Yelp
This is a review for the July 4th party. We got tickets for the family-friendly party, which was held on the 14th floor of the hotel, just below the skydome. Tickets were $60 a week before the event, and rose up to $90 the day before the event. Five of us went, including my son (whose ticket was $40). This price did not include an additional 20% gratuity that was added on at checkout.
Pros
-Awesome views
-Several different rooms and a "play room" for kids
-Good variety of food, which I thought was tasty
Cons
Event was oversold and way too crowded. This meant that the hotel parking garage was completely full when we arrived, and all the street parking around the hotel was taken. We had to park in a parking garage about 10 minutes away.
The lines to check-in for the event and get food from the buffet were crazy long. They ran out of plates several times at the buffet (I would recommend that they use disposable plates in the future.) Guests were getting frustrated waiting in line.
Seating was limited- there were not enough tables and chairs for everyone to sit. (I would recommend removing the dance floor and setting up more tables and chairs. Barely anyone danced.)
Non-alcoholic drinks, aside from water, coffee, and tea, were not included in the ticket price. I understand having a cash bar, but they could have at least provided soft drinks or juice.
All in all, this event could be great, if they limited the number of tickets sold. I would have paid more per ticket, if it meant the event would be a lot less crowded. The tickets for the 21+ event in the skydome were $200, so I wonder if those guests had a different experience (even for that price, guests still had to deal with the limited parking and long check-in lines. Also, it wasn't an open bar for them.)
I would not attend this event again due to the overcrowding.
