This one-star review is specifically for the woman working at the cash register, wearing a mask, on Friday, March 31. This store has a wonderful, eclectic selection of goodies and I was excited to look around and find some treasures to bring home.
My husband & I took a while to roam around all of the rooms and choose some items we wanted to buy. Once we decided on everything I asked the woman (who this review is of) for help in getting a pair of matching hanging velvet lamps that were in the back. They seemed kind of fragile and I didn't want to damage them in any way.
When I asked for help she looked at me and said (with attitude): "I have no idea what you're talking about. Those belong to someone else and I haven't been her in three days." Okay, that kind of caught me off-guard (& I kinda don't care when you was last there tbh), but I shrugged it off.
When we were in the area where the lamps were and I let her know they were under the table in the shed, she said "What table?" (There was only one.) I went right up to it to show her. The lamps were a bit cumbersome because they had long chains for hanging & plugging in. We got them out, my husband carried one, and I carried the other. She was in front of me and I was struggling not to trip over the chain as we were walking towards the register. She never once turned around or asked if I needed help. Now I was getting more annoyed.
We got the lamps to the register, then my husband & I walked around the store to gather the other items we wanted to buy. When I came back at some point I asked her if she had a box or some other protection for the lamps. We had a long drive ahead of us and I wanted to make sure everything arrived safely. This time she really made me feel like I was imposing upon her. Really? No one else has ever asked you for a box or something to protect an item? I went to grab one more thing to buy, but then I decided I had had enough of her. We left.
I will admit that I feel better getting this off of my chest, but this review is not necessarily meant to deter people from shopping here; it's more to warn her coworkers. By my rough calculation, I was about to spend almost $700 (two small mirrors, a large piece of coral, a set of cereal bowls, an old track trophy and the velvet lamps). Her rudeness lost money for everyone that day. Small businesses should always be about the incredible customer service. The funny thing is that she was great about saying hello to people when they arrived and thanking them when they left, but she couldn't handle actually helping a customer. When I told her I had changed my mind & wasn't going to buy anything, she told me to have a nice day. Not sure if she was being sarcastic or was completely clueless. Go figure!
