I really hate to do this...I don't wanna be that person:/ Slice has been a place that I've been going to for years and I'm also in the service industry. They've always been accommodating and the service has always been good, including this time, our server was sweet and attentive, but since the pandemic, the quality of the food and the menu has gone downhill. This review has nothing to do with service, but ownership/management. When you order a Stromboli, you expect it to have the meat in it that has always come with. To my surprise, when my food arrived, I had a broken apart puff pastry/half cooked that was nothing but grease and cheese. Our server didn't bother to mention that the menu had changed and if you wanted the meat that USED to come in the traditional dish, you had to order it separately at $1.25 a piece which would have made my dish around $15 which would have been fine, but don't change the menu and think people are gonna know you're just serving them cheese and bread if I wanted that, I would have ordered cheesy bread they took the balsamic egg off the Cobb salad, the margarita pizza looked weird and the pesto sandwich came out after everyone else had eaten and was literally soaked in oil:/ the salad looked nice I understand trying to cut small corners, struggling with cost in this economy, and doing what you have to do to make a business profit..but at the risk of losing long time guest, at least train your servers to know what was traditionally served and what is on the menu now to ask guest also, I made concerns known at the table and didn't eat my food...the waitress offered to make a new one, but we had somewhere to be and I was so put off I didn't wanna bother. I passed it around so everyone could have a bite after I had 2..I didn't wanna be sick from grease, but we still paid for it. If there was a concern that was brought up at the table, a manager should be notified and the situation addressed. My friend paid for my food because I arranged the dinner and didn't even eat and had to go somewhere else to get food. I normally tip at least 30%, never complain, and try to write good review. We drink, eat, tip and bring other people who do the same. Unfortunately, we won't be back. It's the end of an era:/ I wish them nothing but luck and good fortune, but this experience put a big damper on a special evening. I rarely go downtown these days, and I'm sad that this is my last experience there. My heart is sad that Slice will never be what it was:(
