Cozy rooms and log cabins without electricity or running water in a mountain retreat, plus dining. Dating from 1931, this log-walled mountain lodge in the Banff National Park is accessed by 11 km of hiking or ski trails from Lake Louise, and is a 5-minute walk from the ski lifts at Lake Louise Ski Resort. There is no electricity or running water in the main log-walled lodge. The cozy rooms are lit by candles and oil lanterns. There are also 3 separate log cabins heated by propane stoves. Parking (at a separate location) is free, and buffet breakfast and dinner, served in a communal living room decorated with ski memorabilia, are included. There's also a bar.

"Skoki Lodge is a backcountry wonder around Lake Louise, reachable by a seven-mile trek over Deception Pass or by horseback with Timberline Tours Ltd. It features the axe-hewn spruce lodge from the 1930s, operates without electricity or running water, and is known for its off-the-grid kitchen with cooks like Vanessa Stirrett preparing seasonal and restoring dishes, impressive afternoon tea, and much-anticipated feasts for dinner." - ByLindsay Anderson

I went with my husband for a two night stay at Skoki staying in Fossil room. The journey there was very special despite being challenging at times but wow the scenery was unbelievable, it took us around 5 hours at a slower pace due to an injury. ||When we arrived at Skoki lodge we had the warmest of welcomes from the entire team on duty, with the reward of a wonderful charcuterie board which we enjoyed with a nice glass of wine. The room was beautiful with a fabulous Mountain View ( well we were rather surrounded by them) and although the bed was very high it was super comfy. It was a very special experience to meet and chat with other guests before dinner - which was incredible- all the food was absolutely delicious. The team were all so friendly, efficient and so helpful. Eden was absolutely lovely and Maggie great along with everyone else - all super attentive without being intrusive. Daniel was unbelievable and so very wonderful with a warm embracing personality and also incredibly talented playing a concert for us on our last night, enjoyed by all the guests.|I must also mention how brilliant Alex was and again what a talent as she had the entire table completely captivated with her incredible story telling - a poem of her trip back in to get ready for Skoki reopening…….. you could have heard a pin drop with the silence of everyone listening. I would love to hear it again!||So thank you all Team Skoki for the most amazing trip ever! It will stay in my heart and memories forever- you are a very special team of people ❤️

Spent a fantastic 2 night stay at Skoki Lodge. It took about 4 hours to hike in at a leisurely pace, stopping for photos and lunch. A fab warm welcome by Dan and team before mtg other guests and enjoying a cheese platter and soup around 4 pm. Dinner was amazing cooked by chef Victor, catering for all dietary needs. Hiked Skoki mountain the next morning and Merlin Lake in the afternoon. Hiked out via Packers Pass - great route description and directions from Eden. Amazing location and made to feel so welcome by the great team of staff.

This was our third winter stay at this place, which reflects our enthusiasm for this lodge. The food, the service, friendliness, and the rustic character of this place are the highlights. Also the camaraderie with the people who stay there and where new friendships are formed. The staff, composed of motivated young people, is absolutely fantastic. Okay, the restrooms are rustic (outdoors) but that's part of the backcountry experience. Makes you appreciate running water...If you can't tolerate the noise in the main lodge, you can rent a cabin. We were so tired anyway after the day that nothing could have kept us from sleeping. For us, we prefer the main lodge, where you can sit and enjoy the fire with a good glass of wine and a book, without the need to go outside at -25°C to get to your cabin...:-) The lack of internet and communications are two other factors that militate for a stay at this lodge. Of course, you will have to cover 11 km and two passes (Boulder Pass and Deception Pass) on skis (or snowshoes) from the Lake Louise ski station. You just have to pace yourself and be well prepared. Boulder Pass is very easy. Deception Pass is more difficult but offers great opportunities for alpine touring. Last week, the outing was somewhat demanding because of the gusts of wind and abundant snow. But it makes us appreciate the shower and the warmth when we return home.

Skoki Lodge is a beautiful place, one that must be visited if you are a fan of hiking, skiing, mountains, and a rustic environment. The lodge is nestled in a gorgeous valley with towering peaks around, pristine alpine lakes, and some seriously spectacular skiing. Shoutout to Chef Victor who prepared incredible meals the entire trip, and Mitch who was always ready to help and had a great attitude the entire time. Skoki is an experience that cannot be missed. A heads up: Fitness is required for the ski/hike/snowshoe in as it is around 11km with lots of elevation gain.

I can’t speak highly enough about Skoki. When you combine the 11 KM / 500 M journey (honestly, make sure in you’re in great shape / have the right gear), with the amazing rustic lodge, spectacular scenery, first class service and absolutely delicious food, it is one of the most special experiences I’ve had the chance to have. Being so remote, there is no power, no running water and after taking this in snowy late December, there’s no way I would want it different. Yes there are out houses, and it just added to the experience. If you’re the type of person who can’t deal with that, don’t go and certainly don’t lower your rating over that. If you’re the type of person who can appreciate the majesty of a rustic log cabin in the Canadian Rockies backcountry, with amazing people and wonderful food, you will have memories that will last a lifetime.

My husband and I booked Skoki for three nights. The staff were super helpful and overall just lovely people. Food was really good as well. The lodge is super rustic and simple but beautiful, the rooms were comfortable but there is 0 sound proofing. You can hear absolutely everything including other people snoring in their rooms. They did offer ear plugs for this reason. The one major issue we had was that the outhouses were absolutely disgusting. No one likes an outhouse but these looked like they had not been cleaned / emptied ever. The smell made you want to vomit. A number of people got really sick while we attended and I can only imagine the outhouses had a lot to do with it. I think over all for the money it’s a bit overpriced in terms of accommodation / cleanliness/ facilities. Cool experience but you could probably find a similar back country lodge with much nicer amenities.

This is our second visit to Skoki. To get to the start of the hike, you park your car and a Lake Louise bus drives up a 4 kilometre gravel road. If you miss the bus, you’re walking that! The hike to the lodge (and back) was terrific, very scenic and amazing wildflowers! There are some steep parts but you can take your time. There are several hikes that you can take during your stay. Built in 1931, the lodge is very rustic. There is no running water or electricity so the lodge and the cabins feel very dark. Our cabin had one battery operated lantern. Hot water is brought to you every morning so you can wash up, there are outhouses.|The food is very good, not gourmet, but nicely cooked. All meals are plated (or bagged) so there is not much option and the portions are large! If you have an allergy, the staff ensures that your meal is altered accordingly. The afternoon charcuterie board was very nice. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate is available all day. You can purchase wine, beer and cocktails. One long table accommodates all visitors so it’s a great way to meet new people. |Staff at Skoki are very friendly and happy to offer advice about hiking, swimming in the lake or taking a less demanding stroll.

I hesitate to even review Skoki because it feels like sharing a secret that you don’t want the masses to learn about. Skoki Lodge is one of the most unique lodge/hotel experiences I’ve had in my life. I first heard about Skoki from an article that ranked the best hike-in destination lodges. After a spectacularly scenic 7 mile hike in that is moderately challenging, you find this quaint old log lodge that can host a total of 25 people. Inside is a wonderfully rustic and charming setting. A large community dining experience and couches around an old stove. For breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, the team at Skoki, led by the amazing manager Alex and a team of fine dining chefs, feed you gourmet meals that seem out of context so deep in the woods. And yet the fresh ingredients and attention to detail create a magical woodsy dining experience. Our dining experience was even followed by the telling of a fun bear story written as a poem. The walls of the rooms may be cardboard thin, but everyone was quiet and respectful. And ear plugs are provided. The staff waits on you offering drinks, charcuterie, trail mix and cookies. They even catered (with advanced notice) to our group’s gluten free needs. And after breakfast each morning they bring you lunches to pack for your hiking adventures. Huge thank you to Alex, Sam, Dan, and the whole staff. We feel like our group of 6 made friends with everyone there and were pointed to day hikes that we will never forget.
