En route to an evening downtown checking out the Luminova event at Elitches, we decided to make a pit stop and grab a couple drinks and a bit to eat. Slater's 50/50 was that stop.
THE SPACE: Think of Slater's as an upscale sports bar, and you will most likely not be disappointed. Around the bar are numerous tvs, showing a variety of games. They even put little signs on the tvs, so you know which one to watch to catch your favorite teams. The dinning area is large and features a ton of seating options from regular booths, to large booths, and bar seating for every size group. It gives off modern, classy, industrial type vibes.
THE BREWS: Their tap list is MASSIVE! So naturally I was in beer heaven. I started my meal with a pour of Mockery Brewing's Return to Ruin, then switched gears and gave Ratio Beerworks King of Carrot a try. Yum! My husband opted for a couple different beers as well, which our friends chose the spiked strawberry limeades. There are so many drink options from nonalcoholic, to cocktails, and beer, there's bound to be something for everyone.
THE BITES: So Slater's 50/50 is known for a unique 50/50 mix of beef and pork for their burger patties. Being the Yelper that I am, I had to give it a try. So I chose the Original 50/50 burger with shmanimal fries. I like the idea, but it seemed like the outside of my burger patty was far more cooked than the inside. I don't know if the grill was up too high or what, but that was pretty disappointing. Next time I will probably stick to a normal burger. We got an order of the bacon mac and cheese balls for our group as well. They were paired with a spicy ranch, I really enjoyed those.
THE SERVICE: Our server Zack was super friendly and attentive. He checked back with us frequently to ensure we had everything we needed, and our glasses were never empty. He did a great job explaining the different menu items and answering any questions we had.
All in all, Slater's 50/50 was a solid way to kick off our winter evening downtown. I'd make my way back to sample more of their menu for sure.
