Went here for a traditional,but premium, Swedish julbord. At almost 1200 SEK per person, drinks excluded, expectations were fairly high. The booked table was upstairs but as we had a person in the party with walking difficulties we asked to be moved downstairs and that was arranged even though it was very busy. Much appreciated! The selection of various herrings and types of salmon was outstanding and everything required for a julbord was available. Fresh food was brought out as soon as trays were becoming empty. Topnotch service all evening, with staff being attentive and clearing used plates quickly. Excellent selection of desserts to choose from. My only gripe for this fairly expensive evening is that coffee after the meal wasn't included in the price.

Additionally, the restaurant is water-friendly, offering outdoor seating so you may savor your meal while taking in the passing boats. The elegant and serene setting is ideal for a special celebration, a family meal, or a romantic evening. The serene atmosphere is enhanced by everything, including the background music and lighting. One of Gothenburg's top seafood eateries is Sjömagasinet. It provides a genuinely unforgettable eating experience with its extensive menu, lovely setting by the river, excellent service, and welcoming atmosphere.

Had their Christmas buffet (julbord) and I can say it was the best one I've had so far. Great assortment of cold and warm dishes, fresh crayfish and crabs, and a nice dessert buffet as well. I was so full afterwards... :)

Had an outstanding business lunch at Sjömagasinet during the Christmas season, and it was nothing short of spectacular. It was an exceptional Nordic experience. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding, complemented by an extensive wine list and a highly knowledgeable staff. While it is not inexpensive, the experience is undoubtedly worth the investment. My only suggestion would be to include Swedish wine in the menu

A nice place in a beautiful location. Service was calm and friendly as I like it. Wine list was excellent. Food in highest quality. If you like seafood and high quality restaurants- give it a try.

When in Gothenburg, you need to experience the seafood and what other place to do it than here!We had the summer lunch buffet and the food and service was great, seafood was fresh and they also had marinated herring and some cheese afterwards. But the main focus is the seafood. The main dish was a fish gratain which was a tad bit too salty for me. Overall a great experience. Not the cheapest but quality was great.
