I would never recommend this company for catering. I can't express how unprofessional, dismissive, and exhausting my interactions have been with Muhammad Husnain (the person who handles catering) and his dad Mubarak Ali (the owner?)
Back in early January, I began reaching out to local caterers for appetizer quotes for our February wedding. When I contacted Muhammad, the interaction immediately felt unprofessional. He questioned whether I was serious about placing an order before offering a quote, saying he didn't want to waste time calculating prices unless I was committed. This struck me as odd, especially since my only previous interaction with them had been months earlier in August 2024.
Initially, I was quoted $22 per person for chaat, naan, tandoori chicken, and samosas. I explained it was outside our budget, and Muhammad later called back offering $12. I countered with $11, and though he didn't agree on the phone, he texted later offering $10 per person. The inconsistency in pricing raised concerns, but I decided to move forward.
On January 3rd, I estimated around 245 guests. On January 4th, I confirmed we'd proceed with catering, letting him know the count would likely be closer to 230. He replied via text that this was not an issue and confirmed the total would be $2,300 at $10 per person. He requested a $650 deposit to hold the date.
Throughout our interactions, Muhammad's tone with me was often abrupt and dismissive, though he spoke more respectfully with my husband. On January 15th (32 days before the event), I updated him that our guest count had finalized at 205. He requested a call and then quoted a new total of $2,050 plus $150 in tax--despite never previously mentioning any tax. This inconsistency further unsettled me.
We asked several times for a simple written contract confirming the food items, pick-up time/date, payment made, and balance due. Each time, Muhammad refused. Eventually, the tone of communication deteriorated. He told my husband that our order was small compared to others he handles and that he was doing us a favor. This left us feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
On February 5th--11 days before the event--I decided to cancel the order. Muhammad had previously stated they don't order inventory until full payment is made, and he repeatedly emphasized our order was insignificant. When I requested a refund of our deposit, he flatly refused, saying it was non-refundable, even though this had never been communicated verbally or in writing.
I mentioned that my sister works at a law firm and based on her experience, retaining a deposit without any refund policy disclosure is not permissible. Muhammad immediately hung up and later accused us of threatening legal action--which we had not done. After some back and forth via text, he agreed on February 5th to return the full deposit within 5-7 business days.
We made at least 13 follow-ups after that, each time met with excuses: system issues, delays, and ultimately silence. We even contacted his father, the alleged owner, who reassured us multiple times that we would receive our money. We had a legal firm eventually issue a formal request by April 21st, to which Muhammad agreed--but again, no payment was made.
Finally, after 81 days, numerous texts, phone calls, and a legal notice, Muhammad told us he would pay in cash if we could come to the restaurant within 30 minutes. We live in Seattle, so that wasn't possible. He then offered to drop off the cash to a friend/relatives house, and after providing an address, we received $650 via Zelle from an unknown person.
This entire experience was incredibly frustrating and stressful. We approached every step amicably, but were met with unprofessionalism, dismissiveness, and unnecessary complications. I cannot recommend this company based on how poorly we were treated and how long it took just to recover a deposit we were rightfully owed.
