The Best Hotels and Resorts in Koh Samui, Thailand

"One of the most sustainable stays on Samui is on a sloping jungle-clad headland on the island’s northeastern tip. The bamboo walls and high thatched roofs of 66 multi-level villas (most with private pools) give the feeling of staying in a luxe treehouse. The vibe is chic, yet fun: natural wood tones are combined with pops of color from the neon-green and sherbet-yellow cushions and loungers, and staff stroll around in millennial pink and dusty rose linen two pieces. The first is quiet (one of the island’s best and biggest infinity pools), the other buzzier and next to the beach, on a cove shared with neighboring hotels—one of the only clues that you’re on a popular island rather than a remote hideaway. Mornings start with a shot of ‘rocket fuel’ (cider vinegar and citrus) at breakfast, and there’s an excellent menu of mocktails, free ice cream, and several scenic restaurant options, where fragrant curries are served up next to sunset views (although the best views at sunset are from the spa). Little and large guests love the on-site farm, where they can pet and feed a herd of well-preened goats."

Ten Hotels in Thailand With Top-Shelf Design

"Six Senses Samui is hidden away at the end of a raised promontory looking out into the Gulf of Thailand, its 66 villas strewn across 20 acres of lush indigenous growth. The split-level villas are classic island accommodations in every way, decked out in rich local hardwoods, with open-plan bathrooms, outdoor showers, and in most units, infinity-edge pools with unimpeded views out to sea." - Mark Fedeli

Six Senses Samui

"Each of the resort’s 66 villas (originally the Sila Evason Hideaway), which cling to a palm-studded headland above the sea, is a pleasure dome of rustic luxury in polished hardwoods, bamboo, and creamy muslin, all under a soaring thatched roof. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the ever-changing seascape, and bathrooms are decadently kitted out with sunken tubs large enough for four and walls that retract to welcome ocean breezes. All but 14 of the villas have their own small pool, and each has a deck as well as a separate shaded lanai with a giant daybed overlooking the sea. A spa and a slate-lined pool with Gulf of Thailand views round out the list of diversions."

We went for our honeymoon and had a very good time. The staff is lovely and kind. The food is good, though they could have more vegan options. Our only complaint was the construction happening by the pool on our first day. Also, the sewage smell right by the entry to our villa. Besides these issues, which the staff addressed, we enjoyed our stay. It definitely is a good option for a honeymoon. Very romantic and secluded, with lots of areas on the resort to hang out. We loved kayaking on the beach, lounging by the pool, and getting some fancy massages at the spa. Thanks, Six Senses!

We had an amazing time at Six Senses Koh Samui. The service was excellent, and Dan, our host, was attentive and always ready to help. We loved how easy it was to communicate with the team through their app—it made everything seamless. Our waterfront villa was perfect: quiet, spacious, and with breathtaking views of the sea. We really enjoyed the weekly activities, the beautiful pool, and the overall relaxing atmosphere. The resort’s amenities and eco-conscious touches made it even more special. Everything was so well taken care of, and the entire stay felt like a true luxury retreat. Highly recommended!

Beautiful location in the middle of the jungle. !!! Everything handmade and free of plastic ! Amazing experience for the family. Breakfast, a beautiful view and location , but food are okay really not variety. I have been in better hotels in thailand. The two Michelin star restaurant "dinning on the rocks" was a really disappointing !!! In general, compared to the price, I was expecting much more !!!! So it's really hard rate hotel when you need to factor in the price, you pay for. Since it's approximately a thousand dollar a night this review is about two stars 🌟 🌟 unfortunately. If the price was six hundred then the review will be five stars!!! Really nice experience in the nature. The ocean on the lower level pool are amazing for kids very shallow with beautiful sand.

This resort has exceeded our expectations. The location is absolutely stunning which combines greenery along with the views of the Gulf of Thailand. Very secluded which is exactly what we were looking for pure relaxation and serenity. The staff and service is excellent and special thanks to Maya who did her best to look after us. We didn’t leave the hotel once as we just loved it so much! The food is also great and so much choice available. One of the infinity pools is one of the best I’ve seen. I’ve stayed in some top hotels around the world and this is definitely up there with the best. Oh and you have to visit the farm onsite, they have the friendliest goats ever! Look forward to trying more Six Senses resorts in the future.

We always come back to Six Senses - there is no hotel that can match this authentic, barefoot luxury experience! It is truly one of a kind. The whole resort is designed for an unforgettable holiday - a perfect place to take some time away from the world headlines and just purely relax. Paradise must be the most descriptive word to use to describe the feeling. We found the food exceptional - especially the breakfast offer, extraordinary. |What we love the most is not only the breathtaking view throughout the complex but the way the teams are empowered to bond with the guests - elevating the local experience - we just love that.|We also truly appreciated to meet and chat with the Hotel director personally - this meant a lot to us as we have been to a few Six Senses in the past. We felt "part of the family" already!|Thank you for an exceptional memorable stay - wish it was a few days longer.|We always leave feeling as though we have bonded with the people and would love to see them all agin soon. This is what makes Sic Senses the most unique hotel stay in the world.

We spent our holiday in Koh Samui and had a wonderful three days at Six Senses! Everyone works here was incredibly kind and showed genuine hospitality. In particular, Fon at Dining on the Hill was the best server I’ve ever met! She took such great care of us during both breakfast and dinner, and every dish she recommended was absolutely delicious. She even looked after my baby in the belly 😜 The room was in excellent condition, and we really enjoyed all the activities offered at the resort.😊 Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at Six Senses for our wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived until our departure everyone was amazing. Especially our host Dan he welcomed us at reception and was always there for us to plan our itinerary, make reservations at the restaurant and just have a great conversation. Dan made this luxurious resort feel warm and cozy. We were able to dine at all the restaurants and utilize the spa as well while we were there and I can’t say enough good things about the resort.

We had a lovely vacation at Six Senses Samui. The resort is beautifully located and has a very relaxed atmosphere. The villas are fine – charming, but nothing extraordinary. I did miss having things like paddleboards or other beach activities available. For the price, I honestly expected more. It was almost twice as expensive as my last trip to Thailand, and the level of service was about the same. My wife really wanted to stay at Six Senses – and that was fine – but looking back, there are definitely other resorts that offer better service, better locations, and much better value for money.
