As of this writing, Sisters Thai Kitchen is the latest Thai restaurant to open in Roseville, CA, and is the currently the only Thai restaurant located in west Roseville. Since their opening in early September of this year, Sisters Thai Kitchen as acquired quite a reputation as a great place to dine, thanks to the delicious cuisine and the amazingly friendly service.
As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the clean, spacious, comfortable and thoroughly modern decor. Dine-in, to-go, and online orders are offered, and you can even order and pay from your smartphone, using a computer station, located just inside the door.
The decor is quite sparse - I like it - and the dining room is decorated for Christmas, as the holiday is less than two weeks away! Where is the customary portrait of the King of Thailand that nearly all Thai restaurant showcase?
As you enter the restaurant, to your left is the order counter/meet/greet station, where you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member, who will hand you a menu. You make your selection from the menu, pay for it, and receive a number. You pick out any open table, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you by a friendly staff member. If you prefer, you can order from a computerized station, complete with "QR Code." Not me, as I prefer to order in person. I refer to this as the "taqueria format," as it is prevalent in many Mexican taquerias.
If you aren't familiar with Thai cuisine, just ask, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff will be glad to explain the various choices, what they're all about, and assist you to pick a selection which works for you. If you need time to ponder the menu, simply take the menu to a table, look it over, and bring it to the order counter, and place your order.
From the "Street Style Thai Food" section of the menu, I went with "Moo Yang," which is Thai grilled pork, served with steamed rice, dipping sauce and steamed vegetables.
The menu describes this delicacy as, "Moo Yang... Thai herb marinated bone in pork chop from K&D Freitas Farms, in Wilton, CA, grilled and served with steamed vegetables and a house made dipping sauce." Such an amazing lunch!
The showcase of the meal was a large, bone in pork chip, marinated in Thai herb seasoning, perfectly grilled, complete with attractive grill marks. The meat was simply delicious, as it was juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned and fork-tender, so the knife was mostly window dressing. The bone added amazing flavor and helped keep the pork chop moist and tender. When you have a choice, take my recommendation and always go for bone-in, as the bone adds both amazing flavor and moisture. Such an amazing pork chop! I cut the meat off the bone into bite-size pieces, and I requested a small box to bring the bone home with me, to enjoy in a future pot of soup.
The steamed vegetables, carrot, broccoli and baby corn were fresh, steamed perfectly, and retained a bit of "snap" when I bit into them. They made for a perfect side dish with the "Moo Yang."
After Julia brought my lunch to me, she asked if I would like a side of rice - naturally - so she scooped a large side of rice from the rice pot and brought it to my table. I spooned it on my plate and added soy sauce, as it was simply plain white, steamed rice, and needed a bit of seasoning. I toyed with adding some of the sauce from the condiment bar, but in the end, a few teaspoons of soy sauce worked out.
The "House Made Dipping" sauce seemed to be a honey-soy sauce, with ginger, sesame oil and spices. It was simply delicious and made for great dipping, especially for the rice. I don't know why I didn't request seconds??
My lunch of "Moo Yang" was simply delicious, as everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and delightful to look at. The service provided by my hostess, Julia was superb, and the warm welcome I enjoyed by the owner, Lee was priceless.
You'll appreciate the spotlessly-clean and well-organized dining room, the delicious and authentic Thai cuisine, along with the super friendly service.
For "foodies" who love the exotic and delicious taste of Thailand, pay a visit to Sisters Thai Kitchen, located in The Plaza Blue Oaks, in west Roseville, CA.
