"SoCal’s fast-casual chain Slapfish set an opening date for its debut East Coast location: Friday, July 20. To celebrate, the modern seafood shack plans to hand free lobster rolls to the first 107 customers. Two others are landing in Ashburn and Ballston by the fall, and another is coming to 1800 M Street NW in December." - Tierney Plumb

Fish and chips were nicely done. Crispy crust on the out side, fish was fresh. Lobster roll was not very good. What we really liked was the clam chowder. On the service side, some improvement is needed for staff who takes order. Food came fast.

I come to Slapfish because they have the BEST fish n chips around. That said, this time was a bit underwhelming. The chips (fries) that are typically hot and crispy, were only warm, and a little soggy. The real disappointment was the fish though. It was definitely hot and crunchy, but it tasted like it had been cooked in old oil. The tarter sauce masked the bad oil taste a bit, but it was still a let down. Typically my experiences here are 5 stars, so I hope my next visit will be better. I'll definitely be back.

I was very excited about the Slapfish opening up on my plaza and was looking forward to the experience based on other location reviews and the images on their site. I just got back and the experience was horrid. For $15.90, instead of a nice looking Lobster Grinder that they advertise on their site, I got a seafood sloppy joe with more sauce than seafood and about 8 fries on the side. What a ripoff. Check out the image of what is advertised vs what I got. Steer clear... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Update 9/16/18 The CEO/Founder - Andrew Gruel got in contact with me and was very understanding and showed real concern about my poor first experience at his restaurant. I honestly haven't had a better customer service experience in my life. The way that he dealt with the situation convinced me to back and give Slapfish another try and I must say that it was a much better experience overall. The wait was still quite long at noon on a Thursday (it took about 15 minutes just to get to order my food). The place is popular and was pretty packed. I am in a manual wheelchair and I must say that most of the tables inside are hightops, so I had to sit outside (it was pretty hot with the temperature in the 90s). I ordered the Clobster grilled cheese and it was brought out to me pretty quickly. The wait staff was very courteous (especially Joe who kept checking on me and brought me another cup of water. He was incredibly friendly and honestly, one of the best wait staff that I've ever had the pleasure to experience. The food was excellent with plenty of lobster chunks and crabmeat and the bread was perfectly buttered and toasted. I'd definitely recommend it.

I got the power bowl and lobster taquitos. The bowl was excellent. I had to mix it all together real good. And they made it without the cauliflower for me even though I said it was okay if they couldn’t. Will dine in next time.

Ordered the ultimate fish taco and fish&chips. The fry was good but not much flavor. The sauces that came with the fish and chips were good but that was about it. Overall, it was OK. I’d rather go to Fish Taco by Old Georgetown Rd.

I am having the worst the worst stomach pain right now and I took a bite a bite of the fried pickle and that’s all I ordered thank goodness. First time at this place omg!!!!! You guys!!!! I think these were pickled onion that completely soaked the fried pickle but thankfully it showed what I was really about to bite into 😒 not sure what the oily substance was underneath them either but when you order fried food you want it crispy and a good pickle not an old soggy one

Absolutely worth the wait in this opening month of our very first, local Slapfish! Almost all food is made in-house and that fresh flavor really shines through. I tried the shrimp cerviche ($7 and decent portion), succulent and just spicy enough, served with excellent, crispy, fresh tortilla chips and the street taco ($4.50), which was as authentic California cuisine as I have ever had back east. I chose crispy fish for mine but you can go with grilled also. Fresh cabbage, "awesome sauce", (nice heat to it), "Jersey sauce" (mayonnaise based) and fresh radish, wrapped in a fresh, warm, corn tortilla. The iced tea selection and natural flavored soda water fountain is unique and a lot of fun to mix! Two other pluses are unisex bathrooms and water in a box instead of sea life killing plastic, water bottles. Daily specials looked awesome and the staff was friendly and professional. It won't be too long until they work out the bumps and the food gets to the customer in less than 20 minutes. The line is out the door if you arrive after 11:45a. They open at 11 and I would choose either earlier or mid afternoon next time I go. Welcome to Rockville, Slapfish!

Good ambience and good customer service, food was average, we tried shrimp burrito, tilapia fish bowl and shrimp roll. Place is worth if u like seafood.... but for me it was little blend.
