Amazing! We have come in on a Wednesday and Friday and received the same server both times. She was amazing tending to our every needs even offering to top up my soup. I had a cup of minestrone which I can't stop raving about. It was incredible. A great way to start a meal on a cold evening. I followed up with the Chinese Chicken Salad and my husband indulged in a filet which he thoroughly enjoyed. Each time, the restrooms have been clean and fully stocked. Parking is private in the front or right side but not behind - reserved for staff. On Friday, we had a 20 minute wait but sat and chatted with other locals. This is a must try.

If you are in Des Moines, IA you need to stop in to Skips. The staff is awesome and the food was amazing! I had the walleye and it was well seasoned and cooked exactly as I'd expect. The place is beautiful inside. Reminded me of a dinner club with a relaxed atmosphere. Our group showed about around 530pm on a Wednesday and the place was full of locals. When you stop in, ask about the history, not many restaurants can say most of their staff has been there 20 years or longer.

Long time favorite establishment I highly recommend. Great service and atmosphere. The bruschetta appetizer is one of my favorites and anything de Burgo!

Always a wait ! If you like feeling like a sardine. This is the place for you! Not quaint , not private, not quiet. The food is beyond overpriced. Menu is all over the board rare bit to deburgo. Cheeseburger to chicken Marsala. I'll pass .

The service was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere of a converted old house is rustic and unique. The food was ok.. Muscles were overcooked and rubbery, pasta was under seasoned. Portion size was good, but quality control was lacking. It was extremely busy, but this is when qc counts most.

Skips was the best restaurant I've had within about 20 minutes of the airport so far. The only five star meal. The Creole pasta was fantastic. The chili was good. The garlic bread on point. Would absolutely come back.

BAM!!!  Had a great dinner Friday night at Skips.  Our youngest daughter was visiting and wanted to take her out for a really nice dinner but not some place stuffy. Skips was the ticket. I've seen a few posts on them that were all really good and the online reviews were really positive.  We were waiting for an opportunity to give them a try. We arrived at approx 6:20pm and had a 25 minute wait which wasn't bad for a Friday night.  Had a couple drinks at the bar while we waited.  They have a wonderful list of cocktails and beers. I was a little bummed as they were out of the nightly special "prime rib".  Next time we will just get there a little earlier. We had the Calamari Strips for an appetizer and they came out piping hot.  The dipping sauce was absolutely dynamite.  My wife is usually not a fan but she commented that they were really good.  Needless to say, they didn't last long.  Ohh so good.    I had the ribeye and baked potato.  Cooked perfectly medium rare.  My wife had the Tomato Basil Pasta with shrimp.  The shrimp were not shrimps, pun intended.  Large shrimp in this dish.  She really enjoyed it.  My daughter had the blackened salmon with bowtie pasta.  The Cajun cream sauce was just fantastic and made that dish.  it was lick the plate good!! She loved it. The service was great.  Very friendly and welcoming from the hostess, bartenders and our waitress.  Couldn't ask for a better dinner, service, and environment.  Just a very relaxing place to have a great meal and catchup with our daughter.  I would highly recommend giving them a try.  You won't be disappointed.  We will definitely be back to try some of the other items on their menu.

Had lunch with my Aunt on a Saturday. She had a salad and I enjoyed a chicken club. Both were great sizes and delicious. Our server deserves 10 stars, she was super!!
