SJ Eggrolls: Eat Wonderfully Crispy, Netted Egg Rolls at This East San Jose Restaurant - Eater SF

"A small shop in East San Jose specializing in chả giò rế, or netted egg rolls, with in-house made wrappers filled with a blend of shrimp and pork. They also offer other Vietnamese snacks like banh khot and chao tom." - Octavio Peña

Kind of a long wait but the food is freshly fried and tasty. The netted spring rolls were very crispy and you get a more puffy airy crisp compared to a typical fried spring roll. It is more heavy and indulgent. The Bahn khot were also delicious.

Google
Limited seating. Food is freshly prepared, so the wait is slightly long but totally worthwhile. Ordered the egg rolls and Bahn khot and they were crunchy and absolutely delightful. Paired it with Thai teas. Will have to come back to try the net egg rolls as they were sold out.

We traveled from Minnesota and this was a must visit. These very unique family recipe nest egg rolls and mini pancakes were amazing. Gracious owners. Lucky to have met them. we will make it a priority next time we visit.

Google
This was for takeout the egg rolls were good and the wings were great. Everything was good, but the Banh Khot was not as flavourful as I hoped. It was crispy, but just bland IMHO. The Nem Nuong was underwhelming and it's because I'm comparing this to the famous restaurant in OC. The Pork and Shrimp Net Egg Rolls, Salad, and noodle dish were great! Definitely check out this place. We will be ordering certain things from them again.

Google
The food was great. We loved the net roll and Banh xeo a lot. Everything was super fresh because it’s made upon order. Therefore, the wait was quite long, like at least 30-45mins. I think they can improve the wait time by having the online order system because the place is small.

Google
So excited to find this place. We’ve been looking for a good place to get bánh Khot since Vùng Tàu closed many moons ago. They have bánh Khot made to order, they make it fresh do there’s a little wait, but totally worth it! They also have awesome net egg rolls there. I’ve only seen that social or Vietnamese, but not often. These enrolls are wrapped in like almost a mettting that make them VERY crispy. They also offer catering. We will be back to try their other items.

Google
Found out about this place on Tik Tok (rip) and we recommend it after trying! The place seems to be family owned and service was great! Please be aware the eggroll wait time can be long, so maybe call ahead of time if you can. They are trying their best to fill orders. While waiting, I could see employees really paying attention to their store and ensuring things are tidy! Wifey and I tried their egg cream coffee, sugarcane juice, chicken wings plate (sub in garlic noodle), and eggroll plate. All of them were delicious and well priced! Wishing this place all the best!

Google
Incredible! The net eggrolls were DELICIOUS and the texture was everything I had ever wanted. The banh khot was also perfectly crispy. Will definitely come here again.

Yelp
I love that there's a place that makes banh khot and banh Hoi. I love those little crispy pieces of yumminess. Their garlic noodles are also really good. Bursting with flavor unlike other ones around. This place is really small and probably best for takeout. Nicely decorated and clean. Order ahead of time or you will be waiting at least 25 minutes. It's very easy to order online, although you have to make sure you look through all the options before adding the items to cart. I've order the chicken wings before and didn't know I had to select a flavor and a side. For some reason I was still allowed to check out with it so watch for that or they will call you to clarify. I know that they are big on their woven egg rolls. They're just okay for me. Crispier than the regular ones, but probably up to par when it comes to taste.

Yelp
"If you ain't got all the time in the world..." -Nước Mama SJ Eggrolls. Because who has time to finely chop everything, meticulously wrap the chả giò (egg rolls), then batch-fry them? I can barely boil water without burning myself. During the pandemic, SJ Eggrolls started as a home-based catering business and opened their first brick and mortar in October 2024. They've been on my list to go to but it's hard to make it there on the weekdays to avoid the long wait on the weekends. I'm glad I finally made it there be after visiting the Hello Kitty Café at VF because these are the best chả giò I've tried in the bay! I think Nước Mama would approve. Open for takeout and limited dine-in (5 tables). M E N U * Specialty: Chả Giò (egg rolls) and Chả Giò Rế (netted egg rolls) They also have spring rolls, bánh khọt (mini savory pancakes), chicken wings, rice + noodle bowls, and drinks (tea, coffee, sugarcane, etc). Party trays available. Everything is made to order so expect a wait. With no line on a weekday, we were quoted 10 minutes but it took closer to 20 minutes. You can order ahead of time online but need to call for a party tray. F O O D * Egg Rolls Plate (6pc-$13.95): https://tinyurl.com/3xnjaxmd - Request half chả giò and half chả giò rế Fresh out of the fryer, the chả giò rế was hella bomb! Similar to rice paper but with a delicate woven texture, the wrapper poofs when fried creating the most satisfying shatteringly crispy, airy texture. ASMR approved. Generously filled with savory pork, fresh shrimp morsels, sweet carrots, and nutty taro. The best rendition I've tried to date. The regular chả giò was solid. Same filling but with the usual smooth egg roll wrapper. They reheat nicely in the air fryer. Served with a side of lettuce, herbs, and đồ chua (pickled veggies) for DIY wraps. The accompanying nước chấm was well balanced, punchy with good funk and kick of heat. * Nem Nướng Cuốn: Grilled Pork Spring Roll (5 pc-$15.95): https://tinyurl.com/2tty3e4j Rolled nice and tight with a bouncy slice of pork sausage, fresh lettuce, crisp cucumber, scallion, and crunchy egg roll wrapper. Served with a ground pork and glutinous rice based orange sauce. Thick, congee like consistency. A bit sweeter than the norm. It was fine but the nem (pork sausage) could have been a bit thicker like what's pictured. We tried one on-site but the fried egg roll wrapper became soggy by the time I got back home to the city (2 hours later). The fried wrapper was flat instead of a cylinder shape so not sure if that's what caused it to go limp? S E R V I C E Very friendly, welcoming service. Again, expect a wait for your order. A M B I A N C E Bright, casual minimalist with 5 tables and Top 40s playing on the screen. P A R K I N G Unlike the plazas on Tully, Story, and Silver Creek, parking is easy. Overall, BOMB Chả Giò Rế that's worth the trek from the city. A guaranteed hit, order a tray for a party OR for yourself. No judgement...cuz that's what we're doing next time!

Yelp
SJ Eggrolls had a steady stream of customers on a holiday weekend. And I recommended calling ahead for party trays. Their Banh Khot is top notch! Crispy edges and soft middle. It comes with lettuce, mint, fish sauce, and pickled carrots and daikon. Their Nem Nuong Cuon was alright; I had better elsewhere. In general, I think it's a good snack but not so much for a full meal unless you're ordering noodle bowl. I was impressed and will have to come back to try their eggrolls and garlic noodles.

Yelp
Been here twice now. It's so good!! Especially the netted eggrolls with fish sauce and tons of veggies. Need to try more stuff on the menu, but we love the eggrolls.

Yelp
I couldn't decide what to order, so I ordered a bit of everything lol. (You can do half half to try more items too). Everything is made to order so you do have to wait a bit but it's worth it for that hot and fresh crisp of things. Egg rolls / net egg rolls : comes with a bag of veggies, fish sauce, and container of carrots/daikon. The net egg roll was my favorite of the two. Even re-air fries nicely. Fish sauce wings/ butter wings: nice and crispy. Banh khot - personal fav item. It was sooo crispy and not too thick of a batter like some other places. Nem nuong - also really enjoyed this. Dipping sauce was great

Yelp
The spring rolls here are excellent! They are fresh roll. The standard pork and shrimp was perfect. Definitely fresh shrimp and vegetables. The grilled pork is really good. Definitely a must order. The Chinese sausage I thought was ok. I think I will just do the grilled pork and pork and shrimp the next time I come back. Got the banh khot plate and it was delicious. Nice and crispy and flavorful. Thin and light. The eggroll plate was excellent. Deep fried and crispy. The flavors was perfect. Definitely will come back next time in the area and will order the eggroll tray to bring to events. Not many tables as this is more of a Togo type of place. Lots of parking in the parking lot

Yelp
I am a huge fan of eggrolls. So when I heard about this fairly new eggrolls spot that opened in the San Jose East side area towards Eastridge mall, I wanted to check them out. We arrived on a late Sunday afternoon. The location is in an older plaza area off Capital Expressway and Aborn. Sprouts is located a block away. Parking is easily accessible in the large parking lot area. The restaurant is quite small with about four small tables inside to dine at. It's more of a take out spot. I did notice a lot of party trays were being picked up as well. We ordered the netted eggrolls plate, Banh Khot plate, chicken wings plate and a vermicelli bowl with sugar cane shrimps and an eggroll. Everything was delicious and flavorful. I have never had anything like the netted eggrolls and I liked the crunchy texture of the crispy net. It went well with the pork. The Banh Khot mini cakes had such a unique taste with a shrimp on top. I enjoyed the fish sauce and lettuce with all the dishes. The service was efficient and accommodating. My only gripe is the 25 minutes wait for our food to be done. If only that wait can be cut in half then it would get another star. Overall we enjoyed our experience at SJ Eggrolls. I would recommend for anyone that loves Vietnamese food to try the netted eggrolls and Banh Khot mini cakes.

Yelp
Waited a total of 45 minutes from ordering on the phone to getting my order in person. When I called and said I'd arrive in 25 minutes, they said it was perfect so I thought my order would be ready when I arrived. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes. I dont think it's worth waiting 30 minutes + for egg rolls in general. That being said, the netted egg rolls are super crunchy and delicious even after driving another 20 minutes to my destination where we ate the egg rolls. The filling was good on its own even without the sauce, but the sauce adds a nice touch. Make sure you are comfortable waiting at least 30 minutes for your order... or until they can somehow turn these out faster. They are made fresh to order! There's a few small tables inside. Definitely about more takeout than dine-in.

Yelp
I've been really into spring rolls and Vietnamese egg rolls lately and I feel weird just going to the restaurant for egg rolls since it's just an appetizer, so I was happy to see that there's a place where you can just go in specifically for egg rolls. I also don't think this place compares to King Eggroll because I feel like King Eggroll is more like a fast food egg roll spot. I saw this place on TikTok and I was really interested in the "net eggrolls" which is just the egg rolls that are wrapped in noodles and then fried. So we dropped by on a Saturday afternoon and luckily it wasn't busy. They also have bows too so it's nice that there's other other options besides eggrolls. We ordered the Grilled Pork Eggrolls, 3 Nem Nuong (Grilled Pork Spring Rolls), and 3 Net Eggrolls. I believe the price of single net eggrolls is not shown on the menu, but you can ask them when you order. For some reason, if you order any of the bowls, there's a 15 minute wait but since it was our first time we decided to wait. The inside is pretty small but I think it's meant to be a to-go type of restaurant since majority of the menu isn't large entrees. There were only 3 tables and there were other people waiting for their food, so we had to sit at a smaller/shorter table. Once our food was ready, I asked if they had the peanut sauce since that's what I like to dip my Nem Nuong in. The guy said that it's $1 for a cup of sauce, which again was fine with me since it was our first time there. We decided to eat at a park and noticed that they didn't provide any utensils for the bowl. So we had to drive somewhere to find utensils just for the bowl. Overall, I think all the things we ordered were pretty good. I think the Nem Nuong was the best out of the 3 things we ordered. I was a little disappointed with the net eggrolls because I guess I was expecting a different experience when eating it. Unfortunately I don't think I would order it again because once you take a bite, the "net" just falls off.

Yelp
It seems like they don't really have anything or many items when you walk in BUT since your reading this & your curious If your into egg rolls or fried yummy goodies, than this is a Must Try & you won't be disappointed & you'll thank me late. They are super friendly when you walk in & they answer any questions you have about the items on the menu. Pricing to me is not too bad, for the items you get & the flavors that comes with them is Worth It Will definitely be visiting this place more often & hope, they stay in business for a good amount of time.

Yelp
SJ Eggrolls located in the Silver Creek Plaza with Sprouts Farmer's Market, Popeyes, but closer to Subway's and Little Caesar's Pizza. When you walk in, it's has the look and feel of a fast food place/tea place. Though, they do have about 5-6 small tables to sit at. Order with the cashier and they will call your order # when ready. The service was friendly and helpful. I picked up a couple of net eggrolls since that is what they are famous for! This is the frist time trying them, so I am no expert. They come with a crispy netted outside encasing a pork, shrimp, and minced vegetables inside. They are so tasty alone but they offer you a few choices of dipping sauces like the sweetened fish sauce, sweet & Sour, etc. Vietnamese Ice Coffee. I can see the attraction of these netted eggrolls. They do offer other types of rolls which I'll check out another time.

Yelp
This place is so good! Saw a lot of reviews commenting on the wait time, but I ordered online for a specific pick-up time and the order was ready when I got there. They even called me an hour before to clarify something about my order which I really appreciated. This was even on a weekend when you expect them to be even busier. Bank khot plate: It's been hard to find a really good banh khot place in the bay, so I was super happy to find this spot. These banh khot are so crispy with a decent size shrimp on top of each one (much larger than I expected!). The coconut flavor is also subtle which I prefer. Eggroll plate: We liked this even better than the banh khot. Got their unique net egg rolls which were super crispy on the exterior. Really good filling too, they do not skimp on the meat. We had some left over that we heated up later in the air fryer and it was still so crispy! Both plates came with generous portions of lettuce, pickled daikon/carrots, and fish sauce. Amazing place to check out and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I will always drive out to this place endless times because it is worth the 40 minute drive from the east to the south bay for these delicious egg rolls and banh khot. Banh khot - Delicious. Crispy, the shrimp was plump, and the batter was oh so light. The fish sauce and pickling of the carrots and daikon was near perfection. I can still remember how the crispiness made a nice crunch sound upon every bite! Net egg roll - Solid! I love this style of egg roll! The wrapper itself was light and oh so crispy, perhaps crispier than regular egg roll skins. The filling itself was nicely prepared and filled with meat and various other veggies. I can't stop thinking about them! Super solid spot for all the egg roll and banh khot needs!

Yelp
Their egg rolls here are so good! We al said order a tray whenever we have parties or an event at work. Make sure you call ahead to place an order in advance for trays. Sometimes they have their website where you can order ahead like plates and such. I haven't tried their drinks but they look good!
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Yummy egg rolls! The staff were polite and nice. Wait time was long but they do warn you beforehand. Roughly 40 minutes for my order. They make everything fresh. Next time I'm definitely going to order ahead. The place itself is fairly small with only 3-4 tables. They do catering orders, which is good to know for future events/parties. Menu is pretty straightforward. My group of friends and I ordered a variety of items to share. Net egg roll $12.95 Regular egg roll plate $12.95 Bánh khot $13.95 Chinese sausage spring roll $11.95 Grilled pork spring roll $11.95 Grilled pork meatball woven vermicelli noodle bowl $14.95 I liked how they don't skimp out on the filling and egg roll was so crispy! Not too oily. Bánh khot is not bad. I really liked the grilled pork spring roll. The sauce that comes with it was addicting! I still like brodard and Quan nem ninh hoa more though. But this place can definitely satisfy my cravings. They are generous on the veggies. Packaged with care. All in all, be prepared to wait... but it's worth it if you like egg rolls (not the oily kind).
google avatar

Krys Y.

Yelp
The have so much more than your average eggroll! We tried a lot of different items here. I couldn't even tell you what we ordered. LOL. The restaurant in very small and there is very little seating. Definitely the kind of spot you order take out from instead of eating in. Absolutely worth the visit IMO. Can't wait to go back and try a few more items. I tried to upload some pictures, but the app wouldn't take them from my phone. :(
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
Their spring rolls are soo good. We ordered several fresh rolls such as the pork roll and shrimp roll for our family gathering and it was a hit. Definitely would like to come back and try their net rolls and egg rolls that come with fresh greens and mint. Service is fast. The ambiance to the space is very traditional grab and go, not a place to dine in. Will recommend to family & friends

Yelp
This place open up by my house and been wanting to try it for a while. We came in around 10am and was immediately greeted with a warm smile. I love it when Asian restaurants actually show some hospitality and make me feel welcome. The place is mostly togo but they have a few tables if you want to eat real quick and leave. Everything in the restaurant looks nice and clean. Now on to the food! We ordered a few items and everything was delicious. The banh khot was crispy and full of umami with the sauce they give you. The wings also came extra hot and crunchy. I've seen other peoples reviews saying this place have a long wait time but I didn't wait that long. It was about 10-15 minutes for food that is cooked to order. Definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place out ever since I saw someone post on Instagram. The place is nice and cozy with an area to dine in. The service was exceptional and staff were friendly and greeted us as we entered. We ordered a variety of things - 2 kinds of eggrolls, Banh Khot (sp?) and fish sauce wings as well as sugar cane drinks. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!! The food was sooo good! Definitely will be back again. Everything stayed nice and hot even when we took it to go! This place is definitely a hidden gem.

Yelp
Saw this place pop up on Yelp and decided to try a few things. I would definitely go back to order party trays Banh Khot: first time trying this and it was really crispy and good! I liked the dipping sauce. A good alternative to banh xeo if you haven't been introduced to it, just doesn't have the pork belly. Grilled pork spring rolls: always love fresh spring rolls, no complaints here Bird nest egg roll: I appreciate having an a la carte option because I was only ordering for myself and already ordered too much. This was different but good!

Yelp
Bookmarked this spot after seeing it on IG, bc I'm always on the hunt for good banh khot to feed my soul! Location: In East Side $J- something to consider if you're traveling from outside of San Jose bc there is always a lot of traffic on the busy main roads (Capitol Expressway, King Rd, Tully, etc.) PLUS they close pretty early on the weekdays, which made it challenging for me to drop by after the 9-5 work day. Pricing: $$, not cheap but also not overpriced. Reasonable considering it's a small business and everything is so expensive period. Gotta keep supporting local businesses! Service: It's a family-run business, so you can definitely feel the love in the room and food, buttt when it's busy- just expect them to be busy/brief as they are doing their best to fulfill the many orders that are coming in. They have signs to note that their food is made to order and made FRESH- so of course it's going to take a little longer from when you order. Just manage your time a little better, bc waiting for the fresh food is WORTH it. Ambience: Truthfully a small space, and could maybe benefit to having additional seating outside especially bc it does take at least 20 mins to wait for an order and the food IN MY OPINION is best enjoyable when seated. There were only about 4 tables to fit 2-3 people each, so we ate in the car. (hard to eat Banh khot in the car) But I mean, with all of their success, they'll continue to grow as a business and into a larger space. But "hole in the wall", "Mom and Pop" restaurants are always the best anyway. Food: SO sad that they ran out of net eggrolls, but also not surprised. Definitely will try to come a little earlier on a weekend to try! Nem Nuong - The rice paper was soo soft, and an enjoyable chewy texture. I've had tough and stale rice paper wrapping from other places, but the rice paper in these spring rolls were made perfectly! The crispy rice paper inside- STILL CRISPY. The sauce- tangy, salty, sweet. I would compare this Nem Nuong pretty close to Brodard's in Southern California. Banh Khot - For sure one of my favorite banh khot I've had so far. Loved the generous portion of the pancakes. But the batter... crispy and so full of flavor!!.. stole the show. I always look for batter where you can taste the coconut milk, and these were on POINT! The shrimp were prepared well- devained, cooked to plumped perfection and seasoned well. And of course accompanied with fresh herbs and fish sauce to dipp! Overall rating a 4.5, loved the food and definitely coming back! There are some things to consider and IN MY OPINION, are not considerably problematic.

Yelp
Garlic wings - Wings did not have much flavor and was plainer when you got to the meat. Garlic noodles hit the spot though. Egg rolls - They just ran out of netted egg rolls but these egg rolls had soft pork filling and a fish sauce on the saltier side. Summer Rolls - The nem nuong rolls are refreshing with a good balance of ingredients. The rolls were very good but I'd pass on the wings overall. The plus side is you can order egg rolls individually versus in a plate but the herbs that it comes with is also delicious ans refreshing.

Yelp
The egg rolls were good! The fish sauce chicken wings were just ok. The sugar cane juice was very good. I will definitely return to buy egg rolls in the future and try there other items.

Yelp
Came here again this time to try the netted eggrolls, banh khot, garlic noodles and fish sauce chicken wings. Happy to say that all of it was amazing. They don't give enough lettuce in my opinion and the layout doesn't give much room for dining in so to-go is your best bet. The wait time was a bit longer so not sure how they'll handle larger crowds considering they're being advertised on IG. Overall I'll make this a go to spot anytime I'm getting a craving.

Yelp
Super convenient for takeaway or large party orders! Food Eggroll Plate (3-Net eggrolls/3-Eggrolls) Chicken Wings Plate (Fish Sauce Chicken Wings and Garlic Noodles) Grilled Pork Spring Rolls The eggrolls were made fresh and served with a bag of vegetables. The net eggrolls were crunchy and not oily. The fish sauce chicken wings had a nice layer of the marinade and not overly coated. The garlic noodles were chewy and had a nice flavor profile. The grilled pork spring rolls wasn't my favorite. The pork (nem Nuong) wasn't grilled and would taste better if it was cooked a bit more. The sauce served with the dish has a similar taste to Brodards; not quite the same. There's party platters available on the menu and will definitely order it. Customer Service The staff was very super friendly and informed me that it would take 15-20 minutes for my order to be ready. When my order was ready, the staff thoroughly packed it. Ambiance There's bright white lighting and several tables to sit and dine in or wait while orders are being prepared. The owner was present and was hands-on with helping his team. There's a deli counter with a display case with net eggrolls and eggrolls, pate chaud, and other pastries. Location/Parking It is located a couple of doors down from Subway and Little Caesars. Parking is a bit tricky during peak hours.

Yelp
The inside ambiance is actually peaceful with music in the background . The staff are always very helpful. May want to call your orders in advance due to wait and close kitchen 6 pm sharp

Yelp
Service was so nice. Each order is made to order so be patient!! Well worth it as the net egg rolls were delicious. We bought the party tray and it heats up nicely in the air fryer. (FYI - when ordering party tray be sure to order your veggies on the side if they allow, was caught off guard when I got home and it dawned on me I didn't ask to order it as it was my first time there). The wings were amazing, and I can't forget the ice egg coffee that tasted better than the one I had in Hoi An. Highly recommend and will be back again.

Yelp
So happy this spot finally has their own restaurant. I used to order party trays of spring/net rolls via IG. So this review is long over due. But I recently ordered the following trays: fresh spring rolls and shrimp rolls. You have to call ahead a time to place party trays. They offer a variety of different spring rolls and net rolls. Love that they also offer non pork fillings since my husband and daughter don't eat pork. Next time I would like to order their banh khot and chicken wings. If you're hosting and are looking for some party trays, definitely hit up this spot for all your catering needs.

Yelp
Final Thought: 3.49/5 Soft 4 star. New family-owned shop that recently opened their doors. They seem to mostly specialize in eggrolls and spring rolls, but alternative options are available on their menu. My friend tried another item and we were curious about their eggrolls, so we came back. Food: 1. Small Plate: 6 Eggrolls Total (Half net and half regular) 3.9/5 Overall, they were pretty good. Their filling in the regular and net are the same I believe - contained pork, vermicelli, shrimp, taro, carrot, and probably a few other items that I couldn't make out. The meat stayed together and doesn't crumble apart. It appears to have optimal ratios of meat to vegetables from what I observed. Seasoned fairly well - Good balance of flavors. Temperature wise, my friends both got piping hot (regular) ones, but mine was 75% warm. The remainder 25% was hot enough to scald my tongue. Not that I intended to burn myself, but I would have appreciate a fully hot one too. The texture was still crispy, nonetheless, so I'll give it a pass. For the net eggrolls, they were all hot and crispy, so no complaints here. This order also comes with fresh veggies and fish sauce. The vegetables were very fresh and came in optimal amounts. Variety is key and I appreciate that they provided lettuce with other fresh herbs like mint and cilantro. As for the fish sauce, nothing too significant to note. It had a nice color to it and came with the carrots/daikon (đồ chua). 2. Bánh Khọt (Vietnamese Savory Mini Pancakes) 4.2/5 Crispy, good flavor, and very hearty. They came out fresh and hot for us. These pancakes are the mini version of bánh xèo (Vietnamese crepes). Whatever batter they have created and are using is quite good. The batter itself had some flavor and was seasoned enough for me, even without the fish sauce. Their bottoms were very crispy (has a nice caramelization), vibrant yellow color from the turmeric, soft middle with an every so slight chew, and nicely cooked shrimp on the top. When making this food, a lot of oil is used to give it that crispy shell, so the oil just gushed out and coated my mouth on the first bite. This is to be expected of this dish, but it is not my personal preference. Prices: Fair to Expensive This depends on what you get. The small plates are expensive from my perspective. Calculating out our plate of eggrolls, it's about $1.75-2 for one eggroll. That is not inexpensive for what you are getting. I understand that the veggies and fish sauce come with this dish, but those don't contribute a significant amount. In reviewing their other items on the menu, they seem fair when you think about Bay Area prices. For me, it's a matter of whether the quality of the item provided can match the price being asked. Service: Optimal Everyone seemed very nice welcoming. I observed them greeting one of their customers and I love the energy they gave. The chị that came to bring us the bánh khọt was really sweet. Small gestures are always appreciated. Location/Parking: Small little shop in the plaza. Location appears to be in a decent/idea spot as it faces the roads. Depending on which entrance you drive into, it'll either be on the side of the building or at the front. Parking seems ideal, as well. This shop is located in a whole plaza, so there are many parking spots available. Whether you want to park far or not, there seems to be an abundance of space here.

Yelp
Stopped in and ordered several roles. It does take up to 30 min and inside has limited seating. The cashier charged me half price by mistake And I returned back the differences. The food is good and crunchy. Other spring rolls available plus tropical drinks.

Yelp
Soft opening 10/15, pretty average hence the 3/5. I do want to point out that this review is entirely just for only the taste of the Banh Hoi Nem Nuong as if I include the entire experience it's barely hanging on in the 1-2 star area but with a new business, and noting soft opening, I don't think that'd be fair for them. I will probably just come back only for the egg rolls as that it what seems to be their focus and expertise, for an updated review. So far what I see: - To-Go containers/bowls are terrible. Not sure if I just got a faulty bowl but the lid actually does not seal with the container. I'd assume this is due to the heat or something that causes either the container or lid itself to lose its proper shape. - Serving size in comparison to price is hurting a lot. I do see that they said they were trying to avoid any price increases, and I'm not too sure if that's just for their original menu but this was a pretty sad lunch option at ~$15, almost 17 w/ tax. Very small, not even close to filling, not going to lie that the amount of nem nuong included is similar to just one-two pieces(cut up) for other places. - Soft opening so I'm aware of wait times, and yes they apologized for it both in person and on Instagram, via a post to everyone, but definitely something to keep in mind if you don't have more than 20-30 minutes to spare for things that aren't already made. Now, as noted, those minuses don't factor into the 3/5 as I'm aware those are kinks they can work out throughout soft opening. 3/5 - Banh Hoi Nem Nuong taste was pretty average. I think it was lacking a lot in normal banh hoi nem nuong plates. Missing enough carrot/radish, proper lettuce/cabbage, a lot of places usually add other garnishes such as nuts, cucumbers, mints, cilantro, etc . Shredded lettuce, very small almost unnoticeable daikon/carrot, banh hoi, nem nuong and the fish sauce is literally all you get. Not too sure what makes this at the same price as the other items that would include all the extra garnishes. Otherwise, great location really, parking shouldn't be an issue. They have a small arrangement of other prepackaged items such as a mini banh mi and with everyone raving about the egg rolls I'll definitely be back to update this.

Yelp
I love this place. I love how they have vegetarian alternatives. The place inside is so clean. The customer service is immaculate. Even suggest what you can try. Everything is made right when you order it, so we prepare to wait a little long, but it's totally worth it. They also do a party trays.

Yelp
Stopped by SJ Eggrolls on a Saturday around 11am. Didn't expect it to be packed but we opted to wait an hour for our order. I'd advise to try and call ahead to order if you can. We ordered the banh khot and fish sauce wings. I wish the wings tasted a bit more like fish sauce but otherwise both dishes were good. Thankful they have a few tables inside to wait and eat at too.

Yelp
Another gem on the East Side. I discovered them during covid when they had a home kitchen. Congrats Bình and Tyuet Van in your store! Now here they are with a brick n mortar. Even with the brick n mortar, nothing has changed! The net eggrolls and the spring rolls have the same great taste! This is more of a fast food joint with a few tables for dine in. Not meant for a large group but perfect for 2-4 ppl with an intention of in n out. Today, i ordered the shrimp spring roll, pork & shrimp egg roll and the net eggrolls. they were all perfect! Spring rolls are rolled fresh and the eggrolls were hot and crispy. only thing is the wait time. i waited about 25/30min foe my food so if you're in a hurry, call ahead!!! Parking can be easy id you are willing to walk a little. would definitely come back and try all the other stuff they have now that they didn't have at their home kitchen. .

Yelp
I'm giving them a good review despite their hideous wait times, only because I overheard the owners talking to customers how, despite being new, they are overwhelmed by the demand and that they wish to improve their wait times. Doesn't help that you have grandma over there in the corner rolling up the spring rolls - you might want to staff on weekends if your demand is up there. I have never had a netted egg roll before, and was pleasantly surprised by the texture. I did enjoy these, and the presentation did make people ask at the potluck I took them too. The spring rolls are hearty and taste fresh. The banh khot were a hit - I had never tried these before and really enjoyed them. I liked that it was a hearty bite. Thank goodness I didn't walk up in there hungry hoping to dine-in, cause this review would have been more negative if I had to wait.

Yelp
The food: - eggrolls were good - netted eggrolls were good but idk why i expected more .. maybe bc this is what they're known for? Idk. They're solid. - the banh khot was a miss for me. It was too thick. Some people might like this style, but my group didn't prefer it. I ate this later crisped up in my air fryer and liked it better. It is already crispy when served, but crispier in air fryer - the grilled pork over rice was fine, but it had a few burnt bits and rice was kinda dry/hard - the shrimp chips were yummy - the nem nuong cuons were good- dont sleep on these. The service was good, but the only thing was I had to ask for nearly everything. If you are standing in line to order, going up to get your order and needing to go up and get everything, what am I tipping for? The space: 3 small tables-- 2 2-tops and 1 4-to

Yelp
Egg rolls, Goi Cuon and Nem Nuong Spring Rolls are good. Wife however thought that the Nem Nuong was a bit bland. She was not a fan of the sauce. The pork in the Goi Cuon tasted very clean. This would have received four stars, but they are currently struggling with meeting demand and wait times are ridiculous. Waited about 30 min for 3 small orders. While they warn you with a little sign, they really should have more premade so there is no wait. 30 minutes is really long for egg rolls and spring rolls. Their system is very strict right now about only helping people in sequence, this prevents them from working on the fly to serve customers who are in the store. They are not prioritized and large orders are first. I'm not sure if I'd go back again, even though the food is relatively good.

Yelp
We've been buying egg rolls from SJ for so long, that we were so happy to see they opened a brick and mortar. Every family party we have had their egg rolls and there's never a crumb left. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The net egg rolls and the mini pancakes are a must! Both were crunchy even after they've cooled down. Better to order ahead on their website and pick the pick up time since they make them fresh to order. Also got the vermicelli bowl and rice bowl; the servings were generous. I thought the food was delicious and was worth my 40 minute drive to SJ. Will definitely be back...soon!

Yelp
Highly recommend! Eggroll, banh khot and chicken wings! Oh my! Get it while it's hot. Parking is easy but it's a busy lot. Staff is friendly. This could turn into a regular spot for me.

Yelp
An interesting twist on egg rolls that's worth a try - the net egg rolls are the unique thing that drove me out here - but I was just pleased (rather than blown away). Service, however, is great, and the store itself is cute - it's about the size of a boba shop, with just a scattering of chairs and tables. Food is fresh - I ordered ahead and it was ready just on time.

Yelp
Eggrolls are overrated. They are dry and lack much flavor. The sauce it comes with tastes too much like orange sauce. However, I highly recommend the banh khot plate but on a recent DoorDash order, they forgot the veggies. Need to work on consistency in fulfilling orders.

Yelp
Our order- small plate eggrolls, banh khot and grilled pork vermicelli bowl. Use the very fresh veg to wrap and dip into the sweet, vinegary sauce for perfect bites. Net eggrolls have extra crunch, but taste like the regular eggrolls. Banh khot are small crisp pancakes with shrimp and green onions. Reminds me of a tiny version of a Vietnamese crepe. Fun to eat fingerfoods. This small place can get crowded with people waiting for their orders. Walked in on a Sunday 11:15, order ready at 12. Everything is made fresh when ordered. Service is super friendly and ordering is efficient. Just be prepared to wait.

Yelp
Ordering over the phone was easy. They require card payment over the phone for orders over $100. They run out of their famous net egg rolls fast so it is better to order way ahead rather than the day of. I tried the regular egg rolls, garlic butter and fish sauce wings. The fish sauce wings were the best. Everything smelled good and was crispy! Only downside was the amount of oil at the bottom of the party trays.

Yelp
Friday night, I decided to put in an order for pickup Saturday morning since my parents were coming over. I paid for my order and received a confirmation text (shown in picture). The next morning around 11am, I received another text stating they were preparing my order. Then 20mins later, a final text stating my order was ready. When I got arrived, there was a line. I got to the register and told the guy that I was here for a pick up. Before asking my name, he said "it's not ready." How could he have known if he didn't ask me for any information? I told him I placed the order last night and he asked me for my name and went to the kitchen. He said that their systems weren't working and it'll be an additional 10mins. I stood to the side to wait and observed. One guy that was on the phone came over to explain that their system doesn't work the way they intended it to. I simply told him that I expected my order to be ready since I placed it last night and it gave me the option to choose a time slot. He said a lot of people have said the same and he's told his manager but it sounded like the manager didn't care. A little over 10mins of waiting, I received my order. Order: Netted egg rolls - good concept but once you bite into the egg roll, the fried net part just falls apart. Pork & shrimp spring roll - this is very fresh and everyone's favorite Meatball Banh Hoi - the portion of the nem nuong and egg roll was very small. The bowl was mainly banh hoi. Grilled chicken bun - again, filled with noodles and veggies but very little chicken Overall, the prices were reasonable.

Yelp
This is my new go to place to get egg rolls for parties! I used to order from King Eggroll, but stopped years ago once their rolls pretty became all cabbage with barely any meat. I've tried the regular, net, and vegetarian egg rolls from here, and all were delicious and got a thumbs up approval. I've also tried their wings and banh khot, but would skip it next time. The wings were crispy but dry on the inside, and the banh khot was too thick and wide for everyone's liking. The flavor was just ok as well even when dipped with sauce. I've had better banh khot elsewhere. The egg rolls are a bit on the pricier side, but you can taste the difference in quality and they give you quite a good amount of filling. Hoping that this place is a permanent fixture to the area and stays!

Yelp
Ambiance is cool. In a small shopping lot. Wait was kind of ridiculous lol. 45 min wait for a few eggrolls. And the Banh cot. Egg rolls were 7.10/10. Banh Cot solid 7.8/10. Wouldn't go back again unless someone else wanted to try it. Cool owners and workers.

Yelp
Booked this place just for their eggrolls! Unfortunately, this was one of the worst eggrolls I had in a while! For a place that called themselves eggrolls, I expected their signature dish to be eggrolls. After my family and I ate at Hue, we decided to stop by here to pick up appetizers. Nothing about this place stood out. Both eggrolls, the net and regular ones tasted stale. Wished I had read the older reviews about their eggrolls because the top ones were very deceiving! When we got there, there was only one couple waiting for their order on the table. My husband ordered two regular eggrolls, two net eggrolls, and one order of the banh khot. Even though there was no line, the girl still manages to mess up our order! She gave another customer our order of the four eggrolls when she ordered two. I had to check to see if my husband ordered the four and she quickly apologized that she handed me the two pieces. Not sure how she messed up when it was not busy! When it came down to sauces, they were pretty stingy. You only get to choose one sauce.. sweet and sour or fish sauce. Both were already pre-packed too. When our banh khot came, she handed it to me in a bag. My husband and I tried it fresh in the car and of course, the plastic spoon she gave us was dirty (brown stain). The banh knot itself was only okay. Not even tasty! Not worth checking this place out considering that SJ had so many cheaper, and way better appetizers. We ended up throwing away the eggrolls and stopped by Cha Ca Long Phung to get super good and crispy eggrolls that were also cheaper than here. SJ Eggrolls was also quiet and bright, but super emptied inside. Definitely would not come back. The reason they got two stars was because one of the guy workers gave my two year old toddler a tiny little sticker, he brought a few sheets to show him and gave him a minuscule one, smaller than the size of a baby's picky nailbed. Kind gesture but what a joke... I would not recommend this place.
