"Pete and Molly Skinner bought Skinner’s 23 years ago, but it’s been a beloved West Seventh dive since not long after Prohibition. Come for the exceptional pizza — thin-crust, square-cut, and made from scratch — and the warm, timeless vibe that only a century’s worth of friendly ghosts can conjure." - Justine Jones

Mmmm!! Excellent Pizza and chicken. We phone in our Orders and always have a friendly voice on the other end. Our Orders of chicken and pizza arrives hot, fresh and on time. Our Delivery Driver was super friendly. Thank you. Kendall

Burger took 30 minutes and was served warm, bar was almost empty. I will give them another try, hoping this was just an off night. On the up side good pricing and the food would have been great if it was hot. Update we have been back twice since our first review. Both times the food and service have been excellent. Last night we had the all you can eat Tuesday spaghetti and meatball special and it was a great very fairly priced meal. Also kudos to our excellent server Megan!

I was not happy with this delivery. It took 2 hours to deliver. I ordered mini tacos, which according to the pictures, I thought that they’re like tacos, just smaller. Also there was no meat or other fixings. Feeling very disappointed and hungry

Came in for drinks on a slow Tuesday night. It was really warm outside but in here it was nice and cool. Drinks were cheap for a normal bar and not happy hour. A bottle of Bud Light and a Summit EPA came to 9.50 before tip. That's cheap for this town. Didn't try the food but I have heard good things about it.

Skinner’s makes really, really good pizza. The bacon cheeseburger pizza I ordered was so heavy it was hard to carry. They put so much cheese on the pizzas that the pieces in the middle melt together as the pizza cools when you do take out. So make sure you have a pizza cutter available to finish off the middle pieces. I love Skinner’s pizza and have returned and will return again and again. Delicious.

Bought a house right down the street so I could eat and drink here all the time. Ok, That’s not true. But it has been one of the best parts about our neighborhood Old, established dive bar, with a great staff and EXCEPTIONALLY good bar food. Plus they have a weekly steak night that is just ridiculously awesome and lunch specials that change daily. Honestly, just an incredible local bar that you should definitely check out.

SerpAPI
Small town bar in a big city. Had a great time, food was awesome (I had the steak sandwich) and drinks went down easy. Waitress recommended the apple pie shot which was definitely a WIN. It's winter, but the patio was very nice and well lit. I could imagine it would be a really busy place in the summer months.

Humberto H.

Yelp
Awesome food and they have some great everyday specials. Drinks are cheap and food prices are cheap also. People are friendly and usually locals. Service is quick and friendly. They also do shuttle to and from Vikings, twins, wilds and also concerts.

Robert R.

Yelp
Great Wednesday night special. The steak was perfect. Sat at the bar. Remember that you can't order the special before 5 pm.

Mark W.

Yelp
Had the bacon cheeseburger and fries and it was fantastic. Love the classic old bar. Great place.

Doug D.

Yelp
PBR on tap!! Shuttles to games and concerts!! Great staff!! We stopped before a concert. First time here. Very busy. Dive bar atmosphere. Nice menu. I had a BLT that was very good. The jojos were ok. My wife had the Philly and loved it! Another st our table had the club sandwich which was good. My daughter had the taco special, one chicken, one beef. Very particular diner and she liked them both very much. Great server, very busy but communicated well and were well taken care of. Need to go back for pizza. Hand made crusts visible in kitchen from our table. I love these places.

David M.

Yelp
I heard good things about skinners from a few people, and went for the first time last weekend. I tried the Italian fries and wings - 1/2 Cajun and 1/2 BBQ. The Cajun wings were pretty good, but not a lot of meat on those suckers. The Italian fries were great. I appreciated the amount of cheese they use. Our service/server was awful. She had a bad attitude and never refilled drinks unless asked. I love myself a dive bar, but in my opinion, I'd rather go to a place that serves a smile and friendly service over what we got.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Do you member the old fashioned JoJo potatoes? Well they have them here!!! Delicious burgers, fresh made pizza factory pizzas, fried chicken, daily soups too! Sunday was half price wings which were cooked perfectly and plenty of sauce. Busy little corner bar with great service and prices. Bar area and dining room. Best of both worlds.

Love H.

Yelp
Walked here while waiting for car maintenance to be completed across the street. Upon entry, I was the " only one " and yet the bar was pretty busy but the bartender (never caught her name, but she wore glasses) she greeted me and offered me seating. Being greeted while in a bit of a rush is always a great start to the service that can typically be followed. I ordered the fish sandwich (not walleye) the other. Forgot the menu item. However the fish sandwich came out fresh and hot! The ambiance is your typical small bar atmosphere but the service from the bartender was AMAZING! She was NOT my server, my server service was good too but the bartender set the tone. I will definitely return to have another fish sandwich.

Heather S.

Yelp
Everyone knows I love Skinners! You will find me trying to get tacos on Saturdays most definitely. Wings are so meaty and crispy, and they also have amazing pizza. I've tried the chicken, dang there's a special on Mondays with a large one topping and 8 piece chicken for $20. And it's great! Lots of good specials. Support this small local business full of heart

Jose G.

Yelp
If you love a good Minnesota style pizza, this is the place for you! It's a fun neighborhood spot, nothing fancy, but the food is awesome, the staff fun and the value is great. You don't need to go to those expensive Minneapolis "artisan pizza" places to get the best, it's right here under your nose.

J M.

Yelp
Five star dive bar. Actually a really great place. Great people work and go there. Very very good food at a reasonable price. Daily specials. And daily lunch specials!

Andrea C.

Yelp
Not sure if it was an off day..but my burger was dry and tasteless. My friends Marshall looked great but the bun was hard and not fresh. Love you Skinner's but not today...

King C.

Yelp
Real Good Pizza... A Real Hidden Gem. I really like the Pizza and Wings here. Most things are Good here. Prices are Unbelievable. A Must Try...

Eduardo G.

Yelp
The burgers were just ok. The appetizers were actually much better than the main food. The place and ambience is cool but the service was sloow. We had to wait for some long for the waiter to come to us and give us water... it wasn't that busy. The menu is pretty basic so I had a hard time trying to decide what to get because nothing else in it sounded appealing.

Tracee T.

Yelp
Sometimes you just want great bar food at a dive bar style joint. We found it! First time visiting Skinner's. It's super easy to get to. We all shared the tatchos, pizza fries, JoJo's, Taco Pizza and "Top of the Line" pizza. They don't skimp on the toppings or cheese on any of their items we ordered. The portions were generous. The place was packed! Service was slow but it was a Friday evening. We arrived at 5:30 and left at 7:30. Almost every table was full and take out orders were going out continuously while we were there. Thankfully we weren't in a hurry. The place has a small parking lot along with street parking. It looks like a dive bar on the outside but don't let that stop you if you're looking for some great bar eats.

LuAn M.

Yelp
Nothing fancy, on a corner. Good food. Plentiful . Love Tuesdays with all you eat spaghetti and meatballs. Great chicken. Good service and prices.

Molly M.

Yelp
Best date with my MN Gopher football lover! We were far from home (and the game) so I pulled up my handy-dandy Yelp app & found this gem! The bar area was already packed with Gopher fans, but we found good seating in the dining area (close to the extremely large TVs). Mr. Gopher decides to have a tap beer-and found the Schells Firebrick (16oz=$5.25) a great beer to cheer the team on with! We had to try the Top O Line Pizza (14" for $21.95) with sauerkraut-it was superb! Friendly, neighborhood vibe and wonderful service! We skipped the Saturday taco special, now finding out how great the tacos there are now! Well, I guess we have to go back with our friends!

Glenn M.

Yelp
Stopped in here to see if the Gopher football game was on. It was on all televisions with many fans present. This is a nice neighborhood bar with good food and good taps. We enjoyed the Top of the Line Pizza with sauerkraut. It was very tasty. I also enjoyed a couple of Schells Firebrick while watching the Gophers win. A very enjoyable afternoon for our first (but hopefully not the last) time here.

Yelp
First visit to Skinners Pub after friends who grew up in the neighborhood kept talking about the place. It was terrific on many levels. I had heard about their Chili and walleye sandwich. I ordered some chili to go, but when the waitress heard that I never had it before, she was kind enough to give me a sample. It was indeed yummy. My main course was the walleye sandwich. It was lightly breaded and fried; so much better than those restaurants serving heavily battered fish. It is a local dive bar in the best sense of the word. Our waitress truly anticipated our needs, I'd swear she had eyes in the back of her head! We saw teamwork from the staff who seemed to get along really well. They sure made me welcome and wanting to return.

Stephen S.

Yelp
Always fun and reasonably priced food and pizza. The drinks are very reasonable and the staff great. Nice neighborhood restaurant for families and regulars. They also have catering services.

Charles T.

Yelp
My local fav. Their 'zza is awesome. Especially like the Ruben. Bingo night's a fun activity.

William B.

Yelp
As a neighborhood dive, it's ok. They have a patio; smokers congregate there, so I've never stayed. The food is ok-- it's a dive, remember. The service has been sometimes good, sometimes not. It's a dive.

P S.

Yelp
Fun bar in St Paul with great pizza. It gets pretty crowded at times, especially tacos on Saturdays and bingo on Thursdays, but worth it! Casual atmosphere that is perfect to enjoy with friends

Paul K.

Yelp
Love love love skinners!! Pizza and Jo Jo's are amazing. In fact, The Reuben and chicken sandwiches are too!

Tracy P.

Yelp
My favorite "dive" bar! Awesome food, cheap great drinks what could be better?! The packed house every single time we go is proof they are doing something right.

Nancy W.

Yelp
This was my first time here, and we will return. It appears to be a popular local establishment, as they were quite busy despite our early dinner dining. They seemed to be a bit understaffed, so the service was a little slow. Despite that, we had a positive experience. The food was better than expected, which just proves you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Our table had a pepperoni pizza and the steak special & they tasted scratch made. Two thumbs up!

Emily C.

Yelp
Heavy dive bar atmosphere but the food is absolutely phenomenal. Best chicken wings in Minnesota, and amazing pizzas. The servers are so wonderful and very cool. It's my favorite club sandwich as well. I LOVE skinners!

Cara F.

Yelp
Came for the pizza and got reeled in by the wings!!! Had the taco and cheeseburger pizza. The buffalo and spice and honey wings! Home run!!! Hidden gem! No pics of the wings - devoured

Suzie R.

Yelp
Great dia! Great gambling! We haven't eaten here but we heard the food is amazing too!

Karen M.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped at Skinners to eat. We sat down at the bar to have a drink first. I think the bartender's name was John and he was very friendly and super funny with his dry sense of humor. We were having so much fun talking with the bartender that we didn't bother moving to a table and ate at the bar. Great food! Awesome bartender! Wonderful time! We will be back.

Augustus A.

Yelp
Monday special - Large 1 topping pizza with 8 piece fried chicken for $20, can't be beat. Food is always

Ralph M.

Yelp
This unassuming little spot in St Paul has made the list every year for best dive bars--and for good reason. I live in the neighborhood and the wife and I eat here at least every other week. This is definitely a place where when you know, you know. Walking in, you've never seen a more neighborhood townee, divey joint in your life, but settle in and order up some inexpensive, delicious food cause your mind is about to be blown. Service is always friendly and they're following safe, pandemic guidelines as well. Best menu items: Totchos--Crispy tater tots smothered in all your favorite nacho toppings. They fill a pizza pan with them and they can feed a small army. Wings--They're lightly breaded and doused in your favorite sauce. The Bourbon Teriyaki wings are my #1 in all of the Twin Cities. Pizza--Skinner's square cut, 'Sota style pizza is a neighborhood staple. They just do it right. The neighborhood gets it takeout or delivered and many come from outside the area to get it. Reuben--it's massive, quality, and the most inexpensive in town (until I'm proven wrong) Visit their website to see their monthly BOMB (Beer of the Month) for $4 and their ABOMB (Alcoholic Bev of the Month) for $4.50. Like their website says, "You'll never leave hungry!"

Sue F.

Yelp
I've loved Skinners for many years. However the last 2 times we ordered the food has been a little off. The pizza we got, the sauce tasted off and the subs we ordered hot were luke warm at best and pretty dry. Not sure what's going on at skinners but food doesn't seem on par as to past orders.

Misty T.

Yelp
Was in town just for a couple of days. We wanted to get pizza decided to try skinners and ordered delivery. Food was great no one in our group had any complaints! Some decided to try their chicken dinner instead and they were happy with everything as well. Great choices, great food, and delivery guy was very nice.

J P.

Yelp
Great pizza and wings. Goof spot to grab a cheap drink and cheap eats. Check it out.

Cindy Y.

Yelp
Everything about my experience at Skinners pub was amazing. The food is great. Service is friendly and prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend

Lloyd W.

Yelp
I was hopeful this neighborhood "pub" might work as an occasional alternative to the Bay St. Burger Dive located a couple of blocks away. No way. Not even close. The sole advantage this place is a small, private parking lot out back...a distinct advantage. Unfortunately, overall cleanliness (the restroom was a disaster), service (not a single check back throughout the meal), prep time ( 30+ minutes from order to serve of a simple, pre-breaded fried chicken sandwich) and the quality of the menu/food served was below the Burger Dive. Make that wayyy below. I don't want to kick this dead horse so am giving this one a disappointing but generous "2 star." My advice? Pass by and have a far better experience a few hundred yards away.

Betsy S.

Yelp
Great food at reasonable prices! Check out the daily specials and the monthly drink specials! Awesome pizza and chicken

Ed G.

Yelp
On a whim (thanks Keith), we tried Skinners last night. Wow, what a great dive bar/pizza joint! Their thin crust pizza rocks! Maybe the best since Red passed. RIP. The best part of the evening was the bill. $60 for 3 people to eat 2 10in pizzas, a BLT, and an app. Beer and wine were in play. Anytime you leave a restaurant feeling you have to over tip, ..... well that's a good night.

Bryan S.

Yelp
Food is cheap but great. Try the soup of the day. Service can take a long time but lots of standouts on this menu. The Marshall. Buffalo Chicken salad. The pizza. The nachos

Joe B.

Yelp
This is the food the West End and surrounding neighborhoods subsist on. This is the real deal. They have a great, professional staff. A true asset to the city of Saint Paul and the West End.

Mike S.

Yelp
This place has amazing food at unbeatable prices. We keep going back. The half chicken dinner is the best value in town! The kids love the kids meals, the always have leftovers. We've only gotten take out, but we plan on dining in some night. Every time I go to pick up food, people seem to be having a really good time. The staff is always on the move, but always has time to make you feel important.

Keith P.

Yelp
I am just such a goddamn fan of this place. Since my beloved Savoy Pizza closed, I've searched for a pizza that could fill that void. I will never say that it's as good as Red's. That would be blasphemy. But this comes about as close as I've found. In the St Paul area at least. Just a dark, dank bar that's been around for thousands of years, give or take. Bartenders are always that beautiful mix of being your favorite hometown 'tender and a little dickish if you give them shit. You love it and you know it. The pizza is a Minnesota style, thin crust, heavy cheese and toppings, square cut. Always comes out "roof of the mouth scalding hot" and I just love it that way. Snappy sauce, not as snappy as Red's but pretty damn good. Totchos. That's Nachos made with tater tots for those of you who are a little slow. Huge. A full order comes out on a big ass pizza tray heaping with love. Awesome for sharing, or just perfect for one real fat bastard. Waitresses are so goddamn friendly. Almost suspiciously friendly. Like you're waiting for them to go "zero to bitch" but it's never happened. Always on the spot. If the pizza takes a few minutes too long cause it's busy, they keep you updated and apologize like it's their own fault. No worries. It's pizza, you'll never disappoint me as long as my night ends with that sweet sweet pizza pie. Lastly, it's cheap as hell. Utterly refreshing to not drop a hundo on a night out for pizza with the fam. Beers are cheap. Food is cheap. Drink specials are cheap. They don't try to screw you by charging stupidly for little extras. Great food at a more than fair price. I even went here to celebrate my birthday. Believe me, I'm a real bitch about my birthday so when I decide to take everybody to Skinners for the party, you can bet your sweet tits that it's good goddamn food. Take a step back in time. Grab some friends. Head down to Skinners. You can send me a thank you note later.

Priya Z.

Yelp
Lyssa and I went here Saturday for Dinner. We arrived about 4:30, and it wasn't too crowded or busy. Our waitress seemed nice enough, but seemed a bit busy with whatever she was working on. She took our drink order and asked if we wanted an appetizer. We ordered the Nachos without Meat and we asked for a minute to look over the menu while we decided on the main dish. She promptly brought out our waters and in passing 2 different times told us to please hold, she will be right with us to get our entrée order. Like I said earlier, it wasn't busy, so I don't know why she seemed flustered. We were patient and ordered when she arrived. For our entrées we ordered the French Dip Sandwich and the Fish Sandwich. Once the Nachos were brought out, soon after the entrées had arrived. The nachos were huge, and Lyssa mentioned that we didn't think that through. IT WAS A LOT OF FOOD! I didn't even touch my Fish Sandwich. Lyssa ate a bit of her French Dip. The waitress stopped by with our tab and asked if we needed boxes. I replied with a yes, please. Lyssa once again stated we didn't think this through, the waitress replied with "If I knew you were going to order entrees I would have suggested the 1/2 order of Nachos." Ummmm....... excuse me? You did know, and it doesn't show on the menu there is an option for a half order. So that was definitely disappointing. I ended up eating my sandwich way later in the evening, and it was "meh". The bread was so much and definitely over powered the fish itself. It also looked like they were two kiddy fish sticks with pre-packaged Kraft single cheese slices melted on top. I would not get it again, I would get the nachos again, not that they were bomb.com or anything, but I did enjoy them. Overall, I still think this is a great place to visit, definitely a local place and not touristy. I'd come here again, but even though they have options for a practicing Pescatarian, they aren't the best options. So I'd steer clear of here if you are a Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, etc.

Katheleen D.

Yelp
Best steak sandwich ever. Perfectly cooked. Flavorful. Great price. Antipasto salad is excellent and large. Homemade soups are right on. Steak night (Wednesday) is a great buy. I can't think of anything we don't like. We try to come every time we are in town. Don't miss it.

Michael S.

Yelp
Please note that my rating is category-based: this is about as good as it gets for a dive bar! My spousal-unit and I love to find places that are local, unpretentious, with good service and good food - and Skinner's nails it on all accounts! We were drawn in by the allure of other reviewer's accounts of the Reuben sandwich, and - having a life-long love affair with Reubens - we had to try it. We decided (in a failed effort at saving calories) to split that and also get the "Tachos" (tater-tot nachos). This was the best decision we have made in quite some time. The Reuben was excellent: great quantity of corned beef, crisp, and served properly on rye. My wife appreciated that the Russian dressing (even though they are trying to steal our elections, they still make damn good dressing) was served on the side, thus preventing dreaded soggy-Reuben syndrome. The fries served along with the sandwich were also good - not fantastic, but good. The Tachos were AMAZING! I can't believe I've never seen/heard of these before. Smothered with cheese, jalapeños, tomatoes and onions, and served with sides of delicious sour cream-something sauce and ketchup/Sriracha sauce, they were a tantalizing heart-attack waiting to happen. Our server said, "Full or half-order?" We said, "Oh, we didn't see there was a half-order. We'll just do half." We were so glad she said that: we barely made it through 1/3 of the HALF order! I cannot imagine how much would be in a full order... Service was great - friendly and prompt! We played bingo while we ate, enjoyed hanging with the locals - including three St. Paul cops - and had a beer from the (for a dive bar) pretty-decent selection. Our total bill, including tax, was about $20. Unbelievable. We'll be back for sure - this is a St. Paul treasure!

Adam O.

Yelp
This place rules! Cheap bar food that is really good. I got the fried chicken, which was pressure fried and perfect. My partner got the Rueben, which was huge and tasted great. We got some cheese bread too, effectively a cheese pizza with white sauce, and that was really good too. Basically if you're craving some bar food, or pizza, or fried chicken (don't sleep on the fried chicken!!) come here. Or just come here anyway.

Madeleine D.

Yelp
Food: Food was amazing. Basic Club had crispy bread with flavorful ham. The bacon count was perfect. There was shredded lettuce instead of big lettuce leaves and that was a smart move. The cordon bleu burger had a lot of cheese and thick buns. French fries were more potatoey than crispy, which is not my cup of tea, but it totally depends on what you like. Service: Very good. For a divey bar the service is friendly and attentive. I don't think the specials were listed off but they had a little flier in the menu. Didn't try to up sell - which, as a server is frowned upon but being the customer it is refreshing. Restaurant: Weird vibes from the outside but fine on the inside. It was run down a bit but those are my favorite kinds of restaurants. The seats had seen many better days and the bathroom is very confusing with two doors to one stall. Side Notes Food is CHEAP and GOOD. If you're low maintenance and not looking for anything fancy - check this place out. House wine and most tap beers are only $4.50. I'm talking cheap food, my friends! Like $6-$7.50 for pretty much everything. Fries are an additional $1.25 First door before the front door slams loudly.

Small Town B.

Yelp
Great crowd for college football, meat raffle. And REAL home made potato skins. Definitely a shareable appetizer!!! We will be back for sure. Thanks for the hospitality.

Jen L.

Yelp
We got buffalo wings, bourbon teriyaki wings, and the totchos. Loved it all! Great flavors! Wing quality was also . The staff was really friendly and nice to be around when waiting for the take out order. Highly recommend this place
