Yelp
A uniquely Sisters experience, Sisters Coffee Company offers good coffee and other drinks, high quality service, wonderful atmosphere, and a wider array of food options than most coffeehouses.
This beautiful cafe feels very Central O, and very Sisters: high ceilings, pine paneling and carved wood, big stone fireplace, trophy taxidermy on the walls, along with some interesting, varied art. Outdoor seating is plentiful.
Servers and baristas are often exceptional in friendliness, coffee prep, and customer service abilities; they've clearly been shown how to make customers happy even when there's a mistake or problem. One suspects they are being treated well at work.
I hang out, meet with friends & clients, and work here a lot! However, the Internet/wifi is sketchy.
The coffee is roasted locally by Sisters Coffee themselves. It's not to everyone's taste, but I'm a fan of the Black Butte Gold roast. I love that Sisters Coffee usually offers drip coffee and drip decaf, in addition to complicated espresso drinks. I wish they'd commit to having more decaf in the afternoon. (No, an Americano is not the same!)
The menu changes. Largely, they try to provide more hot foods than most places, and they're pretty darned good, though prices have gone up too high. Creative breakfast burritos, soups, a lox plate, egg sandos.
There's also good merch: high-quality shirts and hoodies and mugs, coffee packaged for retail, and coffee-oriented gifts.
Greater attention to environmental sustainability would be welcome. They won an award for creating a new kind of retail coffee packaging, which is great, but the cafe still sends way too many plastic forks, cardboard boxes, and plastic to-go tops out into the world. If the default was to really ask, "For here or to go?" of every item ordered, give folks a chance to choose a nice antler mug or a real fork on a real plate, encouraging non-disposable items.... that would be grand.
During intense tourism times -- which are more and more common -- many locals won't go near Sisters Coffee anymore. The lines get really long, the customers less friendly in some cases, etc. Maybe Sisters Coffee could create a secret order window and seating nook for year-round locals only...
I'm very happy to have Sisters Coffee in our town. Thanks for all you provide.
