"Slabtown Public House is a more casual restaurant serving as an everyday hangout for neighborhood residents and home base for the chef’s charitable food foundation. The menu leans into everyday dining and pub favorites, offering dishes like nachos, a burger, weekly specials, and a 'greatest hits' section featuring dishes from Kevin Gillespie’s other restaurants. The restaurant also offers cocktails and beer, some on draft." - Beth McKibben

I'm sorry to say that my experience was not up to standards. My fries were cold and soggy which was a real bummer. It's my fault that I ordered a drink I didn't care for (absinthe) so I can't fault that. A friend got nachos and they came out cold with hard dried cheese. We waited a long time for food despite the dining area being relatively empty. This time it just didn't hit the right note for me. Cold Beer had amazing food but was too expensive for BeltLine casual and this went too far in the other direction. Better off at Ladybird.

Google
Fantastic cocktails and even better food. Kevin basically took nachos, burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, etc and said “how can we make these classic items taste better than any you’ve had before?” and succeeded. Pictured below are the best nachos I’ve ever had in Atlanta. Don’t sleep on the avocado margarita either.

Loved the nachos and the chicken fingers. They have nice cocktails and the ambiance of the place is really good

Was excited to check out this new Kevin Gillespie spot. Awesome location right in the beltline and a cool building with a patio. Started with cocktails which were awesome! The avocado margarita was amazing. The food was pretty good but a very very disappointing value in my opinion. Got a chicken sandwich and the “famous” nachos. Sandwich was delicious but came with a pre-packaged bag of potato chips and was almost 20 bucks. Woof. Nachos were a huge portion (and could easily feed two) but weren’t anything special to me and were quite pricey. The toppings were bbq and a bunch of tomatoes. I feel like this could be so much better. Granted, we went when the restaurant had just opened so I’m hoping this is just growing pains. But for the amount of money we paid, I think there are much better options in the area.

When I heard that Cold Beer was essentially getting a makeover; less expensive food and drinks and a more "accessible" menu (though the menu, itself, didn't bother me), I was excited to check it out as it is the closest restaurant/bar to my place. However, everything is still quite pricey and there are a few issues that I'm not so much into. First, the burger is a whopping $20 (Cold Beer's was LESS expensive) and doesn't even come with fries! No, you get a choice of a bag of kettle chips or a sizeable mixed greens salad. If you want fries, you have to pay for an $8 portion on top of that. The salad was very tasty with a mustardy citrus dressing, though. My $16 chicken sandwich was delicious and my husband's Cuban sandwich was pretty darn good, but I feel like everything is still fancier than promised. ALL of the wine is $12/glass and nothing looked particularly interesting. Nice beer list and you're able to get a $3 half beer glass, $6 for regular sized or $12 for essentially two beers. That's nice because I can get two different beers for the size of one for only $6. But I can't afford to pay $60 for dinner and a drink for two regularly. Some of the cocktails were priced ok, but most were too expensive. I don't feel like they've changed much or learned much from Cold Beer's failure; also the roof is still not open. If the price point was a few dollars less, I would be happy and probably come here a lot more often. Albeit, everything was pretty tasty (except my husband thought the mustard in his sandwich was too sweet), but we don't have the budget to return very often. Maybe there will be some changes as time progresses. Also, why is there no website or menus posted anywhere? That would definitely help.

Congratulations to Kevin, Valerie and his team on producing another standout restaurant. We were there on Friday, still some kinks but minor but what you experienced is the commitment Kevin puts into his restaurants. The food was great, nacho’s to die for, Sunday chicken sandwich boom, and you can’t find a better banana pudding anywhere…top that with a fun, exciting drink menu, great location and yes a winner. Congratulations….job well done!

Google
Flavor is good but prices are obviously trying to recoup covid losses. Outrageous price to portion ratio. Service is super slow. They seem both overworked and not set up for success -- trying to split the tab felt like we were in 2000. There was a manager or bartender standing around while our table waited again and again for service, only getting it when we flagged our waitress down. Wouldn't recommend, won't return.

Google
The vibe and atmosphere is definitely there and the location is great as well the food was on point but didn’t care for the drinks. The service was exceptional. They have an AC problem maybe because of the high ceilings. So it was hot inside the restaurant. I’m sure they will get that resolved. And the music was great!

Yelp
I visited this spot back when it was originally Cold Beer so, I was definitely curious to see how the concept might have changed once it became Slabtown. Obviously, the layout of the space is the same but I did notice some slight differences in the décor. I sat at the bar and ordered the Espresso Martini, Old Slab, and Basil Passionfruit Caipirinha cocktails to drink. I was feeling for something sweet so I also ordered the Warm Old Fashioned Banana Pudding dessert to eat. All of the cocktails were tasty and had a nice craft cocktail presentation, and I enjoyed the banana pudding. I don't recall the bartender's name but he was energetic and friendly enough. Minus one star because while dining inside, I observed another employee chasing away a homeless man that had wandered through the outside patio. I understand not wanting to encourage the homeless to loiter around and ruin patrons' experiences so, that was not my issue. I moreso took issue with the fact that the homeless man was clearly just passing through as he did not break his stride long enough to linger, however; the employee still went out of his way to chase after the man and "shoo" him away as if he was an unwanted dog or stray animal. It would behoove Management to spend some time training employees to better handle situations like that in a more tasteful manner moving forward.

Yelp
Great first experience. Food was outstanding. Some things had such unique flavors with a fun southern twist really setting the dishes apart from the normal expected flavors _ Bloody Mary and deviled eggs are both must haves! Service was good and there is indoor and outdoor seating right on the beltline in the spot of KGs old concept, Cold Beer. Worth a stop by for sure. Oh and heads up -- it's a public house but doesn't really have any TVs or sports going on so don't get it confused as many public houses are more sport oriented.

Yelp
Great service from Ashley! Outdoor seating on the Beltline is nice plus the dog joined us! Food was good and solid wine and drink menu! Try the strawberry ricotta toast

Yelp
Slabtown (the former Cold Beer) is a place I really want to love. It's in walking distance of our home, and a slightly quieter stretch of the Beltline where you're not dealing with quite as much of a crowd. It has a lot of great outdoor space too. That being said, this iteration still feels like it needs work. The cocktails are AMAZING, as expected from a sister restaurant to Gunshow. It's one of the best for drinks. The food... on the other hand... we started off with sharing nachos with friends - as per my photo, must love tomatoes. Which I do. But eh. We also ordered (not pictured) chicken fingers with fries, a Cuban sandwich, and a burger. All pretty good. Nothing life changing. The burger was quite tasty, but I think it's weird that the sides are either a green salad or bag of chips - no option to add fries, even for an upcharge; you'd have to order a whole entire separate plate of fries. It's early, and I'm sure the restaurant will continue to evolve. Service is always great there, and I hope things keep getting better!

Yelp
So, I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant as I'm on the beltline everyday. Well known Chef, on the beltline, more accessible menu than the previous iteration, it had a lot going for it. We get there at 7:30. Light crowd. Seated immediately and brought water by the host. The server then doesn't show up for over 10 minutes to take a drink order or any order. We flag him down. We ordered two drinks, two appetizers ( fish dip and deviled eggs), an appetizer as an entree ( the nachos) and an entree. When I looked online at the menu for entrees they had multiple options like jerk catfish, a burrito, etc. Tonight it was either a pound of wings or chicken tenders that's it. No non chicken option that wasn't a sandwich. Fine, I'll get the catfish po boy. I'm then informed there's no catfish. So now I'm stuck and just said F' it I'll get the chef salad with chicken. The apps come out. The deviled eggs come out and they are fine nothing special and the fish dip comes out. The fish dip was good and it's a healthy amt served with potato chips to scoop. Then the nachos come out after the appetizers but ahead of the salad. As others have mentioned the nachos are heavily tomato laden and the pulled pork is nondescript. This wouldn't be so much an issue if they were half the price or superica a few blocks away made a vastly superior nacho plate for 3 bucks less. They eventually then bring my salad with no chicken. So it goes back and the wait continues. The salad is nothing special. It's heavy handed on the salad dressing so that's basically all you taste. Different textures and flavors would have been welcome. This felt like something I'd order at a hotel restaurant. I hope at some point they get it together but at this point it's not ready for prime time.

Yelp
Slabtown is a new unique place on the beltline. The food is thoughtful and delicious, the patio is great for people watching, and the avocado marg may just be the best drink in Atlanta!

Don B.

Yelp
Great addition to the Beltline dining scene. Just about everything on the menu would have been a good choice, but I went with the Never On Sunday fried chicken sandwich. And the side salad was excellent. Great service and great outdoor dining too! Can't wait to go back.

Amy R.

Yelp
Slabtown was great on a warm summer evening. Their patios are dog friendly. Nice view from the rooftop overlooking the BeltLine. I ordered the parm fries and couldn't stop eating them. They were fresh and the toppings were delicious. They're definitely a must try! Friendly servers and staff. I tried 4 different drinks and they were all great but my favorite was the garden cosmo.

Benjamin B.

Yelp
Great menu and cocktail list, plus dog-friendly patio right on the Beltline. Also, NOT CROWDED...which is a rarity on a 80-degree Sunday for brunch.

Sofia F.

Yelp
We went here for brunch on Sunday and we absolutely loved everything about this place. 1. Ambience is very cool. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is a ton of outdoor seating. The outdoor seating includes several large tables that have community seating. You don't need a reservation for group under 6. 2. The staff is very welcoming! Our waiter, Hiram was awesome and so polite. 3. The food was incredible. I feel like avocado toast can be overrated but theirs was amazing. We also got the chicken sandwich and breakfast burrito, which were excellent! In summary, a great find on the beltline. Would highly recommend!

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Was so excited to check out slabtown but was left disappointed. The manager was rude, the food was meh, and the service was worse. When there are so many other options along the beltline, I'm not dying to give this place another try.

Hampton G.

Yelp
Not bad food... but what is the concept? We went around 1pm on Saturday and it was completely dead. The cocktails are still very good, which was what Cold Beer was known for. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my girlfriend ordered the smoked salmon toast. Chicken sandwich was very simple but did not understand the side of store bought potato chips. It just seemed odd for a Kevin Gillespie restaurant. I had trouble justifying $16 for this item. The salmon toast was fine but there was way too much whipped cream cheese. Our takeaway was the restaurant has no clear identity, but our expectations could have been set too high.

Tripp G.

Yelp
New name, same bleh food. The breakfast burrito was absolutely trash, mostly potato and very little egg. Couldn't finish it. Friends said the burger wasn't good either. Very disappointed in the food and the service.

Mitchell I.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place! The food and service met every expectation for our Brunch! My small Italian wife loves the big picture on the wall inside. We will definitely be returning here soon.

Kendall T.

Yelp
I sat at the bar and had a Cuban sandwich (very good) and a big beer. The beer selection is good and beer/drinks prices are actually reasonable. However, food prices are a little steep ($20 burger, fries not included). That said the food was tasty. I'll definitely go back.

Alan H.

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent dinner here on a Thursday evening. Their Melon Granita salad was excellent. Summer on a plate. A nice mix of melon granita, cucumbers, jalapeños, melon and basil oil. Highly recommend this dish while they still have it. Their Cuban sandwich was also fantastic. The pork was particularly tasty. Also had the Jerk catfish with a warm summer vegetable salad. Again, extremely tasty. The entire staff was super friendly. The chef even stopped by the table to chat. An all around great meal and experience. We look forward to going back.

Yelp
Slabtown is continuing Cold Beer's legacy of never being open. Myself and residents that live in the building above it think it is QUITE strange they are only open a few days a week and its never crowded....... Food and drinks are good.

Yelp
TLD/NR: Go here, drink a lot, eat a lot, be happy. My wife and I decided to bike over to Slabtown and give it a shot. We are big fans of Kevin Gillespie and were more than happy to try the replacement for Cold Beer. We chose wisely. We started with drinks. I had the espresso martini and she had the toasted old fashion. Both were excellent. The only complaint was that the martini was on the booze forward section of the menu and the old fashion was not. Our meal started with the Strawberry ricotta toast. It was sweet goodness. Fortified, we moved to the next round of drinks. I had Old Slab and she had the Thai Lime Gimlet. Both were absolutely outstanding. They rank among the more complex and interesting libations either of us have enjoyed. Mine was rye, sherry, rum. creme frais bois, mole, lapsang, and bitters. I will be spending a lot of time working out the exact proportions. That will be time well spent. Hers had Thai lime gin, elderflower, yellow bell pepper, and lime. Working on that will be additional delightful experimentation. Realizing food was in order, we got the salmon toast and, on the recommendation of our amazing waiter, the Cuban sandwich. Both were outstanding. The toast was was a rebuilt deconstruction of a great lox bagel. The smoked salmon was wonderful. Much like I have suffered in New York, the cream cheese was a touch heavy handed. I would put the sandwich up against anything I have had in Miami. Realizing our glasses were empty, we moved onto a final round of cocktails. This was the best decision of the day. I asked our server (I am kicking myself for not getting his name), what we should try that would match the complexity of our previous round. He asked if we liked heat, but not in terms of chili, but ginger. We replied sure. That resulted in my wife getting the Kentucky ginger mule. Bourbon never had it so good. The mix of ginger and sweetness from the Bourbon was perfect. I mentioned that the Sazerac was the drink I often used to rate a bar. He asked Cognac or rye. The question alone made me happy. I asked if they had High West. They only had a High West blend, but the bartender came over to talk about what whiskey were available. I told him to pick. I ended up with the ASW rye. I usually find their alcohols to be underaged and too hash. That was happily not the case. Not for a lack of trying, I cannot say enough good about our experience.

Shane Y.

Yelp
This place is great. Great food, great drinks, great service, great people watching, and great vibe. Had the burger, chicken sandwich, and deviled eggs. All were legit! Come here, bring your friends and you will feel like family.

Tina L.

Yelp
Drinks are excellent. Food is somewhere between meh and pretty good. Cobb salad was actually a mixed greens salad (Cobb is a specific thing, and this was not that), the falafel in the sandwich were like hush puppies, but way too mushy (like were they made from frozen dehydrated chickpea mush?), the chicken tenders were good but nothing special, the Cuban sandwich was $17 for half a sandwich, but the fish dip appetizer was good, though it came with a bag of chips instead of bread. We won't come back, except maybe just for drinks.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Excellent cocktails as expected. We tried the chicken sandwich and deviled eggs. The eggs were alright albeit a bit bland, the chicken sandwich on the other hand was perfectly cooked with great flavor and a juicy sizeable cut. As with cold beer, the service at this new restaurant also exceeded expectations. The servers were friendly, knowledgeable and responsive.

S M.

Yelp
Enjoyed having drinks at Cold Beer but hated the food so was excited to try the food at Slabtown. Ordered the nachos & fries to start and that was as far as we got as they never came back to check on us for over an hour. We didn't get the fries and the nachos barely had cheese or meat. They were basically plain chips with tomato's and onions. I hate writing a bad review because I want this restaurant to succeed asI love the location and the fact it's not crowded (which I'm guessing isn't great for them). I'd recommend them adding more apps/shareable meals to the menu. As for visiting.. they have a great drink menu so I'd go to the rooftop for drinks and recommend eating beforehand.
