This hospital is okay. I can review it from two different perspectives, as a former employee and also as a patient. I worked at Aiken Regional for about a month in EVS. The EVS crew was great and they made sure I was okay my whole shift. However, when it came to needing the nurses for any reason, a lot of them were super rude to me or they would just stare at me like I was stupid and then completely ignore what I asked them to do for me. I don't know if the thought of me made them look down on me for being a housekeeper instead of a nurse like them, but for me to be ignored when I specifically needed them to come remove stuff for me really used to get under my skin. That being said, EVS is a great department to work for. The staff there is great and time goes by fast but it just wasn't for me. I wasn't cut out for the position personally, but it is a department I would recommend for anyone to try.
As a patient here, it's also just okay. I came in because I was having abdominal pain so bad it had me in tears and I wanted to get it checked out just in case something was wrong. I went through the ED and the lady who worked the desk right when you walk into ED was the RUDEST person I had ever met in my whole life. I wish I would have caught her name. Another thing about ED before you're actually taken to your room, there's two nurses that call you to behind the desk to get your blood pressure, weight, reason for visit etc. but it's not very private and everyone in the ED can hear how much you weigh and basically learn everything about you which I personally just feel like that's personal information and gathering stuff like that should be in a more secluded area. Maybe that's just me being self conscious about my weight, but either way I don't think anybody's weight should be broadcasted to whoever else is visiting the ED. Moving on, the nurses who took care of me at the ED were mostly good. I had to get my blood drawn so they could run some tests on me, and it took about four hours to get what I thought were my results. One of the nurses who assisted in drawing my blood the first time came in and told me she needed to draw more because my blood had clotted so they couldn't test it. My arm was still super sore from the first time I was poked so she used my other arm and that one didn't even hurt at all. My results then came back about 15-20min later. Luckily, I was okay but just the four hour waiting in between was crazy to me, but they were all nice to me and I might of annoyed them a little by talking to much, so I apologize if I did! Haha... Upon being discharged, I left the parking lot only to realize I forgot my wallet in my room and had to go back in to get it. The lady at the front looked super annoyed that she had to go grab it for me. Like my bad, I'll just leave it next time so someone can still all my information. :D
