"While we prefer Pie For The People when it comes to pizza night at the vacation rental, Sky High is a great midday option if you leave the park in need of sustenance. The sourdough pizza shop is located right outside the national park's main entrance in Joshua Tree, making it an easy choice if you aren’t in the mood for a half-melted protein bar. Our favorite pizza is their Diavola with spicy sausage, calabrese, and fresno chiles, but there are more out there options too like lobster langostino with truffle cream, Greek meatball, and Korean barbecue pork belly. You’re in JT, why not get weird?" - brant cox

"It’s been a long day at the park and the last thing you want to do is stand in the kitchen for two hours to make dinner for everybody. Give the cutting board the night off and order takeout from Pie For The People. It’s easy to be skeptical of a NYC-style pizza place in the middle of the California desert, but after one pie your instincts will be proven wrong. The pizza is solid, and the menu is big enough to ensure everyone will be happy. The meat-heavy Hwy 62 Revisited is our favorite." - Brant Cox

STOP STOP STOP...MUST READ....THIS PIZZA PLACE ALMOST MADE ME CRY. YES, that's right for 27 years I have been searching for a really good pizza here in the USA. Many disappointments, and many pizzas tossed in the garbage. Finally, the search is over. If you want a real (90% close to being authentic Italian) good pizza then look no further this is the place. Real Italian tomatoes (certified), freshly made dough every day. Perfect dough consistency and shiny crust. Sheen is almost too much but hey it's a good sign that gluten has been happily stretched and olive oil added. Just perfect. Bubbles and black spots in the crust. And then that first bite. Perfect crisp and crunch in every bite. Nothing soggy in the middle and just perfect deliciousness all the way. They even offer Italian cuts to top pizza with. Unfortunately not salami. The staff is also super amazing, Mr. Styles... the gentleman who proudly told me about this place is one of the makers of these delicious, round, Godly treats. He told me how much pride and quality they put into these circles to the point where I thought he was full of it. But I have to admit. He was not. Then there was this pretty blond waitress who also was super friendly and never stopped smiling. Very attentive and professional. Unfortunately, I did not get her name..yet... All around the best atmosphere, staff, and pizza in the area. I am so glad I found this amazing gem in the desert. Thank you, staff and owners. You found a friend and customer for life. Wait a minute.... I just could not give up on finding something bad about this place. I mean, there has to be something. Yes, you guessed it right.... bathroom time it is.... in a bathroom you can truly reveal a restaurants true attitude for perfecting. Really, really.... this place was pretty packed and the bathroom had to to be cleaner than my own. No way. Yes way.... besides the soap bottle dripping and paper towel dispenser being empty (don't stress, they had paper towels on top of it) ii could not find anything. Not even a drop of pie on the floor. Unbelievable. This place.... absolutely amazing Next time pasta and desserts. Stay tuned... PS: if anyone tries to talk you into eating their Cannoli, don't fight it.... eat up. Super delicious.

Google
Fantastic pizzeria and Italian eatery here in the heart of Joshua Tree California!! The food was wonderful especially after a long day hiking in the National Park. We are grateful that they offer a gluten-free pizza, and it was excellent. The soup of the day( Minestroni) was awesome as well as was the Caesar salad with chicken. We appreciate they have a few local beers on tap as well as wine and hard seltzer. The staff were really friendly and we love the easy style: walk up to place your order and sit down to receive your food.

If you are in the Joshua Tree area, a stop to Sky High Pie restaurant is a must! Our group of six had the most fabulous lunch dining on a variety of sourdough pizzas. We also ordered the homemade bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The wood fired pizza was the best our party has ever eaten! Two thumbs up for this reasonably priced Italian restaurant!

Came in on a SUPER busy afternoon, Tuesday before Thanksgiving, wait was an hour. It’s actually a good problem to have being a newer establishment. We were patient and hungry. I ordered the pesto veggie pizza and a cold beer. Sat at the high top and watched 4 guys go to work on all the orders. Everything made fresh and delicious. Our beer was cold and crisp. By the time we got our delicious pizza’s we didn’t mind the wait. It was well worth the wait and price ($20) the staff had good energy even under all the pressure of seeing a long line right in front of them. There’s plenty of seating out back if waiting inside or up front is an issue. Would definitely recommend and return on our visits to Joshua tree from LA. Best of luck to this place and hopefully they grow to a bigger or second location.

I love pizza. If you told me I had one type of food to eat for the rest of my life, without worrying about health concerns, it would be pepperoni pizza. Pizza is something that is very hard to do really well and fairly easy to be mediocre. Sky High Pie was excellent. The service was incredibly friendly. The atmosphere was quaint and fun. Best of all, the pizza was incredible. Typically, I find brick oven pizza to be burnt on the bottom and not typically my favorite style. However, this place could change my mind. I ordered the double pepperoni with hot honey drizzle and was rewarded with a flavor party in my mouth. The kind of goodness that you don't rush through but rather save her each bite for the sweet and spicy. I wish that they were closer than the distance between Portland and Joshua tree California. If you were in the area, definitely check them out.

Google
Probably the best pizza I have had in awhile. The crust was amazing, we got the spicy pepperoni and the Sky high. Both were great. Only negative is very limited space to sit inside.

Google
Pizza was good. It was thin crust with a taste of cheese. I ordered the five cheese pizza there kind of sad for the price. Like $22 for this pizza it’s maybe a size small as six pieces in it. They could actually do better with their cheese and maybe well we’ll try again another pizza and see how it rates to this one taste good taste like cheese on a cracker.

Google
Pizza was good in every way, flavor, crust ect.. and then they had the most amazing desserts!! Worth the wait.

Yelp
The best food in J Tree. I had to go there twice on my trip. The pizza isn't super oily and the crust is great. The KBBQ had such a unique flavor and was definitely a great pair with a savory pizza like the Diavlo.

Alyson D.

Yelp
What a treasure of a place! We stumbled in after a drive and hike in Joshua Tree and were so delighted! Teeny tiny kitchen with eight people working in a gastronomic operational ballet. The pizza was so satisfying: a Neapolitan style scantly cheesed masterpiece atop a perfect crust. We had a truffle mushroom and prosciutto that was perfection. Loved watching the team do their thing while at the marble- topped "high" counter. As a cook, I was particularly impressed with how they twisted the pepperoni slices so that they crisp up in the oven; what a great idea!

Yelp
Surprisingly good pizza. I wasn't expecting much going in, but came away as a big fan of this place. The service from the cashier and the girl who brought out the food was amazing. Both were very friendly. Pizzas are similar to a personal size, about the size of a large plate. The crust was thin, yet firm and crispy. I loved the creamy Alfredo sauce and the smokey, nutty, salty notes from the various cheeses. The pizza was large enough for two of us to share. Sky High Pie is definitely a great spot to eat at when visiting the Joshua Tree area.

Yelp
From what we were told, this is a local favorite. Wait time was actually not terrible (they say 15-20 min and it'll take 10-15 min). The ladies working the counter are extremely pleasant. Out of the 2 we tried, the Korean bbq pork belly was definitely a favorite. It can get crowded inside so we always had it to go.

Yelp
Stopped in tonight to grab dinner. It was a place we saw earlier in the day. They only have one size. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and found a table to sit after ordering. The ambiance is really nice with nice music playing. The place is clean and the team seems to work well together. I enjoyed the food with it's crispy crust. I think the amount of sauce was perfect. So if your looking for a yummy meal trybthis place I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Sky High Pie is, hands down, the best tasting pizza I have ever had. Every single ingredient is fresh and has so much perfection put into it. This pizza has been mastered. People that don't usually eat crust find themselves eating every single bite of their pizza. The signature pies are genius and delicious and like no other I have ever had. They make fresh tiramisu daily as well as fresh hand made scones, bear claws, cannolis and chocolate chip cookies. All delicious and made with love. I recommend eating and visiting this restaurant and experience the remarkable food! You'll be back for more!

Ann H.

Yelp
Had the spicy diavolo pizza, beef skewers and tiramisu. Everything was great. Staff were very attentive and just nice! Cute little patio in the back. Also looked like they sold soft serve ice cream - gotta try that next time!

Gerard S.

Yelp
Awesome Pizza and Beer. Loved this place when we went and the service was great super friendly and a casual eatery that aims to please their customers. Will be back if ever in the area!

Bin H.

Yelp
We happened to be in Joshua Tree for the weekend, and this was a great dinner option for us. We ordered the Truffle Cream & Prosciutto and Diavola pizzas to go, and both were fresh and delicious. The toppings were not only fresh, but I really like the airy/fluffy yet doughy and chewy the crust was. It offers a very casual atmosphere where you order at the front and the staff bring out your order.

April V.

Yelp
This place is okay. We wanted to support some local spots while we stayed in Joshua Tree and found this place. The woman who took our order was not very nice, but whatever, it is what it is. The other employees seemed fine, so maybe she was just having a bad day. Our order consisted of four pizzas and an order of tiramisu. The pizza was okay. The flavor was good, but the crust ends were so hard. The tiramisu was NOT good. It tasted so much like cinnamon it was off-putting. None of us liked it at all. They also had the music turned up so loud we had to yell at each other, even the people working and answering the phones were having a hard time because the music was so loud.

Sebastian W.

Yelp
Really really good pizza. This is coming from somebody from NYC. Really good balanced flavors and excellent crust with no FLOP!

kate b.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place, after I'd heard great reviews from friends and felt like a no-brainer to feed 10 hungry people. Called to make sure they were open, and ask about placing an order. Was greeted by a very snippy woman. I asked "Hi, are you open and if so, do you take out?" (This is a very normal question to receive if you operate a restaurant, especially if you're a restaurant who does not have a website where you could simply put all of this info so that people don't have to call and disturb your incredibly surly staff). She replied, in a very snotty voice, "We don't take orders over the phone." That's it. So I followed up, "Ok, but do you do takeout? How do we place an order?" She replied in the most condescending voice, "You have to come into the restaurant" and hung up. Can't believe I'm such an idiot and didn't know that! Again, you could host this information on a website and save your baby Karens from having to answer these questions! Overpriced, pizza just alright, not worth the hassle, won't visit again.

Yelp
We came to Sky High Pie after a day of hiking at Joshua Tree. We were actually looking for JT Country Kitchen but it was closed and we saw Sky High Pie a few doors down. Excellent choice! When we arrived, there was a 30 minute wait. This is a very popular restaurant and the inside of the restaurant isn't very big.. There is seating outside also but if you want to eat inside, you will have to wait. What did we order? I got the Veggie Park Pizza and my friend got the Korean BBQ Pork Belly Pizza. Both were very good. I also got a garden salad. The pizzas were $22 each but they were worth it. They use fresh ingredients and the pizzas are made to order. I hope they are able to get a bigger place because there is a huge demand for their pizza. Next time I am in the Joshua Tree Park area, this will be my go to. You can also order takeout.

Faz A.

Yelp
Sky High Pizza is a slice above the rest! My son and I savored every single bite--it's clear they're true artisans in the craft of pizza-making. Perfect crust, amazing flavors, and a memorable experience. Can't wait to come back for more!

S. O.

Yelp
Joshua Tree, CA. Luckily we were able to snag a table by the windows after spending all day at Joshua Tree National Park. This capped the end of a great day of hiking and great pizza. Unique special pizzas as well as classics. So good that I wanted to come back if we were closer.

Diane S.

Yelp
The pizzas were absolutely delicious. I got the veggie park and my bf got the double pepperoni. 10 out of 10. The workers were very sweet and friendly, and it took about 10-15 minutes for the pizza to be ready after ordering. The only one thing is that I wish all workers handling the food would wear gloves. Probably about half wore them and the other half made pizzas with their bare hands. Inside was pretty small but cozy. They had outdoor space as well. I would definitely come back again.

lucio g.

Yelp
Fresh, hot and yummy pizza. It always hits the spot when we visit. Their salads are equally as good.

Lourdes M.

Yelp
We're in Joshua Tree for my nieces bachelorette and came in to get some pizzas for all the girls and the staff was so amazing! They had a bunch of choices and were super patient with us while we decided what we wanted. We were so excited when we realized they drew/wrote on all the pizza boxes & gave us some tiramisu on the house. SO SWEET, they made our day! And the pizza tasted great!!!

Ashley C.

Yelp
Food 11 out of 10! Service was great. Smaller inside seating, but definitely worth it. Tried the double pepperoni & the lobster gnocchi! Try em!

Silva S.

Yelp
I would check the sourdough bread before leaving the restaurant. We just purchased the sourdough bread 10 minutes on 11/30/24.

Jen G.

Yelp
if you have a gluten allergy, don't bank on them having a crust for you, even though it's advertised. We went on a weekend and a weekday within the same week not long after opening hours, both times they were out of gluten free crust.

Anibal T.

Yelp
Over great experience! I highly recommend this spot. All the ingredients were fresh and the pizza had a nice crisp bite to the very end.

Vivian T.

Yelp
After a couple of hours in the cold desert park, we were definitely in need of some warm food. We called Sky High to see if we could place a pick up order, however, we could not, but the staff ensured that if we ordered there the pizza will be ready in 10-15 minutes. My boyfriend went to pick up the pizzas so my review is based on just the food alone. We ordered the Diavola, the Truffle Cream Prosciutto, and a Caesar Salad. Needed some sort of leafy greens so the salad was much needed and actually pretty delicious. I thought the pizza sizes were quite small for the price as I feel like the dough was extremely thin. Nothing was leftover, that was for sure! My favorite of the two pizzas was the Diavola as it had a lot of variety of meats and had a kick of spice to it. Although they use high quality ingredients, definitely expect to order more if you are here and are quite hungry.

Xixi H.

Yelp
This pizza place is conveniently located near Joshua Tree National Park. We ordered pizza for pickup online but once venturing out into the hot air we decided we were craving ice cream. The selection was minimal - only two options for soft serve that are $7 each. It was tasty but imo a bit pricey. I had a similar opinion on the pizza - tasty but at $22 I expected something more although I also tend to prefer a saucier pizza so maybe it's just my personal preference. My companion really enjoyed her pesto pizza. We also ordered the caprese with bread (forgot to take a pic of it though) and there was only one small piece of bread to share which was a bit odd. Also all the seasoning was concentrated on one tomato making it overly salty while the rest were a bit bland. In general the food was alright but a bit pricey for me to not have felt wow'ed.

Grace J.

Yelp
Sky High Pie is becoming my go to restaurant whenever I'm in the Joshua Tree area. I love adding my choice of toppings to the Marinara pizza (San Marzano tomato sauce, oregano, and roasted garlic). Their tomato sauce is very flavorful and their crust is thin and crispy. I love how quick and convenient it is to order take out from Sky High Pie. Enjoying a hot, fresh oven baked pizza, especially during the cold winter nights in the desert is such a treat.

Tyler M.

Yelp
Great staff and service. I brought my girlfriend to Joshuah Tree for her birthday weekend and we stopped in here, greatest decision ever! Double pepperoni is amazing and so is the Lobster pizza! Sit at the pizza bar so you can watch the chefs make it fresh!

Kassandra H.

Yelp
This is definitely the most popular pizza place in town. It is high-end fancy pizza. The crust was handmade and the toppings were unique and fresh. When we stopped by to pick-up our order, the place was hopping busy. I would certainly try them again next time I'm in town.

Sabrina T.

Yelp
AMAZING QUICHE! Wait what? She didn't order pizza at a pizza place? Yeah it feels silly but listen, it was my last morning in town and I was about to hit the road after standing in a Starbucks style line at Joshua Tree Coffee Company so I was feeling brunchy since I barely rolled out of bed and checked out of the Airbnb. So when I staggered around the back and saw "quiche" written on the window, I heard church bells and followed my instincts. The poor woman working the register was over it and I don't blame her since it was St. Patty's weekend. But yeah as I was saying, the veggie quiche was damn good. I've never had quiche that good in my life. If you've been baking frozen Costco quiche... you're doing yourself a disservice. Apparently there's a meat quiche and I regret not trying it while I was there but trust me when I say the veggie quiche was amazing.

Carol M.

Yelp
$47.09 for 2 personal pizzas = minus 2 stars. Aloha and pepperoni pizzas were pretty good, but not worth the price; we've never spent this much and not had leftovers.....until today. Crusts were thin and that's the good New York style, but could have been cooked a bit more, no crunch at all. Can't complain about the taste, but won't be going back because of the price, just too much for what we actually got, hubby said it wasn't great for him (he was born in NY). Staff were all fantastic and service moved smooth and quickly.......thats always great! Truly wanted to love this place, but glad we tried it anyway. I think they cater to tourists who expect to pay high prices when they travel.

Anya T.

Yelp
Their pizza was yummy! I got a mushroom and olive and enjoyed every bite! I wasn't expecting the pizza to be as good as it was because their restaurant doesn't smell like pizza. I also noticed some people's crust looked burned. Mine however was cooked perfectly!

Nolan S.

Yelp
So yummy, cure for that hangover and makes me feel so ready to stargaze. The service was amazing and made us feel comfortable.

Lori N.

Yelp
My Mom has lived in 29 Palms for more than 12 years and I can honestly say this was the best meal I've had. Fresh ingredients, care for the food, really welcoming service. We had the pepperoni pizza and it was divine, the Caesar salad was also homemade dressing and very tasty. Another highlight were the scones perfect moist and crumbly. Cannot wait to come back. Only drawback is closed Friday/Saturday however I understand the desire to keep it artisanal.

Jesika P.

Yelp
Sky High Pie has the best customer service around!!!!! They definitely know how to keep their customers coming back! Their sourdough bread delicious Desserts hit the spot Pizza sooo good even the vegan meat!! Thanks again for making our trip delicious

Mandy L.

Yelp
Great food and was really impressed with the quick service! The restaurant was packed but our food still came out quickly and our order was correct. I wish they had a little more room as it is crowded, but they were very accommodating to our large group.

febbie i.

Yelp
My girlfriend LOVES this spot. Their hospitality is top notch and their pizza is BOMB.COM We got the double pep and it really hit the spot. They also have some good beers on tap and bottled! Their staff is nice and friendly. Got a good lil spot on the patio with some live music outside

Brian L.

Yelp
As many have noted, the service and friendliness is top notch here. They've got some good beers on tap and enough menu items to please most people. Pizza is good. Nothing incredible or special, tbh. Personal size, semi-neapolitan style. The crust is pretty thin and the cheese/toppings tend to slide off. But it 10/10 beats any of the chain spots. Would come back here when I am in town and craving a casual meal. Plus, the staff is much more welcoming than many other JT restaurants - even when it's really busy.

Stephi A.

Yelp
Way over priced!!! It basically a cracker with pizza toppings Girls are nice When you try to ask for something different. They won't accommodate. Like pizza crust is pre-made .dinning area is real nice.

caleb B.

Yelp
Hey pizza divas if you're wondering uh yeah it's so good I would have taken a photo but we ate it all you should get the Korean bbq one divas

Chelsea H.

Yelp
Since Pie for the People closed, I've been looking for a new pizza place in the area. I tried Sky High Pie, but probably won't be back. The pizza was fine. I didn't like how they only have one size - basically a large personal pizza- and it's wildly overpriced for the size. Pizza was nice and crisp like a good New York style pizza, but the crust to pizza ratio was way off. I would appreciate being able to get a 16" or 20" pizza here. Service was friendly. This place is credit card only, no cash accepted, but then they charge a 3% fee to pay with credit? There's no way to get around the fee, which feels slimy.

Adriana P.

Yelp
We were just around the area and craving some food and we decided to try this spot out! I will say it wasn't disappointing at all. I will say they consider them personal size but I think it's shareable for 2-3 ppl since it's a 12 inch. 12 inches tend to be considered a medium pizza. The inside was a bit small but still pretty clean. The lady in the register helped us decide on our pizzas. And even gen basic 5 cheese pizza was sooo good. We tried on of the seasonal pizza. Also you can tell they use a fire to cook the pizza. The crust was also nice. It wasn't too sweet it anything. Not super thick or thick either. Five cheese 5/5 it has white sauce and the cheese was nice. Lobster Langostino & Truffle Cream Pizza 1000/10 this pizza was sooooo good. A bit sweeter than anticipated but it was bomb!!! I would definitely recommend and they also sell alcohol that's a plus for those who like to drink!!

Steve R.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and atmosphere. Service was pleasant and fast for a wood fired pizza shop with craft beers!!

Jessica G.

Yelp
Customer service was fantastic from start to finish. The blonde girl at the register was so bubbly and her charisma was infectious. Even though they were busy, they still made sure you were alway taken care of. The servers who made the food were so nice and polite. They bought utensils and the food out and asked if we needed anything else. They were fast. We didn't wait long. And the place was clean. It was busy. But I can see why. They still were quick and efficient. The food was delicious. High quality. We had the truffle cream and prosciutto with added chicken. And the Margherita with Canadian bacon added on. My sister and I loved both of them. And got the caprese with fresh bread. Which was mozzarella cheese with tomatoes, basil, and balsamic vinegar. We filled up and had a whole pizza leftover and took it to go which we ate later after a few more drinks at pappy and Harriet's. We also took frozen soft serve to go. My sister had the original vanilla and I had the swirl with caramel sauce. My sister did order a cone but they charged us for the cup and gave us that. But they were delicious and high quality, so can't complain! One of the best soft serves I've ever had! Even the other customers were polite and friendly. This place such a great atmosphere! Will definitely make a trip to come back again and try different pizzas. Bonus: we met the most adorable little 10 month old lab named Copper.

Don T.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for lunch and discovered the thin crust pizza, salads and Brussel sprouts are excellent here. It's a simple and clean eatery with friendly and fast service. Stop by and enjoy!

Kerry M.

Yelp
I have eaten gluten-free all over the world and I can honestly say that Sky High Pie has the BEST gluten-free pizza I've ever had. The pizza dough, unlike most other gluten-free doughs, is something I would eat even if it wasn't smothered in cheese and sauce! It's crisp on the bottom but has a rise and a wonderful doughiness to it. The flavor is phenomenal. On top of that, the toppings and sauce are through the roof good! We went twice in 3 days and will keep going as long as we are here. The service was perfect and friendly. We even met the owner who told us a bit about his process. The ambiance is chill and on nicer days, there's a cute outdoor area.

Nickola B.

Yelp
The best pizza I have ever had!! My husband had double pepperoni with mushrooms and I had the Korean BBQ pizza. Both were amazing! We will definitely be visiting this pizza restaurant again!

Don T.

Yelp
We were looking for a good pizza place in town and we got it... and more! The pizza comes with so many topping options, but we choose our go to, pepperoni! Our delicious pie was thin crust and the sauce is zesty. We added a fresh Greek salad and Brussel sprouts and the sprouts were dressed with a balsamic drizzle and Parmesan cheese. The restaurant was simple and clean and the service was quick and friendly. Satisfied!

Yelp
GREAT staff!! From the second we walked in, they were friendly and helpful. Order at the front then sit and they bring you your food. We got cheese bread, meatballs, spicy salami pizza and plain cheese. Everything was delicious!. The spicy was very spicy!! Probably wouldn't get that again. Parking was easy, didn't see the bathrooms but the rest of the place was clean. Will definitely stop in next time we are in town.
