This place is the boom!!!!! Our food was amazing! I got a New York bagel and the California omelet and both were very good. They also have a ton of desserts. I got strawberry ice cream (boring, I know) and my family also ordered the brownie sundae and the carrot cake, all of which we loved. They have a huge menu, and although their specials are not all day, they do serve breakfast all day. Our server was on it; with a total of six people at the table we all got our refills and food was super fast! The diner was extremely cool and it was very clean. They also have restrooms (for customers only) which are convenient compared to other restaurants. I would definitely come back and I highly recommend you come and eat here; I have absolutely no complaints and me and my family loved our dinner!

I love diners. I don't go to NYC to eat at chain fast food, so other than the many pizza slice places (most standing room only), I consider the diners in the city to be some of the best bargains around as it includes table service and a seat and generally reliable food at a moderate price. While definitely a little out of the way for the normal tourist (we took a 10 minute walk here before our Edge Hudson Yards visit), this is currently one of our favorite NYC diners. The outside and inside have the diner look and vibes you are imagining. The prices are very reasonable (for NYC), the service was quick and friendly, and most importantly the food was generous and delicious. Even some fun options like a TexMex breakfast. We didn't get to try them, but they had a number of amazing looking pastries and cakes and desserts too. For around $20 each, we had large filling breakfast served at our table in a clean and air conditioned room. Decent bathrooms located down some stairs. Overall, we really liked this place and recommend it.

It was one of the best diners I have gone to in a long time. Service was super quick, and the waiters were absolutely phenomenal asking if everything was all right without asking too much. Having the bills ready so quickly and being friendly and really making the guest feel like they are taking care of. The food was great as well as well as the general atmosphere.

My table had a very friendly young Latin waitress. She was very happy to take our order and serve our food. I never seen anyone so happy to wait tables.

A sensational lunch. Classic American diner with an extensive menu. Service is brilliant. Large filling portions. No complaints here!

The diner was a 6min walk from our hotel which was very convenient. Our server was super bubbly and polite. The food came out quickly and hot. We ordered the waffle with berries and bananas, rye toast and hot oatmeal. The food was fresh and tasted great. With all the walking we had planned for the day the breakfast was satisfying.

Dropped in for a quick dinner with the family! Service was friendly and inviting. Staff was always at hand and patient! Great job! Classic dinner look inside. Nothing fancy but definitely comfortable. Food was, well, it was a diner! So they had a collection of food. All of which was good portioned and tasted just fine! Made my day by bringing out a plate of Sour Dill pickles!!! Burgers were good, home fries great! Hot open turkey was good too. No complaints at all! The egg cream was a little lacking in taste but all in all this was a good eats place! I would definitely visit here again!!! Two thumbs up!!!

Been here two times. First time for breakfast. Amazing omelette and French toast. Service was fast and our waiter was very attentive during the Sunday morning rush. Second time for lunch. Chicken kebob platter was delicious. Service was good and waitress very accommodating. Will definitely go back

The service is fast. The food is diner-esque, as it is a diner! I had an American breakfast here and it was exactly as described. It came out fast and hot! I tried my partners corned beef and it was very good and nice and salty!

My vanilla milkshake was delicious. The fries were perfect. The patty melt was so tasty. The waitstaff was friendly. I didn't see any parking. It had classic diner decor and food choices.

We came here early Sunday and were seated immediately. The waitress was super friendly and nice!! My bf got the california omelette and I got the patty melt. The issue with the patty melt was that the cheese was not melted....it also came with american cheese I think I should have asked if there was swiss. The burger was rubbery and very dry. The fries tasted like butter for some reason. The omelette didn't really look like an omelette...it just had the egg, tomato, onion, mushroom, etc all mushed together and so some of the ingredients were overcooked while other ingredients were undercooked. The hashbrown fries had a weird light orange color..... Overall food is average (if you are really hungry you may not mind) but service is really good. For the price I feel like there are def better places. Our total was around 35 before tip for the 2 dishes.

Came for the city diner experience with the really cute interior. Food was good and coffee hit the spot.

I had a whole wheat waffle with Greek yogurt and berries. For $16, there should've been a lot more berries, but the waffle was very light and very tasty. Coffee was very good. Lori had the Mexican omelette, which was OK nothing to write home about. fairly standard diner food. Service was OK. A little on the slow side for a diner. We also asked for a hot sauce and never got it. If you pay cash, they take 4% off.

This diner was exactly what we needed, when we needed it. My friend and I were looking for a place to sit and chat near Penn Station since we had an hour to kill. We didn't want a full meal either. The diner fit the bill perfectly! First, the menu was huge, so whether you're looking for something light, a huge meal, or a drink, they'll have something for you. It was brightly lit and not too loud so you can come here to hang out. The waiter was nice and let us do our thing. Food came out quick, and you pay at the register, so you can come and go easily. I can't say too much about the food aside from the soups we got, but they too seemed to be exactly what you'd expect from a diner, nothing too crazy!

We had a group of 13 come here for breakfast, and we had a great experience. The servers are super friendly, and handled our large group really well. Tons of options on the menu, including a few decent vegan items. I had the beyond burger, which was nothing spectacular but tasted pretty good. Only negative comment would be that the bathroom was a little sketchy- not very clean and the soap dispenser wasn't working, so they had opened up the top and you had to dip your hand inside to get soap. The hand dryer also did not work well. I will say this made me a little concerned about the hygiene of the staff. Other than that, the food is pretty good, would recommend for a quick casual meal.

Food was great. I had the pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon. My son also had the pancakes and loves them. My husband had the egg white veggie omelette. He said it was great also. Prices were good also. Will come again.

Glorious, large diner, can accommodate larger groups. Delicious comfort food. Drinks: serve beer, wine, and everything in between. Food: we got the breakfast. The huevos rancheros were bomb.com strongly recommend pairing with the Franks hot sauce. The chocolate chip pancakes were fluffy and chewy melting in my mouth. We slabbed some butter on those bad boys, ooooh what a treat. A side of bacon is where it is at, prepared to perfection dont order a dish without it. The portions were glorious.

I usually order my low cholesterol omelette for delivery but I was lucky and got to eat in today. My omelette is good every single time and if you were wondering, delivery is always super quick. My family loved their breakfasts and as you can see, portions are great! Service wasn't speedy but it wasn't bad, everyone was really friendly. The restaurant is a no frills diner and it's perfect for low key family time. Enjoy!

Don't go with high expectations. It's a basic diner and that's it. It's not been upgraded in eons including the staff. We sat there for 10-12 mins before we were finally served water or asked what we would like. The waiter was to busy eating and chatting to see us seated at his booth. It's a tourist spot - period! Keep it simple and the food will arrive before you finish saying, "check please!". I kept it simple and it wasn't a mess up. Eggs with fries and toast. All piping hot which is perfect. My baby had a parfait with fresh fruits and honey. She also wanted a toasted plain bagel- done perfectly. The prices are a little high, but that's expected based on the location. I come here often to meet with my friends. It's always clean, the service is great, the food is good and there's plenty of tables. I'd recommend this place. They're open from 6:30 to 11pm.

The food was good with large portions. The service was good without hovering too much. It was clean and well maintained. This is family friendly.

This is my go to breakfast spot whenever I'm in the city. The food is consistently good breakfast food and the staff is friendly and the service is fast. I ordered a short stack of pancakes and corned beef hash with a side of hash browns. The pancakes makes were amazing. They were soft and fluffy and tasted great. The corned beef hash was grilled perfectly. The big letdown was the hash browns. They were tasteless and bland. Overall I had a good breakfast and the waitress was so sweet. She really loves her job. Skylight is definitely a breakfast spot staple.

Me and my mom stopped by the Skylight Diner today to get a small bite and kill time while we waited for our bus back to DC. We shared a really good BLT and some sodas. After looking at the desserts in the dessert case we decided to split a piece of lemon meringue pie which was the right amount of sweet and tart. Our server was friendly and attentive. Actually all the staff we encountered while we were there were friendly. They also had a clean women's bathroom. Sorry no picture, but if I had to describe our food the sandwich had crisp bacon with fresh lettuce and tomato on lightly toasted bread. And that pie had a mile high meringue with a light lemon filling which had a small layer a cake between the meringue (which I've never had) and the lemon filling that tasted like there was a hint of toasted coconut in it. Try it out. Skylight... I see you. I will stop by again.

I came to eat a quick bite here today and I was very disappointed with the food and the price. I basically spent $47 dollars for nothing besides crappy food and a stomach ache. I had the egg avocado and bacon sandwich, chicken sandwich, and oatmeal. The chicken was so thick and the mozerella they used was fake and slimy. I won't go back !

Hidden gem! There were five in our party - we got a perfect table with plenty of room. Service was very friendly. Ordered a waffle with sausage - the sausage was huuuge, flavorful and juicy - really good, an egg cheese sausage sandwich - also really good and huge, bagel and lox - really delish fresh bagel and quality lox aplenty, two omelettes. Omelettes were decent but the bagel & lox and sandwich were the stars. Coffee was decent too. Really recommend.

I had a delightful meal at this restaurant! The vegetable soup was simply delicious, and the eggplant parmigiana was outstanding. What truly stood out was the staff - they were fast, incredibly welcoming, and impressively efficient. The fact that the prices were so reasonable was a pleasant surprise. The diner's decor had a wonderful 60s vibe, which added a nostalgic touch to the overall experience. I'll definitely be returning for more great food and a welcoming atmosphere.

The food was so amazing. Everyone who worked there was so nice. The corned beef was so good. It had a nice crispy exterior just like I like it. The French toast was very tasty..not overly sweet. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to get a good plate of food in a laid back atmosphere.

If you find yourself on 34th Street/Penn Station in NYC and looking for excellent diner food then I'd highly recommend Skylight Diner. This place is a totally chilled and quiet spot to grab coffee, enjoy a meal and have nice chats if you are visiting with others. I'd met a friend here after work on a very cold November evening. We'd enjoyed hot tea and I'd ordered their breaded chicken cutlet on a role with french fries. I have a thing for having chicken cutlet sandwiches at diners. I'd totally enjoyed my meal. I'm weird like this but, I was surprised by how much chicken cutlet they served. I have to say their breaded chicken cutlet is yummy. My friend ordered their vegetable omelette and it looked and smelled delicious. I have to say this is my new diner spot in NYC. I'm definitely looking forward to visit again. And the staff was extremely friendly. They don't rush you; I supposed that is one thing I like about diners.

There are many things on the menu,I didn't know what to get but I saw they have Nutella on waffle,they pretty much have everything!the service was pretty fast,and there was not much people don't was kinda quiet and the food was AMAZING.

My favorite diner in Manhattan! The servers are welcoming and friendly and miss not a beat! 24 Hour breakfast is my favorite! Classic diner atmosphere! Never change!

Keepin it real out here on 9th Ave Midtown This is my third time eating at this diner, got to sit out the outdoor height of pandemic area as well as different spots indoor, my favorite's got to be right under the skylight. The inside is very charming, staff were sweet but quality of the food can improve just slightly. Still like the place though, will go back when I crave diner food.

This spot is nice considering the location and traffic. It's not the cleanest but it's nice to have a diner in the city. The coffee/cappuccino hit the spot. The omelette was burnt but the pancakes were a hit. I think they need some new dishes because the mug was so stained that it looked like the water was dirty. The servers were accommodating and pleasant.

I have ordered from Skylight diner a number of times in the past and it was ok- very average, edible diner food. Tonight I ordered a burger, medium, and it arrived raw in the center... my last order from Skylight for sure.

TOO MANY POT HEAD AROUND. Their waffle is really good but if your transportation to get here is walking, then youll have to secondhand smoke weeds before you get to the destination. This area has a lot of weed smoker around. Service is below average.

On a late night stop-in, I had a sub-par Reuben with what appeared to be canned or pre-packaged corned beef. My friend's meatloaf came as a breaded, deep-fried frisbee, swimming in, again, what looked and tasted like canned gravy with a side of, yes, canned corn. To be fair, her mashed potatoes were probably not instant. Staff turned out the lights on us while we were still eating this slop because "The sign says we're closed at 11:30." The ambiance is mid-century diner, with the requisite chrome and stainless steel decor. As for the 5-star(!) reviews below, anyone who gives five stars for food and service like this? Well, I'll leave the potential reasons to your judgment.

I do not recall when exactly began dining Sky Light Diner. Probably twenty fifteen . Every time I went had a pleasant experience. Service is pleasant & staff are professional. Only unpleasant experience I had was October eighteenth. Was shocking since every other experience wasn't unpleasant. I arrived twenty mins before six pm. Mentioning others were attending six pm. Two of them were behind time regarding slow transit. I explained situation to a waiter who couldn't accept . Remarked if others are still late I ll probably end up seating different people at this table you ll have to walk out. . Well I never would had expected to heard an unprofessional response. Customers heard & looked in shock I would as well. But ended up enjoying night with other people who attended. & I told situation to a different waiter who understood. & appreciated his understanding. Despite this minor experience I will still continue to dine out at Sky Light Diner

Classic diner food. The decor is very vintage and there is a lot of seating inside. It was a large portion size and came out very fast. However everything in general was a little bland and I wish they gave more guacamole. However, it was very filling and I left satisfied. I also can't forget to talk about how kind our waitress was!

Decent food, quick service (for both dine in and delivery), and great prices. I usually get the Caesar salad with shrimp or one of the omelette here. Hubby likes the onion rings. We come here fairly often when we need something quick and cheap!

Just great classic dishes! My waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside- the fruit was fresh and delicious. For dessert, the pumpkin cheesecake was absolutely wonderful! Definitely recommend it here!

This is a diner. Nothing special. It's close to NY Penn Station. We were seated right away, food came out quick. If you need a quick bite and are pressed for time, this place will fit the bill.

the beyond burger was advertised in the menu for $12.75, but the bill came and it was $20.25. i was up charged $3 for the beyond burger and then $6 for the fries. when I asked for the correction, they then charged me $19.25 total, which means they charged me even more than the original $6 for the fries. my waiter was nice, but this is just dishonest business practices at this point and I'm disappointed.

Service was excellent. I wished we went here for dinner the night before and have some better dinner than the one we had. Oh well, maybe next time we come to NY we'll stop by again. Thank you!

Trash. 1ST I remembered why I Dont eat here... The food is trash. I bit into my beyond burger and spit it back out. The Banana cake with ice cream is not good in flavor, taste, or freshness. To top it off, the delivery guy was the worst at communicating and talk down to me because the address was confusing to him. I stressed over connecting with him for about 15mins. I had to call the restaurant. Then tries to argue the point of the confusion of the address like ok.... What about the disrespect over the phone? Feels like you're in an episode of Seinfeld or friends. This place is a good place to grab dessert, late night coffee, or food after a night as MSG. Very chill and non pretentious place.

Our friend in town recommended this place, and we're glad she did. The service was fantastic. Lizeth brought our drinks right away, and gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu and talk to each other. She was cordial, efficient, and there when we needed her. Friend and I had the vegetarian chili. Husband had the slaw with warm corned beef sandwich. It did not take too long for our meals to come out. The chili was delicious! It had lots of cheese, carrots, beans and onions. It had so much cheese that neither of us could eat it all. We also ordered two corn muffins that were big and tasty. They were toasted which gave them a special crunch. We couldn't finish them, so we each took half home! Husband said the corned beef was good - but not great. The cole slaw on the side was also good. None of us had room for dessert. And the desserts looked so good. The prices were reasonable especially if you pay cash. If you use a credit card, there is a 4% surcharge. If you need the bathroom, two are downstairs. The ladies room had two stalls and no wait. Surprise!
