13 Best Places to Eat Meatballs in Nashville

"To vegans who scrolled all the way to #11 on this list, we’d like to say two things: Thank you. Also: Sorry. Nicoletto’s is a great place to go for vegan meatballs in Hillsboro Village or East Nashville. If you’re a vegetarian, top your vegan balls with pink sauce, a perfect marinara-Alfredo hybrid. If you’re a true vegan, the fine folks at Nicoletto’s will start you off with naked balls and let you build your ideal bowl from there." - Ashley Brantley

Great service and it was a wonderful night to eat out on the patio. The pizza was good. Everything was fresh especially the green pepper on the pizza. The sausage had a light flavor and was not greasy. I also liked the sauce. It had a good flavor with just a hint of sweetness. The pasta, salad and bread were all good. My only complaint was that the pizza crust seemed to bed dusted in a whole grain that was a bit too hard, very small grain was a bit concerned of chipping a tooth.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere transported us straight to Italy — warm lighting, rustic decor, and the aroma of fresh herbs in the air. The service was attentive and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. We started with the pesto chicken pizza, which was crisp and bursting with flavor, followed by chicken parmigiana with spaghetti. The homemade pasta was a standout — you could tell it was crafted with care. Whether you’re a die-hard Italian food lover or just looking for a cozy spot with real flavor, this place delivers. Highly recommend.

We wanted Italian food on our last night in Nashville and this place was close to where we were. It had just stormed so we were wet and cold and the owner was so kind as to turn off the ceiling fans so we could warm up. Our server (a teenage boy) was very polite. The food was great and the prices were less than other restaurants, which was nice. I definitely recommend eating here!

Love this Italian restaurant. We had a supreme pizza, spagetti, jalapeño poppers and some fettuccine. All were excellent. The seating area has that family friendly feeling.

If you aren’t getting a Slice of Italy on a Saturday night, then what are you doing? This place was too good to pass up. Good portions, Good food, good people. Support Local. And…as a personal favor, just to me, order smaller portions or take your leftovers with you. Who leaves a whole pizza’s worth of slices. Well… i guess if you don’t like it.

Google
Gluten free friends, the gluten free crust is pretty good. I'm sure there's cross contamination so if you are celiac it might not be for you. I had no issues. The pizza also warmed up well the next day. Good balance of garlic in the sweet pizza sauce. I loved all the basil they piled on.

Google
We were having a sweet treat at another place and asked where to go for pizza and Slice of Italy did not disappoint! We ordered on the way there, it was fast and easy, and when we arrived we were greeted warmly. The pizza smelled delicious and the taste matched! So glad we went on our last night in Nashville. Capped off our trip perfectly :)

Google
We went there from the high ratings. Only one table had patrons when we were there on a Tuesday night, that should have been a red flag. We ordered three pizzas and all agreed they were sub par. Crust had some crunch but lacked flavor. The sauce was the problem, overly sweet and no depth of flavor. Service was average. The patio area was nice.

Yelp
I was in town for work, and the student that I was visiting wanted Italian, and I gave her a list of several locations, she said that she thought she would like, so off we went. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the menu had some great options! We split garlic knots that had delicious butter and garlic For my main course I had the seafood special with red sauce and pasta, it was very tasty My "date" had shrimp Alfredo and she loved it. All around great experience! Check them out if are in the area!

Yelp
I swung by A Slice of Italy for a pickup order recently, and I have to say, it's a pretty solid spot. Upon my arrival, I first noticed the outdoor seating area, which set a nice vibe for the restaurant. As soon as I walked in, the staff introduced themselves and were quick to help, which I really appreciated! I am positive the service would have been just as good if I had decided to dine in. I ordered an XL cheese pizza (added jalapeños and onions to one half) with a large Caesar salad, and they threw in some garlic knots for free with a coupon. The pizza was tasty, classic New York style. The Caesar salad was very fresh and the garlic knots were buttery and satisfying. The portions were generous, and I ended up with plenty of leftovers, which felt like a good deal for the price (~$35). Admittedly, I felt that the pizza wasn't as tasty reheated (maybe user error!), but the salad was still on point, showing they use quality ingredients. Overall, A Slice of Italy is a spot I'd come back to. If you're craving Italian and want a decent meal without breaking the bank, give it a shot.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends for dinner and had a great time. The servers were super friendly, always smiling, and were attentive to our every need. Food was decent, not awesome. We ended up getting a few salads, a few apps, some pizzas, and some pastas. The Cesar and Greek salads were exactly what you would expect. The mozzarella sticks were perfectly cooked and the cheese pull was insane!! The garlic knots were delicious and soft (could have been a tiny bit more garlicky in my opinion), and they paired perfectly with the marinara sauce. The server brought us a complimentary basket of garlic knots after I told him I review on yelp and he just had the biggest smile. Loved him! :) As for the pizzas, we got pesto chicken and pesto veggie. They were very pesto forward (which we liked), but I did feel like they were too cheesy. Maybe that's just because I tend to enjoy a pizza that isn't overwhelmingly cheesy, and we also didn't get a red base pizza which may have been different, but the cheese was just too thick. As for pastas, we got the cheese ravioli and eggplant parm. I personally didn't try the eggplant parm but the cheese ravioli was standard and good. Overall, I did enjoy this place, but it wasn't the best Italian food. A good place to dine with some friends, though.

Yelp
Don't get confused, these is not an Italian place.... The pizza looks good but the rest of the dishes are not to the standard of Italian food.. The calamari was dry and no flavor.. The eggplant parmigiana was not good... Pasta...i can't explain.... I don't like given a bad review to these place but I love Italian food and I think it really needs to be improved in order to serve Italian dishes

Yelp
So one day of our trip we just had to relax and stay nearby our housing unit. This place was in walking distance of our Apt rental. My travel buddy does not eat pizza but was game to go along with me and hand out. Me and my pizza. Ha! I just wanted a slice but they dd not offer them at night I guess, so I got a small pizza. It was too much for just me so shared with a stranger, who was a delightful author. I ended up taking it back to the apt and had lots of leftovers. Yummy. So their individual size pizza is really a small and is pretty big. It can be shared with 2 or 3 people. The pie was actual pretty good for Ms. Picky NY pizza lady here. The people are nice. I love the covered patio that reminded me of the food truck places in Portland. Good experience all around and thank you.

Yelp
They have large porch for seating. They also have indoor seating. The staff were very helpful with suggestions and the food was amazing! The potion sizes are abundant!

Yelp
Nasty pizza. Little kids running the restaurant so the service was bad. Horrible ambience. I would never go back.

Yelp
This was a good stop for the family the aura was great the food portions were massive we came in with six of us and all left full with things to take home. great service

Kevin G.

Yelp
Cold wet night so decided to order in. I must applaud SOI for delivering a hot delicious pizza that was not a greasy mess. I almost forgot to take a pic before destroying the pie. The crust was crispy and all of the ingredients were fresh. Now I wish I would have ventured out to get it hot out of the oven.

Yelp
I've tried a few pizzas from here and they are always delicious! My favorite has been the gluten free bbq pizza! It's thin crust and very crispy and the right amount of smoky and sweet. They have a great patio area too!

Yelp
This is a very basic eating place, do not expect anything hi fi. Their presentation (of dessert) etc is good. Customer service is decent. We tried the kids spaghetti marinara which was very good, fettuccini Alfredo was decent. The vegetarian pizza base was very nice but the veggies topping kept on it did not go well with the base, I guess getting the base pizza (like cheese etc) would be good. Tiramisu was good and presented well. In starters caprese salad was good, japapeno toppers was decent. Overall decent lunch.

Yelp
A fantastic casual Italian spot near Vanderbilt! It's a family business with a lot of the items on the menu being homemade. The service is super friendly and welcoming. We got the baked ziti (entree) and garlic knots (appetizer) for two as we weren't feeling too hungry, and the portion sizes were generous and we left very satisfied. Loved the garlic sauce under the garlic knots, and the tomato sauce tasted very fresh throughout each dish. Everything is very reasonably priced. Will be back!

Yelp
This place needs to stay in Hillsboro. The ingredients are top tier. The service amazing. Quick for a nice a midnight order if you know what I'm saying. Only a 4/5 because of price but that's 2024. Will be back for sure.

Bellal K.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice with the lighting adding a touch, and such a great vibe, the chef and staff were very accommodating as we had a very large group and all the food came at a timely manner and it was really good. Highly recommend

Yelp
After reading the positive reviews and getting a mailer, we were very excited to try a Slice of Italy. We also loved that they delivered to Green Hills. For our family dinner, we ordered 3 pizzas, a calzone and two salads - a greek salad and a chicken caesar. We were disappointed with everything but especially the salads. One of the salads had a fly in it and the other the chicken was inedible - chewy and filmy. I cannot express how disappointed with the food we were. I called the restaurant and spoke with the person on duty and he offered to send new salads but considering we were done and they were not appetizing, I declined. I asked for my money back and was told that the manager would call me back. However, I have yet to hear from the manager.

Yelp
This is an excellent Italian restaurant. The pastas are authentic and best flavors. The owners provide a great service! Bring your own wine to enjoy fully.

Yelp
*TLDR: Pizza joint doesn't wanna sell pizza When they first opened a couple weeks ago the customer service was on point. As a local I confidently brought my family today and the same waiter must have had a bad day because he was in a terrible mood and made sure we knew it. We ordered a pizza and salad which should be an easy order for "slice of italy" but when we ordered they did not seem happy to serve us.. The ambiance is good but the whole family had a miserable look and it showed in the service sadly ruining the vibes of what could be an amazing establishment. Left feeling disappointed like I upset them for bringing them business to a new contender in a competitive restaurant scene. At least they apologized as we left for knowingly treating us bad for the entirety of the visit. I will get pizza elsewhere and going forward will take my family to different restaurants in the area....

Yelp
The pizza was freshly made in front of us and delicious!! Family owned and ran, so sweet! Service was great and they were attentive. Inside is a little small but they also have an enclosed patio area! I ate the pizza way too fast to even take a picture. We will come back next time we are in Nashville.

Yelp
Food is good. Service is excellent. The owner is very nice and helpful. He turned heat on for us when we were cold.

Yelp
OMG, this has to be the best Italian Restaurant in town. Yes, I have been to Maggianos, yes I have been to Carrabas and many of the pizza joints. This small place beats them hands down. Everything is fresh, and made in house. This is simply the best Italian food. It tastes like you are eating at a friend's house in Rome. The homemade sauces are to die for. If you don't try this food you will be very sorry. I had the linguine with red clam sauce. best in town. We also had the fried to perfection calamari. My wife loved the lasagna with meat sauce and she is a lasagna snob. We finished with lemoncello cake and a Belgian chocolate mousse. Heavenly.

Peter T.

Yelp
Food was great and the service was equally fantastic. Was like a homemade Italian meal from Grandma. Can't wait to come back!

Juan M.

Yelp
Chicken parm was delicious. I Would recommend them. The services was great. My daughter liked her egg plant parm.

Yelp
Excellent quality food. Pasta sauces are very flavorful and the pizza toppings were very fresh.

Yelp
Great food and service. The homemade marinara sauce was excellent and portions are large! It is very rare that my entire family likes what they ordered, but no complaints from anyone. Will definitely be back!!

Sarah S.

Yelp
A little late on the photo, but this is their ice cream in their fried cheesecake. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had amazing service, friendly people great atmosphere beyond phenomenal food would recommend to any buddy.

Yelp
hidden gem, best way to describe this place, safe and calm environment , great staff and very well kept up with. food was fresh and they didn't hold back on the portions. my wife and i were looking for a place to eat outside of broadway area and did we score with this newly opened italian dive. #hiddengem definitely will come again. 1-13-2024

Yelp
I just gotta say, this place is a hidden treasure. I've been here twice - both were great experiences. It's a family owned business, and you can tell how much they care about it! They're so sweet & very knowledgeable about their food. One of the owners even informed us of the most optimal way to enjoy the tiramisu. You can tell they're excited to serve their homemade food. We ordered the garlic knots, some pizza, and tiramisu...it was absolutely delicious. The cozy ambiance + the kind & passionate employees + delicious food = treasure on Belcourt.

Malcolm B.

Yelp
We just had dinner here last night. The food was delicious, service was friendly and fast, and prices were great for the portion sizes. We'll definitely be back!

Eman B.

Yelp
Fresh, personalized pizza and excellent service with a beautiful porch - doesn't get better than this. The Greek salad has a delicious, zesty dressing. My kids and I loved the homemade lasagna. Definitely coming back.

Anthony V.

Yelp
Sat on the patio and the ambience was amazing. Crust, sauce, and topping were authentic, will definitely come back! Thanks Bek for the service.

Kai B.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick lunch and was met with the friendliest staff. I ordered the sausage and pepper pasta with garlic bread. The food was fast, delicious, and affordable. The ambiance was perfect and I will definitely be back. I love this new gem in Hillsboro!

Alex R.

Yelp
Great Caeser salad and cheese ravioli. Great service, vibes, and music on the patio. Would recommend.

Connor M.

Yelp
After having eaten hear enough times the staff know me by name and exactly what I want as soon as I walk in is awesome, this is one of my favorite places near by and the family makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The food remarkable as well.

Chris C.

Yelp
Great pizza and Italian food. Nice heated outdoor patio. Awesome service. Definitely a new go to spot for a casual dinner in Hillsboro village.

Annie B.

Yelp
The service was great, and the food was even better! Absolutely loved it, and we'll definitely be back. Go for the garlic knots!

Larry E.

Yelp
Just stopped in for a couple of slices. Very tasty and great crust. Will be going back soon for a full meal. Good Luck

Jessica G.

Yelp
Wonderful food, service, and ambiance! We had the Garlic bread, cheese pizza, baked ziti with meat sauce and the Alfredo pasta with chicken shrimp and mushrooms all very very good!

Cooper E.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing service and even better environment. Genuinely the definition of a hidden gem restaurant.

Alec H.

Yelp
Great place to pick up a sub! The interior is warm and inviting, the service was quick, and the food was great. You can tell they put real work into their dishes and use fresh ingredients.

Michael R.

Yelp
Delicious ziti pasta with marinara sauce, reasonably priced and quickly served. The caprese salad was good, but could have a more generous portion for its price. Complimentary garlic bread with lunch, hooray! Perfect for dipping in both the salad and pasta. When the deck is ready (very soon, I was told by the warmly welcoming proprietor), Taste of Italy should be the best place in Nashville to hang out and have pizza or pasta or subs, right across the street from the Belcourt Theatre.

Marcie B.

Yelp
So happy to have a GOOD Italian restaurant in the neighborhood! We had a supreme pizza, crust was delicious, and all fresh toppings. Spaghetti and meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo, and ziti florentine. All were delicious The Ziti Florentine is one of the best pasta dishes I've had in Nashville. The service was great, and the porch was just a really nice place to have dinner. Welcome to the neighborhood! We will be back!

Shaelyn C.

Yelp
this was our first time coming here and everything was absolutely amazing. everyone working was so nice and welcoming and the food was just as great! we got the garlic knots, mozz sticks and a cheese pizza and it was all hot and fresh. the vibe sitting out on the covered patio area was really nice and relaxing and we will def be coming back here to support this new family-owned business!
