. We came on a Saturday night and it was busy but not packed. We got a bowling lane right away. They're very old lanes, six in total. You keep your own score on paper which added to the fun experience for us. You pay by the hour and grab bowling shoes for free. Everyone is drinking and having a good time. Definitely family friendly, too, as there were many families and groups. Our lane was a little finicky and we had to reset it a few times, but it didn't detract from our experience. It was so fun! A really old school bowling vibe. The bar and restaurant were attached to the bowling lanes, so when we finished bowling we just headed to the hostess stand who seated us right away. We had some drinks and an appetizer of curds. Wisconsin just cannot do fried cheese wrong, it is always so good!!! The star of the show for me was the perch dinner. On a big bed of fries, the fish was fantastic. The tartar sauce is also homemade there and out of this world. We had such a fun night and would come back any day of the week. Staff was so nice and we had really good time.

Yelp
Last month, I had a group of 50 Illinois Farm Bureau colleagues up to Door County for a work event. Of course, I wanted to take them to an iconic Door County restaurant so I picked the Sister Bay Bowl. I've been coming to the Bowl for over 25 years, however typically it's just 2 or 4 of us. Since they don't take reservations, I gave them a heads up I was coming in with a large group on a Wednesday night (in season). When we arrived, it took them 10-short minutes to arrange tables and we were seated. Within minutes drink orders we taken, food orders were taken and before I knew it the food was coming out of the kitchen. I expected there to be a delay with a group this big, however I was wrong. Everyone was served in a timely manner, no one had to wait for a missing meal and the servers were amazing! This is just one example of why the Bowl has been a staple in Sister Bay for over 60 years! Family owned, friendly staff and delicious food! Thanks so much for making this group dinner so perfect! See you all again soon!

Jim K.

Yelp
Had the potato skins, Nobel approach, sliced edges of potato more skin than potato. Had the bowl of chili, pretty good but seemed a little sweeter. Excellent service, very crowded at lunch but everything went smooth and well.

Tina W.

Yelp
We stopped in for a bite to eat at 9pm and ordered pizza. Unfortunately, it came out burnt. They did offer to cook another one but I usually don't mind things on the crispier side and didn't want to be wasteful or put them out. Also, the bartenders were friendly. My disappointment was with the 20% late fee that was added to the cost of the pizza. Apparently, they charge extra if you order pizza past a certain time. The issue I have is with charging it and not mentioning it (as it's for gratuity) and with the fact that our pizza was burnt and that did affect the taste of the pizza. I feel like they could have at least taken the extra 20% off.

Yelp
Decided to try the bowling alley for the Friday night fish fry. The restaurant is nice inside, comfortable and not fancy. The service was good and very friendly. Even though they were very busy our server was very attentive. The fish fry was OK. I had the walleye and my wife had the perch. Both were very nicely breaded and very tasty. The fries were at best luke warm, but we did not say anything. The coleslaw tasted like cabbage with no real flavor, and because the fish and fries were piled on top, it was warm. The slaw would be much better served with a bit more dressing and in a separate dish. As I said, all in all it was OK, but nothing to rave about. Next time we want a fish fry I think we will try other places.

Jim D.

Yelp
Ignored when arriving ,bartender was a mid 30s guy rude, and disrespectful old fashion was watered down with soda and bar syrup. perch was undercooked bread loaf was part froze served steak was chewy and tough with spent $130 on a meal that we could have had better at Culver's Brought it up and said they were sorry we were disappointed never offered anything else. Next night we went to Alexander's that was a 5 Star hit we will never recommend or return to Sister Bay bowl 25 years ago awe current management is not following same guy they used to be.

Ted M.

Yelp
Always great good. Great service and reasonable prices. Their nightly specials are excellent and best Perch in Door County.

Tom D.

Yelp
Always enjoy The Bowl. Great chicken and great perch, can't go wrong with either of them. They bring you out a nice loaf of fresh hot bread, half white, half rye. Good drinks and bar area as well. A staple for your visit to Door Co.

Kori K.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Came in for fish fry, didn't know what I wanted & was told by the server in front of everyone she was busy & make up your mind now. Food was horrible..... we got food poisoning & ruined our trip. The couple we were with also got food poisoning. never ever would I recommend this place!!

Christine V.

Yelp
The service was superb, food delicious and atmosphere relaxing, friendly and family oriented. Sunday is broasted chicken special which looked so good, but I cannot get perch like this at home! Thank you Sister Bay Bowl for hometown traditions.

Michael H.

Yelp
My best perch fry ever. If you want a real good experience with a fresh fish fry. You need to try this place. I am a fish fry snob and this place is incredible.

Claire S.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE!!! The worst experience of my life, the staff were all very rude, especially the younger guy with a foreign accent, he should not be working in customer service. The food was overpriced and shitty and you could barley get a drink because everyone was so rude. DO NOT GIVE THEM SERVICE!!

Joe H.

Yelp
I am not in NYC but Josh behind the bar makes one of the best Manhattans on the rocks I have had in my travels. Additionally sister Kelsey is right beside him with as much craft precision. The Brandy Alexander they are known for transports you back to time when John Lennon was loving them as his favorite drink. The nostalgia of this establishment is like the bowling alley in the Big Lebowski meets Cheers. I also must add whatever the wait time is for a table in the supper club you must Wait!!! Food is excellent! Be understanding...just like all restaurants they are low staffed due to the pandemic so please be understanding and just have another cocktail with Josh and Kelsey as you wait!

Karen S.

Yelp
This is an institution in Door County for fish fry and prime rib. Food is good traditional supper club fare. However there is a male bartender who is very rude and blatantly ignores women customers. Steer clear of him if possible. I live in DC and his behavior makes me not want to go back to this place.

Philip C.

Yelp
Great relaxed atmosphere. Good Wisconsin supper club eats. Service was first rate. After dinner you can always bowl!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The brunette server is incredibly RUDE and should not be working in this type of business where you are dealing with the public! We weren't sitting at our table for 5 minutes and a window table opened up so we asked our server if we could slide over and he nervously said "I'll have to ask". Here comes the bully Burnett in a huff and scolds me saying "WE'LL BUS YOUR TABLE AGAIN! MOVE! GO! I HAVE PEOPLE WAITING FOR THAT TABLE. She didn't have to speak to me the way she did. I declined at that point shocked at the unprofessionalism and just rudeness. Mind you we didn't touch anything on our tiny table! We should have walked out right then and there but our food was arriving and I felt bad for the server. A very nice young man from Istanbul! I don't know how he can work under such circumstances. There were two hostesses. Neither one was nice but the brunette with glasses was worse. I was so sorry I picked this place to have dinner so many other better choices. We were celebrating our 30 Year Anniversary! I will NEVER go back to Sister Bay Bowl and would certainly NOT recommend it!

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to door County for 30+ years we've never eaten here before and decided to take a chance. Boy oh boy what a chance it was upon entering the establishment we were told that the POS system was down and that they were only excepting cash which of the time thank God we had enough. When the check game In hand written form I felt incumbent to survey the situation. I added up the numbers the total was comprised of three numbers. The food taxes and the beverages. A quick review even by a third grader would've seen that those three numbers did not add up to the total total. Hence the waitress was summonsed She came I told her the problem she questioned whether I was talking about each entrées amount which I said in the negative no no problem all I wanted to do Was talk about the total. I explain to her that it was clear that those three numbers could not add up to the total to which she then took the check out of my hand went to a Calculator somewhere came back and said the numbers were 100% correct that she had run a tab three times. It took all of my composure to act like a gentleman in front of my grandchildren. I then pointed out to her that there's no way in gods green earth those three numbers could add up to the total. Finally she looked at the last three numbers and acknowledged there was a problem and could not understand how that could've occurred since she ran a tape thrice. If you venture to Sister Bay bowl just watch your wallet. The grifters name was Lina. Oh and by the way the food was mediocre at best.

Nicole P.

Yelp
The hours listed on their website are inaccurate. So we drove all the way here and they weren't actually open.

Bern T.

Yelp
Old school Wisconsin tavern. Friendly service great beer selection. We did not eat here but the food looked good. Guys this is a great place to duck into while the wife/significant other is out roaming the stores. We came back later in the evening and had a family bowling night. The old worn out nostalgic lanes, balls and shoes actually was the perfect setting for a fun inexpensive family night.

Jack M.

Yelp
Loved the Wisconsin Surf n Turf: Prime Rib and Perch basket. I loved the tender juiciness of the Prime Rib. The perch was dense and crisp on the exterior. The salad was mediocre. Overall this was an excellent meal. And the environment is a pure Wisconsin supper club.

John B.

Yelp
It really pains me to post this review and score for SBB. This used to be an outstanding place for great food and reasonable prices. BUT, I hadn't been there for about ten years. After working hard to convince my three companions that a place with a bowling alley actually had good food, they agreed to humor me and go for dinner. Now I'm sorry I put on the pressure. They had whitefish and were underwhelmed. Their veggies were way over cooked and the fish was barely average. I had the nightly special, liver and onions. The liver spent a bit too much time in the pan and could have been better if left a bit pink. Bacon was also over cooked. Apparently SBB has fallen from the list of good places to dine in Door County. Sad to see.

Melissa B.

Yelp
The old school bowling lanes are a cool experience, our kids had fun bowling here The food on the other hand... just awful. The cheese curds were good but other than that, yikes. I hate to be so mean but my chicken was over cooked and inedible. My husband had the fish fry and agreed that it was not good. They charge $6 for Kraft mac n cheese. Unfortunately, there are much better options in the area.

Kaydee E.

Yelp
Restaurant food was just okay but our server was probably the kindest and most patient person I have ever met. Handled my VERY difficult soon to be mother-in-law better than anyone I've ever seen and was beyond patient with her despite her many complaints. That woman deserves a massive bonus for how incredibly well she handled things. Also had a fantastic time bowling a the next day, though the bar was very busy and we had some trouble figuring out how to score our game. All in all worth stopping in for some food and fun I'd say!

Maureen N.

Yelp
Went to Sister Bay Bowl on a Thursday night and immediately were seated. We had a super table with great view, and an attentive waitress. Sweet brandy old fashioned was wonderful. Was paired well with their signature lake perch dinner.

Ronda D.

Yelp
Friendly service. Full bar. BBQ ribs ok, sauce really sweet- just not flavorful. Not a place for ribs. Chopped sirloin was delicious! Ordered medium, was overdone ...but still tasty and enjoyable. Blackened whitefish was a nice piece of fish, and seasoned beautifully. Would come back for chopped sirloin

Penny L.

Yelp
Went here for dinner the other night and was truly disappointed. The service was terrible. The establishment wasn't clean. There was lipstick on my glass and when I asked for a new glass the bartender gave me a horrible attitude. Truly a bad experience.

Kelly D.

Yelp
After waiting for an hour, the meal was disappointing, and inediable. The chicken was rubber and disgusting. Not recommended.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
If you live in the Midwest this is NOT a fish fry. No salad bar, a baked potato costs extra?? it's at best a $12 meal. Won't be back after coming to door county 8 years I. a row and can't ever get in! Have no idea what people are coming for!

Brian M.

Yelp
For years I've had a friend say Sister Bay Bowl was the place for a perch dinner. Finally broke down and decided to give it a try on a Tuesday afternoon. (They offer their fish on Tuesdays) . Sister Bay Bowl is most certainly a dated establishment long overdue for updating. It seems the business is struggling with its identity as being a supper club, a bowling alley or a tavern. I've visited many supper clubs & none of them that had bowling lanes back in the day have maintained them. I guess a game did occupy the children while we waited for our food. I ordered the perch and it did have good flavor. The fillets were very small and the coleslaw was vinegar based, not to my liking but each to their own. For the quantity that came with the plate I would have thought our meal should have been a few dollars less expensive than it came out to be. It surprises me that this serms to be a place the locals frequent unless perhaps the locals get a better deal than menu price. Our meals weren't bad, there are just so many options throughout Door County that it'll be years before Sister Bay Bowl makes it to the top of our stop list again.

Heather H.

Yelp
IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD! We came in shortly before 6pm on a Saturday, there were a number of tables open in the dining and bar areas (which should have been red flag one). There was another couple in front of us waiting for the host - we waited a good almost 10 minutes before anyone even came to the host stand, that should have been a red flag two. After the couple in front of us got sat, some guy who seemed as though he had one too many drinks came up and was complaining to the host about how the server treated his grandmother. That went on for far too long and then some woman came in and waltzed right in front of us and the host greeted her although she knew we were waiting to be sat. I have heard good things about Sister Bay Bowl but am so appalled at the shitty service (not even, it was a total lack of service!) that we will never be back to give it a try. What a garbage establishment to completely ignore customers. We left and and went elsewhere to our daughters dismay as she was so hungry and because they ignored us at Sister Bay Bowl she had to wait even longer to eat.

Jeff R.

Yelp
Really a nice place . . . both for families or just simply for a cocktail . . . oh yea . . . very good dinner menu as well! The bowling alley is a huge draw and the bar atmosphere is fun and definitely a locals hang out.

Northern Y.

Yelp
The seafood is very good, my wife had the prime rib but it was fatty. Very good restaurant overall

Bethany S.

Yelp
We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for a drink and a quick bite. There were people at the bar but it wasn't overly busy. We had a group of 10 or so so we sat on opposite sides of the bar where there was seating available. We were patient in placing our orders and made a conscious decision to order pitchers instead of individual drinks to make the process easier on the bartender. The TV was on and all we could really hear were commercials so we put a few dollars in the virtual jukebox to play some music. Clearly the bartenders didn't want to listen to that because when the music came on they immediately turned it down to levels you practically couldn't hear. When it came time to order food we ordered a few different appetizers to split with the group. We knew the food would come in waves but both orders took a long time to come out. We got some wings and cheese curds, both of which were good. When it came time to pay the bartender put everything on one tab without asking how we'd like to split it up. A bit frustrating but we moved forward. We had one person put everything on their card and then we'd Venmo them afterwards. Unfortunately after they'd paid someone realized we got charged $8 for chicken for a side salad they never got. The bartender offered to give out a couple drinks to go. When someone in our party asked if they could get a Shirley Temple the bartender asked in a bit of a tone if we wanted to pay for that too to which they confusingly answered no, thinking it was part of the to-go drinks. The bartender left and came back a couple minutes later saying, "I hope you know you got $18 worth of drinks for free." Yikes. No idea where that came from. Our group was very patient and tried to work with what appeared to be a worn out, tired crew but instead we got snapped at and attitude. It's a shame because there's not a ton of places to eat here or especially grab a quick bite or drink but I would absolutely not recommend this space.

Paul H.

Yelp
I had the blackened chicken breast and a baked potato. Can't say it was anything special.

Vicki T.

Yelp
Finally got to this famed place. I'll report the food was mediocre at best. The salad was straight up iceberg lettuce with a few sprinkles of carrots and some croutons out of a bag, and bottled dressing. My husband had the fried perch and he said it was good. I had the ribs which were the oven baked kind and they were ok. The broasted potatoes were pretty good. Nothing really to write home about in all. Even though they open before, they do not seat people in the restaurant until 5 pm, and there were people already lining up. I'd say skip this, as there are better places to go.

Lee H.

Yelp
Always my go to for the last night of our Door County vacation. It's what I look forward to all week because their Prime Rib is fantastic. However, this time when I called in for take out (because a bowling alley is typically a bad place during a pandemic) I was told that they weren't doing takeout that evening because their staff was busy and "under stress". Boo hoo. How hard is it to take a carved piece of meat and put it in a box instead of onto a plate. What a cop out. Since when do customers not come first in any business. My company works short handed a lot of the time. We just dig in and get it done because the customer pays our wages. Turn people away and they will remember. I know I will.

Michael F.

Yelp
Tonight, we had the pleasure of dropping in on Monday's Prime Rib Special... we're on vacation, and never been here before. We arrived before they started seating patrons, of which there was plenty waiting. So, first of all, the food was great! Not one letdown at all. But what impressed us more, was Alice. With the onslaught of a lot of people, all at once, we understood they were likely to be very busy. Still, Alice was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and it was clear she's good at what she does. We admired her ability to take care of everybody all at once; efficient without sacrificing the ability to provide a wonderful experience. Thank you!

Javi S.

Yelp
Right in the heart of sister bay, you'll come across this place often. I'll save you the time & cost, don't eat here. There's plenty of much better options in the area. We had a bad experience even before we opened up our carry out meal. "What do you mean exactly?" We went through the entire process of finding a place, deciding what we'd like, and finally placing the order before being informed at the very last second upon payment that we would be subject to a 20% tip. A forced tip for carry out? The napkins, containers, & bag simply don't merit that up charge. That's just weird & quite frankly, felt like a money grab from vacationers. Now to the actual food. The broiled white fish, perch, chicken wrap & potato salad were something between okay to good. Side salads were meh. Definitely do not order the scallops. I'll leave it at that. Maybe too high of expectations from a bowling alley but overall, it just didn't feel like a customer-centric business. We visited many others in the area that left a better impression on us than Sister Bay Bowl did.

Laura S.

Yelp
The Bowl has great perch fry! We love the homey atmosphere and the service is fantastic!

Scott T.

Yelp
Food is still good. Service is now terrible. Took over 2 hours for dinner. Several bowling lanes were empty, but took over 20 minutes just to get a lane.
