Yelp
I've been a patron of Sister Thai in Fairfax City for an over a decade now. It's my go-to Thai place on NoVA. This branch at Mosaic is no different. I took my mom for an early dinner and we ordered new dishes we haven't tried before; massamun chicken and Pad See Ew. We also had our regular app, Green Curry with Roti. Everything was finger-licking good. Service is fast, and service is immaculate. This is basically the level of quality and service you'd want to receive from all restaurants. This branch is a walking distance from work, and I'll be coming back for lunch specials.

Yelp
Sisters Thai in Mosaic District used to be a favorite spot. Back in 2019, the food was amazing! However, on a recent visit, the taste just wasn't the same. The portions also seemed smaller compared to the price point. The Upsides: Gorgeous Ambiance: Sisters Thai has a beautiful and spacious interior, making it a great place for gatherings. The decor is well-done and creates a lovely atmosphere. Its also in the prime location of Mosaic District adding to its charm. Vegetarian Options & Friendly Staff: They offer a good variety of vegetarian options, catering to different dietary needs. The staff is also friendly and accommodating. The Downsides: Food Quality Dip: The flavors of the dishes seem to have fallen short compared to my previous experience. Price vs. Portion Size: The portions felt a bit small for the current price point.

Yelp
Cute homey restaurant! First time trying here even though it's been a popular Thai food destination for many. Our waiter was super kind and gave us a few recommendations and favorites from each section of the menu when we asked! Drinks | Thai tea - 4/5 I don't think they use the powder for their Thai iced tea and it had a really nice tea flavor plus wasn't too sweet! Apps | Crab Rangoon - 3.5/5 I don't usually like crab Rangoon but I liked this one! The cream cheese complimented instead of overpowered the crab and I felt like there were a lot of crab pieces inside! Creamy, not too oily and yummy sweet spicy sauce to balance out the heaviness Entrees | Massaman curry - 4/5 waiter highly recommended this one and I'm glad we got it! We added seafood and it could use more but was all yummy and soft. The curry had a really nice spice to it (next time I'll ask for a bit more spicy) and loved the creamy, sweetish, coconut curry flavor throughout Crying tiger - 3/5 the sticky rice was a bit hard and dry on the outside. The sauce was good and steak with the topping was also good, most pieces were pretty soft with only a few pieces tougher or overcooked

Yelp
Decent food and cool ambience, with some serious detractors. The Drunken Noodles presented as medium heat were so hot, it ruined the experience. The servings seemed straight out of a kids menu, you need a second entree and a dessert to have enough food. I'm over this gastronomic baloney, I prefer the neighborhood's Thai.

Yelp
Intimate, eclectic spot nestled in Mosaic District. Came on a Friday night ~7:30pm and waited about 45min for a table for four. Though the restaurant was packed the whole night, service was attentive & steady. We got the- -Larb Gai ($13): tossed lettuce with ground chicken, red onion, & cilantro in spicy lime dressing. unfortunately, chicken was tad dry & our least fave dish. -Drunken Noodles w/ beef ($18): pan-fried wide rice noodles with chili, garlic, basil leaves, onions & tomatoes. the noodles were softer than what i've had before which i didn't mind. flavorful and enjoyed the tender beef and aromatic basil dispersed throughout the dish! -Crispy Duck Curry ($23): deep fried duck in spicy red coconut milk curry with basil, pineapple, and cherry tomatoes. never had pineapples in a curry dish before but loved the sweetness this added in contrast to the spiciness of the green peppers/ curry, savoriness of the duck, and freshness of veggies/ herb. our fave dish of the night! Delicious entrees & very pleasant dining experience here!

Yelp
This is such a cute little spot (emphasis on little). Very tasty food with great service. I recommend making reservations if you have a big party. I appreciate that when we tried to order the mango sticky rice our server was honest and told us the mango was a little sour that day, we love staff that keeps it 100%.

Yelp
Had a wonderful Saturday lunch here with my family. Although the place was small, there was no wait time. The food had great flavoring and everything was cooked the right amount.

Shelby P.

Yelp
I think the quality of food went down since the last time I've been here. The two dishes we got both had beef. The meat was extremely dry and not appetizing at all. Although the person who I went with drunken noodles were fairly good and both had great spice to them. My pad Thai was just bad. It tasted almost like it came from a box or possibly from a very poor quality Thai place. It's a shame because last time I came here and got the soup and thought that was really good. The decor is very cute and was really busy when we tried to go Saturday night.

Yelp
If you were to ask me if I was at a Cafe or a Library without showing you the food pictures, I'd said yes. Sisters Thai Mosaic District has a lot of personality, from the books, the menu that looks like a newspaper, the movie showing display, the small yet robust cafe inside, and even the decorated bathroom. There's even a section where it looks like you're eating in DC from a near by window! It's just like all over the place and I am really surprised that it's not a place for photoshoots. I came here before the dinner rush. There was no one here and I was really shocked to see that honestly. My phone likes to eat first so he gets first dibs on the photos. After checking out the restaurant for a few minutes, I sat down, and ordered an appetizer and an entrée. My server was really nice though I'm sure he knew I was here to review food, or I was just intrigued by the amount of decorations there are all over the place. You really can't go wrong with Thai Satay with Peanut Sauce. Marinated Chicken Skewers just go so well and I honestly love it so much. You get four skewers to go through and honestly it's enough to make you realize that it's something you could order anytime you get Thai. It's that good. My entrée was Pad See Ew. It's big flat rice noodles with Chicken, Chinese Broccoli, Eggs in Black Soy Sauce stir fried to perfection. This is my go to dish at Thai places and you can do no wrong if you were to get it. It's just comfort food for me and the best part is just that it's been cooked in a wok so you can also taste the Wok Hei as well. I did not get dessert but this was enough food for dinner. I was really happy to have checked out this place. The cafe? I should check it out sometime. An absolute gem worth visiting!

Michelle L.

Yelp
The place is cute but I feel the food is a hit or miss depending on who their chef is for the day. Whenever I order a "thai" spice dish, theres no heat just more sweet soy sauce and probably more MSG. I usually order their: 1. Chicken pad thai 2. Sisters thai fried rice 3. Chicken skewers 4. Green curry Roti 5. Drunken Noodle with Seafood 6. Maybe their Beef Kaprow (its never spicy enough just drenched in soy sauce) When its good, its really good. But I hate how its 50/50...

Zeinab B.

Yelp
The food was delicious. You can taste the flavor and the spices were perfect. The service was ok, we sit outside and it just took longer to check on us. The atmosphere is beautiful of the restaurant. I enjoy sitting outside in the summer

Sharon H.

Yelp
The tofu is pretty good and the noodles are thick. Pad see yew was a little bit sweet, which is really good since most of the time, restaurants make the sauce too sweet. Ambiance is great and the menus are presented like a newspaper, which is a really cute aesthetic. The servers are nice and attentive. The crab rangoon is also crispy and filled nicely.

Nikhita T.

Yelp
I had an exceptional experience at this Thai restaurant. Upon entering, I was charmed by its cozy library-inspired design and the novelty of menus presented in newspaper format. The addition of a dedicated nook for desserts was a delightful touch, enhancing the restaurant's unique interior design. As for the food, my friend and I indulged in crispy spring rolls, chicken satay, drunken noodles, and panang curry, all of which were delicious and served in generous portions. The diverse flavors and textures showcased the culinary expertise of the chefs. The service was pretty quick. The cocktail menu was equally impressive, featuring creative concoctions like "The Reminder" and "Bees Buzzing," which my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this place for its charming ambiance, flavorful dishes, and inventive cocktails. It's definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Food here time after time year after year is always fairly solid and consistent. However on our last visit, we went at 8:30 for dessert (restaurant closes at 9:30) and were told we had to take it to go, we could only dine in for a meal. The woman at the dessert counter just kept shaking her head with a mean look on her face. There were plenty of tables and we were planning on ordering many desserts. Too bad for the lack of customer service, we took our business elsewhere.

Sammi C.

Yelp
Friendly faces and a warm greeting will have you feeling very much at home. The space is absolutely adorable as it mimics an at home library but with cute windows that you can peak out and see "the city." I love their consistency in their restaurants. Can't wait for the Tyson's location to open as i work right in capital one city! The food is phenomenal and i personally love the workers! Special to us, we got the vegetarian chive dumpling. The sauce that comes with it is yum yum yum. Obsessed with their duck rolls as well! Wish it came with a little bit more sauce though. Perfect balance of sweet and tart. We also got the crying tiger to share, I personally liked it, and the steak was sliced and cooked to perfection at med. Rare. My SO didn't like the sauce too much, but he enjoyed the veggies. Their pad thai here is very good, not too saucy or dry!!! Can't wait to try the rest of their menu!!! Don't forget your fancy beverages

Paul B.

Yelp
Thai food was very good and worth coming back to. Some of the food marked spicy could be made non-spicy so be sure to ask if you don't like spicy food.

Yelp
Sisters Thai in the Mosaic District is located across from Urban Hot Pot and near Poffy. I decided to try something other than my usual curry dishes I always order at Thai restaurants, so I tried the Chicken Festival with Fried Rice which was on the Chef's Special menu. The dish itself just tasted like chicken on a skewer with fried rice. There wasn't much that stood out, really and it was kind of dry. For the price, I thought it was lacking the "special" part of a Chef's Special unfortunately. I also ordered the Crispy Wonton appetizer and Thai Tea. Those also tasted as expected. However, I'm willing to give the restaurant another shot and order something entirely different. The service was very good which is why I'm okay with trying the place again. I love how their menu looks like a newspaper too.

Amala S.

Yelp
This is a very solid Thai option tucked away in Mosaic. We were seated quickly on a Monday night and all the staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the red curry and chicken satay as a starter. I also ordered a Thai ice tea that was great! Sweet but not too sweet and a good tea flavor. The peanut sauce for the satay was absolutely delicious. Chicken was slightly dry but still tasted just fine. The red curry is like a warm comfort meal, perfect on a cold rainy day. Generous portion of meat and vegetables. It has a slight kick and a little extra punch if you eat the green chilis in the curry. Overall a very good Thai restaurant I would be happy to visit again!

Elaine C.

Yelp
Favorite Thai place. We got pad thai and drunken noodles. Smaller portions on the drunken noodles. Violet lady took a while for it to get ready. I love the decor inside. Nice staff. 10/10 recommend

Anushka M.

Yelp
We had a great time at sisters Thai! Everything was delicious and we were surprised at how fast everything came out too. They don't take reservations so there are wait times. We were a party of 4 and had about a 30 minute wait. The menus were designed like a newspaper which I thought was cool and something different. We started with the chicken satay and crispy wontons. Both were so good, and the peanut sauce that came with the chicken satay was amazing. I got the ka prow for my main dish which is chicken stir fried in basil and a chili garlic sauce. It was delicious and spicy too which I liked. Everyone loved their dishes. I also tried the chicken festival which had some of the best fried rice I've had. Overall I loved my experience here and I definitely want to come back!

Matthew H.

Yelp
Great food, great service, very consistent. The dinning room area has a great warm feel to it as well.

Aarti B.

Yelp
Delicious Panang Curry with a spicy kick! The Panang curry was pipping hot and bursting with flavor, perfect for a cold winter day. My nose was delightfully running and fried tofu and broccoli were great with absorbing the curry. Fun kitschy atmosphere and newspaper menu. One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area!

Aria K.

Yelp
As a regular patron of this local Thai restaurant chain, I've consistently experienced above-average dining that has made it a community favorite. While it may not claim the title of the absolute best in northern Virginia, it certainly holds its own as one of the great Thai spots in the area. What sets this place apart is not only the consistently delicious food but also its unique interior design. The ambiance inside is charming, making it a great choice for a casual date night. Equally, it's a perfect spot for a laid-back evening with friends. While you might not find anything to go crazy for, the reliable quality and inviting atmosphere make it a solid choice for any Thai food enthusiast in the area.

Jenni L.

Yelp
Probably one of my favorite (quite possibly even my top favorite) Thai spots in northern Virginia! Sisters Thai has such a cool, vintage and laid back style. The restaurant is cozy and the staff are quick and attentive. I come here pretty much every time I'm craving Thai food. They have a great and flavorful selection of classics like pad Thai, pad see ew, drunken noodles, and panang curry. Their chicken skewers and spring roll appetizers are great as well. There is an extensive drink menu and their Thai iced coffee hits the spot. This is definitely the place to be if you're looking for great Thai food!

Christine M.

Yelp
Came into town for a wedding and my sister brought me here because she lives this place and thought I would too. First reaction, I LOVE it!!!! Such a cute place. The staff was so nice and accommodating for our party of five. It's like walking into one of those cute little bookstores that you want to hang out in all day. The food was to die for. We order a couple of different dishes alongside Thai ice teas and everything came out amazing. I started recommending it to everyone who says they're going to dc

Dog Z.

Yelp
There have been a few common denominators through my visits here. First, there is a bit of a funky smell upon walking in. Everything on the menu is pretty good, but overly salted. The music is a bit too loud and the prices a bit too high particularly for drinks. The service is efficient but won't let you stay more than an hour before harassing you to leave. So don't go here if you want to catch up with old friends, as you'll be kicked to the curb, regardless of how much you spend.

Jailene H.

Yelp
I had lunch here today. I took advantage of the lunch menu and had spring rolls and drunken noodles. Their lunch special is only $15 which I think is a great deal. The service was questionable. The server was incredibly rude. I had to ask for everything, and her tone was painfully condescending. There were eight of us at lunch today and they made paying the final bill unnecessarily complicated. The restaurant itself is nice, but parking isn't convenient and they are clearly not set up for large groups. I would definitely try again, but I would go to a different location.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
This is my favorite Thai place in NoVA! When you walk in, they have a super cute library design and the menus are in newspaper format. The waiter/waitresses wear cute aprons and provide excellent service. I haven't had a bad food item here - I've had the crispy duck ka prow, pad thai, drunken noodle, pad lad na, pad see ew, crab meat fried rice, panang curry, yen-ta-fo, sticky rice with mango, and lychee raspberry cheesecake. They also have a lemon thai tea which is like a thai tea arnold palmer (absolutely love it!)

Georgina W.

Yelp
I went here with friends on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the pad See ew which I would definitely recommend. They have a few tables outside, so on a nice sunny day it was enjoyable. The noodles were really thick, which I loved, and the tofu was a generous portion. My friends also really enjoyed their food and you can't really complain about the meals The reason I give it three stars is the the service. Our waiter left for about 25 minutes before we ordered and we had to call him over in order to place our orders. Also after we paid we realized they had added 4 things we had not ordered totaling almost 30$

Nancy H.

Yelp
The Sisters Thai location in Mosaic is a charming spot worth checking out. The interior is gorgeous and I love the book shelf. We came for dinner on a busy night and the waiters were extremely attentive and would check up on us to let us know that our food was still being prepared. I got the crispy fish filet and it was delicious! I finished the whole thing. The fish was fried to perfect and had a yummy coating and the spicy sauce on top went perfectly with it.

Chanel S.

Yelp
I have never had sister Thai problems before, my hubby and I usually dine in, but this time we decided to do a take out, unfortunately when he took the food home, the Thai ice tea was not even filled up and looked as if someone had taken a sip, the chicken wings had a TERRIBLE smell and pretty sure they fried more than 3 times ,basically NOT fresh at all!

Ashley H.

Yelp
The best Thai food we've had in the area so far! First off, the design and layout of the restaurant is so unique and stunning. They have a movie theme going on with a beautiful grand piano up front and I love it! We ordered the Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice, Crispy Eggplant, and Drunken Noodles. Every dish was so delicious and amazing! The star of the show was definitely the Crispy Eggplant. We've never had eggplant fried like that and that changed the game for us. Service definitely could've been a little better and more attentive but it was kind of late in the night. We will definitely be back here!

Andy L.

Yelp
Was there with my sons came back from college break and wanted to have lunch with them. The place is nicely decorated, comfortable and inviting. The menu is a nice gimmick that is small newspaper like. I choose from the menu section that said "Street food" or something like that which to me hinted what you would get at night market food types. Nope. I had the chicken festival and it was two large looks simulated grilled marked chicken skewers, with lo mein and defrosted frozen veggies. Wow....it was disappointing. The chicken was big on the skewer, but not truly grilled, just grill lines on it. The lo mein side was terrible broken overcooked strands of lo mein noodles, and to top it off the veggie sides really looked like out of a frozen veggie that was steamed. Some of the carrot slices were just stuck together, the broccoli and baby corn pieces were just as bland. Hate to say it but this was pretty bad presentation of thai street food for $25. It's a great location in the Mosaic District, nicely decorated, nice wait staff but the quality of the food could be better. If it was better I could imagine folks just lining up to get in. There is definitely much better Thai food at hole in the wall locations close by.

Amir S.

Yelp
Took a stroll into Sisters Thai during a walk and decided to eat here after my second time visiting. I ordered the Crispy Duck Curry and the Crab Meat Fried Rice. I have no feedback to provide on these dishes, they were excellent. 1+. The specialty drinks that they craft are interesting and decadent. Please visit this place and try their amazing food you will not be disappointed! My only issue is the size of the space, but the food will make you forget all about that! 1+ for the books and decor.

Alejandra M.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to have a coffee the barista was making coffee. We told her host we wanted coffee and a pastry. It was about 5:30pm. Not crowded. He told us the machine was "broken". Pretty rotten treatment. Won't be going back.

Erin C.

Yelp
Everything was really good! The crispy duck especially was amazing but the others were top tier too

Annie C.

Yelp
I love how cozy and unique the restaurant looked. It was very unexpected like a cafe almost, and the menus like newspaper were very very cute. I got the cashew nut chicken, and the sauce was very sharp and strong, which balanced out well with rice. My friends got the duck curry and fish fillet, and they were all very good. Again, the sauces were very strong but still very good. The drinks were very pretty and tasty. We were unfortunately unable to try the desserts because they all sold out, but I guess that shows good things about them. The staff here were very accommodating.

Boyu L.

Yelp
Good atmosphere. Not too much surprise for Thai food, similar to other places in the taste. But if you want to have a good dinning environment, this would be a good fit.

Nicke R.

Yelp
Really like this place in the Mosaic district. Went on a Friday night and it was quite busy inside. It is also a little cramped because tables are quite near each other but we found we felt fine at the table. The drinks were delicious; I had the painkiller. (Only downside was it had a ton of ice inside.) The food was very yummy and flavorful and the portion sizes were nice. We had the appetizer sampler and all of the selections were delicious along with the dipping sauces. I had the Gai Grab Ka Prow and it was so good. Crispy chicken with peppers tossed in sauce with a side of steamed rice. It was so delicious and I had plenty to take home. They have plenty of menu options to try from. I would definitely come back here again.

Samita J.

Yelp
Delicious. This spot is so good. We arrived around 6pm. By 6:30pm, it was packed! It is not a huge space. The waitress wasn't the most attentive, but the food was great. We had the roti curry, and the chive dumplings. And then ordered the green curry, eggplant and drunken noodles. It had a kick to it and was very filling and flavorful.

Brittney W.

Yelp
Whew wee! This place is so good! I was expecting some plain ole thai food but this was on another level. I was not expecting my lunch to be sooooooooo good! The spring rolls were not mini AT ALL. One of them is quite filling so I was able to save 2 for lunch the next day. The garlic lover dish was delicious as well. The flavors were well balanced and was not heavy on the salt. My lunch was just as good the next day. I will recommend Sisters Thai and come back soon for my own meal

James H.

Yelp
Stopped by this place in Mosaic on a lunch break. Very nice interior with a bar and a few TV's with live sports, news, etc. Service was fast. The food itself was good, nothing crazy but nice and light. Overall, I would love to come here again. Cool aesthetic and nice service made my experience enjoyable. Next time I'll experiment and try one of their specials.

Adam K.

Yelp
Very good Thai food. Really good drunken noodles. Friendly service. Super cool and eclectic ambiance.

Chi L.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years!!! Favorite Thai place in the Fairfax area. Everything here has been so good, this time around we had the Angel Wings, which were really unique being stuffed with clear noodles and mushrooms. I've gotten the Duck Thai Curry here a few times and absolutely love it. The duck is cooked perfectly and I love the pineapple touch to it. Drunken noodles is a must in all the Thai restaurants I go to. This one is definitely on the top, with the right amount of spice, sweet, salty, absolutely amazing! Chicken satay , such a simple appetizer but it pairs so well with the delicious peanut sauce! Absolutely always my go to Thai place when I'm in the Fairfax area.

Simona I.

Yelp
From being my favorite Thai restaurant in the area, I'm not sure if I will be back again. I always order my favorite vegetarian Panang curry but the last time I've found a piece of meat in it. Moreover, this is the second time this happens as I've found a piece of meat in my vegetarian soup at their other location in Alexandria as well. I though it was just a one time thing but second time it's too much. It's so unfortunate because I really love the food there. Hopefully, the chefs in the kitchen can start being more professional.

Iris W.

Yelp
if mid was a restaurant it would be sisters thai i'm afraid. my table ordered a chicken larb and pad see ew with tofu and they were both...plates of food! the chicken larb was tough and overcooked. lettuce was limp. only notable flavor was that of fish sauce. the pad see ew was better, but rather greasy. tofu was almost rubbery. also felt rather one-dimensional in terms of flavor. also ordered the chicken larb to be extra spicy, but it was not spicy in the slightest? even by my low-spice tolerance friend's standards. that being said though, i did appreciate the ambiance of this place! the staff were also really lovely, and all of the food came out pretty fast!

Khanh-Chau M.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times and it's always a good spot to settle Thai food cravings. Food and service is good, but definitely some things that could be better. Crying Tiger was delicious, the steak and the flavourful sauce that's provided works so well! Although, the sticky rice that it comes was a little unexpected for me, as I don't think it really complimented the steak but was kind of just there. I personally liked the saltiness level, but it can come off as too much or MSG filled for those who don't like MSG/salty foods. Crunchy duck curry was amazing too! The curry was nice and smooth, but the crunchy duck itself was the best; perfect crunchy outside with a soft and melting texture on the inside. Probably my favourite dish. Although, one small bowl of rice doesn't really go along with the amount of curry there was, so we had to pay extra for two bowls of rice which I wasn't really fond of, especially with other Thai restaurants being a LOT more generous with their rice offerings and extras. ($2.25 per extra rice bowl and the bowl is small) Pad Thai with pork was okay. It was basically average and nothing jaw dropping. Thai iced tea was great and so were the desserts - not too sweet and loved the cream and toppings on the slices. This place also does not take reservations so you'll need to wait for a while for a seat or just come at an off time if you don't want to wait 20 min - 1 hour. You can call them asking about seat availability or if they can seat you within a few minutes, but that's the extent. Overall, the food is affordable and tasty, although the portions can be small for some people. It's definitely a nice place to visit with good food, but I think if you want more authentic Thai food that's more worth your money with their portions, there are definitely other options, and options that you don't have to worry too much about seating!

Kristen S.

Yelp
From the looks of it, locals love this spot. Judging by the dishes on the tables around us, the boneless duck seems popular. We ordered the chicken off of the top of the chef's specials menu. It was disappointing...way too sweet and fried in batter.

Marc R.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab a Sunday Lunch here with my brother. We didn't mind seating at the bar as it was quite packed as one would expect for a weekend. We were quickly lead to our seats and were able to order food right away. Staff was courteous and attentive despite the lunch rush. We ordered pad thai, crispy spring rolls, pineapple fried rice and a marinated beef steak. All were delicious and seasoned with familiar spices and flavors of Southeast Asia. The ambiance was quite amusing with remnants of Americana as the restaurants main decor theme. Would definitely try their other menu items soon.

Camille R.

Yelp
Food: got the Tom ka soup, Fried pork in tofu skin appetizer, and crispy duck curry. It was tasty! A bit pricy but that is on par with Mosaic district. Service: quick, professional Ambiance: cute decor, tables. Would come back for special events
