"The name refers to this restaurant’s location – perched on the sixth floor of the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts and affording brilliant views of the River Tyne. Formerly the Rank Hovis flour silo, before being transformed into a gallery in the 1990s, the building is an imposing and eye-catching presence in the city. A set menu comes in ‘Land and Sea’ and ‘Plant’ formats, delivering colourful dishes that are generous in both size and flavour, using fine produce like Portland crab and Dexter beef." - Michelin Inspector

Had the privilege of the chefs table. Incredible food and service. All chefs produced their own course. We did the 9 course taster menu. Carlson the chef was great and super interactive and great fun. Loved it. Best ever. Top night and well worth it.

My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary, tried out the tasting menu, it was amazing! I enjoyed every dish even the cheese course as I am not a cheese board fan. Staff are all very friendly, views at Six are amazing! Would highly recommend!

We only went there as we were intrigued by the building, we noticed the view point, so decided to check it out. As we entered the young girl on the front desk was so helpful, she gave a leaflet and explained everything about the place. So as was explained by the young girl we started at the top and worked our way down. We started at the viewing point, which was spectacular, worked our way down some floors wasn't our taste but were interesting. These floors were exhibitions. We didn't have time to visit every floor unfortunately. So question is again would I go back? I think I would as it was interesting and it's free to enter.

I’m very been here in the past & it was nice, over all we had a lovely evening, the food was really interesting & well cooked & presented, the wine was not chilled & our lovely friendly waitress went away & chilled it with another ready to go should we have ordered a 2nd bottle (which we did). The venue could really do with a good shoosh, it doesn’t have that quality feel about it & at £320.00 for two I’d expect table cloths at the very least. They have the food & service spot on but the venue is way overdue a good remodel for the prices they are charging.

Fabulous. If we could give six stars we would. Staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was fabulous and just enough to leave you wanting a mouthful more. Great view from lounge bar and ladies toilet. Hard to know what we enjoyed the most but the beef and bread courses were both brilliant. If we lived locally we would be a regular.

Terrible, worst evening meal taster menu ever. Service was great thanks to Madeline. The food apart from the desert was awful. Change the menu, this one does not work. The flavour combinations are just plain wrong. Why ruin a perfectly good oyster by drowning it in Limoncello? Stop charring / burning your scallops it makes them bitter and inedible etc etc , yuk!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant - as soon as we walked out of the lift, the two members of staff looked after us superbly. The food was excellent, the service was second to none and the restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend and we will definitely go back there next time we're in Newcastle. Thank you to the staff for a lovely day ❤️

Yelp
Gorgeous restaurant that promises fantastic views and yet... most of the best views (towards the river) are blocked and only available in the little room by the bar? Odd choice. The tasting menu was overall very good but uneven -- for example, the mackerel and sirloin were fantastic but the millefeuille was pretty average. Nothing was bad, however. Service was a bit uneven for a place of this price point and ambition (after all, they do keep mentioning being on the Michelin guide). Our server was confused by my wine bottle order and I had to correct her. Then she mixed up one of the wine pairings for one of our dinner companions, who opten for the pairing for each item on the tasting menu. And at some point throughout the evening, they just stopped collection our empty glasses so our table got cluttered. I still had a good experience overall, and I enjoyed my meal other than the dessert, but I would've expected a bit better service for a place of this caliber.

Yelp
**June 2022: Friday Dinner** Work treated me and my colleagues to several restaurants, but THIS one was my all around favorite. 1) The view of the river was stunning! The restaurant is at the top of the building with windows from all directions. Even the restroom (the sink area, not the actual WC) had a nice view of the river/city. 2) The food was so elegant and presented as art - yet everything was very tasty. I enjoyed everything and the quantity and quality was perfect for my three course meal. and 3) Service was prompt and refilled our glasses often. For my meal I had the following: Starter: Mushroom Tartare Beverage: Frenchiess (Raspberry, Vanilla, Lime Apple Mocktail) Entree: Pork Dessert: Chocolate Mouse Honestly, this would be a great date location and/or a celebration meal for a graduation, promotion etc or if you're just wanting a good meal with a beautiful view a on regular Wednesday - It's a great spot! Enjoy!

Yelp
I dined at Six on Wednesday for my sister's graduation meal and I loved it! I haven't really eaten in any fancy restaurants before so I was a bit nervous about going but it turned out to be a fabulous experience! I didn't really fancy any of the appetisers, so I just sipped my drink while the other people in my party ate theirs. To drink I had a Victorian Lemonade by Fentimans which was as good as ever and was served in an ice cold bottle, although I do think they could tone down the pretentiousness a bit. I can pour my own lemonade thank you very much! For my main course, I had a chicken leg (named some weird posh thing) with mashed potatoes and green beans, which was tasty and VERY filling despite the tiny portion size. There was also a little sauce pot of onion gravy which I didn't really use much of. The chicken was also accompanied by a nice mango sauce which provided a sweet twist to it. For dessert, everybody had their speciality cheesecake with lime sorbet which was amazing! The sweetness of the ginger biscuit accompanied by the tartness of the lime was a very eclectic combination and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Another thing that I loved about Six were the toilets! They were very clean and had plenty of soap and towels, and had huge windows overlooking the river and our hotel. Whenever we got back into our room, I'm pretty sure I could see into the men's room from our room! If I did have one complaint it would be that the waitresses acted a bit snobbish by the way they presented the wine and were always lingering by our table waiting for someone to finish their meal so they could collect their plate. If you are completely stuffed and are going somewhere after, like a bar, the glass lift down to street level acts as a great way to throw up your food because of the great speed it goes! ;) I had a good experience dining at Six and I will probably return. The only thing that puts me off is the price! (£120 for the five of us!) But there is always the coffee shop bit at the front. Hmm...

Yelp
My wife and l came to New Castle on vacation. We were on the prowl for a nice restaurant with vegan options, which is often hard to find. We found this wonderful place near our hotel that offers an entire vegan tasting menu, so we just had to try it. The views and wait staff were exceptional, and the ambiance had no shortcomings either. While everything else seemed to be in place, the food was not as great as we had hoped. We imagine if you have created an entirely vegan menu, then you would have enough creativity to serve more than just one featured vegetable on each dish. We were wrong. They still earn four stars for quality.

Yelp
Six at Home: My boyfriend and I wanted to do something special for our anniversary and since we couldn't go out we decided to buy a 3 course meal each from Six at the Baltic. Six prepare the food for you and you finish off the cooking at home. It was absolutely amazing! The food was unbelievable. So much better than a regular takeaway - there's no comparison! The instructions were really easy to follow and it genuinely tasted like premium quality restaurant food. At first I thought the instructions might be a bit overwhelming but once we got going we realised it was pretty impossible to mess it up. Each course came together pretty quickly and actually it was so much fun working it out together. It really added to the experience. It was clearly so carefully and thoughtfully put together. Everything was considered, from the the easy to follow instructions right down to the greaseproof paper you needed to cook one of the sides. The icing on the cake was the QR code other provided so you could listen to their playlist on Spotify. It was as close as you can get to a beautiful restaurant experience in your own home. It was definitely worth the £24 each we paid for it. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to celebrate a special occasion during the pandemic. We'll definitely be trying out the take home afternoon tea for my birthday next month - and most likely the meal again for valentines day. I really hope Six keep this up even after the pandemic because I love a meal at home on a special occasion and this is such a special experience. Thank you Six!

Yelp
Fantastic from every aspect! I took my mam as a Mother's Day treat and I can't praise this place enough. Everything was fabulous. The view is beautiful. The staff couldn't have been any better so friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic, cucumber sandwiches mm! Every cake was bursting with flavour. I would recommend booking before you go. I can't wait to return for a meal here.

Yelp
if you want to go out for a special meal then this is the place to go, the views (from the bar not necessarily the restaurant depending on where you sit) are beautiful overlooking the tyne. the food is great, its fine dining of course and the menu is really good. best part obviously is for the views and its worth it, it is really nice. a real special place to go.
