Where Portland Bartenders Eat and Drink on Their Days Off | Eater Portland

"Much like the brash-yet-charming patriarch of The Sopranos, this relatively new Interstate endeavor from the team behind Swift Lounge is a fascinating puzzle. The front door’s in the back, the back room’s in the front, and despite the low-key tavern look, the menu features a dozen Italian restaurant classics, from baked ziti to gabagool. “It’s the kind of place where everyone will talk to you,” says Allie, who came up in the Tampa club scene and currently holds down the bar at Lombard’s Mousetrap Tavern. “It’s just good vibes.”" - Ben Coleman

Get the Picnic Gear Because the World’s Largest Charcuterie Board Is About to Hit Portland | Eater Portland

"I read that BJ Smith just opened a new bar called Sit-Tite at 6214 North Interstate Avenue after a six-month stint at the ultra-buzzy Okta in McMinnville; he's taking things in a new direction with a menu focused on “blue collar East Coast Italian fare.” Think fried calamari, fried ravioli, lots of Parm sandwiches, and stiff drinks—both alcoholic and boozeless." - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
Amazing food that punches way above its weight class! I love the basic cesar salad. Pasta and sauces are great. Little delights like béchamel cheese, good parm, and a delightful pistachio cannoli. Bartenders and staff are lovely and always make you feel welcome. The vibe is causal and laidback. There’s a game room area with pinball and pool. Inside usually has a game on (quietly). The patio is awesome - beautiful tree and lights and covered tables if you want to sit out in the rain. Usually nice music and lively convos happening - making it a perfect local bar

I dropped by this newer spot on a quiet Sunday night with a few friends, curious to see what the buzz was about. Spoiler: it more than lived up to the hype. First off, the food—wow. Every bite was outstanding, bursting with flavor. The kind of meal that leaves you thinking about it long after the plates are cleared. The vibe? Totally unique. Outside, they’ve got a mix of seating areas—some open-air, some under cover, making it perfect whether you want to enjoy the fresh air or stay cozy. Inside, it’s all fun and games—literally. There’s a gaming area complete with a pool table, the classic Ms. Pac-Man, and even a Photo Booth for capturing those spontaneous moments. Whether you’re in it for the food or the cool, laid-back atmosphere, this place is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Google
This is a super fun place to hangout and eat. It has a bit of a dive bar feel which was fun, but the food and service are phenomenal. We got the chicken parm sandwich and the rigatoni in vodka sauce. Both were great. The chicken was so crispy even after sitting in the sandwich for a bit. Also, the vodka sauce was a bit spicy. Beyond that, the drinks were well priced and the staff super nice. I will definitely come back.

Google
Such a good add to this little neighborhood. Walking distance from my house. The garlic cheese bread was delicious. Love the fresh basil added to the food. Harvey came out & turned the heaters on for the patio for us. The service was very good, & the food was delicious. Love that there is a pool table & pin ball machines! Definitely will be back.

Google
i’m a simple person and only review businesses based on four things: the people, the service/product, if there is a pool table, and if there are meatballs. my report on the sit tite establishment is the following: top tier people, top tier service, top tier pool table, top tier meatballs

Google
Inviting bar, delicious well-made food. Great outdoor space, cozy seating area inside with a big screen TV, and a game room with one pool table, pinball, video games and a Photo Booth. Sounds like the outdoor space is getting a good sized covered area before winter hits. The food was delicious. We had the meatball parm, the chicken parm and the Caesar salad. The bread on the sandwiches is great; soft and fresh. The meatballs were scrumptious. The texture was perfect and the spices and herbs came through with gusto! If 24th & Meatballs had flavor like that they’d still be open. The chicken parm was also noteworthy. The chicken was super juicy and flavorful. Caesar salad has a great dressing, love the chop on the lettuce and the crunchy crouton crumbles are amazing. I would buy a bag of them to sprinkle on all my foods. The table next to us had a few of the pasta dishes and they looked super yummy. The back outdoor space is super relaxing and comfortable. Very inviting. ADA accessible entrance. Parking can be difficult in that area.

Google
Hidden gem alert! Sit Tite totally blew me away. I had the penne pasta with a chicken cutlet—so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The garlic bread was next-level (seriously, I’d come back just for that), and the Caesar salad? A total dream—crisp, creamy, and delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try more. Highly recommend!

Google
Great chicken parm, tasty cocktails, friendly folks working the counter, and great seating either indoor or outside. My favorite cocktail was the smoke out confessional 🍒 Love love love all the pinball machines in here! I used to play alot when I was younger, so I always love seeing a good variety of machines at a bar. Also shout-out to the vegan meatball parm cuz that was quite tasty as well and I love that they have some options for folks.

Yelp
Such a cool spot! Their vibe and energy are amazing. They got a photobooth, pinball machines, inside and outside seatings, and hella good food and drinks at reasonable prices. What more could you ask for. We sat outside on a sunny day and it's so perfect. Also got the Fried Lasagna to try and it's handsdown the best lasagna I've ever had. The marinara sauce, for once, is well-balanced and refreshing. The Chop Salad was also good with tasty chickpeas and citrusy vinegrette. We also tried the Proscuitto & Burrata Sandwich with a side of Fries. Sandwich was great. The combo of burrata, balsamic, and proscuitto doesn't miss! Fresh Dos Hermanos bread as well. The Fries were well-seasoned, hot, and crispy. Went perfectly with the Calabrian Chilli Aioli. These are some of the most highend bar food we've had. Definitely will be back for more. For drinks, they have both standard beers and wines as well as house cocktails. The Johnny Sack was nice and strong.

Yelp
The food is great! I had fried lasagna was like a giant mozzarella stick. The breading was perfect asmr crispy. The cheese bread nice punch of garlic and the mozzerella sticks super cheesy. The place was overall great vibes. The staff friendly and the food came out quickly even though they were busy.

Yelp
Dive bar meets lounge, and has a game room baby. Super-casual, kinda hip but also downbeat in that melancholy Portland kinda way, with a better than average house cocktail list and an Italian-flavored menu. It's an oddly tight layout on the main floor (as you walk in) where the bar is, but go down to the next level - a few steps - and things open up. More room and light in here, and as this is the game room, you get a full size pool table and a row of retro pinball machines lined up on the other wall. It's a cool setup. Drinks are solid, food is not bad and ambiance is nightlife-y, but low key. I had the Chicken Parm sandwich - a mouthful of good flavors, what with the fonduta cheese sauce and nice spices - but word on the street is that the pasta is also really legit. Service is good, and there's also a big-ass back patio that will no doubt be awesome on summer nights. Beware Boomers: younger crowd here. A good spot to start the evening, but I wouldn't spend all night here.

Yelp
I've been thinking about the chicken parm I had here for weeks. Bartender was super cool and the vibe here is great, can't wait to go back

Yelp
I love myself some chicken parm sandwich so when I read about this place knew I had to try it. We got there on a Friday night right before 6 pm and just beat the rush. You order and pay at the bar then take your number to a table. It gets a bit crowded if there is a line. They have inside seating with TVs, pinball and a pool table. It's a bit loud. Outside the have music from speakers but easier to talk. Maybe 12 tables or so in a very large area. We asked about the sandwich size and with the charcuterie plate he thought sharing a chicken parm should be fine. The plate had some Italian ham which had some heat and another type of meat, generous cheese and some olives and pickled stuff. Okay now the sandwich. First I wish I had a whole one to myself. I would have skipped sharing the other plate. It's messy but the sauce has flavor, lots of basil and the bread was crunchy (but did fall apart as noted got messy) it didn't matter. The sandwich was great with the right balance of cheese, sauce, chicken and basil. I saw a plate of fries and it was HUGE. I would want a large group to order that. All reasonably priced just wish they had opened in the summer as I think it will be too crowded and small when it rainy and cold. Oh and fun drinks. I had a watermelon fresca that didn't have alcohol but the other real cocktails looked good too. I will be back when my chicken parm craving hits again. Also the New Seasons right next door is handy for dessert.

Yelp
This was a hidden gem we found craving some good food and to play some board/card games. We walked into a dimly lit bar set up with pinball machines and pool table. The vibe was relaxed and felt chill without trying too hard. It was raining (typical Portland) so we couldn't explore the beautiful patio, but I'm sure it's aces in the summertime. Inside we were helped by Paul, the bartender who was super helpful pointing out his favorite dishes he recommended and what we should order next when we come back. Which we definitely said we would be! Run don't walk, Sit Tite is a true vibe.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Food was extremely good and service was 10/10. We had fun playing games at our table after we ate dinner but my only complaint would be that it was too dark to see well and EXTREMELY loud. Most of the tables were full but I wouldn't say the place was packed so I can't even imagine the volume when it is packed. Still, we had a good time playing pool in the lower area where the lighting is better and it's a little less loud. A few people were using their cell phone flashlights to be able to see what they were eating. It's that dark.

Yelp
So fun and cute !! The customer service was great definitely one of my fave spots in pdx

Mike P.

Yelp
Nice pool table. Well maintained pinball machines. 75 cents for three balls though. Caesar salad dressing was poor. Lettuce was not wilty, croutons were good. I'm sure the dressing came from a bulk carton. Chicken on the Caeser seemed like a frozen patty of chicken like substance with glued on bread crumbs, pre made by Cisco and deep fried too long. Garlic cheese bread was terrible. Lots of some kind of goop squirted on top and the cheese was added afterwards and not melted. It's pretty hard to screw up garlic bread. People were nice and the outdoor seating was a pleasant surprise. Very nice in the back. Unexpectedly nice back there. Good place for beers if you aren't eating anything.

Yelp
Fantastic. Food and ambiance are top notch. A great place to eat, hangout and play some pinball.

Yelp
WAS NOT EXPECTING To HAVE AN OVERALL PERFECT NIGHT. We're driving down in North Portland. Thought we stopped and get something to eat somewhere saw this place online. Their menu looks good. Their Photos looks good so we decided to stop. We are not from the area and we try as many different and unique places that we find. I've reviewed hundreds of establishments, from fine dining to dive bars. From the minute we walked in the door and cozied up to the bar, we were immediately approached by the bartender, Harvey. He was engaging and informative. We couldn't believe it was so polished as at that time it had only been open 4 months. (Late review add 6 months or so). The layout was ideal for a quiet dinner or a lively game of pool or pinball or hanging to watch a game on the big screen. It was even equipped with a Photo Booth to capture the moment. Thats all fun and all BUT WHAT ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT WAS the FOOD! This is NOT YOUR AVERAGE MEATBALL OR CHICKEN PARM SANDWICH and Let us not forget the FRIED lasagna! This SHIT IS THE SHIT! Damn I wish I had a more polite way to express. EUGENE, one of the Chefs and John nailed it! Apparently the Head Chef is BJ Smith and was on the 14th season of TOP CHEF. Considering we are older than the average norm, we felt very comfortable with the environment. We were awestruck with the food and top notch customer service. Just as we were leaving as a token of our patronage we were gifted cannolis to go! Yum! We rate this as overall "BEST OF NOPO/PDX"!

Yelp
I'm in town visiting from California. This atmosphere was a great balance. Inside was a small bar, tables, pin ball machines, and a pool table. We sat outside with a quiet atmosphere with heaters. It was a walk up and order service that was fairly quick. The food was really good and unexpected for "bar food." We shared the garlic bread, pasta and Cesar salad with three people. The Carmela drink was Sooooooo good too. Love this place and the environment it had.

Yelp
Food is really delicious; the drinks are good. Love the outside dining and the location. Bartenders are better looking than they should be. Glad to have this gem in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Picked up ravioli takeout from here & really liked the red sauce raviolis were cooked in. Clearly a "from scratch" recipe-- it had sliced carrots in it. It tasted like the kind your mom makes if she's a good cook, not the kind you'd expect from a restaurant. So, definitely checked the comfort food box. Cheese filled raviolis were tasty too. I ordered a meatball to accompany & it was dry & wouldn't have ordered if I'd known it would be that way. I will try another time to confirm if this is usual or a one off & then decide if I'll order just the ravioli solo. Pretty impressed with the flavors.

Megan C.

Yelp
Food was outstanding and the bartender was super friendly. Vibes were divey which is right up our alley, it was a very low key and delicious date night location!

Carson D.

Yelp
music is great! the staff is super friendly. there's a pool table, some pinball machines, a cute photo booth (costs $6 for 2 strips with 4 photos) and the food is delicious!! They also have some board games :) The varsity athlete cocktail was delicious, but the rigatoni was a hit!

Yelp
Date night on a Tuesday night led us here.. we heard about this place on Instagram and book marked it. Low key neighborhood bar/restaurant, vibe was chill, R&B music, big screen TV, pinball, pool table. Walked inside and only 3-4 people. We walked up to the bar, ordered drinks and then the food... baked ziti with chunks of Italian sausage and tons of cheese, Caesar salad, regular fries sprinkled with chili flakes and aioli sauce, fried mozzarella sticks and marinara sauce. While sitting there enjoying our dinner, more people started packing in, music got better, drinks were pouring. I hate sharing spots I want to keep a secret just for us, but I love to support locals!

Yelp
A welcome addition to the restaurant desert that is North Interstate but it could use some fine-tuning. I ordered an Italian meatball sandwich and (this will sound fussy but it's actually practical) they cut the entire bun in half so all of the filling fell out bite after bite. If they had sliced the bun 3/4 of the way through and made a pocket for the filling it would have been a much better "sandwich experience" instead of a big sloppy mess. A pickle or a couple of pepperoncini on the side would be a nice touch, too, considering it's a $14 sandwich. That said, it was was tasty and the ingredients seemed to be of good quality but it's not a place I'll frequent - it's a bar scene with sports on a huge tv screen, a pool table, pinball machines and music blasting, so don't go if you want a chill place or a quiet meal with conversation.
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
Cool casual spot with delicious pasta, cold beer, cocktails, pool and pinball! Great music and good vibes. Right next to New Seasons. Bring quarters for pinball, the change machine is on the fritz.
google avatar

Shaun M.

Yelp
Came here at 10:50 to get a sandwich for sandwich week. The hours say the close at 12am. I was informed the bar closes a hour before close, even though their website says that they do happy hour from 11pm-close and lists sandwiches and fries on the happy hour menu. I don't care what your hours are, but if I check on the site, and I not only see you close at midnight, but that you offer a happy hour past 11pm, and I drive out here and you won't serve me at 10:50, then what the hell are we doing here? What's the magic time? 10:45? 10:30? Kinda sucks because I was really looking forward to trying this place and getting a vibe, their menu looks great but not if I have to guess when the kitchen will be open when they're open.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Cesar salad and the fries are delicious but the sandwiches are not the move which is very disappointing. Bread was soggy. Very messy. Sandwich falls apart while eating. Chicken parm not even sauce. Sausage n pepper's sandwich is way too salty. Also very over priced. Honestly Jersey Mike's get you better sandwich.

Gabe S.

Yelp
This place was great from start to finish. The workers were extremely friendly and gave solid recommendations on menu items to get with enthusiasm. The cocktails were pricey but tasted good! The food was so awesome that we had no leftovers after. They have a cool inside with pinball, pool, and music. Great place to come hang out with friends and have a drink or some food if you're hungry. They have an outdoor area with heaters as well. I would recommend this place to anyone. Very casual and young vibe.

Mia B.

Yelp
That was an amazing experience overall. The food was way better than I anticipated even having read reviews. The service was great and fast. Including getting both our food order and drink. They play great music and a great place to hang out for a fun night out or even just a dinner stop. Ambiance 10/10. Loved it will be coming back, and excited to stop in during the summer because the outdoor area looks like it'd be a great place to hangout.

Edgar G.

Yelp
5 stars!!! I'd do 10 if i could! Originally went in for the fried lasagna but they were out of it due to the popularity of it. So i went with the spaghetti and meatballs added a couple extra meatballs and man !!! By far the best Italian I've had in Portland in a long long time ! Late night menu is still delicious no need to settle for fast food, pull up to Sit Tite !

Ysabella W.

Yelp
incredible spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parm sandwich. even through delivery it was fresh

Yelp
Came in on a busy Saturday night. Great service and great food/drink. Highly recommend!! They also have pinball, a photobooth, and a pool table. Excited to come back again.

Jason H.

Yelp
Great staff, excellent food, awesome neighborhood bar. Pinball and pool table always a plus.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stopped in this new neighborhood spot last night - it is a great addition to the area. I got a meatball sub and she had the chicken parm - both were delicious. The cocktails also hit the spot. The best part of this place is the vibe. Everyone working there is the type of person you want to hang out with - just really great energy. We will be back for sure.

cosmo k.

Yelp
Don't know why my chicken parm sando came with pesto. Not a fan. Much better with marinara
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
Incredible food! The fonduta fries, mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad, chicken parm sandwich are all insanely addictive. The cocktails are all excellent and the staff are fantastic humans.

Nick N.

Yelp
Great food awesome place for real fun time later in the evening too, there's also pool and 6 pinball machines!

S B.

Yelp
Do you have an Italian grandmother who loves you unconditionally? I don't but when I eat here it's not hard to imagine I do. Simply the best BY FAR old school Italian probably on the entire West Coast. Hyperbole? Eat there and let me know if I'm wrong. And I grew up in Philadelphia so I know my Italian food yo. Start with the sausage and peppers sandwich and thank me later.

Lauren W.

Yelp
This place was INCREDIBLE! Loved the ambiance, great service, and the food was delicious! The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They also had a great playlist going on while we were there. Can't wait to visit again soon and in the summer. Thank you for a great time!

Tom A.

Yelp
I really want this place to succeed but they're gonna have to step up their game to get our repeat business. The pasta bolognese was mediocre at best. My chicken parm was ok, but would have been better with more red sauce. I hope they can improve their game as they hit their stride. I'll give them another try.

Hannah D.

Yelp
This is now my favorite spot in Portland. I am from the East Coast and this is the type of food I miss. This place is so great and the ambiance I love. I will be coming back multiple times.

Matthew A.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious chicken parm and meatball sandwich. Super excited to have this place in NoPo!

Jezreel R.

Yelp
Food was delicious and service was great. Love the cozy atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating.

Julie W.

Yelp
Awesome new neighborhood bar with a spacious back patio and some amazing East Coast style Italian Americana classics, one of the best chicken parm sandos I've had since leaving Philly. And the fried ravioli really brought me home.
