"Though you don’t have to know any secret knocks or seek out a light letting folks know it’s open, Skaalvenn Distillery is one of the most original cocktail lounges just outside of the metro. Wander the labyrinth of the unassuming Brooklyn Park business center’s carpeted floors, past the sunken plaza that recalls mall-rat memories of many a visitor’s youth, and follow signs for Skaalvenn. You’re in for a quick switch from drop ceilings and harsh panel lights to a dark and cozy ambiance. The cocktails feature the distillery’s spirits. The menu is secretive and changes weekly — but rest assured there’s something for everyone from a clarified milk punch to a modern twist on an Old Fashioned, and the skilled mixologists are happy to whip up an expertly made classic cocktail for you, too.
