3 Best Day Trips From Copenhagen

"Built in 1852, this bright white, palatial building serves as a luxury hotel, fitness center, and spa. Located in North Zealand (twenty minutes from Copenhagen by car) directly across from the ocean, it's also a wonderful seaside resort. Rooms are airy and cozy, the food is healthy. The spa is magnificent. A bright, sunlit space designed by Henning Larsen Architects, there is every kind of treatment and well-being activity on offer. Don't leave without trying the 'Sauna Gus,' a sauna experience which is led by a 'Gus Master' who uses aromatic oils to enhance the steamy process. The best way to cool down after? Take a dip in the nearby ocean." - Mary Holland

A beautiful hotel by the sea with an amazing spa, a private swimming platform out into the sea, lovely outdoor areas for relaxing in and really great staff who were unfailingly polite and helpful. The breakfast was really excellent and delicious. A short train ride from the city; a world away from stress.

Looking for an escape or a conference away from the city, then this boutique hotel is a perfect spot. Overall very good rooms with spacious bathrooms, and good amenities, with the rooms working well for a couple or single business person. The dining room for breakfast is very nice and serves up a good breakfast. The gym caters to everyone with machines galore and plenty of group classes. The spa area serves up everything water based with pools of every selection to choose from….and a great little boutique should you need some lifestyle clothing! An easy location to find just north of Copenhagen either via the train or car…

My husband & I had a delightful one-night stay at a charming hotel by the coast. The spa, breakfast, & the attentive staff made our experience truly lovely. They even surprised me with a small birthday treat in our room, along with a handwritten card. The hotel's blend of old and new interiors, coupled with its relaxing vibe, the polite & helpful staff made our stay memorable. It was our first night as a married couple so, this place will always be our special place.

GOOD|The spa is wonderful. Spacious with lots of interesting areas and outside space. Great treatments. A pool for lap swimming in the basement. |Staff, mostly young, are lovely and helpful |The Lobby area is excellent, squishy sofas and candlelight. Very hygge. |Breakfast is splendid. Lots of choice and replenished frequently. |Design features in hotel are fabulous. |NOT SO GOOD|The spa is very busy at the weekend. Large parties of young adults making all areas very congested. |My room - 134 - was the furthest away possible in the hotel. Next to a road, so noisy. |Compared to other rooms it seemed quite basic so query over room allocation protocol? |The Carl restaurant is an elegant space and efficient service. But limited choice over a few days.. Some dishes good but a lentil dish was dreadful. Some beluga lentils with a small hassleback potato, swimming in a watery pommes purée. Very overpriced.

The staff all deserve a huge thanks for their great service and dedication. They delivered fantastic service and ensured that our needs were met in the best possible way. ||A hotel, a restaurant -a SPA, can have its own special charm and beauty, but without dedicated staff it can easily become a soulless affair. I would say that the staff is the umami of any establishment and you have done something right in this regard.||The staffs professionalism and friendliness truly made the stay even more enjoyable. A big pat on the back to the entire team for their outstanding efforts.||Thank you, we hope to be back soon.

Spa was amazing with various options and also spotless. We've tried one of the best peppermint tea ever. Breakfast buffet was out of this world, so was the bed & the pillows. Everyone at the reception was so lovely as well. I felt it was a bit unorganised, as we got there earlier so we purchased a spa pass from 1pm instead of the one 6pm, that it was included. We were told we will be getting our bathrobes at 3 pm, when the check in will be completed, however the same bathrobes were in the spa area ( we were told they were reserved) and we had to walk thru the lobby, up to the reception wrapped in towels, only to realise we didn't have them in our rooms either. This was afterwards resolved l, but I feel it was such a mess for something that could've been done differently, given the fact that the booking was fully paid in advance, so we weren't going anywhere but the spa with these famous bathrobes

A nice spa hotel in a good location. Lots of different spa options and also a smaller gym, many activities possible, including a swim in Øresund. Good food as well. The rooms are somewhat dated but we weren’t there to hang around in the room anyway. Decent amenities such as slippers and robes. Ambience: 5/5 Rooms: 3/5 Food: 5/5 Spa: 5/5 Gym: 3/5

Yelp
Great experience! Extra fee to get a room with the view is totally worth it. There were 2 paddle boats available at the beach that we have used. I really liked the sweet roasted cashews served at the breakfast. We stayed at 234 and we thought the room was pretty small with a baby crib. We had to remove the crib first thing in the morning.

Yelp
My friends and I stayed here for two days and it was quite enjoyable. As someone who has spent many nights in hotels around the world, I truly enjoyed my stay here. I found the unique room key bracelet was a nice touch, as well as the access to the gym and spa. A very clean, cozy hotel. Our first evening we made a reservation at the restaurant within the hotel, on the top floor. Although the menu was rather limited, the food was divine and far better than some of the hyped up restaurants within the city of Copenhagen. The food was absolutely delicious, we all practically cleaned our plates clean, as well as dessert. Overall, although quite a pricey stay, it was well worth it; a wonderful time here.

Yelp
We enjoyed our brief visit to Skodsborg. The evening meal (in part a barbecue) was very good and we really appreciated the thoughtful, courteous and attentive service. We were also impressed by the reception staff. And there was a wonderful view of the sea from our room. Having said that, Skodsborg is not on a par with some of the spa hotels / health resorts in the UK (such as Ragdale Hall or Champneys): * although the food was good the place did not offer a health menu as such, (the breakfast - which is very highly rated in some reports on a rival website to Yelp - was fine but not exceptional. It was little different to that offered in the better city centre hotels. And they stop serving at 10.00 at weekends. I tentatively asked about the possibility of a boiled egg at 10.02 and was abruptly told "we're closing now") * we (and other guests) were not advised in advance that the large spa pool was closed for renovation and that many of the better spa facilities were reserved for other guests on a different (and more expensive) package * Skodsborg advertises itself as smoke-free but that seems to mean that smoking is OK so long as people lean out of a window or go a few millimetres onto a balcony. Unthinkable these days for a health facility in most developed countries. * the hotel rooms are rather small and basic. Ibis style. That's OK is you are booking a room at an Ibis .. So - not at all bad (and some excellent features) - but could do a heck of a lot better
