New San Diego Restaurants to Try Right Now | Eater San Diego

"A departure from the Landini family's Italian spots, this Pacific Beach bistro delivers a Mediterranean-meets-Baja menu from executive chef Yadira Cuevas, who hails from Michoacán, Mexico; dishes include mussels and clams in a chorizo cream, roasted maitake mushrooms with mole and crispy potatoes, and a marinated pork chop in a guajillo chile sauce. The restaurant and bar stay open late Thursday through Saturday and offer valet service on weekends." - Candice Woo

Great restaurant in Pacific Beach! The food and drinks are fantastic. Our waitress was super nice, but the food took a bit to come out since we noticed there was only 1 person in the kitchen - I guess they were short staffed. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the whipped feta appetizer and salmon dish. The whipped feta was more of a roasted broccolini dish with just a thin layer of creamy feta on the bottom. We were expecting more of a fluffy dip with broccoli and veggies on the side but it still had amazing flavor. The salmon was decent, but again, more broccolini, and the base was sort of dry. We also ordered the tuna crudo and lamb chops - both delicious. The margarita was incredibly - highly recommend. Everything tasted great. They also offer so many gluten free dishes!! Highly recommend Slowly!!

Visited for a date night while in town and truly had such a great experience with all of our food. The dishes were priced well, full of flavor and truly had me wishing I had more space to finish my meal. The server was exceptional and so kind to us.

Google
The food was amazing. Whoever the chef was, she was on top of it. I drove all the way from South Dakota and had to have something romantic for the wife. The server was professional and fast. The pappardelle green creamy sauce was fantastic with shrimp perfectly cooked with it to mix with the pig cheeks. I was very impressed with the atmosphere also. The floors and seats were clean. Typically there are crumbs at the table feet and that was not so with Slowly. The staff was welcoming and kind upon entry and exit. The only suggestion being slightly lower volume of the music. Absolutely perfect and a great reprieve from the kids and family after a 23 hour drive. Keep it up whoever the head chef is.

Google
Fantastic food with standout, one-of-a-kind flavors. The chicken and pappardelle were incredible, and the shrimp appetizer had an absolutely amazing sauce. We ended with the crème brûlée, which was outstanding. Each dish felt intentional and different from the usual, highly recommend

Google
I was shocked at how good this restaurant was for being in PB lol. The food was fantastic, definitely worth it for the price! We went on a Thursday right after work and didn't have any trouble getting a table either.

Google
Beautiful and elegant evening at Slowly in Pacific Beach! Loved the vibe, and all the servers were very friendly and accommodating. The food was great and beautifully presented. We had the tuna crudo, ribeye aguachile, and seabass & clams. We really enjoyed the cocktails the present moment pear lychee and maple old fashioned. We sat on the dog friendly patio. Recommend!

Google
I came here with my daughter on a Tues night and we did the $65 prix fixe dinner for 2. What a value! 2 glasses of champagne, 1 shareable app, 2 entrees and a dessert. We also split a bread with spreads to start. Exceptional ingredients (very fresh) with creative dishes. Service was attentive; it was a great experience. If I had to give a criticism it would be that dishes were served so quickly, one after the other..we could have asked for slower delivery of courses.

Google
Seriously so delicious. Hard to find good sit-down food in PB, but this is IT. I loved their bread spread and tortitas de papa appetizers, salmon dish, and crème brûlée. Service was attentive and sweet from the moment you step in till out.

Yelp
I dined in last night and when I say that was easily one of the best services I've ever received, I truly mean that! Our server, Lillian was attentive, respectful, and overall just really nice! My friend and I ate and then talked for an hour plus and she didn't make us feel pressured to leave and also never stopped checking on us and refilling our waters. The ambience and overall vibes the restaurant is so cute. I'm glad I went when they weren't busy so I could really take it all in. Both of my friend and I ate off the happy hour menu and got the burgers and we both rated it a 10 out of 10!! I will be back and recommend y'all come check them out too!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place and it did not disappoint. My husband and I came for happy hour and enjoyed beer and wine for $6 each and several delicious appetizers ($8 each): - Flatbread (today it was spicy calabrese, caramelized onions and mozzarella) - Whipped feta and chill (with broccolini and this delectable sweet and spicy sauce) - chimmichurri burger (1/2 lb) - tortitas de papa (potato patties with a poblano sauce) We also got the housemade puccia bread and herb butter. We finished with the crème brûlée that had just a little citrus which was perfection. It was all wonderful, perfectly prepared and flavorful! My personal favorite was the whipped feta and broccolini. It was so good I ordered one to go! We look forward to coming back to try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
What a great find thanks to Yelp. My wife found Slowly offering Tuesday Night date specials including three course meal for two with complimentary champagne for $65. It was a bit of a drive from North County and parking can be challenging, but it was well worth it. The staff was very gracious and helpful and the food was phenomenal. From the prix fix menu we ordered the coconut shrimp as appetizer and it was an appropriate serving for two. For dinner we had the Yadi's Chicken and the Leisurely Burger. Both were delicious. To cap our meal we had Creme Brulle for dessert. This was definitely a find we look forward to returning to, specifically since it's an area near and dear to my wife.

Yelp
First of all, this place should be a $$$ restaurant. It's a cool, trendy bar/restaurant. The happy hour is great with $5 off most cocktails and a discount on appetizers. The drinks were interesting. We tried the lavender drink - but didn't care for it. Then we tried the bonfire espresso martini. It was okay - more chocolate milky than espresso. It comes with two large marshmallows that they scorch table-side, but it only scorched the top - so they should use smaller marshmallows. The margarita was good. We had the broccolini appetizer which was excellent. Then we ordered the pappardelle pasta, steak and fries, and mole mushroom. Our favorite was the steak and fries. The pasta was different - but tasty. We didn't care for the mushroom. Service was excellent, patient, and attentive. The noise level is great. There is off street parking.

Yelp
Take Your Time On Tuesday Night and take advantage of their date for 2 menu deal! Lilian was our server and she brought on her bright eyes and beautiful smile with a no rush attitude. Sip slowly and savor the moments in the tranquil and calming environment. They have a special menu for this and you get a personal champagne, choice of appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert currently for $65 unless you choose to substitute it at a different expense that is advertised. Cheers to anything you are celebrating.

Yelp
I was visiting San Diego from LA and tried Slowly in Pacific Beach. such a beautiful little gem. The ambience was lovely and the staff were all so friendly. The food was amazing: the arrachera was tender and delicious, the chicken was super flavorful, and the coconut shrimp was perfect. Even my picky-eater kid almost finished the whole plate and said it was the best steak ever. Everything we ordered was excellent. Highly recommend if you're in the area, we'll definitely go back!

Yelp
Came to Slowly for happy hour. The ambience and service were great, perfect for a date and the cutlery and decor were very nice! The oysters were $1.50 with a minimum order of 6. They weren't the freshest oysters I've had and the flavor was just okay. I also expected more flavor from the mango habanero. There was just something lacking about it. If the flavors improved it would definitely be a great spot!
google avatar

Emory K.

Yelp
I came here on a Monday, right in time for social hour with my partner. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the social hour deals could not be beaten - $1.50 oysters and $8 small plates, plus a $15 bottle of wine! It was a little awkward though as we were the only customers in the dining room the entire time, however. This is a great place to go and experience once.

Yelp
This place might be my new fav in PB! It truly does have a calm atmosphere, nothing feels super rushed, lighting and music are low for ambiance, everyone seems soft spoken but in a wonderful way. Our waitress (I feel so bad for forgetting her name), was so kind! The drinks were delicious and nicely balanced, the food was soo tasty!! That bread is all I've been thinking about since we left. We will be returning soooooon :)

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday for their Aperitivo event and we wish my roommates and I wish we knew about this place sooner. On Thursdays from 4-7, they have an event going on where with the purchase of one alcoholic drink. You have access to their hors d'oeuvres bar. The bar tender did a fantastic job of explaining to us how long they've been open and which drinks he recommends. The inside has the coziest, romantic interior. Would be perfect for date night (or happy hour with your roommates) Food was great as well. Honorable mentions are the charcuterie and cheese in a cup, flatbread pizza, bacon wrapped asparagus, and crème brûlée

Yelp
Okay so the Kickoff UYE Sundays Aperitivo (Open in Italian) AYCE from 4-6p on Sundays started off decent. We opted for non-alcoholic mocktails and they were made well, $15-16 each. The deal is that you purchase a drink from the bar and the All You Can Eat (AYCE) Pasta and Salad Bar is free. Met up with fellow Yelp Elite Desiree here. It was so nice to see her again. My Husband and I ordered for mocktails: 1 Patient Pear, 1 Cucumber Mint Lime Sour, and 1 Lazy Lavender Lemonade. All were made well and tasty. They had 4 pastas at the AYCE Pasta Bar: Spaghetti Bolognese, Vodka Rigatoni, Broccoli & Sausage Shells, and Gluten Free Fusilli Pasta with Broccoli and Sausage. All were tasty and Vodka Rigatoni was the creamiest and my fave. The salad bar: Caesar Salad, Green Salad, and Pasta Salad. Caesar salad was on point. I did not try the other salads. There were about 8-10 of us having Apertivo AYCE on this Inaugural Sunday. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food. They have other dishes on their main menu that caught our eyes. For example, the Mediterranean Stuffed Peppers with braised lamb looks like it would be delicious. We may come back to try that. The drawback/con of the Aperitivo AYCE deal is that you must eat from small cake plate sized plates, you are not allowed to have a normal 8"-10" dinner or lunch plate. So you are forced to walk all the way to the AYCE Bar to refill after about 5 bites of food. Also, they only provide the small, flimsy, plastic forks and spoons for Apertivo dining...super cheap. This was quite disappointing. I realize that this is the "method" to keep food available, but 8-10 of us are not going to eat all of the pasta served in those 40 person per entree chaffing dishes between 4-6p. Same for the salad. I was hoping for more of a "salad bar" because that is what caught my eye about this Aperitivo. We stayed 5:10p-5:50p. After tipping, we paid $57 for 2 small plates each of pasta and 1 small plate each of salad. Probably would have had a better experience at Buona Forchetta. This was not a deal but a chance to try other Italian restaurants in SD. To my other Yelp Elites, do not waste your time nor money. Go to Buona Forchetta, Cesarina, Elvira, or any other Italian Restaurant and have a meal on lunch or dinner sized plates. Your price as a diner is sacrificed here.

Yelp
Celebrated my anniversary with my partner here at Slowly and they made us feel so special the whole night. We arrived with a little card on the table wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Our waitress was friendly and personable. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for a date night. The food was great! In terms of main entrees, the vegetarian options are limited and I'm not sure how much we could personalize the other dishes, so we ordered primarily sides - which turned out to be fun. The bread came out hot and the butter accompanying it was so good. The burrata salad had a lot of different flavors and textures, it went well with the bread. The truffle fries were so satisfying to eat and the crispy mushrooms were tasty. I ordered a pomegranate mojito, and that was delicious. Because we were celebrating an anniversary, Slowly gave us complimentary gelato - which was refreshing and tasted like an orange creamsicle. We ordered the cheesecake as well since we wanted to try it - which it was so good. Overall, I am so impressed with my experience with Slowly and would definitely come back again!

Yelp
I went here with a friend & we were soo pleased with everything about this place! The bread is delicious and the dips are all good too. The house butter was the winner there though! I ordered the tuna crudo, and while I of course wish there was more of it on the plate, it was delightfully fresh, the sauce with it was great, and overall so worth it! The black mussels & clams were also 10/10. Excited to come back and try more of their menu! Our waiter was great, and the atmosphere was nice & quite a few people were there at 7pm on a Thursday night.

Yelp
I have met some really nice people here when I sit at the bar or great fireside chats on the fire pit patio. I really like their social hour and their Aperitivo on Thursdays. I can recommend their WHISKEY SIZZLE KABOBS!!! Get those. And the to Whipped Feta and Chill, if you like broccolini like I do. The Tortitas de Papa are the only potato dish I get excited for these days. For the mains my favorite is between the Poblano Pappardelle, the Aracherra ( if I don't get the whiskey sizzle kabobs first), the chicken ( surprising) , the pork chop ( surprisingly tender - I get when I want a lot of to protein) and the Sea bass and clams or the meltingly tender lamb... Oh it's so hard to choose... And if you like bread ... Get the Puccia bread. People like the Slowly Moley Mushrooms... I guess I don't like the taste of mole. Crazy. I know! I've also had almost every specialty cocktail and mocktail on their menu. I like anything they've served me in a martini glass. Haha I love this place. I hope that my review helps! Next up I'm going to try their Tuesday date night. $65 for two dinners, drinks, AND an appetizer AND a dessert sound like the best deal ever. I might bring my mom!

Yelp
Hey Yelp Community! When you need to unwind or take it slow, Slowly Restaurant & Lounge is the place to be. Since their grand opening, I was like "I SEE YOU". Inside Slowly was vibrant creating a cozy feel at the same time with positive affirmations all around. I love that Slowly has a lounge for guests to slowly be in the present while hanging out. Their Thursday buffet sealed the deal for me. I slowly enjoyed eating each fresh, uniquely flavored mini bite along with my purchased sweet tasting cocktail with a slow-kick if you know what I mean (Lol). The staff were super friendly and hospitable which is always a huge plus for me...equals stellar service. I highly recommend this chill PB spot.

Yelp
This spot has an awesome ambiance and very attentive staff Ordered one of their mock tails prices start at $11 with their drinks but they're all splendid The place was clean, very good decor and the spot doors a good job with keeping the slowwww meal space available My party and I went for the complimentary buffet Thursday 4-7 which as delicious and they had Spanish American cuisine which was delicious I will come back to this spot in the future for dinner
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
Definitely impressed with the wide selection and high quality of complimentary bites offered during this resto's Aperitivo social hour (Thursdays 4-7 pm), but thought my cocktail of choice - Pisco Sour - was overly sweet. May stick to the Japanese rice lager on future visits, as it made an excellent light and crisp foil to Slowly's flavor-packed savory food menu! Service felt a bit neglected on the patio, and would recommend opting for an inside table if doing dinner rather than just nibbles.

Yelp
We stopped by on Christmas Eve without a reservation. We saw plenty of availability on OpenTable, so we decided to walk in rather than booking something. The hostess mentioned they were very busy and could only seat us in the bar area. That was fine with us, though it didn't *look* busy--perhaps they were short-staffed due to the holiday. Either way, the bar area was cozy and charming. We initially had our eye on the $99 date night special for two, but it wasn't available because of the holiday. Instead, I ordered the arrachera, and my husband went with the pork chop. My steak was flavorful but unfortunately a bit cold, likely because we were waiting on his meal, which was served piping hot. Overall, it was a nice dinner. A few minor complaints, but we were grateful they were open on the holiday. We made sure to leave a good tip. I'd be willing to try them again in the future!

Yelp
We had a wonderful 17th Anniversary Dinner after our bike ride around the bay! Such a cool & cozy vibe and so WELCOMING! Dress up, dress down or come after a bike ride! Jamie our server was excellent! Our entire experience was perfect but our fav was the Puccia bread & spreads, yum! SOCiAL hour menu 9pm-close, yeah! #LingerInTheMoment

Yelp
I started with the Cranberry Apple Moscow Mule. I love Moscow Mules and this is the best one I've ever had! We shared appetizers - broccolini, homemade bread, and steak skirt kabobs. Everything tasted amazing! The bread was warm and soft inside with a flavored butter. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. For my main course I ordered the Yadi's Signature Chicken (herb marinated breast, cauliflower purée, sautéed asparagus, chimichurri sauce). The flavors were so good. I loved this dish. The ambiance is dark and felt perfect for a date. Service was also really good. Our server was nice and attentive. I will definitely be coming back here again.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday night to try their aperitivo. It's from 4pm-7pm. Came in around 6:15pm so it was a little later. I think the key to this is coming in right when it opens. That's the smart way of doing this. All you have to do is buy one drink and you are able to get access to the buffet appetizers. Which honestly it's an amazing deal! I wish everything was hot and fresh because the food could have been better. Our favorite was pastry puff with the clam chowder and the charcuterie bowl. I believe each week there's different appetizers though. The bottle of wine is the way to go for us. This place is a little small so don't be surprised if you standing or don't have a place to sit. They do have a front door patio. The service was great. Everyone was kind and sweet. Overall we definitely will be coming back but at 4pm when they just first open!
google avatar

Yelp
This standalone structure was the home of a longtime BBQ joint in PB. When the space became available, the owners of the Italian eatery across the street took over the lease and opened Slowly Restaurant & Lounge which featured a fusion of Mediterranean and Mexican cuisines. The biggest improvement to the layout occurred in the front patio area where a firepit was installed to keep customers warm if they wanted to dine al fresco. The bar offered a menu of six small bites. The front side of the main menu listed six starters, six sides, and three salads. Nine main plates and four desserts made up the other side. I sat at round top table across from the bar and ordered the Beef Skewers for a starter. Two skewers of skirt steak, red onion, and bell peppers were served on top of an apple whiskey glaze with a potato medley on the side. I liked the glaze as it provided a fruity sauce for the meat. The price was a tad expensive at $20 for a cut of skirt steak. For an entree, my choice was the Sweet & Slow Pork Chop. Two pieces of bone-in pork marinated in a guajillo pepper sauce were grilled and served on a bed of sweet potato puree with roasted veggies and sweet citrus harissa sauce. This was the most colorful presentation of pork chops that I have ever seen. The flavors were well-balanced between sweet and savory. The service from my waiter was okay. I did have to flag him down a couple of times as he was busy with other diners. Business was slow during my visit which occurred during the first week of opening. I am hopeful that over time, the volume of customers will increase as people discover a new option for a style of cuisine that doesn't exist elsewhere in this neighborhood.

Yelp
NICE AND SLOWLY (5 stars + meteor shower + starlinks) ... just how I like it! - FOOD: really good - PRICE: not that cheap - SERVICE: excessive - AMBIANCE: cute but can get loud "Where every sip and bite unfolds in perfect time". This place is phenomenal! Every bite just blew my mind away. The level of execution was nothing more of quality. Upon arrival was given (2) additional menus: Social Hour and Bar Bites. The Social Hour overlapped with the regular menu's Slow Starters section but with happy hour price. Wanted a variety and went for "1 of each" which was plenty to not look at the Masterful Mains. And each was a foodgasm experience. Their drinks are more for esthetic and taste and not for the buzz. :: SERVICE :: Great BUT annoying. It was constant checking in to the point it felt interruptive. At least 3 serves were flooring the dining area with "can I take this plate" every few minutes. Yet, there is food STILL on the plate. Or one other just passed through with the same "can I take this plate". And when trying to have a conversation (or in deep conversation) here comes a server with "can I take this plate". It was TOOOO much. Thanks for the attention of details but take a step back and let people enjoy their time and food. :: BITES :: SLOW DANCIN SHIRMP ($19/$14) - coconut crusted, served with mango pico, and sweet coconut chili sauce. I am never a fan of ordering coconut shrimp but their take on it was surprisingly good. The mango pico may have been a small portioned side but paired perfectly with the shrimp. The shrimp was very fresh, deep fried yet not overly, and the batter wasn't an overkill taste of coconut. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TUNA CRUDO ($23/18) - sushi grade tuna, cucumber, poke sauce, sesame-seeds, aioli, pea green shoots. Above typical! The tuna was so creamy, yes coated with sauce but you can still taste its freshness beneath it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND BLACK MUSSELS & CLAM ($18/13) - Mexican chorizos, cream, white wine. Tomatoes, cilantro, served with toasted points. Yums! This was savory and hearty. Loved the mix of both mussels and clams, the 'ground' chorizo added the perfect amount of meat and hints of heat. The mussels and clams were cooked perfectly, no sand grit, no 'dead' ones in the bowl, and the texture was soft and swishy not chewy and rubbery, That sauce was thick and tasty perfect for dipping the slices of bread in. HIGHLY RECOMMEND BEEF SKEWERS ($20/$15) GF - steak, onion, bell pepper, potato melody, apple whiskey glaze. Came with two. Grilled to perfection. The steak was thinly sliced and tender. The apple whisky gave it a light sweet taste and although good I am not usually a fan of apple flavor on my grilled items but it worked. Liked the ratio of meat to veggies. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROASTED BROCCOLINI ($14/$9) - whipped feta, sweet harissa sauce, spiced pine nuts. That white sauce was cheesy with a little kick. you can never go wrong with a side of broccolini to help break up the dishes with some fresh veggies. Blanched nicely, kept its color, cooked, but not soggy and had a little snap to it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND :: SIPPIES :: TRANQUIL TIKI DREAM ($16/$11) - white rum, ginger liquor, blue curaçao, pineapple juice, coconut syrup, coconut flake rum, flamin 151 rum. This drink was more very beautiful, the blue was eye catching, and it tasted like a mocktail more than a cocktail. Level of alcohol: weak. LIGHT HEARTED LYCHEE($23) - vodka, Malibu rum, lemon, lychee liqueur, egg whites, coconut flake rim. I wanted a gin cocktail but nothing on the menu wow'ed me and since a round 2 of cocktails was in order I selected this. The lychee was light and the sweetness did not overtake the attention away. I love cocktails with egg whites as it creates a velvety foam cap. My coconut flake rim was missing and wish that was incorporated as this was swerved in a martini glass and wanted to get that full taste with each sip. Level of alcohol: weak. I always save room for dessert but opt out as the night continues to another location. And was assuming dessert was in order at another place. That was a lovely dinner. Left satisfied and not full and sluggish. JABA APPROVED. Until the next bite...

Yelp
Very professional high quality restaurant. I popped in for a quick wine flight with a babelicious. I look forward to checking out dinner and will def give an updated review.

Yelp
I had such a wonderful experience dining at Slowly. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting--the perfect balance of cozy and elegant. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure every guest had a great time and were pleased with the food and service.

Yelp
Slowly's Apertivo Hour is such a great deal and pulled me in to try their restaurant. From 4-7 pm, the price of a drink gives you access to a little buffet of snacks and appetizers to munch on. Really fun idea and was impressed at the amount of food offerings that were available at any given time (ex: pizza, Caesar salad, mini pot pies, rice pudding, bruschetta, honey chicken bites, and more). My main critique is that the area it is hosted in was far too small for the amount of people dining. There were only a few tables, so many people had to stand around in empty spaces and try to hold, eat, and sip their drinks and food at the same time. I'd recommend getting there at the top of the hour to ensure a spot.

Yelp
Great Spot! I loved all the fun, colorful yet tasty cocktails we ordered. The kids menu was class! My favorite were the flat bread and mussels. Staff was attentive and sweet. Give them some love!

Yelp
Slowly is an uncharacteristically upscale addition to PB but a welcome one! I tried their complimentary Thursday atpertivo happy hour, so this review only reflects that experience but I look forward to coming back to try a meal. The apertivo is a generous gesture from slowly and a good introduction to the bar and lounge section at the front. Outside there are nice fire pits and additional seating too. There are some gourmet takes on the food such as the black truffle french fries, which featured a nice rich earthy truffle flavor. Sliders, empanadas, charcuterie board, there was a decent selection of foods. But things go quick and they aren't necessarily fast to replenish. But hard to complain given that it's complementary. Definitely worth a visit and I look forward to going back to try dinner.

Yelp
Omg Slowly is a true gem! Is like North Park meets PB the same as Mediterranean meets Pacific. Absolutely loved the bistro ambiance and was able to enjoy my first Aperitivo complimentary buffet Thursday! What a treat! Thanks so much for all you do and I will totally come back on a date night with my guy. I went with a fellow Yelper and we met some others there. We even talked to strangers, yes! This is a restaurant where you can talk to people while enjoying awesome food and great drinks. Recommended the orange beer and the sliders are awesome. Well the pizza was awesome too, everything delicious. Oh! The decor is so chic, love the design and the books around reflecting and slow paced life.

Yelp
We went there for their Thursdays happy hour buffet as part of their grand opening special and it was great. Who can say no to free food. They had, Cesar salad, fries, pizza, soup, deep fried battered broccolis just to name a few and they all tasted exceptional. Since it was happy hours, it was a self serve environment where plates were laid out. We got a couple of white and red wine and they were not bad. Overall great environment and nice place in a busy location.

Yelp
The food was pretty good I just felt like I was at pregame the whole time. Would come back for drinks for sure though, food service too. The ambiance was def lacking for the type of restaurant I thought it was. More of a bar vibe than a place to eat

Yelp
I discovered this spot through the Yelp event page. Every Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM, they offer a complimentary buffet with the purchase of a cocktail or mocktail. I tried the cucumber mint lime sour mocktail, which was fantastic. It was made with mint, cucumber, egg white, and lime juice, priced at $11. The buffet featured a variety of options, including sliders, pizza, two types of pasta, a ceviche tostada, a pork tostada, two kinds of salads, chicken bites, flan, and more. Parking was easy to find right in front of the building, though this may depend on the time and day. The restaurant does not have private parking. Given how tasty the buffet items were, I can only imagine the more upscale dishes on the menu are equally impressive. The space is gorgeous, with a stylish bar at the entrance and a dining area off to the side. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout my visit.

Went for our special anniversary dinner. Lily was great. Food was incredible. Drinks delish. Loved the vibe. It was quiet and romantic. Whatever you do.. don't skip the bread! We will be back.

Yelp
Had Christmas dinner here and it was pleasant. They seemed a bit understaffed but maintained pretty low wait times on food and drinks. I ordered the mellow mango margarita and it tasted good. We ordered the sizzling kabobs for the table and that was delicious. Whatever the meat was marinated in made it tender with a hint of sweetness which paired nicely with the salty potatoes. It could've been a meal for one in itself. I ordered the skirt steak and fries. The steak was cooked to my liking and I enjoyed the chimichurri. I liked how it wasn't too busy and we were able to hold a conversation throughout our meal.

Yelp
Amazing vibe, staff and food! Their happy hour menu is SUCH a great deal, I keep coming back with new friends and for solo dinners! My favorites are the flatbread and the chimichurri burger but all the food is great! The front patio is dog friendly and I also love brining my dog :)

Yelp
Was looking for a place open after 9:30PM and I saw this place and thought spontaneous date night... social hour (daily 9PM to close)... Lillian was our server... I love it here... haven't given a yelp review in awhile but this place was giving hole in the wall but deserves a lot of credit for the food, service, and ambiance 10/10 coming back again :)

Yelp
What a great find! We went with another couple and tried their "date night" on Tuesdays. The date night menu had a good selection and for $65 per couple (which included 2 glasses of champagne) it was such a win. Wish I could remember our server's name bc she was incredibly nice, attentive and knowledgeable. It made the experience extra special. We were seated inside but they also offer limited seating outside and some people had their dogs with them. We will be back to try some other items on the menu that caught our attention.

Yelp
We loved everything about Slowy. The atmosphere was dark and sexy and the food was top notch. We tried just about everything on the menu it felt like but then started bread and the Moscow mule were favorites. Our waiter was kind and knowledge and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Order the seasonal burrata salad and warm pita bread with garlic butter. So good!! Loved their spicy marg and their wine list is hand picked by their owner and reasonable pricing for a glass of wine which I greatly appreciate. Hubby ordered the pork and loved it. I am vegetarian and ordered the parpardelle which ended up being made with too many capers and was too salty but they fixed it immediately and it ended up being delish. The waitress was wonderful and comped me the wine for the issue with the meal. The ambiance is lovely, we will definito go back!

Yelp
Great service. Great food. We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere. Enjoyed the pork chop, Mediterranean stuffed pepper and bread as well as the crème brûlée and lazy lavender martinis. Can't wait to go back and try more food and drinks!

Yelp
After having just finished an afternoon tea nearby, my friends and I decided to go out for a proper afternoon drink. We were looking for a place with a nice atmosphere and possibly some Rosé. My friend looked up nearby bars and found Slowly. Anyway, we were very politely greeted at the door and welcomed. It was mostly empty as it was exactly 4 PM when the place was opening. We were given our choice of seating and chose a shady spot on the patio. The patio was decorated in vibrant colors with real flowers. It was bright and tastefully done. We were readily greeted by our server and given a description of the menu. We let him know that we were just coming for drinks. The cocktail menu looked amazing, but we were in the mood for some dryRosé. He brought us some wine to taste. It was to our liking, so we ordered a bottle. During that time, our waters were regularly refilled, and we were checked on to ensure that our needs were met. The food smelled delicious, but we had just eaten so will have to return another time for food. Anyway, it came out that we had been celebrating my birthday, so our server brought a portion of cheesecake with a candle. It was a delicate and delicious key lime cheesecake with fresh berries. I highly recommend it. We only went for drinks, but this was a very positive experience of a wonderful atmosphere, great service, and a delicious dessert.

Yelp
Drinks only review (unfortunately!) After a wonderful high tea experience nearby, my friends and I were looking for a place to kick back and relax with a drink! Thanks to Yelp, I discovered this lovely place around the block. The initial pictures on yelp of the atmosphere at the restaurant attracted to me this restaurant. So on a Saturday afternoon, just after 4 (restaurant opens at 4) we popped in. Greeted by two lovely hostess who offered us seating outside on the patio or in the bar area. As the patio area was shaded quite nicely on a hot day, we decided on a comfy patio seat in front of the restaurant. Shortly after we sat down, we were greeted by our lovely waiter who introduced himself! He (unfortunately I do not recall his name) told us that the restaurant just opened the week we visited! And that the restaurant features Mediterranean food and wines from several countries. Our mouths were watering, but our stomachs were still full so we decided on just a sparkling rose. As we were celebrating my dear friends birthday, the waiter offered us dessert too! As we were so full, we were unsure, but later decided to try the yummy dessert. We were glad we did as it was like a key lime cheesecake with some yummy berries. Thanks for this unexpected treat! The environment was very relaxing to have our drink and the service was very attentive. We look forward to coming back and trying some food- as the scents from the restaurant smelled wonderful! Plus the restaurant offers a social hour from Monday thru Friday 4-6pm. During the social hour they have an oyster and a bottle of wine special for $29. Plus a good array of drink specials! And the bar area is quite pretty!

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner and the food was outstanding! Lee was our very attentive server and never missed a moment! The new restaurant is chic and modern! A great addition to Pacific Beach. Happy hour is generous and affordable! So many choices for bar and menu! The creme brulee was so good! The mango margarita was delicious and the lavender lemon drop was craveable! We will be back soon!!

Yelp
We came here for a double date with some friends. I'm normally hesitant towards newer restaurants because they may not have all their menu items all sorted out yet or their service. But this was a pleasant surprise! The ambiance was lovely and had a nice feel to it. But the seats were quite close to each other and felt cramped. It was loud and a bit darker for my liking, but overall nice vibe. We ordered some drinks which were all good and tasty. The food we ordered was good as well. We ordered something similar to a potato croquette and the texture and flavor of that was good. The sauce it came with tasted mostly good, but maybe with low quality ingredients. The ravioli texture was really good and a perfect al Dente. The sauce was great, but needed some salt along with the filling. The beef skewers were flavorful and had a great sauce with them on the plate, but it was such a small plate and not really worth it. The skirt steak was nothing special for the steak itself. The chimichurri was good and the onions were ok but a bit plain for my liking. We ordered a medium rare burger that came out medium, but we were still happy that it wasn't too overdone. It was a good burger, but nothing unique about it. The service was great and our waitress was really helpful and came by a few times to check on us. She was patient with our food orders and was very friendly. The food came out in a timely manner, which was appreciated. I would recommend this spot!

Yelp
Oysters are absolutely incredible! But let me tell you, the real showstopper was the white chocolate espresso martini. Oh my goodness, it was a heavenly combination!

Yelp
We frequently visit San Diego to escape the heat of the Old Pueblo. We try to visit some of our favorites on a recurring basis but also look to find new favorites. Slowly is one of them. Newly opened Slowly is a wonderful modern eatery. Everything we had was really delicious. We started with the broccolini appetizer. The vegetables themselves were great with the right amount of seasoning and a slightly sweet spice. The accompanying sauce helped cool it down and enhanced the flavor. We also tried a side of the corn and bread. Both are winners. The roasted corn was salty toasty sweet tasty. The bread was of, I think, the ciabatta family. It was seasoned well and came with an amazing g herb butter. It was steaming hot with a soft interior and a crunchy crust. Definitely order the bread. Mains we tried included the ravioli--yummy cream sauce and cooked al dente, honestly as it should be. The mushroom mole was our other entree and it was also quite good. The crispy potato's it came with were especially good when eaten in a composed bite with the mushrooms and greens slathered in a slightly spicy and complex mole. Coming from a UNESCO World City of Gastronomy, this mole holds up well. We closed out with a small birthday cheesecake. It was very vanilla-forward (in a good way) and the texture was almost like a budino and silky smooth. Waitress was super friendly. The owner stopped by and chatted. All in all well worth a trip if you're in the Pacific Beach area or willing to travel to it for some well-made and creative food.
