The Pursuit of Healthiness at Six Senses

"Outside of Chengdu, it’s in striking distance of two major cultural attractions: the ancient Dujiangyan irrigation system dating to the 3rd century B.C. and Mount Qing Cheng." - Mitchell Friedman

The Pursuit of Healthiness at Six Senses

"Set near the ancient Dujiangyan irrigation system and Mount Qing Cheng, birthplace of Taoism, the resort unfolds like a watercolor of lush greenery, lily‑dotted ponds, pergolas, and wooden pavilions. Suites brim with Chinese‑inspired contemporary furniture; even the smallest spans about 850 square feet, with high ceilings, separate living and sleeping areas, and private balconies, courtyards, or gardens. The spa specializes in updated ancient Chinese therapies, from Tui Na to Gua Sha — the latter can leave small red spots on the skin, but the results are meant to be beneficial." - Mitchell Friedman

Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain (Chengdu, Sichuan Province) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There are the ordinary five senses: hearing, sight, touch, smell, and taste. And then there’s the sixth sense. Perceiving the imperceptible is a tantalizingly mysterious concept: it’s no wonder that it’s inspired filmmakers, poets, musicians, and even hoteliers, like those behind the Six Senses hotels, resorts, and spas. Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain is one of the brand’s newest offerings, and its first in China, strategically located outside Chengdu, near two cultural attractions that bring a steady stream of visitors to the region: the ancient Dujiangyan irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in its own right, and Mount Qing Cheng, better known as the birthplace of Taoism." - Tablet Hotels

Penang's best speakeasy bars - SilverKris

"Hidden behind an anteroom with a Wing Chun dummy—pull a lever and a sliding door reveals a classy, China-inspired cocktail lounge with muted lighting, tasteful furniture and paintings. A tuxedo-clad mixologist mans a towering bottle backdrop and serves inventive drinks such as the Black Diamond, which blends rum, chocolate and bamboo charcoal for a clever, smoky-sweet signature." - Marco Ferrarese

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. We always plan in between an intense vacation schedule one destination where we go just to rest and enjoy nature. This hotel was the perfect choice. It is tranquil, comfortable, spacious, and and the same time there is plenty to do either in the hotel or the surrounding area. In between enjoying the hotel facilities such as the spa and hot springs, we did some guided tours: Red Pandas "Volunteering", Douyangjian, Qingcheng Mountain. Hickey and Himmel were terrific guides, knowledgeable about the area and very entertaining conversationslists. They definitely made our experience more enjoyable. A very special thanks to Maricel, our butler during our stay. She went out of her way to ensure everything was to the best of our expectations. Always available to help, even after we left: I ended up leaving some personal items, she promptly arranged for them to be delivered at our next destination. We definitely would recommend the hotel, and we certainly would consider staying at other Six Senses Resorts on future trips.

Stay in September 2025 – Three Nights at Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain We spent three nights at Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain in September 2025. As this was our first stay at a Six Senses resort, our expectations were accordingly high. The resort itself is spaciously laid out and beautifully nestled within the surrounding landscape. However, many parts of the property show visible signs of aging. Paintwork has faded, and wooden surfaces are weathered – a renovation seems necessary to bring the resort back in line with the standards suggested by its online images and marketing. Our room was spacious and clean. The small panda plush toys left as a welcome gift were a charming touch. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was very disruptive at night, switching on and off every couple of minutes. During turndown service, used towels placed on the floor were not replaced – something that should not happen in a property of this category. Overall, service throughout the resort only partially lived up to the expectations of a five-star hotel. One notable exception was the team at the Thai restaurant, who were attentive, warm, and professional. In contrast, the outdoor pool area lacked any kind of service: guests had to fetch towels themselves, and even basic amenities like water or mosquito repellent – which was clearly needed – were not available, even upon request. Breakfast offered a good selection of international and Chinese dishes. However, the staff in the breakfast area were often inattentive, despite not appearing particularly busy. The coffee was consistently weak and watery, and tea was served in a single large mug. Given the significance of tea culture in China, we had expected a more thoughtful and refined presentation. At check-out, no one inquired about our stay or wished us a pleasant onward journey. Upon request, we were at least given a bottle of water for the trip to the airport. In general, the team gave the impression of focusing more on quick guest turnover rather than delivering a holistic five-star experience. Our conclusion: The resort has great potential and is located in a beautiful setting. However, the current standard does not meet what we expect from Six Senses or a true five-star property. We sincerely hope this experience is not representative of the brand as a whole – our upcoming stay at Six Senses Koh Samui later this year will be a chance to see whether the chain can still live up to its reputation.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Six Sense Qing Cheng Mountain resort! We spent three nights there and honestly wished we could have stayed longer. We were looking for a peaceful and quiet retreat away from city life, and we definitely found it here. The lush green surroundings of the resort coupled with tastefully furnished traditional wooden houses gave us a sense of peace and tranquility. The weather was cool at the beginning of autumn, and we enjoyed taking slow walks around the property. I appreciated all the thought and detail that went into how the resort was run. For example, I loved the sustainability initiatives and the farm-to-table concept at the hotel. There was also effort put into sharing these values with children, such as asking them to harvest eggs in the farm in exchange for tokens to get ice-cream. The resort is also very pet-friendly, and raises funds for an animal shelter in Chengdu city. A few special shout-outs to the amazing staff that left a lasting impression on us: - Our driver Mr Liang Cheng, who picked us up at the airport and gave us such a warm welcome to Chengdu. We enjoyed listening to his stories about life as a local, and the long ride flew by so quickly! - Vanilla Tang from the guest experience team, who patiently attended to all my questions and requests prior to the trip. Thank you for making all the necessary arrangements and giving us good recommendations on things to do. - Our butler, Maricel, who was very attentive to us throughout our stay! She checked in on our needs regularly, and made us feel at home. - The massage therapist, Amy, who was very professional and skillful. The treatments were so good that we went back two days in a row! - The waitress, 赵欢, who always welcomed us during breakfast with a bright smile on her face. We felt utterly spoiled during our stay at Six Senses, and we hope that we can come back again soon! Thank you all for an amazing experience ☺️

Great service from hotel staff. Warm and friendly and remember our preferences within a day of staying on the premises. Our room may have seen better days but it was clean and comfortable. The compound is very lush and was a sanctuary from the bustling tourist attractions. Hotel activities were also great for wet weather. Breakfast spread was good.. Daily fresh fruit variety changes daily with at least 5 types and pastries were good. Would definitely be back.

I had a truly wonderful stay at Six Senses. The hotel is full of life, with little animals like cats, birds, and fish that make the experience so charming. Even in summer, the air feels cool and refreshing, thanks to the lush greenery that makes the whole resort feel so livable and relaxing. There are many unique touches here, you can exchange copper coins for ice cream upon check in, and the wooden interiors throughout the property create a healthy and eco-friendly atmosphere. We also visited the farm, where fruits and vegetables are grown using compost made from the hotel’s food waste. Everything looked so fresh and thriving!

Loved the charity gifts at the entrance as well as the welcome gifts, the warm service and hospitality of the waiters. The hotel is very comfortable and well taken care of, with warm greetings from every staff member who passes by. The rooms have a small gift each night as well as a reminder to go to sleep, very thoughtful and cozy hotel. Thanks help to Vivian, Jason and Robert.

We were thoroughly impressed by the warm hospitality and thoughtful service—especially from our butler, Mark Dong, from the moment we arrived, Mark Dong went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. He prepared child-friendly amenities for our little ones and recommended wonderful family activities that everyone enjoyed. One unforgettable touch was securing us a scenic dining spot with breathtaking mountain views—perfect for savoring local flavors while soaking in the natural beauty.Though our stay was brief, the serene ambiance and Mark’s attentive care made us feel right at home.

Located in mountain area, the room is a bit humid and there are mosquitoes. Yet the staffs have tried their best to make our stay a pleasant one. Ice cream and breakfast are superb. Environment is poetic. The welcome drink is tasty. One thing for improvement is perhaps the turn down service. We stayed for two nights but did not experience any. Other than that, we enjoyed the trip.
