LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Former Dodger Adrián González might no longer be playing first base, but El Titán is staying busy with his new pizza shop that just opened in West LA. Slizeria (pronounced slice-eria) is serving pies by the slices with toppings such as teriyaki chicken, jalapeño poppers, and buffalo chicken. Vegan, gluten-free, and cauliflower crusts are available, and right now they’re offering a $10 combo with two slices and a drink, which sounds like a solid deal." - cathy park

The Baseline: For a fast casual pizza place the pizza ingredients must be quality, the dough must be of a good elasticity/crispness, and the cook of the pizza must have merged all the ingredients together to make a the pizza pie tasty. Food: It is a good solid slice of pizza and it is good. It can get better once they get past their opening stages but the $10 two slices and a drink deal makes it a star on Sawtelle Blvd. Pizza- the dough isn’t my favorite and I want it a little less, sauce is a good tomato sauce that compliments the dough, and the toppings were very meaty and not sparse. Overall I was very happy with my order. Service: Good service from order to register as well as the clean up keeping the restaurant clean. Ambiance: It is a nice pizza joint with good seating and layout. Clean and new in a nice area.

Google
New place that opened up in Sawtelle. Only got the cheese and pepperoni slices but would definitely come back for some of the other ones. Pretty good flavor and a little more weight than a regular NY slice. Easy for a nice lunch if you’re in the area.

The pizza was really good! It was it was a solid spot for a quick bite. I was happy the whole pizza is freshly baked

Google
As a local, we decided to stop by Slizeria — and I’m so glad we did! We tried the jalapeño popper and *wow*... absolutely AMAZING. Perfectly crispy with just the right amount of heat. The customer service was just as impressive — super friendly and welcoming. To top it all off, I grabbed one of their freshly baked macadamia cookies, and it was the perfect sweet ending to my visit. Slizeria definitely earned a spot on my favorites list. Can’t wait to come back !

Google
Lovely staff. Honestly. But pizza wise, very doughy. Lacks toppings. If you crave pizza when you are within like 20ft, sure why not. Other wise plenty of things to eat on sawtelle. Again, lovely staff.

Google
Really delicious pizza with fast and friendly service. Our favorite place to go after soccer practice. Feels like “going out” with fast food ease but without restaurant price.

Google
This might be my new favorite pizza spot in the neighborhood! Service was great & I’m excited to go back and try more flavors. The sauce on the bbq chicken was fantastic

Google
If you're looking for an authentic, great tasting, "NY slice"........ this is NOT the place! However; if you're into an imitation, OK tasting slice of pizza, (& love the Dodgers) definitely check this place out. The prices aren't bad, & to most people.... this pizza is going to be good. Definitely better than a pizza hut or domino's.

Yelp
With my return to office life, I wanted to see what food options were around that weren't the many ramen/asian restaurants that dominate Sawtelle. When I saw there was a pizza by the slice around the corner, I knew I had to check it out. And I'm so glad I did. When I walked in, I immediately was greeted by a very friendly employee. When I mentioned it was my first visit, he offered some tips/suggestions and then happily took my order. I opted for a full pizza which was made to order so the pizza took a little bit to come out, but when it did it was piping hot and delicious. The store itself is clean and inviting. I would imagine when it gets busy it could get crowded with the limited seating and loud, but at my visit it was nothing but peaceful. It was just a very nice environment that made me second guess my decision to get my food to go. I'll definitely return for a full dine in experience. In all, I had a great experience and enjoyed every bite of my pizza. I genuinely look forward to my next lunchtime visit where I plan on trying one of their premade slices.

Yelp
Calling all LA pizza lovers: you'll want a PIZZA this pie! Finally got to check out one of the newest pizzerias in West LA, @slizeriapizza ! Owned by former Dodger Adrian Gonzalez, this hidden gem in Sawtelle features an extensive menu of truly handcrafted pizzas, with classics (such as Hawaiian, Cheese, Pepperoni) and innovative flavors such as my favorite Slizeria Supreme and Meaty Greedy. The quality of their pizzas is truly unbeatable - they toss and stretch the pizza dough themselves, and use fresh, high quality ingredients such as authentic Spanish smoked ham to meticulously craft every pizza fresh to order. Service was also very kind and friendly, with the workers being genuinely providing some of the BEST hospitality I've had at a restaurant especially for such a casual joint, and I really appreciated how they took so much care to check in on all their customers. Definitely check out this hidden gem for well-made, high quality hand-crafted pizzas and support a small, super kind local business if you're in the West LA area! Featured here: Slizeria supreme meaty greedy Hawaiian teriyaki chicken jalapeño popper Caesar salad white chocolate macadamia cookie

Yelp
We were greeted by a super friendly employee, and a really clean and beautiful restaurant. We ordered a small pepperoni pizza and it came very fresh and hot. The personal size small pizza didn't come the same style as the slices, the crust is much thicker but that might be because it's a smaller version - regardless it was super yummy! I'm happy to have good, decently priced pizza on sawtelle.

Yelp
I might not be able to fully communicate how AWFUL this pizza is, but I'll try. Took a bit of the Margherita, it was all garlic, bland cheese, barely any tomato, floppy, flavorless crust. Took a bite of the cheese, and it was just a glob of cheese stuck to soggy, greasy dough. Oh boy, was this bad, to the point of being inedible. This is Sawtelle, you can't come with food so nasty when every other place is knocking out quality food with flavor. Too bad, would've been nice to have a pizza place on the strip.

Yelp
Great place to grab a quick bite. Stopped in after to dinner to grab a slice because we wanted to try the spot out. Ample seating and great service. Very friendly and welcoming vibe. You can be in and out (if there's no line) in less than 5 minutes!

Yelp
Been looking forward to Slizeria Pizza opening and having someplace in the neighborhood to get a slice of pizza again. There hasn't been anyplace to get a slice of pizza since Slice Truck closed several years ago. Went to Slizeria Pizza today shortly after 11:00am today, Got a slice of Teriyaki Pizza. One slice is enough to fill me up. Noticed many people were ordering the two slice and a beverage deal. I liked the Teriyaki Chicken Pizza. Since I like chicken, I am going to get a slice of the Barbecue Chicken Pizza the next time I go to Slizeria Pizza.

Yelp
So happy there's finally a pizza spot in Sawtelle! Slizeria serves fresh and tasty pizza -- you can really taste the quality in every bite. I got to try their pizza before their grand opening, and it was so nice of them to give out free pizza. I absolutely loved the Hawaiian and Vegetable pizzas -- both full of flavor and made just right. The employees are super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I'll definitely keep coming back for more!

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place but the pizza was a total disappointment. My husband and I walked in at around 5:30 on a Saturday and there was one person ahead of us and one family seated. Plenty of booth seating. The problem? The pizzas on display were visibly dried out which limited the options for us to choose from since we wanted a fresh slice. I went with the jalapeño popper and my husband chose the veggie which was the freshest looking of all the options. We opted for the mix combo, the two slices and a fountain drink, which came up to a little under $11. Our pizza was brought out to us after reheating. My husband's pizza was okay, if you're into veggie pizza. But mine was inedible. I almost choked on how dry the pizza was. There was no sauce at all on the pizza and the crust was slightly sweet (?), which offended my tastebuds as a New Yorker. What started out as a three star experience, lost a star based on the sketchy restroom situation. The restroom isn't located in the pizzeria but outside and in the back of the building. I was offered a huge spoon with a key attached and given vague instructions on where to go. Once I found the bathroom, it was absolutely gross. With the stellar pizza offerings available in LA, I won't be making a second trip to this place, unfortunately.

Yelp
We didn't eat the pizza here, and frankly we're moving out of the city shortly. But this area of Los Angeles could use an affordable Pizza option. The slices looked decent. I wish them well. I would suggest they put on some music, but maybe something that is more geared toward Lo-Fi or chill.

Yelp
Call me crazy because the only reason I made the drive out here was because I heard an ex dodger player, adrian gonzalez, opened up a new pizza parlor. HECK call me double crazy because although I was born and raised in LA (went to uni up the street) I consider myself a proud SF Giants fan. To my surprise though, I had found about the pizza parlor through word of mouth from my friends who are also born and raised and dodger fans. Before I made the trip to the westside, I decided to order online a giant supreme pizza. Thankfully when you sign for the rewards you get 5$ off of any order over 25$!! That was a good steal for me because I was able to bring dinner home that day. Once I got to slizeria, I realized its tucked away in the mini mall on the first floor with ample parking. I went inside and my order was already ready. No line, no wait, and the employees were sweet and efficient. Once I took my big box home, I couldnt wait to open it so I took a peek in the parking lot. I felt as if I heard the heavens call when that pizza smell shined through the box. The pizza looked soooo good and packed with ingredients I couldnt wait to devour it. I do want to mention that even though my order was to go; customers are able to order pizza by the slize and eat in the dining room. Its spacious and long with plenty of sitting with a nice soda fountain! I most definitely do recommend, both Giant and Dodger fans, to come check it out!!

Yelp
I'm glad there's more food variety in Sawtelle and a pizza place is perfect! There was a lot of staff when I went around 8pm and they were super nice and happy to have customers. The dine-in area looks like your standard pizza joint-- now sure if a bunch of folks would care to eat inside. As for the food, I only had the BBQ chicken pizza and it was just fine. The pizza has a very "cheesy" taste because they use an excessive amount, but not sure if it's in a good way. It kind of felt like rubber glued onto the pizza. And the toppings were extremely sparse, which was a little unfortunate. It felt like your standard arcade pizza food, which is not horrible but nothing outstanding.

Yelp
A new pizza spot that just opened up in Sawtelle. They specialize in large slices and have a pretty awesome "2 slices and soda" deal for $10. Former Dodger Adrian Gonzalez apparently is a co-owner. ======== THE EATS ======== ~ TERIYAKI CHICKEN - Pineapples DO belong on pizza! Somehow all the ingredients blend together deliciously in a sweet, salty, savory, combination. It has a Teriyaki sauce base, pineapples, green peppers, onions and bacon. (4/5) ~ MEAT GREEDY - Their meat pizza was pretty good, a lil salty but still good nonetheless. Pepperoni, Sausage, Bacon and Ham. (3/5) ~ JALAPEÑO POPPER - This was had the potential to be good but it was underwhelming. The ingredients sounded good all I really tasted were some Green Peppers and Jalapeños. It had a Ricotta base, Gouda, Mozzerella, Jalapeños, Green Peppers, Bacon. (3/5) ~ BUFFALO CHICKEN - I was most excited for this slice but it let me down, hard. It BARELY had any Buffalo sauce (which was supposed to be the base) and just tasted underwhelming. It also had Chicken, Bacon, Ranch, Cilantro and Banana Peppers. Definitely needed some more Buffalo sauce on it. (2/5) ================ FOUNTAIN DRINKS ================ ~ CREAM SODA - Not too shabby. (4/5) ~ PINEAPPLE CREAM SODA - A decent cream soda with a unique hint of Pineapple. (3/5) ~ ROOT BEER - I've had better. (2/5) =============== FINAL THOUGHTS =============== The slices are kind've small compared to slices sold everywhere else, but with everything priced in the $3-$4.50 range, it's not too bad. The pizzas themselves were pretty good for the most part and there's a decent variety. The affordability bumped it up a point from a 3-Star for me. Not bad for a new pizza spot not too far from UCLA. The twice slices and a fountain drink (which includes 4 Craft Sodas) was a great lunch deal. I'd give it another shot if I'm nearby.

Yelp
The pizza here is so bomb!!!! the pizza is super flavorful always heated ( unlike other pizza places) The service especially the cashier working closing shift today HENRY was super friendly and nice explaining how the ordering goes. The ambiance is perfect for the people walking by just really god! For those who cant eat gluten they have a cauliflower crust which is super tasty!!!

Yelp
This place is great. The pizza is flavorful and the prices don't break the bank for lunch. I think I've tried every version of pizza they have and it's all been great. The employees here are on top of everything and are always helpful. The vibe is comfortable and there is plenty of seating.

Yelp
This is the new place that opened up right by me and I'm so happy that it did! The price point is right and the pizza is delicious. The sauce is very savory and not just plain tomato sauce. I can taste a hint of garlic and seasoning in it. They put just the right amount of toppings on it. My cousins were over last night. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza. It was cooked to perfection and the pepperoni was perfectly crispy and had that tiny bit of spice that I like. The pizza was perfectly cheesy. I would normally order extra cheese, but no need on this pie. I was shocked at how inexpensive this place is. Finally somewhere where you can have a decent pizza pie that doesn't break the bank. I hope it stays this way. I highly recommend this place especially if you're feeding a large family. This is definitely my new go to pizza spot so yummy!

Yelp
i hope this place has the time and funding to grow. Seems like corners were cut in a lot of places, and the staff is trying their best to cover those cracks. Nice people at the front, but maybe even too many, with the pizza not tasting very fresh and packeted parmesan and pepper flakes at the table. Just not local feeling or quality at all.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
The slices of pizza look like they where baked hours ago and been sitting in a display case for hours. Then instead of using the pizza oven to cook them. They use this tiny little toaster oven that honestly it's only good for toast. I had to walk away and go somewhere else. It's not worth the effort to eat there.
google avatar

Charles H.

Yelp
OMG, why is it so hard to get a decent slice of pizza on the west side of Los Angeles?? I'm sorry they were very nice people and you got a nice big portion for your money, but the pizza taste like the stuff my mom would buy in the frozen section 40 years ago in the supermarket. The sauce is too sweet, the cheese taste, bland, and generic without enough salt and cheesy flavor.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is excellent the service is good good customer service plenty of parking prices is not bad at all it's actually decent good location for family event come and chill

Kit K.

Yelp
Tried this new pizza spot in West Hollywood near my office and was genuinely impressed! You can tell the quality is there--from the crust to the toppings, everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. I had the Jalapeño Popper pizza- super flavorful with just the right amount of kick. It's a unique twist that works perfectly without being too heavy or overly spicy. The staff is also incredibly friendly and welcoming.

H K.

Yelp
Really bad! We ordered four different pizza and honestly, they were all heavy heavy on the cheese and did not taste good.

Marina H.

Yelp
Enjoyed the food. Got lucky with fresh out of the oven pizza. The combo of two big slices and a drink for $7.99 for pepperoni pizza was such an amazing value. The service was great, the staff was very friendly. We were even lucky enough to meet the owner (IYKYK). Overall I will definitely be returning for more pizza.
