8 Best Nightclubs & Nightlife Spots in Berlin | Condé Nast Traveler

"Often compared to both a music festival on the beach and "Alice in Wonderland," Sisyphos isn’t as well-known as some of the other clubs on our list, but it’s not one to miss. Once you get past the gates (it used to be a former dog food factory), you’ll find a beach, an abandoned bus, a lake, more than a few dancefloors, and a pizza place. Open nonstop from Friday night at midnight to Monday at 10 a.m., it’s one of Berlin’s craziest—and most joyful—spots to dance the weekend away." - Krystin Arneson

Sisyphos

"What's the bar's name? Sisyphos Nightclub Tell us where the bar is: Hauptstraße 15, 10317 Berlin, Germany Service info: All visitors must pay an entrance fee, which is generally around 15 euros. If there’s a well-known DJ lineup, or a more popular weekend party, the entry fee shoots up to around 20-25 euros. There are standard well cocktails, averaging around 10 euros, and chilled beers spanning 6-8 euros. While they have an ATM inside, bring cash in case you need it for the door—and of course, to avoid any unnecessary fees. What is the latitude and longitude of this location? 52.4930° N, 13.4912° E Summarize the place: You might be familiar with the mythical Greek tale of Sisyphus— who was condemned with a punishment to roll a gigantic boulder on a hill for his entire existence. Sisyphos, in Lichtenberg, of southeast Berlin, has received this name as a testament to a different kind of eternal bound: to never-stop partying. It’s a bit off the beaten path from other popular nightlife hubs in the city, but it’s accessible via tram, bus, and really any kind of local transportation. Its entrance, with plated gates of large kissing ducks, is open all weekend (from 10 p.m. on Friday to Mondays at 8 a.m.), and the queue’s wait time can be a few minutes or a few hours. Like many Berlin nightclubs, bouncers judge you at the front door, and there is no rhyme or reason to why you may or may not get in. Sometimes you might be dressed too dark, sometimes too colorful. When I was waiting in the queue, I was told by the stranger in front of me to not have “my look wear me—do exactly the opposite.” Though your patience might be tested, it’s best to keep your cool—if you’re rejected, this space is one to come back and try again. Sisyphos opened back in 2008 inside an abandoned dog biscuit factory. Blossoming into a carnivalesque techno haven for locals and tourists alike, the industrial complex is vast and unusual. Upon entry, the bouncer places a sticker on your phone cameras to protect the space’s underground nature. From there, immediately, you can tell that this isn’t just any other night club. You’ll walk into a cozy garden with a lake that replicates a small beach. The entire outdoor space is a tranquil escape, dripping in color with graffiti, art, and light installations. All smack in the middle of this concentric circle, the “yard” is aligned with three indoor dance floors. Hammahalle, the large warehouse main room, is pure magic—especially for music lovers. While genres vary throughout, expect dark techno, electronic, and house—they do not rule out disco or even upbeat funk. The DJ and live music lineups are most diligently curated for Hammahalle, and the sound system replicates that of Berghain, well known for its perfect delivery of bass (A.K.A. “crunchy beats”). Dampfer and Wintergarten are the smaller dance floors, yet carry an unmistaken energy in their brick walls and steel structures. With endless nooks and crannies to explore, even spending an entire weekend in this space might not be long enough. All of these dance floors, though, light up through the days into nights (or vice versa)—transforming from one color to the next, keeping with the rhythm of the music. There’s a feng shui here, and it plays off of the polarity of energies around you. Whether dancing, chowing down a slice of pizza at their food station, or re-energizing at their coffee shop adjacent Hammahalle, which is probably playing a tune by Frank Sinatra— this is the polarity that the (perhaps, enervating) bouncers are working to protect. Surveil your barmates: There’s not just one type of barmate you might cross paths withs at Sisyphos. You'll find a diverse and spirited crowd, ranging from devoted “lovers of the beat” to curious tourists making it part of their Berlin itinerary. Some are seasoned visitors, while others are experiencing it for the first time. Many camp out for the entire weekend, taking breaks at the coffee shop or by the campfire outside to recharge. Thanks to its open design and crowds, Sisyphos fosters this friendly, super unique carnival demeanor. So whether on the dance floor or sitting by the small lake, even if you're strangers, you'll often find yourself engaging with others— friendly glances, hugs and sweet embraces, or breaking out into random dance moves. As an understatement, Sisyphos’ scene is vibrant and eclectic, with a lot of spontaneous and heartfelt dancing—from lightly swaying to rigid club moves (depending on the track, of course). Watching a performance, you can tell that the artists performing are passionate about shape shifting and curating an immersive atmosphere for those on the dance floor. The club is often described as the "Alice in Wonderland" or an "adult Disney" of nightclubs for its colorful whimsy, in contrast to the typical image of Berlin clubbers in all-black attire. The drinks themselves: Similar to many other nightclubs in Berlin, Sisyphos is not a swanky cocktail scene—nor more of a beer joint. They mostly serve standard cocktails or cups of beer in clear cups or red solo?. If you’re in the mood for something weird or new, you can always ask for recommendations from the bartender. They might be able to whip something up that you’ve never tried before. Otherwise, it’s pretty much all about the vodka sodas and gin and tonics here. For non-alcoholic drinks, head to the calming and cozy café for a latte or espresso. While it’s completely surreal that this space exists, it does wonders for those who are looking for a step away from the outside chaos. From neon lights and ground-shaking bass, the café mirrors a homey-cottage from the outside. With golden-hued lights, soft classics on the stereo, and dusty red painted walls— the space is the most quaint and welcoming haven in the club. All of their drinks are the easiest to enjoy on their large couch, where strangers usually bond with huge smiles planted on their faces. Bar eats: Given that some folks stay the entire weekend, the club makes it easy to recharge and nourish. Especially in the summer months, Sisyphos hosts food trucks or stalls of street food options—including burgers, loaded fries, falafel wraps, tacos, and other quick bites. There’s a pizza stand that’s open the entire weekend, day through night, with vegetarian and vegan options as well. What impression did the bar staff make? While some bouncers are said to be cold and rude, especially when rejecting a group after hours of waiting, the staff is efficient and maintains a safe, protected club environment. The bartenders are quick on their feet—and keep up with large crowds that make large messes. It’s surprisingly tidy at the counters, and they’ll look after you if you’ve had too much to drink. Don’t make a habit of doing so, though. At the end of the day, and assuming it's worth the stop, what's this place good for? Sisyphos is Berlin's ultimate playground of freedom and creativity. With its versatility, open-air spaces, and endless depths to explore, the club is multi-sensory, captivating, and really, just unreal. While you’ll never quite know if you'll get in, if you do, it's a place where you can feel completely yourself, yet also get delightfully lost in its expansiveness. Head there for a chance to embrace freedom and connection, music and art, and a perfectly weird essence of Berlin’s club scene. Would you send someone here to impress a client, or win a heart? Catch up with old friends, or catch the World Cup? Or does it simply make the best Old Fashioned in the city? If you’re heading to Sisyphos, be open and kind to those around you—do not be a lousy tourist. End the night at Hammahalle, and soak in the sun outside of Wintergarten. Let your guard down, dance the night away. Sit by the fire and chat with strangers. Learn their stories, share some of your own! Treat the space like a carnival, and perhaps a sense of childlike wonder will return back to you for the weekend." - Krystin Arneson

The queue is so long We had to wait under the sun and the weather was so hot ( 1 hour) The place is beautiful, different stages But they all play hard techno music They should play different types of music Some of the stages are extremely hot with very bad air circulation It’s nice to visit the “famous sysphos” but I wouldn’t come back again, it’s not worth the waiting outside

It’s very touristy, yet can deliver a good party if you are searching for the club experience. It’s kinda like a mini festival. I don’t recommend to go on a Saturday night because it’s truly packed, which is not the nicest experience, also music is very mainstream. Better to go on a Sunday afternoon.

It's a spectacular location. We came from Hamburg for an open-air show and had a very pleasant day. The drinks were cool and the staff was very friendly. We'll be back many times!

Sunday 06.07.2025, around 15:00. Me and two friends tried to get in but we got denied. They didn't even check our bags or anything. We were wearing good clothing (ok for both the city or a club), nothing too wild. - There is nothing about particular dressing rules or age on their website. - There is literally a paper in the queue saying that they want everyone to have fun, don't care about origins, etc., which is basically what Berlin is, right ? A city where anyone can be what they wanna be. - We asked the lady why we couldn't get in, but we were answered so rudely, without any reason. We weren't doing drugs, not smoking, not speaking loudly, we were not drunk... We just wanted to know what was wrong, so that we could eventually make it better for the next time. Unfortunately, I guess we will never know. Anyway, now, even if we were invited, we wouldn't want to come. To the lady which denied our entry, I genuinely hope things will get better in your life; it should not be normal to be this mean to others.

One of my favorite ever clubbing experiences! Everyone inside, from the party goers to the staff, were respectful, friendly and genuinely happy to be there. Good prices, sprawling facility with lovely chill out areas, amazing decor and even better music. Yes it’s a club so don’t expect the toilets to be hotel grade or the pizza to be gourmet. Music’s gonna be loud, that’s the whole point. The negative reviews on here are only keeping away the negative clubbers anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️

The vibe, atmosphere, and music were absolutely amazing – truly a great experience overall. However, I was surprised and concerned to notice a number of pickpockets and thieves on the dance floor. I became aware of it because I was wearing sunglasses and could clearly observe what was happening around me. I really hope the security team takes stronger precautions against such individuals. It would be great if those people could be identified and permanently banned from the venue.

I got invited by a befriended DJ, which means I got to skip the massive line. The staff at the door were strict and acted like I was supposed to know the etiquette. I didn't, but they were patient with me when they realised I'm not a frequent visitor. The music was brilliant, the location beautiful but incredibly crowded, the bar staff is in no rush at all but rather chooses to be steady, but hey, they are friendly. The atmosphere is amazing, the audience diverse the different areas have different kinds of vibes but it's all electronic music. It's a must see if you can somehow manage to get in when there's not such a long line

I've been to this club around 5-6 times now, and I must say, I never truly felt comfortable or welcome here — mainly due to the staff. The door personnel, in particular, are a serious issue. Their attitude is consistently unfriendly, and they manage to create an uninviting atmosphere the moment you arrive. Instead of setting the tone for a good night, they give you the feeling you're not wanted. During bag checks, I’ve experienced dismissive comments about what I was carrying — nothing dangerous or forbidden, just unnecessary, rude remarks. The communication is often random, lacking any sign of respect or professionalism. At the bar, we weren’t given our change back, and when we asked about it, the reaction was oddly surprised, as if fairness was an afterthought. As for the music, while the lineup is obviously a matter of taste, the sound level has at times been surprisingly low — not what one would expect from a venue that positions itself as a place for immersive experiences. One positive aspect I’ll acknowledge is that you can tell the club is evolving — there are noticeable changes and improvements to the physical space. But sadly, that alone can’t compensate for the atmosphere created by the staff. I'm honestly relieved I no longer feel the need to return. Especially when I see guests waiting 4–5 hours in line only to be turned away arbitrarily — it's hard to justify that level of tolerance. To each their own, but personally, I’ve had enough.

Yelp
I hate leaving bad reviews on Yelp and never have done so before. Please know that the guy at the door here was so cruel. He enjoyed being mean to us. This place is based on a Burningman vibe? Ha!Please. We live in San Francisco, we have worked at Burningman, have gone there for years, and are actually very close to the staff. We work in a similar industry of live music (with actual real, nice, hippies), and at Burningman you would NEVER encounter negativity there like the tall mean bouncer at the door at this place, claiming to be a hippie, ha! It is our first night in Berlin and this is such a welcome. I will be practicing compassion for these people as they 'judge a book by its cover' This really enforces separation in our society and the non-acceptance of someone who doesn't look or dress like you. Hippie 101: this is the opposite of any real, actual hippie values. Don't claim to be a hippie - you are making us look bad

Rachel R.

Yelp
terrible place. we waited over 2 hours and were not let in for no reason

Yelp
They said no Jews. Nazi fucks. We walked up the guy said no and we said why and he said no Jews. Am I supposed?

Yelp
Dirty and whimsical, Sisyphos is like Alice in Wonderland meets Detroit? Maybe it's the abandoned sticker-bombed van that takes my mind to Detroit, and the mini creek and fairy disco lights that makes me think of Alice... Over one weekend, I got into the club two times out of three (the second time, the line was way too long and my group bailed). My stamp from the Friday night was honored Sunday evening, so shower gingerly if you enjoy paying reduced cover (15 euro initially, and then 5 for re-entry). The staff here are a little nicer and less intimidating than the guys at Berghain, but I think the overall lack of showing positive emotions is a largely German thing. Additionally, if you don't speak German, hand the first bouncer your phone for stickering, and ID if they ask. Get patted down in the second room, pay your cover fee, show your stamp to the last doorperson, and stroll through the final eingang into Sisy. At the beginning of the weekend, only three rooms seemed to be open (tech house, darker house, and disco) and then closer to Sunday/Monday, an additional room opens up to play more tech-house, as well as the rooftop bar behind the abandoned van. Sisyphos has plenty of places to sit and chill if you're getting tired of rotating around the rooms. Stay past sunrise, or leave whenever you please. Bathrooms are grungy and unisex. Toilets are awkwardly high or maybe I'm just terribly short... Lastly, if you're a germaphobe, don't come sober, pack napkins and hand sanitizer, and leave your worries at home.

Yelp
My favourite place for some 5AM hummus! The kitchen never closes and is serving a large variety of food. Get your granola, pizza, vegan stew or hot dog whenever you want! The prices are fair. Quality is legit. Lovely outdoor seatings. They also have a cozy coffee house where you can warm up with hot drinks while having a slice of cake. Not giving 5 stars because their line gets ridiculous around 1AM - 4AM. Waiting here for 2h is not rare. Either get in before 10:00PM and enjoy your after work drinks or show up after 5AM.

Yelp
Amazing family fun center! Probably the best place to bring the kids. They absolutely love it!! Huge outdoor playground with plenty of fun things to climb and explore for the children. The music is high energy and will wear out even the most rambunctious. Even inside there are cool places for the kids to find.. in the main dancefloor there is a secret spaceship cockpit exhibition to discover. My son Brad loved it!! There's also a great pizza stand for when you need a bite. And the people here are so kind! Made lots of new playdates for the kids. Open all weekend...could easily stay a couple days with help from vitamins! If you are on a family trip in Berlin this is not to be missed.

Yelp
One of the most interesting clubs that I've been to. There's a big outdoor area with all this unique stuff including abandoned vehicles, bonfire, treehouse, chairs made out of boulders, mattresses, etc etc There's 2 dance floors (one of which is pretty tiny). The entrance to the main one is borderline scary... You walk through this freaky hallway with weird lighting. Then the dance floor itself looks like it is inside some abandoned building. There is a lot of seating available. Music is excellent. Main floor was playing some dark techno and tech house. Crowd was really into it. Smaller second floor was playing funky house. Also has a food vendor selling pizza slices, hot dogs, etc Drinks are reasonable. Note that the deposit on the beer bottles is 0.5 euros. The sign indicating that is in German. Cover was 10 on the night we went.

Yelp
Love this place. After a lot of back and forth on where to go out to dance with friends we opted for Sisyphos after receiving it as a recommendation from a friend. Entry was around 13 Euros, and the people at the door a tad little bit hipster obnoxious, but once you're inside you really don't care. P.S.There's a few different rooms and outdoorsy areas for when it's not raining out!

Rose C.

Yelp
Love this place. Great live band room and the rest techno. Freeing atmosphere. Definitely go to this venue if you want to forget about life for a while.

Yelp
If you want a taste of Berlin nightlife, Sisyphos is a great place to start. This huge complex offers several rooms, bars, and even an outdoors "chill out" area with some sort of mini lake and a bridge. I wish I had taken pictures, since I know how weird this description may sound :) But anyway, as most clubs in Berlin, it's kinda filthy. You go out with sand in your shoes, on your clothes, and a terrible headache from electro music. And still, you wanna go back for the cheap drinks, awesome people, and because you can dance all day long since it's open till very late!
google avatar

Yelp
Good club, the main techno dance floor is perfect if you are on mdma or es (very good sound system, dark, a lot of smoke and nice light effects) half of people inside are on somthing, Entry was 10 euros there is places to rest and chill out, there was a camp fire outside if u wanna see the sun rise (if there is sun off-course), mixed toilets, one said it is more of a music festival than a club (i approve) If your more into getting drunk and picking up women than high zombie dancing i do not recommend this club for you, because of the medium to low quality of women and the drugs ideology, They say the party here is continues for the whole weekend, maybe true because at 9am while i was getting out there was still alot of people and some was entering The closet room stuff are really nice, helped me when i lost my jacket, special thanks to the hippie woman To get in i suggest you be a couple not big group, answer in english if you does not know german, dont care too much about the entry be chilled out and do not over dress! (Probably this helps with lowering the quality of women).

Yelp
Best club to go during the summer. Nice area, nice people, super good music, but a bit in the middle of nowhere. No problem if you have a bike, or get the tram! You can dance, drink, and even get some pizza there!

Yelp
I visited this club back in June of 2015. It was upon recommendation of a friend who lives in Friedrichstrasse - so I knew his judgement would be reliable. We arrived and there was no wait/que at the door. He spoke in German to the staff and in we went. Boy did I expect what was inside!? Amazing out door area with deck chairs and an outside bar. Two rooms to choose from. I loved the dark/concrete room. Such an atmosphere! Wouldn't hesitate going back.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night around 2 am and there was a big ass line. Luckily, we knew our way in so we didn't have to wait for like - what - 1 freakin hour or so. I guess it's a chill place BUT MORE OF A SUMMER TIME SPOT, at least for me. It's more outdoor than indoor so in winter you gonna freeze your ass off. I can imagine having a good time there in July though.

Yelp
Love this place! Got turned away on a Sunday day but had no problem getting on a Friday night. You can leave with your stamp and come back until Monday morning. The crowd is really mixed....not the all black uniform of Berghain. Definitely somewhere to go in the summer. You can buy toothbrushes there if you plan on staying the whole weekend :-)

Yelp
Great place to party all Sunday long. It's a open air beach party. Complete with bar and dj's. opens at noon and is EUR5 entry. Totally worth it.

Yelp
Majestic summer party wonderland with the most amazing garden I have ever seen. Expect bonfires, ponds, abandoned cars, sheds with DJs, cats, mattresses for naps, caravans etc. Definitely my favourite club in Berlin.

Yelp
Great music and atmosphere! Smokey and dark = cozy! I just couldn't stop dancing. I will definitely visit this club again.

Yelp
Very very beautiful location especially on summerdays. Unfortunately i'm not an electro-hipster. Otherwise i would also be able to enjoy the music ;-)

Yelp
Went to a good few clubs in the 5 weeks I spent in Berlin (including Berghain) and I can honestly say Sisyphos was my favourite. A group of us went twice and count both nights as among the best nights out we've ever had. Love the fact that it's so spread out, with a techno warehouse, a house cabin and a chill out cabin beside the outdoor lake where people sit around fires smoking Js and drinking beers. Any time you get tired of one area, you can easily move on to the next which has a different vibe altogether. I would describe it more akin to a festival than a night club!! We went in the winter when it's supposed to not be quite as good as summer, so I can only imagine how good it gets! Highly highly recommended.. Has a community vibe with everyone being very friendly, drinks are cheapish and music is FANTASTIC.
