New Singapore bars to check out before the end of 2018 - SilverKris

"Sitting atop a landmark city hotel with panoramic skyline views, this contemporary fine-dining bar creates nature-inspired cocktails organized around four altitudes—Sea, Rainforest, High Desert and Alpine—each using natural ingredients paired with premium spirits. Standout drinks include the Nori Highball from the Sea category, built with Laphroaig 10, Manzanilla sherry, nori and Ace apple cider, and The Summit from Alpine, which blends Reyka vodka, Tempus Fugit Duplais Absinthe Verte, wild strawberry and smoky volcanic oak elements." - Karen Fong

I had an unforgettable evening at the bar on the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford. From the moment I stepped in, the ambience set the tone. It was sophisticated, intimate, and effortlessly elegant. Soft lighting, plush seating, and beautifully thought-out interior design created a cosy yet luxurious space perfect for winding down. And then, the view was simply spectacular. Even through the misted glass from the evening rain, the sweeping panorama of Singapore’s city lights was breathtaking. Watching the streets and skyline glitter from above made the entire experience feel magical and serene. The food and drinks were good. The Iberia pork skewers were tender and flavourful, the fried chicken crispy and addictive. However, the fries were overdone. Service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall comfort of the night. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a quiet, atmospheric place to enjoy good food, great drinks, and one of the best night views in Singapore, this sky bar is absolutely worth the visit. I will definitely be back.

Skai High Tea Review Overall only good for the venue - high floor with city skyline view. But only if you can get window seat. Requested for one in advance, was told noted request but subject to availability. Probably more of “first come-first serve” as we took 3pm time slot instead of 230pm. On arrival, the early birds already taken up the window seats. Recommend book 230pm slot or whichever earliest. Food was decent taste but nothing special compared to other high tea sets in SG. You would give it a pass but no items really stood out or make it memorable. Drinks were disappointing. Most high tea places give a choice of 2 drinks. Skai only 1. Which is pathetic. Though was TWG but tea selection wasn’t huge. And worse thing is you need to pay extra $5 for the more premium tea selections. Otherwise you will only get basic tea like Chamomile Earl Grey Breakfast etc. Quite disappointing. In comparison some other high tea places may have special blends (which would have made it more worth the extra cost perhaps). Thus once again, nothing special. Service was average overall. The waiter who attended to us was friendly. But otherwise that’s about it. They don’t exhibit the small details that (we don’t really need it but when it’s absent, you think back and compare with other establishments) - pulling the chair out for the lady, helping to lay our napkins, asking us how’s the food is, thanking us goodbye etc when we leave etc etc. Overall would still recommend if need a venue in SG to go for a fanciful purpose but nothing special.

I love to bring my friends there, whether local or foreigners. The atmosphere, and the warm welcomed hospitality by the friends (feel paiseh to call them ‘servers’).. really gave us a feeling like having drink with your friends and nice Singapore skyline…

If you want to see an unblocked view of the NDP fireworks, this is the place to be! 🎆 SKAI offers a one-of-a-kind sky-high dining experience for $198 per person we got to try their new Tuna Bar and 12 to 12 concept, and it was incredible. From fresh-cut tuna, free-flow caviar, and premium Wagyu to cocktails that hit just right, every detail was top-tier. Watching the fireworks from 70 floors up while enjoying such amazing food? Absolutely unforgettable. Highly recommend booking a table before the last few Saturdays are gone!

Great place! The tallest place I've ever been. The view is amazing, you can see most of the city from here. The sunset was incredible as well. The food tasted great. They have tons of variety of beverages. Service was amazing as well. One thing that fascinates me the most is the restroom that they provide, really luxirious and comfortable :)

Fabulous experience. Julieanne was wonderful getting us seated in a great spot for the view even though we did not make a reservation. The mood and view was spectacular. We had a wonderful time. We will be back😀

Yelp
A lovely afternoon tea experience in Singapore with a view of Marina Bay. Although we didn't get a window-side table, the overall atmosphere and view were still enjoyable. The restaurant was spacious with a calm, elegant ambience, and the service was excellent throughout. We had made a reservation in advance--which is definitely recommended, as it gets quite booked. Afternoon tea was priced at 68 SGD per person, plus service charges. The set included a selection of savory sandwiches, scones, sweet pastries, gelato, and a variety of teas. Presentation was beautiful and thoughtful. The desserts were well-balanced and not overly sweet, though some of the bread items were slightly dry. Overall, a memorable experience and a great way to enjoy a relaxing afternoon in another country.

Yelp
Ambiance , Stafg Service , Drinks are all excellent. What came down is that they don't serve food until 6pm. My reservation was from 5-6pm and they only serve drinks. I came here for both. Disappointed that can't serve the food (small plates ) until 6pm.

Yelp
It was a nice experience eating at this restaurant in Singapore - very scenic view from the 70th floor restaurant. The view was great, we got there before sunset and were able to take great pics for close to three hours. We were expecting some fireworks, but it was a small "light show" that lasted about 10 minutes. Our 4-course meal included: shima aji (ponzu, yuzu kosho, finger lime), hokkaido scallop, wagyu sirloin (truffle, potato, mushroom), araguani chocolate. Wasn't bad, but the wagyu sirloin was a bit on the fatty and chewy side...

Yelp
Upon researching things to do in Singapore, afternoon tea popped up and I found SKAI as one of the best places to enjoy afternoon tea in the city. I made a reservation online for two people. SKAI is located inside the Swissôtel: the Stamford, on the 70th floor, overlooking Marina Bay. We were almost late for our reservation so upon entering the lobby, I had to ask one of the staff. We were directed down a hallway to the elevator. We made it up to SKAI and checked in with the hostess. There happened to be a few bridal showers and a baby shower being hosted in the restaurant that day, so it was busy. We were seated in the middle of the room and not by a window but that was okay. It would have been nice to have been seated near the window, but we had a pretty good view from where we sat anyway. The afternoon tea ($68 SGD) consisted of choice of tea or coffee, smoked eel blini, duck rillettes, smoked salmon, mortadella, beetroot tart, matcha yuzu lychee tart, strawberry Japanese cheesecake, Skai calamansi muscat macaron, Hojicha roulade, Nespresso mikan choux pastry, mochi, comte cheese & tomato quiche, and Madagascar vanilla scones with cream and strawberry marmalade. For the teas, we chose the French Earl grey and the Royal Orchid. What is impressive about the tea is the presentation. The pastries come out on this 3 tiered Sakura themed tray and it's beautiful. That combined with the view of the bay was really an unforgettable experience. If you would like champagne, that's an add-on but I do believe it's unlimited until a certain time. The service was okay. I had to flag down a server for assistance a few times but I understand that they were busy with the other guests. It's just a shame that it was hard to get a server's attention. I ended up paying by getting up to flag someone at the host's stand and not at my table. It was a good experience and the view is amazing. I'm glad I got to experience it while in Singapore.

Yelp
If you are reading this and deciding if you should go, just go to their website and make a reservation already. One of the top experience I had in Singapore - such a great way to spend an afternoon with friends over this amazing view and ambience. The afternoon tea itself was very filling as there are a lot of items, they were above average but I wasn't really blown away with any of them. They have a great selection on coffee and tea, we all loved what we ordered. Not sure if I would come again for afternoon tea but I definitely had a great experience here.

Yelp
Skai is a place where epic views is an understatement. Arguably one of the best vantage points on the whole islands. Great view where you get views of marina and mbs and financial district. We came for high noon tea, after trying high noon tea at The Fullerton I can say I prefer this one. I did the cocoa bacha coffee which was good, but not my favorite coffee on the trip. The offerings of both savory and sweets was great. I loved the quiche and really everything on the tray. We came at the beginning of serving tea at 3. If you get there early you have time to take pictures of the city. The food was filling and I had to pace myself in order to eat most of what was on the tray. In between eating I took many photos of the city. I would say in coming to Singapore eating at Skai makes for a memorable experience. Highly recommend the high noon tea.

Yelp
Beautiful view and food. Service was way below expectations. Took a very long time for our contails, food, and even getting the check.

Yelp
Came here for high tea on a Monday. Food is average, some better than others (hence deducting a star). Nothing mind blowing but let's be real. You come for the view ;) Definitely book in advance and note in the comments to request for a window seat. If you forget just give them a call. Thankfully during COVID it's not as hard to get as pre-COVID. Something to think about -- if it's a super sunny day, your photo will be backlit and you will look SUPER dark. No amount of filtering (unless you're a professional) will make it look natural. So actually coming on a cloudy day is perfect. In terms of timing, high tea starts at 3pm. No need to arrive super early as they will only let you up starting 2:50/55pm. Entrance to hotel is currently closed so enter through the Brasserie.

Yelp
My niece is heading to LA for college. My sis wanted to take her to a nice non-rowdy lounge. Note the legal drinking age in Singapore is 18. While my sis was away on a trip, I found a few options and let my niece choose. She chose the SKAI bar located at Swissotel The Stamford. Making a reservation is a breeze, I simply made the reservation online and chose the date, time and number of adults. This bar is definitely elevated on the 70th floor of Swissotel The Stamford. The night view was stunning though one really can't take any quality picture with the camera on the cellphones. SERVICE 5/5 I was the first to arrive (of course right? Almost everyone who made plans with me tend to show up late. I wonder why?) I approached one staff and mentioned I had made a reservation. She led me to a table and since I noted on my reservation I would prefer us to get a table next to the floor to ceiling glass window, she said once a table by the windows opened up, I would be the first to get it. True enough a party left and the staffs quickly cleaned up that table and moved my water and snacks over. My sis and niece finally showed up almost half an hour later. We got our drinks and staffs would check on us periodically if we needed anything. I ordered a round of fries and they were really good. AMBIENCE 5/5 This is not a family (with young children) friendly place. The bar is not huge but a good size. I like the ambience and the view from the 70th floor was beautiful. FOOD/BEVERAGE 4/5 Limited non-alcoholic drinks. I wish there is a lot more variety. The fries were amazing!! I wanted to order another round. It was $10 a small basket. I thought it was not too expensive. Definitely need to add more bar bites on the menu. How about some chicken tenders?? Overall, it is a wonderful place and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a cozy place to unwind while enjoying the stunning view.

Yelp
So glad to secure SkAI restaurant reservation @Swissotel Stamford! We had so much experience at this ex-Compass Rose years back. We are happy that this place is well transformed and even more updated. The concerted iconic city views curated with our prime beef and fresh seafood menu is timeless and we have a great server, Carmela. She knows in and out and helps in every aspect! This makes our mom happy! When mom is happy, everyone is happy!

Yelp
happy valentine's day! surprisingly difficult to secure a dinner booking on this special day for couples! given the current circumstances, i just assumed it would be a breeze to do so. going through my list of must try restaurants, i became increasingly concerned that every one of them was fully committed for this cupid's day!:( having exhausted the must try, i quickly moved on to my for-that-special-occasion list. it was clear as skai, which i should try! surprisingly lucky to secure a table here! booked online, got a CONFIRMATION email and was simply relieved that i was all set!:) can you imagine my utter surprise when we showed up punctually for dinner and they did not have my booking???!!! tried my booking name, tried my phone number and tried my email. the lady who was searching, came up blank! i peeped over the screen and saw a booking that looked like mine but with a cancelled next to it. she then proceeded to explain to me why my booking was cancelled. trying to tell me they tried to call me, no answer and then scrambling to show me an email they send, to reconfirm my already confirmed booking, which i never did receive! it started to look like a disaster! any decent service oriented staff, with common sense, would at this point see if they can try to accommodate us, hapless guests? instead she was the epitome of tunnel vision, overwhelmed in trying to show me the cancelling email, that to me was immaterial at that point in time. another staff had to intervene and was more than happy to have us dine with them but gently reminded me that it was valentine's day set menu only. to which my answer was, yes, i made the booking especially for that said menu! she apologized for the unfortunate mix up and started to usher us to our seats. as we finally walked in, another staff hoped that we will enjoy ourselves despite the unfortunate start. this venue has always been fantastic when it comes to views. the décor has been updated and acoustics much improved! unsurprisingly now, as romantic as it gets! so will the food fail them? valentine's day set menu have been notoriously disappointing, especially when it comes to the value for money quotient. at first glance, it did look pricey but i believed that if they executed well, all's good! two celebratory glasses of taittinger to cool you and get you in the mood. next, cep butter was nice but their sourdough loaf has room for improvement. i decided against the raw irish oysters and my valentine gladly had a double serving whilst i opted for the additional supplement of caviar. she would most definitely be primed for the night ahead!;) next up, lobster, slightly muted for some taste buds, but in my opinion simple is better than being overpowered by unnecessary sauces. foie gras was surprisingly a generous slab, perfectly cooked but just lacking that single pinch of salt. we both chose the A4 wagyu strip. and the conclusion is that A4 is just not A5. yes, it's more of a chew than A5 for sure, not surprisingly so. but still a richly marbled flavourful piece, still soft and tender enough. dessert will have most sweet toothed purring. surprisingly generous threesome. starting with a single bite matcha cornetto erected in a small glass jar of edible heart and raspberry chocolate nibbles. followed by the main rose shaped dreamy looking baked cheese cake for loving sharing, thankfully not cloyingly sweet. and finally finishing with decadent chocolates for a really wonderful aphrodisiac ending!
