Sizzling Pot King Brings Hunan Cuisine to the International District | Eater Seattle

"Located at 660 S King St., I found Sizzling Pot King's new Chinatown-International District location emphasizes the smoke- and chile-infused flavors that set Hunan food apart. The menu mirrors the Bellevue restaurant and is built around the signature dry pot dish, where you pick a protein—ranging from bullfrog to beef tongue to Hunan-style duck—along with vegetables, flavorings, and heat level. The second half of the menu focuses on Hunan specialties such as steamed whole tilapia with Hunan pepper, spicy crab, and crawfish. Co-owner Dun Newton Lin says the menu “reflects contemporary Hunan cooking and dishes, as the cuisine has evolved and incorporated culinary influences from other regions, such as the sophistication of Cantonese cuisine and a little of the spiciness of Sichuan cuisine.” The restaurant began in San Diego in 2014, expanded to the Bay Area, opened in Bellevue in March, and has now opened this Chinatown-International District outpost over the weekend." - Megan Hill

A Critic Thinks One of Chicago’s Best Chinese Restaurants is in Greektown | Eater Chicago

"I embrace the heat at the new Hunanese spot Sizzling Pot King, where the region’s cooking—generally spicier and brighter than Sichuanese—shines in a marvelous platter of Chef’s Magic Tofu and in iconic Wuhang hot-dry noodles. The main attraction is the dry hot pot, a customizable stir-fry with endlessly variable options: diners choose from several spice levels and flavors (I recommend the ma la if you enjoy a moderate spicy sensation), and ingredients ranging from catfish and cuttlefish to pork ribs and lobster balls arrive fully prepared as riots of textures and flavors. Although it’s located in Greektown rather than Chinatown, I implore Chicagoans to seek it out and please pay your respects." - Jeffy Mai

With Bellevue’s Sizzling Pot King, Spicy Hunan Cuisine Finally Arrives | Eater Seattle

"In Bellevue I found Sizzling Pot King to be a lively, casual outpost that brings contemporary Hunan cooking north from its California roots. Co-owner Dun Newton Liu (originally from Sichuan) explains the menu reflects Hunan’s chile-forward identity — using chiles pickled, salted, ground into pastes, dried, and infused in oils — and the region’s preference for vinegar as the balancing “kicker,” plus regional herbs like perilla. Seasonal, vegetable-forward preparations are evident: I tried smoked pork belly with winter bamboo shoots (and was told charcuterie in any form is a must-order), crispy-yet-creamy “magic tofu,” and delicate golden pumpkin cakes. The restaurant’s dry pot is a notable, more modern/fusion element that lets you customize meats (including beef tongue and bullfrogs), vegetables, and heat, built on a complex sauce made with 10–15 Chinese herbs; while not exactly a traditional Hunan dry pot, it captures the cuisine’s essence of bold, sour-salty spiciness in a way that feels authentic yet contemporary." - Jay Friedman

Google
Truly the king of sizzling pots. Boy when that pot comes out is it sizzling and hot. Overall I find that the restaurant is pretty chill. The people working there seem cool and authentic, and the food is tasty too. The menu has a lot of different things to choose from so you can just eat what you like. The way it’s cooked is also really nice, as the texture of the meat is very tender. For desert we got the fried bread and condensed milk. And it was tasty too, tantalized our taste buds

Google
We eat here once a month. We love the food and service . We also do pick up . Take note , if you do take out / delivery / pick up MUST heat the food in its container (alum trays) mix until water disappears and left with only that super good smell of Szechuan chili oil and herb. It will not disappoint!!!! I just put mine on top of the stove.

Manfred L.

Google
It's known for hot pot, but their smaller dishes are exceptional. Lamb bone broth was amazing and nourishing - best in the city. Great family owned spot as well.

Google
This place was amazing! I loved the pork belly and it was a sizzling spicy!! The fried shrimp rice was tasty…but everything was!! We ate and still we were stuffed. Food is authentic and service was promoted, quiet, and nice. Found this place in google reviews and I was so happy to try it but even happier after we all loved it.

Rishi R.

Google
I was looking for places to eat a few blocks from where I live, and holy cow, this place is amazing! I tried the House Special Spicy level Sizzling Pot with Beef Short Rib and Pork Rib and it is the textbook definition of "it hurts so good" that makes me want to come back again. Great value for money as well. Two of us shared a large sizzing pot for 35$ and it was way more than we could eat in a single sitting.

Alana D.

Google
The food came out quickly, the portions were generous, and it was overall delicious. We got two medium pots for four people, and we were all stuffed by the end. It's definitely on the spicy end for me (my spice tolerance is pretty low), but they have a good range of spice levels. I especially liked the diced chicken, wide vermicelli, and rice cakes. We got pumpkin mochi and fried dough too, which were very sweet and tasty and a nice way to round out a spicy meal. We didn't get a ton of rice, but definitely enough to eat most of the pots.

John H.

Google
The food was absolutely delicious! I wish I had a restaurant like Sizzling Pot King here in Fort Lauderdale. It was so amazing that in some ways no other place will ever be as good. The pork belly was perfect. What a wonderful find! The fried rice was the best I have ever had. It was not oily or salty but perfect

Google
The restaurant is simple and clean. We ordered a lot of dishes. They were all good. For me, the best dish was Suan Cai Yu . It was a resplendent dish full of delicious tender fish slices, delicately pickled mustard greens, and crunchy sprouts, all immersed in a most tangy savory soup. This dish stimulated our appetite. It was perfect to eat with rice. Both of us were very satisfied with the food and the reasonable prices, and we had to get takeout boxes because there was so much food. I‘ll return again.

Yelp
The dry pot had great numbing spicy flavor. Medium was quite spicy already as I have a lower tolerance. The potatoes were fried and absorbed all the seasoning. My favorite is the house special eggplant with preserved egg and jalapeño. The fry fish fillet was mediocre. It tasted just as what you would expect for fried fish. Service was a bit slow when they first opened, but it was good during dinner time. I didn't need to wait for a table both times I visited. The walls have various animal decors.

Yelp
Can't speak to the whole menu here, but came here after work with a few friends and enjoyed the spicy dry pot (as someone who can't handle their spice well, I found the mild level of spice to be perfect -- it's also more on the numbing side which I like). The inside is barebones on the decor and the outside often has some shady characters loitering... but if you stick to the dry pot, you should be fine. It was overall very chill inside (not very busy).

Yelp
Service is a hit or miss as only the boss lady is in the front of the house and she's by herself. Spicy dry pot is good. Closed on Mondays.

Yelp
We were so heart broken when they closed out the San Diego branch. We were obsessed with their garlic flavored dry pot, So of course we had to try while we were in SF. The garlic flavor was a little different than the one in San Diego. We prefer the way San Diego made their garlic. But everything was still delicious & the kids were very content & happy. They even asked us to order more for later. Service was great, but parking is a pain. Goodluck in finding street parking!
google avatar

Christian N.

Yelp
We had this in San Diego, but sadly it closed down. Found this place and it tasted delicious. The flavors differed between the two but what can you expect when the restaurants are located miles apart. Nonetheless, the food was flavorful and the wings were crispy.

Yelp
Came here a couple times, and it made me really like dry pot. I would say that the house special spicy is pretty spicy. I ordered a medium spice for the house special spicy, and it was really spicy. However, I ordered a medium spice for the Sichuan pepper spice flavor, and that one was not as spicy! I remember the dish being pretty large even for the large size and came with plenty of food. I would say the large size is good for 2-3 people. The standard dish comes with a variety of toppings and vegetables, but you can add additional add-ons for extra. I liked adding the ramen as it gave me a base to eat it with along with the rice. I really liked the flavor of the dry pot, and the meats and vegetable were fresh tasting. The service was generally good, and the food came out quickly. The neighboring area is a bit sus, but that should not be the reason to deter you from trying this spot out as it is really yummy! The times I came here, it was not that busy, so it is easy for groups or even just for an easy yet delicious dinner. I would definitely come back here to eat for dry pot. It looks like they also do catering as well, so I would love getting it for a bigger party or group event next time.

Yelp
I went with a couple of friends for a New Year's Eve meal and had a pleasant time. I had never tried dry pot before so I was a bit nervous (I love soup :') but I liked it! The price was good for the amount of food we got but the dishes did take awhile to arrive. It could just be a holiday thing though. Two medium pots was the perfect amount of food for 4 pretty big eaters; we chose fish and beef as our meats and spicy and garlic as our flavors. I liked the crunchiness of the fish a lot and the garlic flavor was also great. Overall a solid place for dry pot!
google avatar

Yelp
Overall a great experience for the portion size and flavor, easy to order and customize add on ingredients for delivery Ordered garlic dry pot flavor. Beef short ribs were tasty, well marinated. Plentiful and pretty tender to come off the bone. Veggies in the dry pot include broccoli, cauliflower, celery, bean sprouts, and a few pieces of potato Added on cabbage, black fungus wood-ear mushrooms, and bean curd sticks "Medium spicy" while good was still fairly spicy (light nose sniffles). I'd recommend casual eaters to go for "mild spicy". Beware of "very spicy" and "crazy spicy" Filling takeout spot and can portion out more meals if you make your own rice at home. After all the add-ons it was approximately $45-50 and should feed 3 people, or 2 very hungry people. Without add-on ingredients closer to $30-35

Yelp
Good MLXG when it's hard to find in the bay area. Medium spicy isn't that spicy, go for more spicy.

Yelp
Good food, and perfect location fr my hotel on 7th St. I had ordered the pork potstickers & vegetarian chow mein. It def hit the spot. Service was ok. She was trying to multi task as best as she could. If I'm ever in the area/same hotel... I'll know where to go for some Chinese food now. Keep it up Sizzling Pot King.
google avatar

Tori L.

Yelp
Came back and it was a much better experience. Hot pot was substantial and tasty. The short ribs were really bony, then again, idk what is the norm in that department. Down-to-earth place, nothing special in that department and I'm still reeling from my previous experience here, but this time was charming and the food was delicious!

Yelp
Ordered on ubereats, over an hour late because they can't properly plan how many orders they take it.

Yelp
A quick lunch with friends and found out that it is such a great authentic Chinese food here! Super tasty with reasonable prices. I wish it was more crowded here, really want everyone to try this place out!

Yelp
We were here before Christmas in 2023. It was totally an accident because the restaurant that we planned to go didn't want to serve us (they told us that we must have reservation but they didn't have any guest). So, we just walked around the corner and found Sizzling Pot King. We did enjoy the food. It added a good memory of our Christmas trip to San Francisco.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite Chinese in sf and I was thinking about them all the time when not in sf. But it has gotten so so much for a down turn. Portion has gotten 50% smaller, barely any veggies in it and didn't even give rice.
google avatar

Jocelyn K.

Yelp
"Build your own" dry pot in SOMA! There were lots of options for ingredients to put in your pot as well as flavors, both spicy and not spicy. I would definitely recommend getting rice if you get their numbing spicy flavor to "dilute" the heat. We got 2 larges and an appetizer to share between 5 people and had some leftovers to take home. The staff was friendly but would sometimes forget to bring some things out until we asked. I'd come again.
google avatar

Misha T.

Yelp
The lady told me the medium size sizzling pot wouldn't be too much for one person. That was drastically incorrect. Luckily, this type of food makes for good leftovers and I really liked my lamb one. I got it full spicy and they really give it to you if you ask for it. I think it would be too hot for most people so I'd go with a medium the first time.

Yelp
It was a rainy night in San Francisco and it was the weekend so the circumstances were PERFECT for ordering in. No plans, all eating. We decided on Sizzling Pot King as I had never been and I loved Sichuan food (as my mom is from that region of China). I especially loved dry pot, a newer dish that was gaining significant popularity in China and all over the world. It's like hot pot, but without the broth and the toppings are stir fried and stacked in the wok and usually eaten as a group. We ordered quickly on Doordash and got what seemed like the usual, popular dish and waited eagerly for our Saturday night meal. Food review: Short Ribs Medium Spice Medium Size Dry Pot 4.5/5 - For a rainy day in San Francisco, this 100% hit the spot. Ingredients included broccoli, bean sprouts, short ribs, peppers, and various other vegetables. The flavoring itself was fairly spicy but not over the top as it was medium. Definitely savory but it seemed like the oil itself was one of the more prominent flavors when it should've been the peppercorn/fermented black bean base - still very tasty but it's why I marked off half a point. The portion size was spot on, lots to eat for two people and still leftovers for a second meal for two people! So delicious, definitely the best dry pot I've had in San Francisco! Tomato Egg 5/5 - Ah so comforting. This brings me back to growing up and eating this as a casual meal at home on the weeknights. The balance of the sweet and the tart of the tomato was perfect with the fluffiness of the eggs. If you've never had this, please get this. The portion size was bigger that we expected as well which was good! I would love to go in person some time to Sizzling Pot King since the in-person experience is usually always at least a bit better than the delivery experience. The dishes both hit the spot and fulfilled our craving for fragrant Chinese dishes that warmed our bellies on a rainy night in San Francisco. I would for sure recommend Sizzling Pot King!

Yelp
Loved how efficient the people are here. I love how the owner manages a full time job and helping the restaurant at night! We ordered pork intestines and shrimp, and a bunch of veggies. They are all very tasty. I love how them deep fired everything before mixing with their sauce. Also, they adopted the rice serving from northern China. They literally give you a lot of rice, so you don't have to pay one bowl after one bowl. The place is below their home and the vibe is very down to earth, and very old school. I would say they win people back for their decor, but the flavor and the authenticity. Will for sure come back.

Yelp
Super authentic Sichuan food with large portions and great value. We came in for lunch and it was easy for a walk-in. However they are constantly prepping for takeouts. Guess folks love to enjoy it at home too. Not only excellent quality to the cooking and generous portions: the food brings back memories of visiting Sichuan. I would recommend ordering mild spicy Bc it's Sichuan pepper corn: it builds up and you can feel the heat and numbing sensation as you gorge yourself. I love the fried steam mantou/bun. Wholeheartedly recommend you try it out yourself. For Entree, we got the large combo for $32. We couldn't finish it between 2 full grown boys. We had some "exotic meat" options of frog and beef tongue combo. Was great. The place is pretty clean and there's some parking around but always be aware of your surroundings. Peace.

Yelp
We came here on a weekday evening for dinner. It a quickly shop and might easy to miss. When we arrived, there was little wait and we were seated shortly. The menu is viewable online via QR code. We ordered one Griddle Cooked Food with House Spicy Flavor in Very Spicy with Fish Fillet, King Oyster Mushroom, Lotus Root, Dried Bean Curd Sticks & Black Fungus. It was absolutely delicious! For those who are not a fan of spice, I recommend spicing down, as it is actually spicy. All the ingredients were delicious together! The fish was slightly crunchy on the outside but soft inside. It was also very warm, perfect for a cold night. The portion size was enough for 2-3 to share. Overall, I definitely enjoyed the food and my experience here and will definitely be back in the future!
google avatar

Cherry T.

Yelp
The spice level 3 on house spicy kicked our butts!! Beef tongue with duck griddle pot with bean curd as the add on was delicious. We came here for our mid autumn festival meal and it was fire!! The beef tongue was so tender and juicy, a perfect meat to soak up the oily spices in the bottom of the pan. Duck was a bit salty but the vegetables in the pan balanced it out. They had run out of snow pea sprouts so we got the baby cabbage. It was very flavorful and had tons of freshly chopped garlic sprinkled on top along with Szechuan peppers. More flame to fuel the fire lol. I really like how they didn't skimp on the garlic in both the vegetable and the griddle pot dish. Next time going to get a smaller pot and try the other dishes on the menu!
google avatar

Lei H.

Yelp
We found the nearest restaurant to sit and eat lunch after marching in the parade. I can see why it gets 4 stars from Yelp. Dry sizzling pot is good. We got medium size garlic sauce not spicy with beef add Napa cabbage and fungus. Also bought Chinese fried dough, pot stickers and cold pig feet and cucumbers. Overall the food was authentic northern Chinese and good. Lots of mandarin speaking customers. We plan to be back. Note: prices on the menu are super outdated. Says cucumber is $3.99 for small. They ended up giving us a large and. It's $8.48. Very flavorful. Just a bit odd between menu pricing and actual bill. Not a deterrent. Just more confusing.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Hunan-style Chinese food in western SoMa, you've found the spot. The menu has recently expanded to include more delectable dishes, including the ones pictured here. Keep in mind that the dishes all tend to run on the spicy side and the portions are intended to share. Hope you enjoy their menu as much as we do!

Yelp
Terrible... such a big disappointment as this place used to be good a year ago. Food: bad, very bad. Everything tastes like they have been frozen for months and expired. We had probably less than 5 oz of meat in a large sizzling pot, which costs $40+?? Service: I understand this is a family business but that is not an excuse for bad service. We waited 15min+ for ordering. They made a small kid come and change our water pitcher, who ended up dripping water all over the table...

WILLIAM P.

Yelp
I've been eating at this restaurant for years. The food is always consistent. The price is great. I always feel welcome here and find the staff attentive. I'm as white as can be but I have it on good authority that the food is very authentic. (I've dined here with a couple of friends from Hunan.) Favorite dishes: The dry hot pot (any combination); smashed eggplant with preserved eggs and chilies; spicy crawfish; Wuhan noodles; tomago tofu; steamed pork belly with preserved greens; pumpkin mochi. I could go on. I love almost everything here.
google avatar

Ethan C.

Yelp
This is a great, affordable spot for hot pot! We ordered a large hot pot with lamb and pig intestines as well as a mix of veggies (lotus plants, cabbage, etc.). We also ordered another spicy beef dish. The mix of veggies and meat along with the robust sauce made this hot pot dish the highlight of the meal. The flavors were spicy and rich with a balance of "mala" (heat) + savory elements like saltiness, chinese 5 spices, etc. We were all full at the end and quite satisfied. We paid around $21 each after tips.

Steven Z.

Yelp
The food was pre-cooked. The service was terrible. Asked for a cup of water and waited 25 minutes. Still gave 10% tip as courtesy and the owner stopped me and asked me to add it up to at least 15%. Horrible.
google avatar

Ruby C.

Yelp
I've had this spot on my list for so long and the wait to try this place is so worth it! My boyfriend and I ordered the medium griddle with lamb and short ribs medium spicy. We place an online order and picked it up. It's a bit hard to park in the area so I recommend taking public transport if you plan on eating there. The food smelled amazing and tasted even better! It was actually the perfect level of spice for us because we love spicy food especially the Szechuan numbing spice they use in dry pot! There was more than enough food for the two of us which made for great leftovers the next day. Definitely check this place out!
google avatar

Charles W.

Yelp
Sizzling Pot King is an authentically Chinese place that serves spicy dry pot that'll make you sweat. This place is great on a cold and windy SF night, with custom combinations and spicy levels to your taste. Even spicy level 3 (medium) had me chugging Wanglaoji and water to soothe my taste buds.
google avatar

Valerie H.

Yelp
I was craving some good comforting food, and I'm glad I stumbled up on this place! I got the house numbing clay pot chicken and it was delicious. There was actually the numbing taste and they used yellow chicken so there was a good bite to the meat. The only thing is that I wish they marinated the chicken more for more flavor on the inside but it wasn't too big of a deal. The pork hock was actually spicy and numbing as well and it was bursting with flavor. I ordered this for the collagen and it surprisingly liked this dish. Their noodles were the soft type which isn't to my liking so I would probably skip on that next time.

Yelp
It was fine, but not more than that. Not bad, but probably not returning. Prefer Hi Pot in South Bay.

Yelp
Sizzling Pot King Ratings: 4.1/5 Food: 4.75/5 - I love Szechuan food and Sizzling Pot King did not disappoint, almost equivalent to Mala Project in NYC. I think this is my first time eating Szechuan food with my boyfriend, because he doesn't like numbing spice food. He didn't enjoyed it as much as I did, but I was quite satisfied and happy after the meal. See the description of the griddle dish we got to share at home. - Medium Griddle Cooked Dish [GET]: Dish is loaded with a variety of veggies such as bean sprouts, potatoes, cabbage, and broccoli. My favorite were the bean sprouts and potatoes, because they've soaked up all the sauce and spices, delicious and pairs perfectly with a bowl of white rice. The beef was tender and well-seasoned, high quality and packed with flavors. We got lowest spicy level, and it was pretty spicy for me and definitely for my boyfriend, so newcomers beware if you have a low spice tolerance. The flavors of the sauce was excellent, and I approve. It's rich and spicy, got a nice touch of the "mala" from the peppercorn and savory elements such as salt and traditional Chinese five spices. Lovely and phenomenal, yet not too greasy. Ambiance: 4/5 - Typical restaurant located in Mission. I've walked past it a couple of times, but never dine-in. From afar, it seems like a hole-in-the-wall place, nothing too special about it. Interior is not too spacious, but got a good amount of seating for customers. There's a lot of Mandarin speaking customers, so expect it to be loud and a bit chaotic. Price: 4/5 - The medium griddle pot was $29.98 on UberEats, and I added rice cakes for additional $4.99 before tax. The total came up to be $40 without tips included. Solid price, and portions was a lot bigger than we expected, and we saved a little less than half as leftovers. Service: 3.75/5 - We ordered through UberEats, so didn't get to experience the indoor dining experience. The order came in a timely fashion, within 30 minutes after we placed the order online. However the packaging was quite awful and super messy, because the sauce spilled into the bag when we got it causing the container to be greasy and oily, took me a while to clean up. I think they delivered the food on a motorcycle, but oh well. BLUF: Authentic Northern Chinese food in SF, and one of the better Szechuan spots here. I would recommend getting the medium size griddle for two to three people. Portions are decent, and I loved that you can add as many other veggies, carbs, and proteins as you like. Make sure to have rice! It is my go to spot now to satisfied my numbing dry pot cravings. I want to come back to try the lamb with some other combinations of toppings.

Yelp
The food is not fresh nor tasty. Totally not eatable. Really disappointed. Never come.

Yelp
Sizzling Pot King is one of my go-to restaurants down in San Diego, and I had no idea it was a chain so I was excited to hear that they had one just down the street from my friend's place in SF! Like the SD location, it is a hole-in-the-wall, family-run type of place, but with great food. Sadly when we came on a Sunday night around 6pm, they were out of most of the items we had wanted to order (beef tongue, catfish, duck gizzard), so we had to switch up our order a bit (I've never ordered any meat besides the beef tongue before). We ended up getting the pig intestine and beef short rib, which I was pretty happy with, although I think beef tongue remains my favorite. We got the large/combo size which is the perfect size for a group of 4, and comes with 2 meats. For spice level, I don't have too high of a spice tolerance, but I'd say the medium that we got was a good level as it's more of a numbing spice. I noticed that their portions seem to be smaller than the SD location, but other than that, the food itself is pretty consistent.

Yelp
Went here for a dinner around 8p with a group of 6 people. There initially wasn't a table ready for the size of our group--definitely recommend calling ahead for a reservation--but the staff went out of their way to rearrange some tables for us. They had a really clear ordering system. We ordered two pots which was more than enough for us. One was calamari/shrimp tomato based, and the other one we added meat and veggies. We also ordered pumpkin rice cakes which were delicious. I'll definitely visit again with a group!

Yelp
So glad a solid place for dry pot exists in the city. We went on a busy night and despite being understaffed they were extremely attentive. Get a medium to share for two- we opted for the mala (spicy hot) with beef and our favorite add ons including daikon, bok choy, and mushroom. My partner and I agreed that their meat portion is actually quite generous. The beef was tender and more thick cut to my liking but I still loved it. Would try lamb or the bull frog next time. Some tips: add on more vegetables! I think I would have gotten double the add ons- by default it comes with bean sprouts and potato. Also if you like the dry pot, well sizzling, make sure to ask them to relight the fire. Would come back here to satisfy my dry pot cravings!

Yelp
I ordered dinner via Caviar to celebrate Lunar New Year and would definitely come back! Signature medium dry pot with chicken, spicy ($25) - wow, HUGE portion. This dish alone would have been enough for dinner for two. Lots of flavorful protein and bean sprouts / broccoli / peppers / cauliflower. Just the right amount of spice and not too oily. Hunan spicy pork - authentic and exactly as expected. Pork is sliced quite thin so soaks up the flavor nicely. Homemade pumpkin cake - ordered just to try it but probably wouldn't get again. The dish is four fried doughy pumpkin cakes. Taste is ok but cakes are way too oily to have more than a few bites at a time

Yelp
I just ordered the small griddle with pork intestines from them today, I haven't ordered from them for years and I can tell they really had improved the flavor throughout the years. There are two places I know that specialize in making Chinese griddles near me, this one and Spices, and I remember back in 2020, I don't like neither of them because I feel like they are both lacking flavors in their griddles, like there are not enough spices and stuff, despite the fact that for the other place, medium hot is like super hot for me, but it's just hot, with no other flavors. But today I decided to give this place another try and I'm glad I did. It's way more flavorful than I remembered, even tho I still added extra salt, and I think their "very spicy" is not very spicy, but at least I would consider ordering again. The pork intestines are braised before sautéed, so they already have a good layer of flavors and they are soft and tender, without any funky taste, so I enjoyed eating them a lot. However some pieces are a little bit overcooked and burnt, making them black and dry. But I think that's something totally avoidable. There are a lot of veggies that came with the griddle so you don't have to order veggies yourself as far as I think. Getting the spam/luncheon meat is kinda a bad deal, because for 6 dollars you get like 7 slices, and you get a whole 16oz box of spam at groceries for 4 dollars, and I bet restaurants get better prices. So I will probably not order this again. Generally I'm happy to order from them again and try out different items.

Yelp
Fantastic dryish hot pot at SPK. We got the vegetarian one with various appendiments and especially loved the ramen noodles in there. The tofu, cauliflower, broccoli all went really well in there. We also tried the mapo tofu which packed spice and went well with the rice. Perhaps on the greasier saltier side but you don't eat hot pot every day.

Yelp
I went here a few years ago with a friend, who recommended the place. From the outside, it's like a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. We came here on the weekend for dinner & the place was brightly lit with most of the tables filled. I love spicy food, and Sizzling Pot King did not disappoint. We got a medium dry pot with a bunch of side items. It was numbingly spicy enough that we had to take some breaks for water. It's been a few years since I've been here, and I'm sad to see low reviews in more recent times, so will definitely have to return, get some pictures, and give an updated review!

Yelp
https://youtu.be/NSDGsWCM2dk If you love Spicy Food, grilled hot pot, and Crawfish this is the place to go. I ordered the Frog Pot, Pork Feet, Jumbo Shrimp Pot, Wuhan Noodles, House Special eggplant, Spicy Crawfish, and their Fry Milky bread w/condensed milk for dessert. My favorites were the Shrimp Pot and Spicy Crawfish. I love that they have so many varieties to add to your Pot and the Pot was huge. We came early so we had the place all to ourselves. The waiter was really attentive and helpful. It's located in the SOMA district. I would definitely go back for the Grilled Hot Pot and Crawfish. Click on the link above and check out my YouTube video for more Sizzling Pot King Love.

Yelp
Good food overall. I highly recommend the chicken and the shiitake mushrooms in your pot. A large is about right for two people. I wouldn't get the calamari. Definitely ask for mild spice or you may be in over your head. Overall a good experience.

Yelp
Would give this place a solid 3 stars for a hot pot deliciousness ONLY, which reminded the taste of real China! Griddle Cooked Beef Tongue (Medium) $22.99 is a must try! Service on the other hand does require major improvements starting with simple welcoming smile and reducing cigarette smoke by employees at the back door with smoke coming inside of the restaurant. Do understand it might be common outside of the country, however we are in US, so please improve! Overall, food was great, thanks.

Yelp
Pretty decent mala-Szechuan spot. A medium or a large can fill 2 people. You can pick one 'meat item' for the medium and 2 for the large. I liked the tendon and my friend liked the beef tongue. We also added some spam and Napa cabbage to the pot. We also ordered a soy milk which is good to balance the spiciness and it came out to around 55 total. If you don't love mala or spicy like me, you can always opt for garlic and mild and I thought it was just flavorful and spicy enough for it to be enjoyable. Will def be coming back to check out some of their other proteins.

Yelp
I was so excited when I learned there was a spicy pot restaurant in San Francisco - I was in Singapore earlier this year, and mala was one of my favorite foods there. You choose a protein, a flavor, a spice level, and extra add-ons, and they cook it all together with a bunch of those delicious spices. Even the medium size is a TON of food and could easily be shared by 3-4 people. I went with one other person, and we had leftovers for dinner the next day. I don't think the side dishes add too much to the dish, since it already comes with a ton of bean sprouts, veggies, and potato, but I would definitely recommend adding enoki. For protein, we chose lamb, and the pot came with a large amount of it. Do be warned that the lamb is very fatty and has much skin and cartilage, if you aren't into that. If you don't like spice or don't like mala spice, this place probably isn't for you, but the mild spice option is quite tolerable, so don't be too put off.

Yelp
Dry hotpot is definitely not as mainstream as regular Chinese hotpot, so I would definitely recommend people to giving it a try. We went during an awkward time after lunch so they weren't busy at all and we got our food pretty quickly. In terms of taste I was definitely satisfied, if you enjoy mala and other Szechuan dishes, I would definitely come here. The portions are pretty generous too, we got 2 small griddles amongst 5 people and we were more than full. I don't have a lot of experience eating dry hotpot so I don't have a frame of reference, but I've heard from others that it definitely lives up to standard.
