Montreal’s New Restaurants, Bars, and Cafés: 2019 Edition | Eater Montreal

Slice and Soda Opens With New York Style Pizza in Old Montreal | Eater Montreal

"It's one more spot in Old Montreal for big New York–style pizza by the slice, taking over the former Ambre boutique on St-Paul West. The counter-service menu sticks to two main offerings: pizzas—mostly classic New York-style options like cheese, pepperoni, prosciutto, veggie, and calabrese, plus a smoked-meat pie as a nod to Montreal—available by the slice (most slices about $5) or as broad full pies (most about $30). The “soda” part of the name means house-made sodas rather than Coke or Pepsi, with eight flavors including passionfruit, vanilla, grapefruit-lime (“pamplemousse sour”) and yuzu-rhubarb. The small menu is rounded out with a Caesar salad and a Nutella roll for dessert, and the restaurant is open at 201 St-Paul West from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday to Saturday." - Tim Forster

Google
Overall good vibe and good pizza. I was here 3 years ago and the quality has not changed. Fun atmosphere and easy in and out. Pizza dough is very airy and light, toppings are fresh. You can add chili flakes, olive oil and Parmesan if you like. Solid place!

My recent visit to Slice + Soda in Montreal was an absolute delight, hitting all the right notes for a casual yet incredibly satisfying pizza experience. We opted for their vegetarian and classic Margherita pizzas, and both were outstanding. From the first bite, it was clear that Slice + Soda understands good pizza. The base on both pies was perfectly crispy – exactly how I like it – providing a fantastic textural contrast to the flavorful toppings. The quality of ingredients shone through, making each slice a true pleasure. Whether you're a veggie lover or a purist, you won't be disappointed. Beyond the delicious food, the "vibe inside" is genuinely cool. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable, with an atmosphere that's laid-back yet stylish. It's perfect for a casual meal with friends or a relaxed date night. And for those who appreciate the little things, even the pop was perfectly chilled – a small detail that speaks to their attention to ensuring a great customer experience. If you're in Montreal and craving fantastic pizza with a great atmosphere, Slice + Soda is an absolute must-try. You'll leave happy, full, and already planning your next visit.

Google
Slice + Soda is an absolute gem and easily serves the best pizza slice I’ve had in a long time. From the moment you walk in, the vibe of the place draws you in — it’s small, cozy, and full of character. What makes it even better is the open kitchen concept. Watching the staff handcraft the pizzas right in front of you adds a level of authenticity and excitement to the experience. The slices are massive, fresh, and packed with flavor. The crust is perfectly crisp yet chewy, and the toppings are high-quality and generously loaded. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy a casual meal, Slice + Soda delivers on both taste and experience. The space might be compact, but that just adds to its charm. It feels personal, welcoming, and relaxed — like your favorite neighborhood spot. It’s perfect for a solo visit, a casual date, or a late-night craving. If you’re a pizza lover, this place is a must-visit. The quality, the vibe, and the overall experience make it a standout. Slice + Soda isn’t just a pizza spot — it’s a feel-good place that gets everything right. Highly recommended.

Google
Loved the crust! The slice is huge! The service is also good. The only missing thing is the tasty - i was expenting it to be more rich in flavour. Also had diet coke. Not many seating places.

Marie-Soleil C.

Google
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Prices are really reasonable and the slices are big. I tried the Caprese and the Margherita. The Caprese was generous and flavorful, while the Margherita felt a bit too minimal, more like sauce with just a touch of cheese. Overall, tasty pizza and worth coming back for, just depends on the slice you pick.

Google
Small, cozy, and full of memories. The taste is good, and both the price and portion sizes are reasonable. However, it gets crowded on weekends, with limited seating inside. The line moves slowly due to a lack of staff, and the salad—though listed on the menu—is often unavailable.

Google
Pizza was good but it’s not the best I’ve tried. I like the price (I spent about 11$ for pizza and coke) and design of this place. So atmospheric and nice. This is the coolest pizzeria in Montreal

Google
Was in the old port after a nice afternoon. It was getting late and me and my wife had a craving for a slice of pizza for takeout, it was approaching 21h40...wasn't sure if we would fine a place on our walk...but let me tell you we found THE best place for pizza, big generous slice excellent service did not wait that long even with a long waiting line. Highly recommend this place. Keep up the good work.

Yelp
Its decent pizza and not thr best. They have a good special for a slice and salad. One slice is fairly big so its almost two small slices.

Yelp
Slice & Soda is a Montreal based franchised restaurant serving New York style pizza and soda. Slice & Soda serves eighth kinds of pizzas (cheese, margarita, pepperoni, meat lovers, vegetarian, calabrese, BBQ chicken and prosciutto). Caesar salad, gnocchis, cookies and fries are also available. Extra toppings are available as well, including mushrooms, onions, mozzarella cheese, bocconcini, olives, peppers, ham and pepperoni). Slice & Soda sells by the slice (one of many pizzerias where pies are sold by-the-slice), but combinations are available too (duo (a slice, salad or fries), trio (a slice, salad or fries and a sofa) and family pack (a pizza, a large salad, 4 sodas and cookies). The interior design is quite cool and different. The location I visited was in Old Montreal, and had a big table in the middle of the dining area, and a number of smaller tables. The walls are covered with pictures and posters; there is even an arcade game and a motorcycle on display!!! A section of the store is dedicated to products available for buying (chips, drinks, tomato sauce, etc). The restaurant was definitely filled with lots of folks coming to have a bite to eat, so the opportunity to meet people is there for sure!! We had ordered two pepperoni and a cheese slices - the slices are New York style, so the pizzas are thin crust and massive slices. The pizzas were sooooo good, well made and beautifully flavoured. The staff is very friendly, professional and know their products. There are many locations around Montreal, so plenty of places to go and eat good pizza.

Yelp
Pizza was ok, the sauce is acidity. The fries were spicy and they didn't let us know that they were. Our kids couldn't eat it. In addition, the salad was drowning in mayo. Isn't worth it... way too expensive.
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to stop in for a late night snack and if you order by the slice, THEY ARE HUGE. Pretty good slice! I like a good amount of tomato sauce, cheese was tasty, and solid pepperoni. Service was quick, staff was nice, and was easy at the time to get a seat

Steve R.

Yelp
I'm the guy who pointed tourist and friends to my favorite pizza in town - I ate here 3 to 4 times every week! For the past month or so - like so many places - quality has dropped dramatically. At first, I thought, maybe it's a new cook or they are having a bad day. Nope! Repeatedly now the pies are either overcooked or soggy. Toppings have changed - the cheese isn't the same - cheaper. And portions are no way what they used to be. Sad & Soda - or - Shit & Soda. Keep your slices - you might as well call yourselves Dominos or Pizza Hut. Sucks!

Yelp
Ranged from 5-6.5 CAD for a huge slice and I did enjoy. Great location Soda and some pastries available. Cool decor, thee was a whole motorcycle in the window
google avatar

Rick Vincent C.

Yelp
Pizza was nice and thin, crispy and not floppy at all. Tasted so good. I ordered the prosciutto pizza and was not disappointed. I also added the Cesar salad which was a nice touch to balance out the meal. Not super heavy and was the perfect mid day snack before having dinner.

Yelp
Walked in on a cold winter night in February and ordered a full carne pie to go. Only waited a few minutes and was served by a lovely young woman at the cash register. The box was huge, the pizza was delicious, and just as good for lunch the next day. Totally cool spot, great pizza, friendly staff!
google avatar

Jesika H.

Yelp
Their pizza slices are gigantic, thin and pipping hot! I was able to fold and walk around eating it!! Their cookies looked noteworthy!!! More than enough tables to eat and they always warm up your slice of pizza. Very funky cool vibe inside.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday for lunch around 12:30. We got lucky because as we got there, there was only a few people in front of us and not that many people dining inside. I had come here with my husband and 2 young children and the restaurant was large enough where we were able to fit our double stroller and all able to sit at the middle table. The value for a slice of pizza under $6 and you get a huge slice. However you can also get combos with a side, and a drink as well. I opted for 2 combos with a side of Caesar salad and another with the fries. The Caesar salad was amazing and the fries hot, though I could tell they were from frozen. We ordered the cheese pizza and the carnivore pizza and both my toddlers did not want to share with the parents so we had to sneak bites. We spent under $25 for the 4 of us which is pretty good value to feed a family of 4. Overall will definitely visit again

Yelp
Got a couple of slices to go at this very cute place in the heart of Montreal. And yum! The slices were big, hearty, and the flavor was on point! I also loved how chewy and yet crispy the crusts were! Staff was also friendly! The inside decor was so cute! Would definitely come back if in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a great bang for your buck! The pizza slices are legit as big as your head and for $5CAD you will not find a better deal in all of Canada. The pizza was also very delicious the only thing that I would say knocked it out of the park from being 5 stars is that is was a bit cold. Next time I come back I would definitely ask for it to be heated extra long! It's crazy though for it to be a bit cold it was still very delicious. This place also sells artisanal sodas, I didn't try any so I can comment on it but they looked good.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Upon arrival, I was taken back to the 90s era bc of the pastime-themed interior which included dark wood, pinball machine, motorcycle, etc... What caught our eyes was their neon sign so we decided to stop by and we tried their sodas which were super light and bubbly. They lacked in flavour though. Will give the pizzas a try next time.

Yelp
Slice + Soda offers various pizzas by the slice with several soda options that they make in-house. The pizza was a good size and tasted fresh. This is one of the few places you can grab a NYC slice in the Montreal area. The ambience is also modern with plenty of seating. Overall, if you're looking for a quick slice while touring the area, definitely check them out!
google avatar

Brad S.

Yelp
I was in old Montreal, taking a walk, I've heard about this place, and thought I might as well check it out! With several different kinds of pizza, prices are all around $5.50 a slice or a full pizza is $34.50. The slice was big crisp and quite tasty. Very thin New York style pizza. I would've liked if my slice was a little bit fresher, but that could be what happens when you grab a slice of pizza around 4:15 in the afternoon. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, for a small restaurant as it had Plenty of seating. I'll be back at some point.

Yelp
Not bad. Slices are HUGE. Kids thought the pizza was delicious. Clean. Trendy. Lots of options. Not much more to say

Yelp
Loved the vibe, pizza was very good. Line takes a while but honestly It is really good to stop by for a small bite to eat. Price was reasonable too.

Yelp
I'm going to keep this one short and sweet. We order a Cheese slice and a Prosciutto slice, along with three sodas (Bae, Pina Colada, and Watermelon Mint). For the cheese slice the crust too thin, cheese wasn't too bad but needed a little bit more on there, and the tomato sauce just wasn't it. Overall, the group gave it a 3/5. We enjoyed the Prosciutto much more. The meat gave it more balance flavor, so 3.5/5. The soda wqs fresh made, light and refreshing, however not very carbonated 4/5.
google avatar

Matt A.

Yelp
We usually stay away from chains but we walked in @sliceandsoda wanting a slice of pizza (even though we had JUST had some) and now we feel we might've had unfair preconceived notions. The sheer size of a single slice alone is impressive enough to warrant this post but we also very much enjoyed the scrumptious preparation of the type of pizza everyone can enjoy. Simple, direct, satisfying, delicious. (We did not have a soda.)
google avatar

Garen A.

Yelp
I admit I do like the name and the ambiance more than the food. Spot is really cool... has kinda it's own identity which is refreshing. Pizza options are fairly limited and you can basically get what they have there at the moment. We shared three slices. The 4 cheese was actually really good because...well... SO MUCH CHEESE! Pepperoni was a bit plain Jane for me (apologies to anyone named Jane reading this - you are plain... but this pizza was). There was also another that had tomatoes and basil on it that was pretty good. I like the crust but I think I enjoy my pizza crust a bit thicker. Overall not a bad spot, but will not blow your pizza loving mind. Stay Cheerful ;)
google avatar

Esteban Y.

Yelp
It's not a bad pizza but I felt it was lacking cheese. But it was a huge pizza (did enjoy it the next day as a cold pizza).
google avatar

Nathan G.

Yelp
Great pizza! Friendly staff. Loved it. Walked in bought a cheese pizza which was huge to say the least and was also so tasty.
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
After driving around Montreal today I decided I'd stop in and grab a bite at the first place I saw and I happened to walk into slice and soda now I've seen people walk out of here with giant sized pizza boxes and since I have a giant sized appetite I'm all in I ended up getting a slice of the prosciutto pizza a salted Carmel cookie and gnocchi. The slice of pizza was bigger then my face and was delicious no skimping on topping or cheese. The gnocchi was warm and tasty and had plenty of basil in the sauce which gave great flavour. The cookie was tasty but since it wasn't warm it was a little hard, but had I had some self control and gotten to a microwave I'm sure it would have slapped. With a great price and giant slice add this on your bucket list of places to eat!
google avatar

Yelp
Not too many take out options in the area, but this is a great one. Was just strolling around for 30 minutes looking for something to take back to the hotel, and tbh I was looking for my brother too. Found pizza, not him. Anyway I got two slices, which anywhere else in the world would be 4 slices. Huge portions. Veggie slices, super good, lots of fresh veg, not dumped over with cheese. Hit the spot. Someone gave them 2 stars for soda which seems odd, I know it's call +soda, but like, have the pizza before you review a pizza place. Like going to ben and Jerry's and giving them 2 stars for the water cups.
google avatar

Y S.

Yelp
My kiddos loved the cheese pizza and side Caesar salad. The slices were really huge actually (easily bigger than their heads lol!)
google avatar

Sheryl L.

Yelp
I happen to walk by this place and the neon sign "slice and soda" caught my eye. I walked in and I loved everything about this place. Walking through the doors you're transported to the 90s era with the dark wood, old picture frames and pinball machine. I'm a meat lover so my cravings were driven straight to the prosciutto pizza. For drinks I asked the women at the register for suggestions on the ost popular soda. The women suggested the grapefruit for more of a sour taste or the apricot for if I wanted something sweeter. The prosciutto pizza cost 5$ for 1 slice and 4$ for the grapefruit soda. The pizza slice was HUGE and delicious! I love nothing more than a place that doesn't skimp out on the toppings! The pizza is thin crust with a lot cheese prosciutto slices, cheery tomatoes and spinach cooked in a wood burning oven. The grapefruit soda wasn't too sour just enough to make your mouth pucker and it went perfectly with the pizza. I enjoyed the pizza so much that i ordered a whole pizza to go (30$). When you order a whole pizza you can have half and half. I took the Carnivore and the prosciutto to go. (Mind you the box to go is INSANELY huge to carry). I'm 5'1 and I was carrying a insanely huge box of pizza everyone was looking at me haha! I do think 30$ for a thin crust pizza but the taste is there! One thing you guys need to fix GET YOURSELVES A BATHROOM FOR CUSTOMERS TO USE PLEASE!!!

Yelp
$5 NY pizza and homemade gnocchi... can't go wrong. Really cool place in heart of old port. Simple, quality food that I will for sure return to. Perfect to grab & go and enjoy the beautiful scenery at old port. We need more places like this!

Yelp
While Montréal doesn't offer gluttonous amounts pizza options in every block, Slice+Soda came through...in a cool and almost eye-opening sort of way not far from our hotel in Rue Saint-Paul. Don't be fooled by Slice+Soda's mish-mash style with a Beastie Boys mural on one wall, a motorcycle of some sort by the window and a life-size Santa that spooked the hell outta me- this place does seriously good pizza- slightly different, but for Montréal......it's good. That said, the tomato sauce was simple and free of seasonings exactly how I like it and the crust was puffy with a slight chew and crunch. Even the pepperoni and regular slices hubs ordered for himself- the cheese on it, seemed fine and wasn't drenched with it. Instead of me outright asking for a 'Vegan' slice, I asked for 'no cheese'- in hopes they understand that part better. So I tried my luck and asked the owner(?) and the manager(?) for a slice with...'no cheese'. Between talking about whether they should/shouldn't make a 'no cheese' slice amongst themselves, he asked me how many and I said two. And in case you were wondering about the menu- we went in with blinders and decided on what they're named for- so find out if there's anything else to eat as a meal other than pizza. Despite Slice+Soda's "NYC" vibe, the Music was awesome with a 'Chill'-esque playlist. Price? CAD$26 (less- if you do American conversion). But think about it...all 4 of our large slices, super fresh veggies on my 2 and our 2 sodas- was good. One point to mention though- a couple came in and asked someone else who wasn't initially there when we first ordered- if they make 'Vegan' slices and the guy behind the counter said "no". But a few things ran through my head: (1) does this place not know what 'Vegan' is? (2) does this place understand better what 'no cheese' mean? (3) or does Montréal have not gotten on the Vegan bandwagon??? I almost felt bad for the couple who left- since here I am- eating my "no cheese" slices. However, hubs corrected this last guy and told him I had 2 "Vegan" slices. The guy seemed a bit dazed and somehow made me realize they don't know what 'Vegan' is. Aside from this major hiccup and this guy- the initial folks we placed our order with were particularly friendly and made it even more of a draw. This place is new so be prepared to queue once Slice+Soda gets popping. Is it a pizza connection? I think it was...I think you guys need to pick up a thing or two about what "Vegan" is. But other than that...this place is a very nice addition to the pomp and circumstance Rue Saint-Paul O. strip.

Yelp
Had to go downtown for errands and after the recommencions of sis and bro in law we were so hyped to try this place! Service is fast, breezy, and friendly. We paid for two slices, the pepperoni and Calabrese, they heated them up, paid, and out we were to find a quiet outdoor spot to savor these New York style slices. I love place that sell by slice but this will definitely be a bit pricier at $5.99 per slice. Portions are generous and you do feel full after a slice or two. So... the not so great is maybe because it wasn't warmed up enough, by the time we walked a block and a half to eat, pizzas were near cold. So, it unfortunately took away from the taste and experience. Pepperoni was really good for flavor; peppery, a bit spicy, great covering of pepp and cheese and sauce all around. I can't fault it, it's a great slice! But.. somehow still not very exciting to us. Same with calabrese that was comforting and yummy (spicy always good in our books), but somehow still just tasted ok. Crust is nice and crisp with great bend to eat ny style (fold in half). I've always associated a NY pizza being good because in part it was so hot it darn near burns the roof of your mouth, so maybe that's just me. Those are perfect for eating on street corners of cold ny winters because they doubly act as hand warmers and belly comforters. We'll try to come back hopefully when it opens fully again and we look forward to trying them at their best! In the meantime we hope they do well and keep classing up that part of downtown!

Yelp
Okay the slice of Pizza is so huge, I LOVE IT! It's so delicious, the dough is perfect, well done, cripsy a bit! The place is nice and clean! I'll eat here again this is for sure!

Yelp
My favorite kinda pizza joint! Its got that hole-in the wall feel but super clean and retro on the inside. They make a solid slice from the all meat to the margarita (which is what i enjoyed the most). Came here on vacation while craving a quick bite and ended up ordering 3 different slices and 2 of their italian style sodas (bae is by far the best). staff are super friendly and will make great recommendations. did i mention the pinball machine? also fun to play (don't forget to wipe it down!)
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly pretty good for the price. Got the Calabrese and was pleasantly satisfied.

Yelp

Yelp
Excellent New York Style pizza. Uncomplicated slices that are incredibly flavourful and satisfying. Quick and friendly service situated in a small, pastime-themed interior (motorbike, pinball machine, etc).
google avatar

Xue L.

Yelp
Delicious new york style pizza and soda. I tried the carnivore and the vegetarian pizza. The carnivore had a lot of meat and was very flavorful. The veggie one was good but a bit too salty. I took the combo with a creamy caesar salad and the passion soda which tasted great.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered Slice and Soda during Covid confinement, so it was delivered to me and by the time it got to me, it was already cold (by no fault of the restaurant). The thin crust was delightfully topped with pepperoni and cheese. The dough was chewy and the pizza was greasy enough to be fulfilled, but not too greasy to feel gross. The pizza was salted perfectly. Overall a satisfyingly good pizza. I'm excited for the day when I can go and enjoy the joint's decor, as the other reviews seem to rave about it.
google avatar

Camille R.

Yelp
Great pizza. All kinds were good. My favorite was the spicy salami ! Good for a quick bite. Slices are pretty big and decent prices. 5$ for a big slice.
google avatar

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
My new go to pizza place! Currently we pick up from la New Yorkaise a lot and this pizza is a bit similar in the sense that they are both New York style pizzas. Both are amazing! And the pizzas are huge!!! One slice and a half was enough for me. We tried the prosciutto pizza and it was delicious! I love prosciutto and there was so much of it! They didn't cheap out. I will definitely try out their other pizzas! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I finally tried this place this weekend, after all the great reviews I was curious to try it for myself. This place is pickup/takeout (not sit down) and they do offer delivery through door dash. Great location in the heart of the old port and a good option for a quick bite. I had their apricot soda and a slice of pepperoni and cheese pizza. I'm not usually a soda drinker but their apricot soda was good not too sweet and fun flavour. The pizza was decent, really nice thin tasty dough but I wasn't blown away by the flavour, the cheese wasn't super tasty and the pepperoni was standard. It wasn't bad by any means and not too greasy which was nice , their sauce was tasty and I would be curious to maybe try a different slice next time instead. I found it was a touch overpriced but prices weren't over the top either especially considering the prices of other restaurants in that area. Service was good and fast as well and the location was super clean. I wouldn't discourage anyone from giving this place a try , grab and slice and eat it in the park by the water for a nice lunch in the old port on a summer day.

Brianna P.

Yelp
Tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful and the service was quick. I got the bbq chicken pizza and the grapefruit soda. Both were very yummy. Seating inside was right next to the window which we enjoyed for people watching and just enjoying the view. Would definitely visit again!

Andrew M.

Yelp
It's pretty good New York style pizza. The Old Montreal location is better than other locations. If your hungry and need a pizza fix in the form of a slice. This place will do the trick.

John B.

Yelp
Slices are large and quality is good but staff is unfriendly and slow. Went with a few friends and those who did not tip did not get their food warmed. Tips should be optional especially without service. Entitled employees.
google avatar

Michel P.

Yelp
Great pizza and huge slices! Most of the time I order the duo with the ceasar salad that's also surprisingly good and generous. I work in the old port and I go there about once a week.
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
Another great find for a slice of New York style pizza. I strolled in here while walking around Old Montreal. I was hoping for a slice of pepperoni pizza, but the people in front of me took the last slice. Oh well! So I went for a slice of boconccini and basil. Really good thin crust, fresh, and tasty. And while I was ordering, they had a sign showing they sell gnocchi too. Couldn't resist, and I'm glad I didn't! Don't know if it'll part of their permanent menu, but I highly recommend it while they have it.

Maria s.

Yelp
Tried this place after reading positive reviews and it's close proximity to my hotel. I'm from Chicago and know good pizza. This is not it. I can honestly say it's the worst pizza I've ever received from a restaurant. The cheese and sauce were just off. I'm sure they use cheap ingredients. It has a following bc it's cheap and fast. But it's terrible. I ordered the cheese and I couldn't eat it. I'd get better pizza from a school cafeteria. Seriously. If you know quality pie do not go here. Maybe this is considered good by Montreal standards but it's BAD by Chicago. Two thumbs way down!

B B.

Yelp
This pizza is sub par. The dough is way to thin and burnt and the cheese isn't even cooked or burnt, it's one or the other. Additionally it's way over priced. This places claim to fame is it's atmosphere but the hipster pizza needs allot of work.
google avatar

Crewe D.

Yelp
If you are looking for a quick bite in the old port, it is really your only option! Inexpensive and has a bunch of Italian groceries if you are looking for something a little different to eat on the side.
google avatar

Igor K.

Yelp
The pizza there is awesome. It's thin crust and reminds me of NYC pizza. However the service sucks. Asked the guy a question and his answers and remarks were awful. Needs a class in customer service

GrubbinWithGes M.

Yelp
If only this place was closer to me because the pizza will definitely fill that craving. The ambience going into this resto was fun 90s rendition with old school Missy playing on tv alongside a pinball machine and an incredible mural. My eyes directly went to the cook in the back who you can see making the pizza himself and I love that. I had the Calabrese slice (and it's a VERY generous slice) because I do like a spicy salami and it did not disappoint. I tried their infamous apricot soda and it was a definite hit. I plan on going back 100% Only reason for my 4 stars is that I wish they had better seating arrangements (it's small and the center of the resto is 1 big Table to share with others), however, I do get the concept of getting a slice and walking out.
