The Essential Atlanta Barbecue Restaurants and Pop-Ups

"Pitmaster Brian Keenan has been smoking meats most of his life and definitely knows his way around a wood-fired barbecue pit. Keenan’s specialties are whole hog barbecue using Berkshire Breed hogs and Texas-style brisket done up as sandwiches or plates with sides of baked beans and freshly made coleslaw. Folks can often find Keenan popping up at breweries around Roswell on the weekends, as well as festivals throughout the year. Follow on Instagram for details. Catering available." - Eater Staff

Beyond friendly, extremely clean! The entire restaurant from head to toe is clean. The service is amazing. The food is some good down south style BBQ. First time here and have found new favorite spot to come back to. The cheesy jalapeño grits, collards and brisket is phenomenal! Bringing the family back in a few weeks!

12:20pm I ordered the pulled pork sandwich meal with 2 sides. Mac and cheese and black eyed peas. The only thing edible was the peas and that is being generous. The Mac and cheese was soupy, ill flavored and tasted…. Well, Kraft is better. The pork was so dry. It was power in your mouth. Like dried meat. It was such an unfortunate experience. I threw the plate away and opted for chicken fil a smh. Maybe it was just a bad day. Everyone was nice and the environment was clean and inviting.

I ordered sliced brisket and pulled pork with coleslaw and Brunswick stew. Everything tasted great as expected from a southern BBQ restaurant. My little secret for the Brunswick stew is to add some of the restaurant's sauce to it for a little extra kick. I also like the "picnic" feel of the dining area. I will definitely be going back.

I love Slopes and have been coming here for over 25 years. They have excellent sides and a solid chili dog!

Awesome food, great service.. not bad prices. I got the BBQ sandwich with 1 side and a drink. I choose the Chicken BBQ.

First time and won’t be back. People are very friendly but food wasn’t good. Had a “jumbo”brisket sandwich with not a lot of sliced beef, dryer than I expected and on a regular old bun I could get anywhere. The side dishes portions were ridiculously small- barely a 1/4 cup of baked beans and coleslaw on a styrofoam plate with sections. The coleslaw was pretty bad-bitter tasting and didn’t finish it. Heard good things but not coming back.

Stopped by for lunch. Classic BBQ, the brisket sandwich, baked beans and mac and cheese were excellent! The restaurant was clean and the staff very friendly! Will come back again!
