Seattle’s Skillet Closes Its Food Truck and Catering Operations Permanently | Eater Seattle

"I note that the Regrade location on Sixth Avenue is open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery and offers the same modern American, comfort-food menu the operation is known for." - Gabe Guarente

My son and I were in town for a couple days and the morning we landed we came here for breakfast. The food was pretty good so I was surprised to see this place at a 4.1 stars. The chorizo skillet was good, tasty and had good flavor. My son got the chicken and waffle and he liked it as well. The waffle had a cinnamon taste to it. Overall nice spot to grab a quick bite. We sat at the bar area and at the time it was not too busy. Only down side was there were what seemed to be fruit flys by the bar area so had to constantly shew them away.

This place has the best breakfast! Your way eggs, bacon, and sausage is awesome. Flora and Haven, our servers, gave us a wonderful experience at the Skillet restaurant.

Google
Small location but there were open tables when we arrived so there was no wait even though it was late morning on a Sunday. Staff was friendly and attentive but all ordering is through an app so interactions were few and we didn't drink any alcohol so only needed food delivery to our table. Food was very good and exactly as we ordered so no complaints and my coffee was refilled without having to ask. I would definitely eat here again.

I like to check the menu online before I go to the restaurant and here is the thing- the price online doesn't match the price you pay (before tax). For example, the breakfast burrito is $18.50 on their online menu page but when you are ordering it online or in-store the price is $20.99 (before tax). Another thing- when you order a side of chicken online it's $7 (before tax) and you can add up to 3 sauces for free; there are a couple that do cost extra, such as poutine gravy or bacon jam, but most of them are free. However, if you order in store, all sauces cost $0.75. I tried their breakfast burrito ($20.99 or $23.16 after tax) with chicken and a Fried Chicken Thigh ($7) with two sauces: Jalapeno aioli and Gorgeous Sauce. The breakfast burrito. Paying $23 after tax for a burrito is coconuts, even in Seattle. It is quite filling and has a lot of chicken, but the taste itself is meh. The fried chicken thigh is good especially when dipped in a jalapeno aioli sauce.

I've never been here before but they said they play Seahawks games, which I love to watch during brunch so I came by. The practice of having people order in an app instead of with a server feels a little cold but it is convenient. You'd think with all the time this frees up for the servers other things would be taken care of, but the counter was dirty, the napkins were empty and there were dirty dishes on the counter waiting for the dishwasher. There weren't very many people in there. They didn't take any empty/used stuff away as you eat to make room. If you want water you have to get it yourself from the water station. You're very much left alone. It makes you wonder why the prices are so high. When the game went into halftime I was going to order another drink but instead they changed the game to Comedy Central even though we were right there in front of it actively participating? Guess they wanted me not to order anything else and wanted me to leave. The food and drinks are good, it's too bad the vibes are off.

Great food! Neat menu! Nice to have outdoor seating! Came here for brunch the day after a bit of a sad first night on our vacation to Seattle, and the disappointment of another restaurant. We were a bit worried that maybe the food in Seattle wouldn't be so good, but this place turned that perception around quickly. My sister and mother shared the breakfast burrito, which they enjoyed thoroughly, and I opted for a burger with bacon, fried egg, and crispy onions on it. It was awesome! Service was good too. Prompt, and even checked on us at one point, despite it being the sort of establishment that didn't necessarily expect to offer it. Highly recommend.

Food was tasty. We both got burgers. I do think that it is overpriced though.

Yelp
Amazing food! We would've posted photos of the full meal but started eating and couldn't stop. I had the cluck chub brekky with kale Caesar and he had the breakfast skillet. Easy to order and food came out fast. The only reason I gave it less than 5 stars is because it's a bit pricey (but you get a lot of food) and I don't want it being so popular it's always too crowded haha

Yelp
I tried this place due to seeing a buy 1 get 1 free promo on uber eats as my first impression of this place is - everything is overpriced. In person, a breakfast burrito is $20.99 and it's not even that special to be such a high price point (aside from being a prime location). I got the fried chicken breakfast burrito and added bacon jam to it. The fried chicken isn't even fried chicken - the batter is soggy and mushy (not because of being in the burrito), which kind of reminds me of grocery store fried chicken. The eggs were scrambled easy which I liked, and the pico de gallo and bacon jam add flavor to it. The burrito is fairly heavy and filling. Overall, quite mediocre and only considerable if it's buy 1 get 1 free. Definitely not worth the regular price tag.

Yelp
We had such a great time here! The service was super sweet and quick and there was no line at all so we were able to sit down very quickly and be served! The food was delicious, loved the morning potatoes. The dips were also awesome and I loved my sandwich! Seating was super comfortable and cute!

Yelp
The Chicken Sammy is amazing. Breaded and fried while staying moist, excellent aioli with a spicy kick, fresh and fluffy bun. It's a great dish. My colleague has allergy concerns, and even though they don't have a specific food allergy menu, they went above and beyond to make sure she was taken care of, which mattered because of the time and the fact we were headed to the airport and needed a meal she could rely on.

Yelp
I don't know why there are such mediocre reviews, this was a pleasant spot for dinner tonight. My husband had left something in the office and we had slipped downtown for dinner and were going to head to Rachel Ginger Beers and Maono for a quick but they were running out of a few items so decided to try Skillet. The service was friendly and the food was came out promptly. The booths are comfortable and tables were clean. I really enjoyed the kale caesar with grilled chicken--the chicken had so much flavor (so often the chicken in salads is such an afterthought). Our youngest enjoyed his mac and cheese and the burgers were good too. A really solid dinner spot!

Yelp
Quite possibly the best burger I have ever had-I'm a fan! My last meal in Seattle and I wanted to make sure to not leave hungry-I definitely didn't! Ordered at counter, found d a seat, then food was brought out to us. Clean style, we really enjoyed our lunch.

Yelp
Tasty and simple food, but overpriced. We ordered the grilled cheeses with a side of soup which came out to $44 dollars. The grilled cheese was very well done, and very cheesy. The soup was good, had a pleasant flavour profile, but could've been hotter (it was just warm). The restaurant had plenty of seating available at 8pm -- we were the only ones there. All the tables are along the walls and set up for groups of 2-6. There is not much street parking in the area, but Amazon garage public parking available. The service was quick and very polite.

Yelp
(First let me say that I love the Capitol Hill location, 5 stars all the way.) This location was not a great experience though. There is no table service aside from being brought your food. One of our plates was not even put in to the kitchen and then when when we brought it to the servers attention and it did come out it was the wrong thing. Also, no apology for the mistake. Was never offered a refill on our coffee. We were also the only people in the restaurant. Horrible customer service. The girl was nice enough, but just kind of there. No above and beyond at all! This is what happens when you prepay for your food and they expect a tip before hand as well. Nope!

Rick C.

Yelp
Are you kidding me. Ordered garlic fries. Got fries with coarsely chopped chunks of raw garlic on cold fries. Yuck You can see the size of the tiny chicken burger. Which was super dry $29.50 USD Ripped Off
google avatar

Charlie S.

Yelp
A pleasant pit stop going to and from space needle and Westfield or Amazon sphere. Ordered an Irish coffee because it was one of those days, with a chub and a poutine. Oddly, the tip that day was 6.66... Poutines a little dry, but it might have to be this way to get the gravy going. Quiet when I went in, and somewhat counterintuitively not many power plugs by the table (they're at the bar): staff are courteous and the place has a pleasant vibe. Music isn't too loud, you can tune it out. Might get another Irish coffee for the road...

Yelp
Came here for breakfast early one morning. The food tasted good but was extremely greasy. The service was very friendly and quick.
google avatar

Su-jen Y.

Yelp
Love the food! The Nashville hot chicken was quite spicy. It looks like the chicken are chicken thighs from the menu but that makes it a very dry chicken thigh, not juicy enough for chicken thighs. That would be my only complaint. My friends thought the garlic fries were over garlicky haha Overall would visit again.
google avatar

Katy R.

Yelp
Great options and quick service! Staff was friendly and helped answer questions. We went for breakfast, but other options looked good too!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice diner, once you're inside you can order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. I got the Cobb salad and a side of garlic fries which didn't take long to make and the fries were fresh and hot. I also got a side of their jalapeño aioli that was delicious. They have a self serve water station near the back of the restaurant so you can help yourself if you're thirsty. It was very quaint and they also have a nice big patio outside as well.

Yelp
When a friend suggested this place for breakfast, I was skeptical. It wasn't what I considered a traditional breakfast and the prices were unreal. Ironically, At 10am, there were no breakfast potatoes, which rendered much of the menu incomplete. This forced me into a sandwich which was way too much for what it was. It was cooked correctly and tasted ok, but it wasn't worth the money, wasn't the item I had hoped to try and the overall experience was just weak. No question I have paid much less for much better and would not consider returning here, even if the meal was free. What's next, if the Mexican spot down the road gonna run out of salsa?
google avatar

Jeffrey D.

Yelp
Food was okay, we got the skillet omelette but it's nothing special. The bathroom door was broken and the spot is self service. But it's better than most of the other options next to the Amazon office
google avatar

Zermin A.

Yelp
Well a solid 3.5 stars I say! Pros: Great location The Nashville Chicken burger was fantastic! Loved the heat in the sauce! The chicken was hearty and fried crispy and well! The pickles hit the spot! Cons: the garlic fries were well below average and definitely not worth the extra $4 to substitute The kale salad was dry and lacked dressing Little overpriced in my opinion Place is cramped and way too busy during lunch
google avatar

J P.

Yelp
Three of my friends won't come here anymore because they don't accept cash. I also find that to be an annoying policy! I've been here twice myself and the food is good but bland. The toast with strawberry jam is great as is the bacon. The young lady at the restaurant front counter was friendly. It's clean and bright inside. I'd come back if I was close by.

Anjum A.

Yelp
Tomato bisque was excellent! So were the burgers!!! Service was quick. Ambiance is diner style and laid back. Music list made the whole experience awesome!
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
I ordered the salmon burger and kale cesar salad. The salmon was delicious! It was on a potato bun. The bread held up but it got a bit messay at times. The kale cesar wasn't that great. There wasn't enough dressing or the dressing that was there didn't have a strong flavor. The restaurant was smaller inside and had plenty of tables outside too. It was a perfect lunch spot for a quick bite.
google avatar

Ric F.

Yelp
I had a burger, a twice cooked burger. It was super salty, and the patty tasted like they had already cooked it earlier and threw it back on the griddle before serving it out to me... I've had a dry overcooked burger but his was not hat... definitely tasted reheated. Bummer, because it has a cool vibe and they serve alcohol... I'd skip it and find something else.
google avatar

Jennifer U.

Yelp
Cobb Salad was delicious! One of the best. I'm not usually the biggest fan of blue cheese, but this salad was perfect with the light vinaigrette. Everything in the salad worked well together. It was also big portions, and could've easily been split between two people. It looks like a good place for any meal - breakfast, lunch or dinner. Great place to hangout with friends and have a drink or two at the end of the day.. Will be back when in Seattle again!

Travis S.

Yelp
Very mediocre for the price. $98 for my wife and I, kids 12 & 8. Ordered over hard eggs and they came with runny whites and yokes. Toast was so dry it turned to powered when biting and the whole table could hear me crew it. Waffles didn't come with syrup or butter. Toast plates had no butter or jam either. They did provide those things when we requested this. The server was pleasant and the bacon, OJ & burrito was good.

Yelp
Hovering around 4-4.5 here, not sure why it seems so low! I thought I was viewing the wrong location, but nope this is where I went. This location closer to Amazon seems to be a smaller sub-location of the Skillet in Capitol Hill with the same menu items, just less options (names are the same, etc). Each item seems to have a WOW half (burger/chicken) and then an "okay" half (sides/waffle) which means I have to find some sort of balance. You get some sort of side with a burger and not sure what I'd recommend. Each has their own pros and cons. The tomato soup is very solid and tasty but rather smaller compared to others. Fries on the other hand come in a generous amount, but they aren't anything to write home about. With that in mind, they aren't really the main stars because the burgers are. These burgers are delicious and all of them are priced the same, so close your eyes and pick one. The Basic is a strong choice when you're unsure and don't know what to get, it's not going to be overwhelming in case you don't like an ingredient yet it's going to be crafted exceptionally well. I'm also a fan of the breakfast options. Honestly, one of my favorite chicken and waffles as of now. The chicken is amazing, both tender and juicy. I like it more than Ma'ono and I know a ton of people like their chicken. Having eggs as an option is a nice addition to the meal, would recommend it. The waffle unfortunately isn't anything amazing but I am pleased with the combination.

Yelp
HAPPY HOUR REVIEW: My husband and I had just arrived to downtown Seattle and were looking for a place to grab a late lunch. We noticed Skillet Regrade offered a small happy hour menu every day from 3-7, and that their small bites all ranged from $2-4, so we decided to stop by. Here is what we ordered: 1. Fried Pickles ($2)- I'm not a big fan of pickles, but I decided to try them because of the jalapeño aioli sauce. The sauce was bomb, the pickles were not. 2. Garlic Fries ($3)- Huge serving! The lemon aioli dipping sauce wasn't my favorite, but the fries were well seasoned and not overly greasy. 3. Sliders ($4 each or 3 for $10)- Juicy and on point. 4. 3 Mini corn dogs ($3)- Served with a mustard BBQ and actually really good! Overall, I didn't expect to be too impressed by your typical bar food, but I was pleasantly surprised. Plus, the prices were tough to beat. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
We came here on New Years Day, Happy 2023, sure glad we did! I got the Nashville Hot Chicken with garlic fries (picture attached) and the significant other got some burger (can't remember) with a side of the Poutine. He said the poutine was soooo good that he should of just order that alone because the serving size was big, plus it's filling. The side of garlic fries were so good, wish I could of finished all my food, but what's new, I never do lol. Anyways, def check it out while in Seattle. Will most likely come back to visit from California if we're in the state again.
google avatar

Doug C.

Yelp
I have been here for a hour and no food. Only one person working the front of the house. With the prices they charge you would think they could afford more staff.
google avatar

Joshua M.

Yelp
Used to be quite a great little breakfast place, now it's like they have done this too many times and aren't even thinking about it anymore. Shit or get off the pot! Also, the rent is TOO Damn high. Close and let someone that still gives a shit take over.
google avatar

Yelp
Ohh man. The breakfast burrito and fries that haunt my dreams. Saying the city is my reason for revisiting Seattle would be a lie. Such a nice restaurant nestled in a great area. Big windows with a beautiful view of the garden across the street. Being able to order from your phone is great, leaving you to ask for things whenever you may need it. Might not be for everyone but it was great for us. The breakfast burrito was great, but the fries really shine, portion sizes are HUGE as well.
google avatar

Bbt T.

Yelp
Came here for dinner. Happen to catch their happy hour. Order several things and tried out some of their beer. Price: Happy hour price was good. Food: decent however either the batter was old or the oil was old because everything was burnt and dark. Not very appetizing. I figure I would still try it because there was a lot of other good eating but my eyes did not deceive me. It was bitter and had a burnt taste to it. Service: was ok. Not welcoming but not rude. I guest you have to be a hipster or understand the vibe here. Cause it wasn't what I expected at a place like this. Was it bad? No? Was it good? Ehh... Would I come back? No.

Yelp
Very delicious food and our server, Richard, was extremely delightful and congenial. Highly recommend for friends and family. Food was also priced well.

Yelp
Casual brunch spot in Seattle. I got the Kale Caesar with Fried Chicken. A half portion was about $16 after tax and was a pretty large amount of food, I couldn't finish it all! The fried chicken was juicy, crisp, and flavorful and the kale Caesar was refreshing and had plenty of cheese. I would come here again!

Christina D.

Yelp
This review is based on the service we received. We came to this restaurant at 8:10pm and walked in to a very cold hostess. We said hello and she just looked at us, no response. We then asked if we could order food and she said yes but we close at 9:00. That was nearly an hour from the time we walked into the restaurant. We asked if the food took long to cook and she replied that if we ordered a well done burger it would take 20 minutes. That would only put us at 8:30 with 30 minutes still to eat before closing, if we even chose to order a burger. She brought us our waters without saying a single word. We were very disappointed in the quality of service we received. This was our first time here and we were excited to be in Seattle.
google avatar

Alexandria W.

Yelp
Really yummy brunch/lunch spot! It's near a lot of the Amazon buildings so it gets really busy during the lunch rush and you'll have to wait in line for a bit. I got the avocado breakfast burrito and it comes with a side of fries or salad. The burrito's a little salty but super tasty and it even has fries inside! It is on the expensive side but it comes in a big portion and generous sides so it makes sense to me

Marcus R.

Yelp
get the Mac and cheese with bacon jam and add chopped bacon. trust unreal good and the service was awesome. hidden gem that not pompous but has that level of quality.
google avatar

Caroline T.

Yelp
Taking a risk to visit this spot during the lunch rush paid off, and I found out Skillet Regrade makes a pretty mean (delicious) burger. It was my first time here, and right as you walk in the menu is pretty much in your face as the menu boards are right above the counter where you order. The distance from the entrance to the counter is also just a few steps, so I can only imagine how packed it gets when ordering/leaving. I went with The Burger (bacon jam, creamy bleau cheese, and arugla on a brioche bun) with a side of fries. With tip and tax it came out to about $20. Next to the pickup area there's a small condiment station (ketchup and mustard pumps), and a water station (glasses if you're staying in and plastic glasses if you're leaving/waiting for your to-go order). The burger was tasty but a bit messy, and their fries are seasoned with a bit of garlic too so if you're bringing a date here and aren't at that comfort level yet, be mindful that your breath may end up being too fresh. I actually liked the arugla with the burger; added a freshness to balance out the bacon jam. I'll definitely come back to try their Happy Hour food. Tips: -Looking for the silverware and napkins? Each table and at the countertop has several sets of silverware and napkins (and some hot sauce) -Eating in? Far right of the counter there's bins to put your dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware. I didn't see a sign saying that customers were required to bus their own tables, but since its there you might as well. There's also a sink to the left of this area, which I liked, to wash your hands before you left -If you need extra assistance and/or have a wheelchair, cane, crutches, etc. just be aware that the entrance has limited spacing (though I'm sure the staff would be able to assist with clearing people). There is a ramp at the bar side of their counter (where stools are located), and a side door in that seating section. However this door appeared locked, as nobody was using it? -Must be 21 and over to sit at the counter, as it also houses their alcohol selection -Ordering a burger? They don't ask you off the bat how you want it cooked (mine was cooked medium), so if you have a preference be sure to tell them

Yelp
Good food but definitely a little pricey for what it has to offer. We stopped here on New Year's Day after going to the Amazon spheres and realizing that lots of places were either closed or busy. It's a cute place to stop by but nothing really stood out here to me. I had the avocado breakfast burrito and my husband had the fried chicken and waffles. The avocado burrito was good but it was a little ordinary to me. I didn't try the fried chicken but the waffle was pretty good with the butter and syrup. I liked this place but honestly, it wasn't anything amazing to me. I didn't mind coming here but I don't think I'd care to come here again.
google avatar

Nathan T.

Yelp
The burger- blue cheese, bacon jam, arugula, on a brioche bun... add garlic fries ... Yes! Cooked medium to perfection and juicy. Great little vibe with the open widows and patio seating. They have a happy hour from 3-7 as well.
google avatar

Alan Z.

Yelp
The food here tends to be too salty. I have come for happy hour and have gotten take out from here. The burgers are great and I would recommend them, but they tend to be over seasoned or have too much oil. The tomato soup was way too salty and I wasn't able to finish it. I have also gotten a Caesar salad and that was also too salty. Same with the fries. So just beware that they tend to use too much salt.

Yelp
Fried chicken and poutine should really be more of a thang. Thank goodness there's Skillet Regrade for this marvelous match. I met my friend at Skillet Regrade, as she works at nearby Amazon and told me they had great lunch specials. Having only had Skillet's food truck I decided that the brick and mortar would only be better. It was definitely nice to dine-in, but know that it gets packed during the lunch hour, even though most patrons get their grub to-go. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of poutine. Instead of the regular size sandwich, you can opt for the lunch size, which of course means less money. And the only real difference is that there's one fried chicken thigh instead of two on the sandwich. Um, yeah, I can live with that! Portion may be smaller, but I found it a good size for lunch OR dinner! Poutine just adds the cherry on top, or shall I say, the gravy on top? No matter how many times I've had it, the fried chicken sandwich always hits the spot. The cornmeal fry on the boneless chicken thigh had a zesty flavor, making the juicy chicken all the more tasty. It also had a spicy aioli with kale, which I really like with the chicken. There was some spice, but there was a sour component from the lemon used in the aioli. Dig it! Poutine is a must from Skillet. You have to at least try it, as it's made with their own bacon jam. Fries were handcut. Skillet Regrade, I will be back...especially for the happy hour deals! They serve a full bar here with appetizer specials for less than 10 bucks. But I'm glad I can always count on Skillet for when I want a fried chicken sandwich and poutine. Again, let's make this a combo more often, peeps!

Patrick T.

Yelp
Hello, was recently at the Skillet at SLU cause it's close to my job to possibly see if I could trade food from my job. Conversation escalated quickly when I was called a Monkey by and employee because it's his last day and because he's black he can say had the right to say that. I have video proof and will gladly share it.

Yelp
Was in the mood for a breakfast burrito so I headed over to skillet today. The avocado breakfast burrito was pretty good - it has fries inside and comes with a side of fries as well (can be replaced with soup) ! I wish the cheese inside was a bit more melted. My friend got a chicken and waffles, I only took a bite but it was very crispy! We both wish it could have come with some sauce or was spiced up a bit more bit overall a good experience :) They have seating inside and outside.

Yelp
Very expensive. But the food is decent- their fried chicken sandwich is very tender and tasty - even though the poutine is not real poutine (made with shredded cheddar and parm with mint) it is pretty tasty - I just wouldn't recommend getting it to go- I've been more disappointed than not when I order the poutine to go- the gravy and the fries stay separate since they're packaged separately, but I feel like you get less as a result - maybe that was just me.

Yelp
Tried this place wondering how good it would be as some reviews were mixed. Our experience was great. Food was tasty, served hot and well prepared. Tried the burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. Great place and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Yelp
The food was good, not too many options tho, it seems pretty clean inside, the man who rang me up tho was really rude and condescending to everybody coming in. I won't come back. Other restaurants very close that don't act this way

Tried this place spontaneously one evening and the food was okay for what it's worth. I had the 3 sliders (one of each of the burger flavors that they offer) and I believe it was the Good Burger that I couldn't finish because it had such a distinct taste, but the other two were delicious. On the side I had ordered the garlic fries which tasted good and was a nice shareable portion. We also got the Kale Salad with Blackened Salmon and honestly we could've done without the salmon, it threw off the taste of the entire plate. The restaurant itself was clean and quiet with self-service booths (water, napkins, condiments) both inside and outside. The workers were sociable and helpful.

Yelp
AMAZING happy hour!!! Wow! The food was sooooo good and great prices. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and service. The 3 burger sliders were very good and super different. Awesome prices for happy hour. $5 wine? Yes, please. Walking distance to Amazon Spheres? Perfect!
