Although the lobster bun was expensive at $31, it was good. The lobster grinder was also good even a bit spicy. Anyway, these are not everyday sandwiches. The staff are nice and courteous. One thing that I see needs improvement on is the soda dispenser. The drinks are not that good, except Coke. I woyld rather see the conventional soft drinks on it that the unique ones that do not taste good. Overall, it was a good experience.

Comfortable clean decor with some outdoor seating. Fish n chips were ok, good flaky fish, thin coating, but somehow soaked up lots of oil, tasted greasy. Fries were seansoned, not crispy. The fish taco was one large taco, hard to eat, fish was very fish, not good at all, unfortunately!

First time here and had a great time! We ordered the clobster grilled cheese, lobster grinder, fish taco and a small chowder. We read some yelp reviews about the lobster roll being $25 and it’s not that different than the grinder. But in hindsight I think the lobster roll had bigger chunks of lobster meat vs the grinder. Overall the grinder felt too saucey that takes away the flavor of the meat. The clobste grilled cheese, on the other hand, was AWESOME — I think it’s the right mix of meat and cheese. The bread was super soft but toasted. You can opt to have the salad or fries for any of the sandwiches. The salad that I got was a pleasant surprise - good mix of veggies and the dressing was also nice. The chowder was also very meaty, it’s definitely worth a try but I would not say it’s a must. I would return to try their fish bowl or a shrimp roll — I see lots of other people getting the fish bowl which seemed to be a healthy option as well.

We finally had a chance to try the menu @ Slapfish and we enjoyed it. However, it is pricey. We wanted to try the lobster grinder but it was sold out so we opted for the more expensive traditional lobster roll @ MP. Today it's $25, which I don't think its worth it. On the other hand, all the food was delicious. The lobster was full of flavor and the fried shrimp was crunchy and tender. Also, the lobster and shrimp was all stuffed into a top-split, white-bread hot dog bun lightly toasted in butter. Before we decide if this place is a hit or miss, we'll try the other items on the menu.

My bowl was full of variety and delicious! The greens were really fresh. I was pleasantly surprised by this one! But the kids fish taco was a joke. Look at my picture. Like fish on a tortilla and rice??? My toddler was not impressed and ate my food instead.

The guy working was super nice and personable! Greeted me right away, have me great recommendations, checked on my several times while I dined in even tho he was working the register. I looove good customer service! Now the food, was Absolutely Amazzzzing!! I ordered the lobster roll and side salad. And wanted to try out the fish tacos, one grilled and one fried! Soooo good! Fresh & lots of flavor! Of course I had to get a to go box, the lobster roll held up and was still delicious later!

I seen the review that Bay Area Foodz did on Instagram and I must say it did not disappoint. We both had the Clolobster grilled cheese sandwich. Which is crab and lobster on a buttery garlic toasted bread. The side of fries were very seasoned and the salad was fresh. The secret side of sauce went perfect with the Clolobster. I will be returning to try the lobster roll. The restaurant itself was very clean had a patio area and the service great.

Google
Lobster roll was fantastic. I'd recommend to get it with salad as I saw many other tables did not finish their fries and wasted a lot of food. My spouse also had the poke bowl, which was also very good (but large!). They have a smaller fish and rice bowl for kids and I liked that it came with an apple juice packet drink! Will come back next time!

Yelp
The Dive Oyster bar has made its way to South Bay. When visiting friends in LA, this was definitely a top choice I would force them to take me to. Found that this location existed and scheduled an urgent friend dinner. It really does take effort these days to get your friends out of their pajamas and away from work. Party of 9 arrived and was seated right away on a Friday night 6:30pm. Our server must've had coffee before her shift but she was moving! As dishes were ready to serve, she was on top of it. Anything that we needed, taken care of. Truffle fries - fried to have crispy bits, a solid soft crunch and dressed with truffle and cheese. Great shareable for all. Resist on eating it all before the pan roast comes out. Dip it! Jambalaya - I don't think I've had many to really say what it should taste like? Not bad. Shrimp and Grits - this was delicious! Hated that we shared it but was definitely nice. Pan Roast was delicious. Next time adding more spice to this dish and it'll be perfect.

Yelp
Great service! Host/Servers were all so nice and welcoming. The food was delicious and reasonable prices! Happy Hour: The oysters were SO big and fresh! The Dive Chowder: I'm very picky with my clam chowder but their full size chowder comes with plump prawns and clams in the shell! Has a hint of jalapeno to the chowder and creamy and seasoned well. Lobster Roll: Buttery and large chunks of lobster! Was on the smaller end but still pretty tasty. Cheesy Shrimp Grits: I think I'll pass on this next time. There wasn't anything wrong with it. My husband loved this dish but nothing really stood out about it. We went one day and I was craving the clam chowder a day later that I went back and ordered a large take out to enjoy at home. I definitely plan on coming back to try the House Special Pan Roast, gumbo, and cioppino!

Yelp
The Dive Oyster Bar is a casual sit-down serving seafood. I came by for dinner with a couple of friends. My friend isn't very fond of seafood but enjoyed our dinner. I recommended doing family style since they have big portions. And the staff was very helpful giving suggestions. They have red pepper flakes and habanero if you want to adjust the spice levels. The fish and chips: fish was just okay. And the fries were crispy! Ciopinno came with linguine. Overall it was very good; just wished it was served with bread instead of linguine. Lastly, our server recommended we go with Rosta for a lighter entree since the Pan Roast can be overwhelming.

Yelp
You've got to come here! Never heard of pan roast before this place but GOSH DARN it is so delicious!! They do it so well. We ordered some raw oysters (not on the menu-- we had to ask), cajun fries, and the House Special pan roast of course. FOOD [4.5/5] ========== + Raw Oysters [5/5] We got the creamy ones and they were sooo good. Tasted pretty fresh, comes with lemon and sauces. + House Special Pan Roast [6/5 - WOULD RECOMMEND!] OH MY GOSH. We were so amazed at the quality, creaminess, and portion of meat in this! Just purely amazed. The sauce is really buttery. + Cajun Truffle Fries [3/5] Really crunchy and greasy, and couldn't taste the truffle or the cajun.

Yelp
Oh yes! I will come again! The chowder was a 10- I ordered it twice! The shrimp Louie was great! Had a real amount of shrimp as well! The servers are friendly but young .... She left and didn't say goodbye The shmores bread pudding was super sugar bomb yummy!!! I loved it.... The crab appetizer I do NOT recommend! Too salty and the breading had spiciness not suitable for crab in my assessment.... I attended culinary school.this needs a little revision. Overall. I'm going back for sure! I loved it Oh, the Oysters were good yet tiny! You'll need two orders!!

Yelp
First time having pan roast & I ain't mad. So I've heard family members and friends constantly raving about Las Vegas's pan roast over and over and over and OVER!! Regardless of how many visits I've made out to LV, I have yet to try this dish. Hell, I don't even know what it is... Apparently this magical dish is a creamy tomato stew/gumbo filled with spices, seafood, and sausages. While I normally don't do well with "creamy" you can say less when it comes to anything tomatoey!! I eagerly jumped on board when I heard SJ was getting its very own version @ The Dive Oyster Bar. Our party of 3 [2 adults, 1 toddler] arrived for dinner on a weekday @ about 5:15pm. Lucky for us, the establishment was just introducing their Happy Hour menu that same day. The menu offers an array of appetizers, soups, salads, po' boy sandwiches, & seafood cajun & Creole dishes. Extra points for having a small but very doable kids menu of chicken strips, Alfredo, and Mac n cheese. Dinner purchases: House Specialty Pan Roast [mild] w/ Rice Cajun Lobster Pasta [no spice] Kid's Chicken Strips Extra Side of Rice HH Oysters Food was good. Pan roast was delicious!! Nothing too overly creamy that I couldn't handle thanks to the tomatoey goodness that helped balance things out for me. Seasonings and spices were great and I really liked how the "mild" heat was enough for my 4yo to sample. The cajun lobster pasta was great. My toddler went to town on this!! She kept requesting for "more lobster, more lobster." The noodles were cooked well and, again, the mild heat in the cajun cream sauce was manageable for her palate. Chicken strips were on the thin side of things, cooked well but very thin. Be aware that ranch is the only dipping sauce that comes with this meal aside from the ketchup that is available at each table. You will not find any bbq or honey mustard in this joint. Oysters were fresh, clean tasting, and just the right size. 4/5 stars overall. The food is good enough to return for but being that the business is fairly new, there is absolutely room for improvement. Our hiccups we came across were drinks being forgotten and the pan roast arriving without the rice. The waitress said the dish must have had pasta instead and that too was incorrect. Restroom is single stall so we came across issues with our little one, disaster averted when the staff told us to go next door and ask if we could use their restroom instead.

Yelp
Yummy lunch with my hubby today! We shared the bacon-wrapped shrimp which were excellent, and perfectly cooked. I got the lobster roll with clam chowder, delicious, and lots of lobster. My hubby got the fried shrimp po' boy sandwich. The shrimp were scrumptious, but the sandwich kept falling apart as he ate, which seemed annoying. I don't think he will order that again. Nice ambience and friendly service. I had enough clam chowder to take home for my lunch the next day. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I had high expectations and unfortunately it just fell flat. We ordered the popcorn crawfish, the tater tot nachos, and the pan roast. The crawdads were super tiny and just tasted like oil, with Cajun seasoning on top. The nachos were a miss for me as well. Not quite sure what is was about it but I didn't enjoy them as much as I thought I would. The pan roast was mediocre. I could only really taste the tomato flavor. However they didn't skimp out on the rest of the protein. So that was a plus. They have some outdoor seating, and umbrellas for shade if you decide to dine outside. That was also a plus.

Yelp
This is the new seafood restaurant that replaced the former SlapFish. It features Cajun/ Southern seafood. Stopped here for lunch today. We tried... * Blackened Catfish Po' Boy Sandwich with Garlic Truffle Fries -- The catfish was fresh, but the Cajun blackening lacked any heat. The French Roll was nothing special, and lacked the warm crisp crust you'd expect for an authentic Po' Boy. The highlight for us was the garlic truffle fries (+$2.50 upcharge)... served fresh out hot, tasty garlic, Parmesan and truffle flavor. * Blackened Salmon Salad -- It was ok. Again, the salmon was fresh, but the Cajun blackened seasoning lacked any kick. Server was friendly and helpful. Small restaurant with not a lot of ambiance. Can be pricey, but to be expected for fresh seafood I guess. Nice, small dog friendly patio. Full service, wait to be seated restaurant now (unlike the SlapFish order at the counter model).

Yelp
LOVE LOVE pan roasts!! We've gone to the ones in Las Vegas so we were SO EXCITED to see this place open much closer to home!! I will say - I think because we're comparing to Vegas - they had a bit of a disadvantage but overall we thought it was pretty good. I was a bit annoyed when they don't seat in order of sign in but cater to the size of the party. And it didn't help when I was hangry... but we had three and a party of five went ahead of us and keep in mind they put two tables together... I prefer places that seat in order but again maybe cause I was hangry - and so we decided to go ahead and get seated in the outside patio. Along with the many flies and the ants that came crawling onto our table... yeah - not the best experience... But our server was really nice - not the hostess so much. Wasn't friendly not helpful at all. Again - just added to this bad experience... So onto the FOOD... My FAVORITE which I will come and even get it to go is their clam chowder. I didn't realize you can order without the bread bowl - I think it's the same price but honestly I don't need the extra carbs!! That chowder had so many clams and they know how to SEASON their clam chowder!! I think I licked the bowl clean - it's not too rich and again - the herbs they add to their clam chowder take it to the NEXT LEVEL!! Hhhmmm as I'm writing this - I wonder if I should run over and get a to go bowl.... We also got the popcorn crawfish as a starter - typically I get soft shell crab but never saw popcorn crawfish before so I thought I'd give it a try. This is where the stars started dropping on the review - the crawfish were so tiny - and when cooked get even tinier and had so much crust which overpowered and the seasoning was too strong for such delicate little tails... Was not a hit and middle ended up throwing some of the popcorn crawfish into the pan roast which helped. So the House Special Pan Roast with rice - which comes with shredded blue crab, shrimp, mussels, clams and sausage. We REALLY wanted to LOVE it but it's had to compete with Vegas. We Liked it - but the shredded blue crab meant you couldn't find ANY blue crab. Sausage as good and shrimp, was a good size, mussels and clams were good - one clam didn't open so was sad they still served it to us with an unopened clam... :( Maybe next time we'll select a different pan roast and eat with noodles instead... The ONE dish we all loved was the shrimp louie salad. There's something to be said when they added the "blackened shrimp". It was SO GOOD. I could've just eaten that salad!! Thank goodness for the clam chowder and shrimp louie salad. The experience and some of the other food was very lackluster. BUT am wanting to go back and try other dishes to see how the rest of the menu is so who knows - maybe review will improve. Note that it's a tiny place so expect a long wait if you don't go in early... And I do NOT recommend eating in the patio area unless you want to add flies and ants as additional protein in your meal!

Yelp
We were famished after the farmers market so we decided to stop by here for some lunch. My husband and I shared the pan roast and some steamed clams. The pan roast was plenty of food for two, we even had left overs after. Service was great and we got our food super fast. Overall, a great place to eat if you're ever peckish for seafood.

Ruthie T.

Yelp
I'm in between 3-3.5 stars. We went when they first opened so it was super busy and chaotic. This restaurant used to be slapfish so it makes sense to replace it with another seafood restaurant. As for the food, the two items we ordered were good. Rich and creamy but it wasn't overpowering. We also ordered oysters, I'm glad they tasted fresh and not fishy. I know it was still in their soft opening phase, but they should definitely hire more staff. Either that or have the current staff be more attentive towards their customers. We got lucky and they served us right away but I've seen others being completely ignored. Hopefully the service has improved. I'd like to come back to try more dishes.

Stephanie X.

Yelp
First time trying pan roast and I thought it was okay. Maybe because it's a new food for me, but I didn't enjoy the taste of it that much. Also, the pan roast is supposed to have shredded blue crab but I didn't see/taste any? The hot Cheeto truffle Mac n cheese was delicious however. I think I'd come back to try some of their other dishes. Service was great, our waitress was very nice and attentive. We came on a Wednesday evening for dinner, and it was slow so we were sat immediately. It was nice and quiet inside :)

Yelp
This new restaurant was a pleasant surprise in the neighborhood. So glad I convinced the hubby to try the new place. We had just missed happy hour but it was fine. For a family with two toddlers, we ordered the kids Mac and cheese, the special pan roast and garlic fries. The portions were large. We did take home a little of each. Overall great dining experience and I highly recommend the special pan roast. So deep in flavor and lots of seafood!

Joanna S.

Yelp
I came here at 1130am on a weekday and the place was empty! I was worried there would be a line. By the time we left. It was almost full. The service was really attentive but what I came here to rave about was the food! The pan roast was delicious! I even ordered one for my husband to go so he could try it. This is definitely a 2 or more person portion and you probably need extra rice or noodles to finish it all. The sauce was delicious and everything in it was too like the sausage. We had clams and fresh oysters too. Everything was good. Everything was a tad pricy but what isn't these days? 2 people with this much food and beers was about $70 a person. I would recommend this place to try. There's a lot of space inside and pro tip: order it non spicy if you want to share it with kids. Even mild has a kick. We ordered the clams medium spicy and that was definitely a kick!

Jessica K.

Yelp
Good food, ambiance, and service! Went with a party of 7 on a Friday night and there was a bit of a wait. They have limited seating (indoor only) but well decorated interior. Our server was super friendly and very attentive throughout the night, making sure our waters were always filled and checking in on us periodically. Oysters: I personally don't eat oysters but my group liked them so I'm assuming they're good! They said it was very fresh. Note - oysters are NOT on their paper menu so you have to ask for them. However for their size I'm not sure if I would recommend - they're about half the size of other oysters I've seen and they came out to around $3.50 per, you can probably find better oysters in the area. House special pan roast: you have choice of rice or noodles and I went with noodles. They ask for a spice level and I went with medium - it had a good kick but not too spicy! It comes out with a lot of a creamy tomato sauce which was very flavorful and delicious. I even had plenty of leftover sauce that I ended up taking home to cook with! Hot Cheetos truffle Mac n cheese: oh my goodness this hit the spot. The Mac n cheese was so rich and gooey cheesy and the hot Cheetos flakes on top just added to it. It was very filling too. It's technically a starter but could definitely be a full meal considering how much they gave us. Highly highly recommend Popcorn crawfish: small crawfish deep fried in batter. It wasn't spectacular for me and was a bit plain. Granted, crawfish meat is usually pretty small and after frying they probably decrease in size too. I'd skip this one. S'mores bread pudding: so rich, so flavorful, and everything went together so well. Came with cooked marshmallows, vanilla ice cream, chocolate drizzle.. The bread pudding was perfectly gooey. Get this! This place isn't cheap but reasonable considering it's seafood and decent sized portions. Would highly recommend checking it out and I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I'll be honest, this location was kind of a hot mess during my visit. The place was still new and just opened within a couple of months, so I am sure they were just figuring out their staffing needs. Visited for lunch on a weekday and I believe they only had a two servers at the time and unfortunately they severely underestimated their popularity. Despite this, service was still totally fair and kind. Their iPad malfunctioned and their entire waitlist was erased, but we were still accommodated and seated quickly. Our server was really cool and apologetic about the entire situation. Our meal was excellent! I ordered the shrimp pan roast and it was absolutely delicious. This isn't my normal type of cuisine I would prefer, but I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. The broth is extremely flavorful and mixed with rice is just perfection. When I went to the restroom they had a PILE of dirty dishes that I had to cautiously walk around in a tight hallway. I totally get it, but picky customers looking for a problem could cause an uproar. I have no doubt that this location will remain popular for their great food, I just hope my next visit isn't as wild.

Yelp
I have been trying to try out one or more of these oyster bars for a year ot so (mostly attempting to try the ones in Las Vegas) but when my friend told me about this place I was thrilled to give it a try. We arrived on a Friday just before noon and the restaurant was not too crowded. Maybe it was the fact that is was right after Independence Day. I was seated immediately and I waited a few minutes for my friend to arrive. The server asked be if I needed something to drink while I waited which was very nice. After my friend arrived, the server came over and explained the menu and the fresh oysters available for the day. She explained that the entrees were quite large and we could share family style. I think that would have been a nice option if we were eating a variety of items instead of each getting an entree. Anyways we ordered the House Specialty Pan Roast and Jambalaya. Our order arrived in less that 10 minutes piping hot. I did get the Pan Roast mild and should probably have done the same with the Jambalay since it was over 90F outside. Firstly the portions were significant single serving size. The Pan Roast was nice creamy tomato sauce with various seafood items in it. Unfortunately two of the mussels were dead and did not open. I think they should be better when working with shellfish. I did not taste any of the blue crab but it could have been overpowered by the saucy broth. The Jambalaya was definitely spicy and it would have been better if it was turned down a notch. It too had the sam mussel problem. Personally, I think the addition of white fish would add to the flavor. Also having the option of slices of french baguette instead of rice could make the Pan Roast more interesting. Overall the meal was good not great.

Yelp
Top notch service! Everyone was helpful and really nice! We had a lot of questions on the menu since it's a new place and our first visit. We sat out on the small patio. Started off with 2 dozen oysters. 1st dozen were Kumamoto. Small, delicious, flavor bombs! 2nd dozen were just as good, a little larger, but can't remember the name. lol. The clam chowder was so delicious! Thick but not overly creamy. Chunky goodness. The Traditional Pan Roast - House Specialty was surprisingly really good! I don't even know how to describe it -- thick like the chowder, lots of seafood, tomato-based but nothing like a spaghetti sauce. Really good with the rice. Huge portion is enough to share. I ordered tater tots and fries, just because- tater tots and fries! Lol. They make them crunchy.... Yummmm! Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert. We'll have to come back another time!! Indoor seating was nice and not cramped. They had a large party seated next to the wall with the huge mural. Cant wait to go back to try more dishes!

Yelp
Saw this place open up and put it on my list to try since I've seen so much about this Pan Roast/kettle style cooking method for seafood. I went on a weekday for lunch and was sat right away (note, there aren't a ton of seats inside so depending on when you go, there may be a wait. We got the: - Sprouts had a nice bacon vinaigrette with feta/red onions, pretty good amount as well.) - Clam chowder in a bread bowl nice thick clam chowder, the way that I like it, didn't get too many clams in my bite but it had good flavor) - Combo Pan Roast the star of the show, we got this with rice and it came with shrimp, clams, mussels, fish and sausage. The sauce was like a mix of chowder consistency and a cioppino. There is an option to get it served with pasta, linguine, but we though the rice was a better option to soak up the sauce. I do wish that it came with more rice though. It's definitely meant to be served between 2 people along with an app or two - Beignets these were the lowlights of lunch I would say. The dough was a bit chewy and not as light as beignets should be. It was more like a mochi consistency where you would take a bite and then chew for a bit. Overall though, I think the seafood is the star here and would come back for a happy hour

Yelp
This place has quick service and the staff are very friendly. We ordered raw oysters, fried oyster, panroast, sautéed clams/mussels, and some pasta. It was just enough for 5 people. Stomach ate first this trip! Didn't get as many food pics for the camera roll.

Yelp
Saturday afternoon ~3PM and had no wait! Small and clean interior with good AC, not too loud inside. Food overall was decent but the things we ordered leaned towards unhealthy / junk food. FOOD: Oysters (8/10) - Two types of oysters, fresh clean and sweet. About $3 per oyster so a bit pricy. Lobster Roll (7/10) - Lots of large chunks of lobster on a fluffy roll. Was good but had a ton of butter on the roll and on the lobster making it feel pretty heavy. Cajun Truffle Fries (9/10) - Super crispy, not too oily, and very good flavor!! Really liked this one :) Popcorn Crawfish (7/10) - Good flavor and slightly spicy, but you can't really taste the crawfish. It comes as a very large portion though! Chowder Frots - (8/10) - Originally thought this was coming as a clam chowder, but the clam chowder is actually the sauce poured on top! A big, delicious mess of fries and tater tots with clam chowder, cheese, and pico de gallo on top!

Yelp
The Dive Oyster Bar popped up on my feed as a hot & new restaurant in the South Bay. My husband and I love New Orleans, and what intrigued me about the restaurant was its New Orleans-style seafood cuisine. We stopped by The Dive Oyster Bar around 3:30pm on a Friday. The restaurant was small, so I could see how some reviews talk about limited seating and exceedingly long wait times. That being said, the restaurant was a third full when we arrived so we had no problem getting a table. Service was great. There were two servers on the wait staff who were very attentive to our table. The food came out in a timely manner as well. We ordered a few things off the menu including the Hot Cheeto Truffle Mac and Cheese, Cajun Lobster Pasta with medium heat, and the Pan Roast House Specialty (crab, sausage, mussels, shrimp clams) with mild heat on rice. Overall food was delicious and flavorful. The Pan Roast House Specialty was my entree, but it ended up being my husband's favorite of the 3. I appreciated how much it was loaded with seafood. I don't eat pork, so I didn't eat the sliced sausages that there was plenty of. The Cajun Lobster Pasta was amazing. It was super cheesy, and the medium kick to the Cajun cream sauce was not for the faint of heart. Personally I thought it was the right mount of spice. The lobster pieces were huge. FYI - this dish was labeled as MP, and we paid $52 for this entree. Just know that you're in for the splurge if you order this dish. Lastly, the truffle mac was fine. On par with ones I've had before. It would've been nice if the Hot Cheeto crumbs were more crunchy, because they did taste stale to us. One of our waitresses made a good point that the steam and heat from the truffle mac can make the Cheetos become soggy and loose its freshness. I would pass on this next time.

Yelp
It was my second visit but first time dining in. My first visit was a fail since I came on a day they changed their hours to a later open time due to being understaffed. Since this place is still fairly new, I wanted to dine in when they first opened at 11am to avoid any wait later. Came on a Saturday, it started to get busy around 11:30am. Decent sized spot with good amount of parking on the restaurant side and more available in the back. Good indoor lighting, not a loud environment. Overall, a great visit. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Answered our questions, gave helpful explanations and recommendations, and got me what I asked for in a timely manner. You can't go to an oyster bar without trying their fresh oysters! There were two options available during our visit, kumamoto and shigoku. I'd imagine this changes over time. We got half of a dozen, 3 flavors of each. So good and fresh! Cajun truffle fries were really good. Battered and fried lightly, not overly crispy nor too soft. Perfect pairing with the aioli dipping sauce. Fries are the perfect appetizer to start off and go around! Pan roast is a must! I got the house speciality and contemplated on rice or linguini pasta. I'm usually a rice lover but thought the pasta would be better. I was happy with my decision. Pasta was cooked al dente and paired well with the sauce. Seafood quality and portions were good. With the house specialty, you get a mix of the shrimp, mussel, clam, shredded blue crab, and sausages. I forgot there was crab in it until after we ate, didn't really see or taste it. Might've just been covered in the sauce. You can choose level of spicy (or just no spice). I'm glad they do this since I read reviews the pan roast could be on the sweet side. I got hot and was given extra peppers on the side. Highly recommend for anyone who likes a nice kick. As for drinks, we got two beers on tap. Almanac Love IPA and Eas Brother Po Pilsner, refreshing! I hope they add a West Coast IPA to the list!

One of my all time favorite places in Vegas is The Oyster Bar for their pan roast. Now I don't have to go far or wait in a long line to get my pan roast fix! Everything looked so good on the menu, that it was so hard not to order, but we wanted to save our appetite for the pan roast and gumbo. Since we came early on a Friday to beat the big lunch rush, our food was ready in no time. The portions are pretty large and the dishes were piping hot. The gumbo was flavorful and my house pan roast was creamy and delicious. There was plump shrimp, sausage, mussels, and clams. However, I was not getting any of the blue crab in there. I also wish their portions of rice was a little bit bigger as it's a huge bowl of goodness and I prefer it on the side so will ask for that next time. Service was pretty good and would definitely be back for my pan roast fix.

Yelp
10/10 would come again Kept driving by this place and I'm so glad we finally got to try it! The chowder frots, sprouts, and fried oysters were great appetizers; everything tasted really fresh. If anything, the bacon in the sprouts added a little too much grease to my liking, but nothing noticeably bad... we still ate it up. GET THE CHOWDER FROTS ‼‼‼ IT WAS OUR FAV it's a mix of french fries, tater tots, onions, tomatoes, cheese, green onions, and their clam chowder lining the bottom of the skillet. This place is known for their pan roasts and for good reason. The portions were huge and great for sharing. You can change the spice level as well :) Overall, a solid choice if you have a craving for seafood Service: 5/5 (thank you vincent!) Food: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5

Yelp
Found this place and realized it was a new restaurant. I tried to call prior to for wait time but didnt reach anyone decided to still come. It was a 5 minute wait on a Wed around 2. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Alena was out server and she was great. We started off with wine which was good. Later had minosas they were crisp. I wanted to try a variety so heres my thoughts. Food: Lobster Roll: It was okay it was a little dry needed more butter the truffle fries were amazing Shrimp and Grits: They were good but I probably wouldnt order again Popcorn Crawfish: Different and amazing Pan Roast Shrimp: Felt like it was missing something probably should add sausage for flavor. Tried with noodles so pretty good but I would prefer less sauce All in all I would be back and willing to try more. The location is a good size the service is really quick and great customer service

Yelp
Had high expectations since we heard good things about the socal location but it was just average. Came sat night around 8pm and waited 10 mins at the front with multiple staffs walking past us and 2 other group also waiting with no acknowledgment. After 10 mins, someone finally acknowledged the guest in front of us and said they weren't seating anymore so we left. Came back the next night at 6pm and was told it'll be a 30 minute wait which turned into a 2hr wait. Ordered right when we got sat but food took a while to come out. I ordered the mac and my partner ordered the pan roast. They brought out the Loaded Mac n Chowder way earlier than the pan roast so my partner had nothing to eat for 15 mins. The server checked in on us a lot as food took a while to come but I felt like it was to the point where it's excessive. In my opinion, there is no need to check in 5-6 times in a 30 min period to ask how is everything when we have not received any food. Mac n Chowder: 1/5 This came room temperature... Not sure if they left it on the counter and forgot to bring it out or what happened but there was no steam and even the inside was not warm. Mac was just okay, not that enjoyable as it was cold. Pan Roast: 4.5/5 This was delicious! There was a good amount of seafood and soup was creamy. Wish it came with more rice or maybe bread to dip it in. I understand it's still soft opening and they might be figuring things out but I do not see myself coming back. They're short staffed and the wait time is just not worth it. I have to admit the pan roast was good though so that's the only pro from this visit.

Yelp
We came here during the first week of opening after hearing some many other foodies post about this on their page!! It wasn't as packed later in the evening and we were seated right away. There was only 1 server so she tried her best to attend to everyone while still checking in on us! Knocking down a couple stars due to the food :( The pan roast was creamy and tomato forward but the rice was really uncooked. I rarely complain about having minimal rice but this dish really needed more of it to help balance all the sauce. The grits were really good - highly recommend getting this. The seafood in the chowder was cooked perfectly but it was more of a sauce than chowder texture...very thick. I would skip on the beignets, unless you want really crunchy dough.

Yelp
Came by for late lunch on a weekday with my husband. Was greeted by friendly staff and sat down. Staff apologized for the wait, it's understandable it's new and short staffed. They were interviewing people at another table. Ordered Cajun lobster pasta Lobster roll Cajun fries 6 piece chicken wing dry cajun spiced Beignets The chicken wings were crispy, good flavor, reminded us of wing stop but it was a little dry. The cajun lobster pasta was just okay the lobster meat was a bit overcooked, the lobster claw meat was a bit salty, the pasta was cooked right. Market price that day was $52. They gave us a cracker to crack the lobster claws. The lobster roll was good, nice bun and lots of lobster meat. The cajun fries were good and crispy. Market price that day was $32.50 The beignets looked a little sad. They were crispy and dipping with the sauce reminded me of a crispy pop tart. The bathroom was clean I just don't like that their sink faucet. You have to keep on holding down the knob to get the water to come out, not very user friendly especially if you have oily cajun hands. Very little water comes out. Overall food was alright and staff were friendly/efficient.

Yelp
SoCal's The Dive bringing the steam kettle trend to The Bay! Food aside, I thought about the amazing free facials you would get on the daily working BOH. K glassy skin goals! The Dive is a popular SoCal transplant (Temple City & Irvine) and this is their first NorCal location at the former Slapfish (Westgate West). Kettle steam cooking started in LV (Chef Michael Ritter) spreading to SoCal...and now San Jo with The Dive. Kettle steam cooking allows for gentle, uniform cooking. No overcooked seafood here. They're open for takeout, indoor dining, and dog-friendly outdoor dining. We visited during the first soft opening week for a quiet lunch. M E N U Cajun & Creole cuisine with a California twist (Viet-owned). House specialty: Pan Roast & Roasta Liquor license pending? Happy Hour is pending and per staff, will be available in several weeks. F O O D * 1/2 Dozen Oysters // 4 stars - Kumamoto ($3.75 x3): https://tinyurl.com/2hjucnwj - Shigoku ($3.50 x3): https://tinyurl.com/47sdb4cd Fresh, clean oysters with a refreshing, sweet cucumber finish. Served with their housemade green sauce, cocktail sauce, and horseradish. I liked the green sauce, a spicy-tangy herbaceous sauce with chimichurri vibes. Unfortunately, one of the oysters had sand/broken shell fragments. * Cheesy Shrimp & Grits w/ creamy andouille sausage sauce, bacon, green onions, mozzarella +cheddar, holy trinity ($13) // 4.5 stars: https://tinyurl.com/yp9zb2ss Good value and portion, the grits were creamy and flavorful with cheese pulls and savory bacon + sausage bits. The shrimp was large, plump, and perfectly cooked with a nice firm bite. * House Specialty Pan Roast w/ shredded blue crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, sausage, rice ($28) // 4.5 stars : https://tinyurl.com/595zu4av -Requested medium spicy The seafood stew was chockfull of perfectly cooked seafood and slices of spiced sausage in a thick, rich, and creamy tomato sauce. So hearty and satisfying esp with the jasmine rice soaking up the saucy deliciousness. To nitpick, medium spicy was not spicy at all so going HOT next time. * Lobster Roll w/ toasted brioche, garlic butter, mayo, maine lobster, the dive's cajun spice, fried (MKT - $32) // 5 stars: https://tinyurl.com/ye2ks588 The food was so good so we thought what the hey? Let's try the lobster roll too. It did not disappoint. Warm, crunchy-soft, buttery brioche bun cradling fresh, meaty pieces of lobster coated in a delicious cajun-spiced butter. No skimping on the lobster. Simple, delicious, and hits different with the cajun spices...adds that kiss of garlicky heat. The accompanying beer battered fries were hot, crunchy, and well-seasoned (not too salty). S E R V I C E Friendly, upbeat, and attentive staff. We were the only ones in the patio and our sweet server Anh was there when we needed her, making sure our glasses were filled. The chef even came out to make sure we were enjoying the food. Food comes out quickly and when ready so I would request for dishes to be staggered for a more leisurely meal. A M B I A N C E Hip and casual with a large urban diving mural and TVs. Side patio has several tables. P A R K I N G Easy parking in the plaza. Overall, for soft opening week, I was really impressed with the execution of the food - perfectly cooked seafood and flavorful, well-spiced cajun/creole dishes (not too salty which is my preference). The Dive is a great addition to San Jo to get your SEEfood grub on!

Yelp
First time and the experience was great. Lots of seating and parking. Convenient location. For the chowder frots as appetizer. It was tasty. Lobster roll was market price. Toast was full of butter and lots of lobster meat. Pan roast has a kick and it was perfect. Kids menu pan roast with grilled cheese. The pan roast is more on the sweet side.l, unlike the adult size one.

Yelp
3.5 stars My husband is a huge fan of seafood pan roast so when he found out about this place you best believe we have to try it lol. We came on a Wednesday around noon and only waited about 30 minutes to get a table. There were 3 servers but it seemed only 1 person was doing almost everything? Maybe they're still figuring things out. What we ordered: House (seafood) Pan Roast - 7/10 I dont think ours had shredded blue crab as we didn't see any or maybe there was only a small amount of it? Also it wasn't as creamy as we thought it would be. Shrimp & Cheesy Grits - 8/10 a bit on the salty side but was still good and very filling. Hot Cheetos Truffle Mac - 7/10 per my son it was lacking cheese flavor. Mac n Cheese (kid's menu) - 6/10 per my other son it was bland. Popcorn Crawfish - 10/10 this was a hit and the only dish that stood out. Overall, it was still a pleasant experience. Might come back to try other dish and of course for the popcorn crawfish.

Yelp
Saw this on IG and decided to try! My fiancée and I came here on a Thursday around 430. There were about 3 other tables there and we sat down right away. I like murals on the wall and they had some good music playing. We shared: Spring salad; it was good! The bacon vinaigrette was delicious! There wasn't enough on the salad at first but the waitress happily got us an extra side of it. Popcorn crawfish: my favorite!! There was a lot of it for $14. The crawfish were big and tasty without too much breading. Seasoning was nice and simple but tasty. Pan roast: this was my first time having pan roast. It was good but I was expecting more for $28. At least more rice! The seafood was cooked well tho and I liked the tomato sauce. We ordered medium spice and it had a nice kick.

Yelp
The vibe of this place is very cute. We came around 7:30 and only waited 15 minutes , not too long. Service was a little slow but the food was great. However, I do think the price point is a little high for some of the items. Pan roast house special: I really liked this. It reminded me of a tomato bisque but with seafood. Would def recommend. The portion is huge too, we didn't finish but planning to eat it with garlic bread at home :D Chowder frots: this was really good as well but I wish there was more chowder on it.

Yelp
So excited that they now serve seafood pan roast (I've been craving since moving up here). The service was great, chill ambience and food was pretty good. Popcorn Crawfish - 2/5 - this was overall pretty mid. Crawfish itself is already less meat so you mainly tasted the fried batter and overall pretty dry. Chowder Tots - 3/5 - rating is biased since I felt like it was too cheesy and not enough of the chowder flavor. Pan Roast - 4/5 - not the best pan roast I've had but it does hit the spot! I wish there were more seafood bits in there and overall could use more seafood meat. One of the mussels actually was completely closed so I couldn't eat that. Oysters - 5/5 - tastes fresh and was overall very good! Parking was relatively easy and there is a lot. Overall, this place is okay and I'd go back for the oysters and the pan roast :)

Yelp
If you're looking for a fix and craving the Palace Station Oyster Bar Pan Roast from Vegas, this place is a great alternative that is closer to home. For Monday lunch, they were quite busy and business was booming. Didn't take long to get seated and the staff offered great service! It was also very easy to find parking out front. I ordered the house specialty pan roast for $28, which came with shrimp, lump crab meat, mussels, clams and sausages. Spice level I chose mild, which was definitely manageable. I think I could've upped the spice level a little bit. The flavor was good, not overwhelmed with celery either, and there were some nice chunks of bell pepper that gave the pan roast many different textures. The tomato cream base was quite flavorful and when served with rice, it was very heartwarming and filling. I also ordered the sprouts ($12), which I originally thought was a sprout salad, maybe I should've confirmed with the server hahaha. But, it was brussel sprouts with feta, bacon and red onion. I enjoyed this one a lot. It wasn't overly salty and the feta added a nice creamy balance to the entire dish. Overall, pretty comparable to the one in vegas. Would come again!

Yelp
The wait was a lil longer then expected but I understand there still figuring things out I would have not mention it if they did not seat another party that just pulled up Infront of us party (4) we was 3 don't know if that made a difference lol But besides that mishap the overall experience was great with the waitress she was very pleasant and easy with me and I could be a lil difficult with the extras I want sometimes! Food was super good Me and my family has been waiting for a pan roast type restaurant to open in the bay! Look around there is none! Definitely a must try

Yelp
BAY AREA! We officially have a pan roast spot! While I never tried Ritters. I did wait in that 3+ hour line in Vegas! It was delicious but I couldn't even finish it. I would say the Dive is a little bit creamier and more tomato than the Vegas one. They add much more variety like you can customize your panroast! If you're looking for some fresh oyster options this is THE spot for it if you're not in San Francisco. I heard they will soon be launching happy hour too! I'm excited to try other items on the menu! Ps. The staff is so nice and attentive! And they have an outdoor patio that's dog friendly

Yelp
I was excited when I see there's a pan roast restaurant in bay area! Called to make a reservation, but I don't think that mattered, the didn't have the table ready anyway. We ordered: - kids mac n cheese(tasteless) - popcorn crawfish(good, spicy because of the cajun spice) - raw oyster kumamoto and shigoku(not on the menu - there were pieces of broken shells on the oysters!) - house special pan roast(not bad, I think the shrimp was still raw, the rice was overcooked, if you order this, I think it's better with the pasta) - soft shell crab(good) - jambalaya(good) - ciopino(good) - fried oyster po boy with truffle fries(good) - smores bread pudding(best of the entire meal) - beignet(meh! It's like fried wonton instead of doughnut! See pic) The 2 stars is mainly because the service is horrible!! They don't have enough waitresses. It felt like everything was self serve. We ordered and didn't even served water. Asked multiple times and still didn't come for a while. We had to clean the plates on our table ourselves before desserts and even when the waitress saw we were cleaning our own table, she didn't bother to help. The icing of the cake was they charged 20% large group tip! Because we were 7 people(including an infant and a toddler). If the service is good. I would not mind paying that! There are better places with better foods and service around, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Yelp
Finally a restaurant with pan roast in the bay area! The portions are decent-sized and quite flavorful. It's not amazing like the Oyster Bar in Vegas, but it's the closest thing we have without having to travel to Vegas or LA. I came around 6:15pm on a Thursday with a group of four and my wait was less than five minutes. There are three small tables outside(pet friendly) and the inside was pretty small so I could see why there would be a long wait, especially on the weekends. I ordered a couple items with a group of four: 1. 2 x House Specialty Pan Roast($28) 4/5 - Creamy tomato-based stew with shrimp, mussels, clam, sausage, and blue crab(shredded and not noticeable). There was a slight kick with the mild, but the rice portion was small and we had to order an extra bowl. 2. Shrimp and Grits($13) 5/5- Cheesy, creamy and flavorful. 3. Popcorn Crawfish($14) 2/5- I liked not having to peel the crawfish, but it did not look as plumped as the ones I saw online. There was a layer of semi-larger pieces at the top and every piece below it was just fried crisps with no crawfish. The seafood used was fresh and cooked to perfection and it was the most noticeable with the shrimp because it was plump and snappy. I would definitely come back again to try other items. Overall, I had a good experience with the service, the food and the five minute wait.

Yelp
Coming from OC, I loved the pan roast from Ritters and became very sad when it closed; so I was very happy to hear that a place in SJ was serving pan roast. Giving this a four star because they said our wait would be 30 min but turned to almost 2 hours. Pan roast (5/5): I got the house special, which comes with : crab, shrimp, mussels, clam, and sausage. The rice was bit hard, but the both was very creamy and flavorful. Definitely very zesty. I didn't think it was as good as Ritters but it satisfied my pan roast cravings. Loaded Mac n cheese (3/5): This came out cold, but I think it would've tasted great if it was hot. Maybe I'll check out this place again after their grand opening sometime next year when I get my pan roast cravings

Yelp
Seafood, when done right, is extremely flavorful. All that umami was very well pronounced here. As with many seafood restaurants (especially inland), be warned that each entree here will be more than 25 dollars on average. The current available fresh oysters are by request, so the server will inform you of the available oysters. $40 for a dozen oysters was not bad (pretty average). The mussel fries had a really tasty cheese sauce, and the fries were cooked super well, which should be a requirement for any seafood restaurant that sells fish and chips. Seafood here is cooked near perfectly! The prawns in the pan roast were cooked well to the point that the meat in the tail came out very easily, and it was tender but not too chewy. The flavor of the pan roast was extremely heavy and filling, yet so tasty that I couldn't stop eating until the bowl was empty. If you conserve your sauce well, you could probably take the sauce home and make another meal for yourself. Although I don't have the budget to come here often, the portions and the deep rich flavor make each dish worth their price. I will be taking my friends and family here in the future!

Yelp
Hit up the Dive Oyster Bar on Friday evening with five friends. Had to wait an hour to get seated. Our waitress was super friendly, and gave us some great picks. We tried the house specials pan roast and roasta. Both were tasty, though kinda similar since they tasted the same Cajun sauce flavor. The Dive chowder was the real winner, super creamy and flavorful. The oysters were not on the menu. They were small, but so sweet and impressive. Overall, a solid spot for a chill seafood dinner. I'd definitely come back, as long as the wait isn't too long next time.

Sean L.

Yelp
Recently, my wife and I visited the restaurant after discovering it on social media. It turned out to be the perfect choice for satisfying my wife's craving for oysters. Even though it was only the third week of their soft opening, we were understanding and gave the restaurant some grace as they iron out the kinks in their operations. The server, although busy, tried to provide great service throughout the evening. We began with a dozen oysters that were so enjoyable that we ended up ordering 1/2 dozen. The truffle Cheetos mac and cheese and soft shell crab was delicious although both dishes could have been a bit warmer. The wings with habanero honey were amazing and has a flavorful kick, I wished they offered flats in addition to drumsticks! The truffle fries were ok. The lobster pasta super tasty but definitely could have used a touch more sauce. Unfortunately, the lobster roll was a bit disappointing with it being dry and bland. The bread was also less-than-ideal. On the positive side, the clam chowder served with it was a pleasant surprise, deviating from the typical style but super tasty. At the end we had a dessert recommended by our server - the s'mores bread pudding. It was the perfect ending to our meal, rich and delicious. Despite some minor hiccups, we are looking forward to returning to try more items from the menu.

Yelp
My family went on a Monday afternoon for lunch. About half the tables were occupied. There was a good flow of people coming in to eat while we were there. Service was great. Super friendly staff. Everyone was helpful. The place is new, so very nice and clean. Love the modern feel and open space. I can't begin to imagine the wait when it gets really busy because it's on the smaller side. Truffle fies tasted like regular fries. The truffle taste was faint to none. Clam chowder texture was great, but it was to herb-y for my liking. Shrimp and grits were okay. I like my grits smoother and creamier. Kids chicken Alfredo was also, just OK. The chicken was on the dry side. Pan roast was definitely the star. I can say I liked it much better than the one in Vegas. I actually don't even care for that one because everything we ordered was overly salty. The line gets too long to even want to try it again, but that's okay since we have a place closer to home now. I would definitely come back again. I'd bring more friends next time to order more food!

Arnel L.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday afternoon with a party of 8. It took a while to get seated, but I expected this during a soft opening. They only had 2 servers and were pretty busy. It's not a big place, so large parties beware. I really enjoyed the food. I had the House Pan Roast. It was creamy and full of flavor. It's not quite as good as Ritter's in SoCal, but definitely something I could order again. The soft shell crab was excellent. It was crispy and tasty and was a very generous portion. I didn't try the lobster roll, clam chowder, or gumbo, but others say they were very good. The s'mores were excellent. We shared a single order between a few of us. I didn't try the beignets and they didn't look that great, but the others say they weren't bad. I expect the service to be a little slow for a while until they get the hang of things, but the food came out surprisingly fast. All in all, it was a cool spot I'll definitely be trying again.

Tina H.

Yelp
The food here was pretty good! We ordered the truffle fries, raw oysters (not on the menu, but you just have to ask for them), clam & mussels, dive chowder, and cioppino. For the dive chowder and cioppino, you can adjust how spicy you want it, which I always appreciate! I would not get the cioppino again, it lacked in flavor and tasted like nothing. I would definitely get everything else, especially the dive chowder! So yummy and packed with flavor! The service was decent. We came on a Friday evening and were not seated right away although there were plenty of workers and open tables. After we sat down, our server was busy talking to her coworkers so one of the other servers had told us that we were ready and then she finally took our order. However, after that, our service wasn't too bad! I would come back to try their robusta and get the dive chowder again!

Jason Y.

Yelp
Very attentive and professional servers. For being as young as they were I commend their service. The food...Rich! What we had at least. The fully loaded clam chowder bowl and The chowder frots. Oh my they were good but unless you like super filling food I'd recommend getting one or three other not both. We also had a 1/2 dozen of the oysters that were available. Smaller place. Looks like a great lunch spot but they have entrees as well. We'll definitely give it another go.
