I have been a loyal, paying customer at Slackers Bar since 2020 and have never had any major issues with staff or management. Over the years, I’ve built genuine connections with many people there and have always been pleasant, respectful, and supportive of the business.
One concern I overlooked for a long time was the owner’s daughter, Sierra, who was often unfriendly and very short with me, usually only asking what I wanted to drink without any engagement. It never bothered me enough to stop coming, because I truly enjoyed the environment and the people I connected with.
On January 10, 2026, I came in and was having a great time, just as I always do. Over the years, if Ric the cook is working, I typically request that he prepare my food. All of the bartenders are aware of this, and I even have his personal number. That evening, I texted him because I assumed he was busy in the kitchen. When I went to the restroom, which is down the same hallway as the kitchen, I saw another cook and simply asked him to get Ric’s attention for me. Ric looked up, and the owner, Celeste, was present and even smiled at me. I told Ric I wanted to place my order and asked if he could prepare my food. I never entered the kitchen or did anything inappropriate.
After that, Celeste came out and gave me a very uncomfortable look. Later, when things slowed down, I spoke to Ric again and was shocked when I was told that someone thought I was trying to “steal food.” That was extremely hurtful and confusing. Ric himself said that plenty of people request him to cook their food. I explained that I didn’t think it was a problem, especially since I’ve been coming there for years, always paying my bill and never causing any issues.
I returned on Monday, January 12, enjoyed myself, paid my bill, and even stood outside talking with people afterward. When I returned again on Wednesday, before I could even sit down, the bar back told me that by request of Celeste and Sierra, I was not to be served and that I should contact them if I had any questions.
I am completely heartbroken and confused by this. After years of being a loyal customer, never having problems, never being disrespectful, and always paying my bill, I was suddenly told not to return with no warning, no conversation, and no explanation.
I truly enjoyed this place and the people I met there, which makes this situation even more painful. I just wish there had been communication instead of being quietly and publicly turned away after supporting this business for so many years.
