Slowpokes

This place has such a cozy industrial vibe. The coffee is great and the food was excellent. I was after a great cup of specialty coffee and this spot satisfied that requirement for me. The Lazy Latte was delicious and the perfectly blend of lavender sweetness. The Prosciutto+Fig Panino was oh so good with melty brie, pretzel bun, and sweet fig jam. Highly recommend stopping by this place. They have 2 small parking lots on either side of the building, but can fill up quick and the spaces are pretty tight. You can find parking on the street as well. There is lovely natural light that comes in through the large glass windows. They also have board games and wifi. Customer service was also excellent. I spent a good while just sipping my iced latte and resting my Kindle.

We love Slowpokes so much! Excited to get to try a new location. The place is beautiful, with plenty of seating inside and outside. The parking is a little small but there are plenty of ways to park around here. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner and so did the drinks which were also very delicious. Can't wait to check out more Slowpokes!

Love it. Friendly service. Great lattes. Good a chicken basil sandwich that was kick ass. Nice and comfortable seating. Fantastic tunes. I give out two thumbs way up. I’ll be back.

Visited East Downtown area and wanted a place to pass a little time and get out of a rain downpour. Found this Slowpokes after a quick search; it seems newer. Got a flat white and an iced flat white. Coffee was good. The layout makes the seating seem spatious, and a calm and pleasant atmosphere, which was nice. There are parking spaces. Glad Slowpokes is growing and still has its distinct local qualities.

Amazing service from V! A really nice interior, big tables, lots of seating. Food was good and the Purple Rain drink was so good! I’d love to try more drinks and food. Glad it’s so close by we will definitely be back.

If you want to taste coffee even after you brushed your teeth 3 times.. this is the place! I ordered cold brew and added two sugars at 7:00am. I was awake and energized all day without any other caffeine til 9pm.

The place is a vibe and has great coffee! There is parking available but not a ton of spots, but it’s a really neat place to sit down and work on homework or work. I purchased the Reese’s speciality latte and it was great.

if you understand or have ever even heard of the concept of dialing in, do not come here. to the 4 different baristas i tried before giving up on this place and finally just returning my americano: it’s not your fault. it’s the franchise. there are other shops in the area that will allow you to maintain your dignity as a barista and let you serve espresso that isn’t burnt, acrid, and undrinkable. anyway if you drink flavored lattes or put milk/sugar in your coffee so you can’t taste it, you’ll be fine.

This Slowpokes location recently opened near me and I'm glad I tried it. They have ample space to work and hang out indoors and outdoors, the vibe is nice, and the aesthetic of the coffee shop is really relaxing. I'm working my way through trying all of the drinks but so far my favorite has been the Honey Lavender Latte. Slowpokes offers a wide selection of coffee drinks, and they also have teas and lemonades available. The non-coffee options are really good, they are not just an afterthought, so if you don't drink coffee I would definitely recommend trying them. I've tried a few hot teas, and some cold lemonades, all of them hit the spot! The baristas are really personable and they make great drinks. Their supporting staff is really nice as well and they go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your experience. The spaces are always clean and the area where you get your added sugars or napkins is always stocked up. I normally walk here but there is a parking lot across the street and a few spaces on the property. I often start off planning to get a to-go order but end up sitting down for a few minutes because I genuinely like hanging out there. If you're looking for breakfast, lunch, or even a light dinner they have you covered. Slowpokes sells flatbreads, kolaches, pastries, charcuterie, and quite a few other items. So far my favorite is the bagel dog. The bread is more like a croissant, so it is really flaky. Order it on a day when you don't mind getting some crumbs on your shirt haha. They also offer a $25 wine and charcuterie special, I haven't tried this yet but I'm sure I will get the opportunity soon!

I was so pleasantly surprised to find out that a slowpokes opened on the east side ! Parking: They have a parking lot though it's a bit small. There seems to be an open parking lot just across the street and street parking on the side as well. There is a bike parking rack also Seating: The inside is quite large ! Plenty of seating with a few smaller tables and several tables for larger groups. There's also bar seating. They have outdoor seating as well that is covered Food/service: I got an iced slowpoke which was pretty refreshing . It took a little while to wait for it as the place was quite busy on Sunday morning Everyone that worked there was friendly and they have a pretty extensive menu of food/drink More info: They had 2 unisex bathrooms that were clean and spacious The space seems to be wheelchair accessible There were a few pups on the patio which I loved seeing Overall a nice spot for a morning coffee as the weather gets nicer

This location is one of the newer locations of the Slowpokes. I was able to come here on a Saturday morning. I haven't been to other locations, but I really enjoyed this one! The workers were really nice, and it was very spacious inside. I got an iced chai tea latte with oat milk and the berry parfait, and both were good. The parking lot was pretty small, which wasn't issue, but I can see parking being a problem once they get a bit busier. The only con is that you only get the wifi for a two-hour window from your last purchase. It was pretty slow regardless, so I ended up just using my hotspot. Other than that, it's a nice little cafe!

Awesome new Slowpokes that has recently opened in the East End. I come into my companies' office located in EaDo every once in a while and was delighted to learn that Slowpokes was now in the area. The drinks here were amazing, I opted for the caramel apple chai and my friend the matchanana (both drinks from their current 'specials' selection). This was one of the better chai's i've tried in recent memory, I absolutely loved it. My friend seemed to enjoy their drink as well. The barista was super kind and patient with us as well since we took a minute to decide what we wanted. This place is huge. I've been to a different slowpokes location near the energy corridor and this place has them beat for space and outlets. Extremely well thought out for people who want to come in to study a bit or for a little pick-me-up chat. The only nitpick I have about slowpokes in particular is their wifi is not open to the public, you do have to buy something in order to get a receipt to log onto their network. Even then, though, you're limited to two hours before you will have to buy another item to extend your connection. Not the best choice for those who just wanna study/work outside their homes/offices. Otherwise, though, this place was awesome.

Very spacious! Great for people to hang out or get some work done. The food comes out so fast and is super tasty! The drinks are yummy and they currently have a fall special menu with pumpkin flavors I would only say that the working isn't the best when it's all taken. But they have gravel parking across the street along with street parking

After living in Houston for several years, I have never had the chance to visit any of the now seven Slowpokes locations until today. This East Downtown location, situated on the corner of Canal and N Sampson streets in a converted gas station just opened today, and what a great addition to the neighborhood. They offer a full menu of coffee, tea, wine and beer in addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner options. The inside is comfortable and open, perfect to spend a couple of hours doing work or stopping by for a bite to eat with friends or family. As a converted gas station, they have tastefully converted the outside service area to a large outdoor seating area. There's several parking spots onsite in addition to street parking on N Sampson street. At least two different Metro stops are also just a block away making it accessible to all regardless of your transportation status. When I arrived the barista was very welcoming and helped me select a beverage based on my preferences - strong caffeine, dairy free, and less sweet. I ended up going with the "with love" latte which is one of their specialty lattes with honey and cinnamon. Regardless of your beverage selection, they are able to customize sweetness to your liking. While they do have a number of milk alternatives including oat, almond, and coconut (no pistachio yet), I was slightly disappointed to see that these are an additional $1 charge. Call me stingy but this always bothers me. Overall, the drink was tasty! I'm excited to see Slowpokes join the neighborhood and will certainly be back to try their food and enjoy the patio!

This new Slowpokes is lovely! And parking was a breeze. I found a spot up front on a Friday afternoon. I imagine that won't last once word gets out about the new location. About half the folks inside were working and the other half were enjoying coffee with their friends. Inside was very spacious. The flatbread I ordered arrived quickly and was divine. Service at the counter was not friendly but the new staff may have been nervous? My out of town friend commented that she loved it except it could have been friendlier.

Yeah there's now a location in East Downtown! Discovered this place 10 years ago at the Garden Oaks first location. Been a ride or die since the start. What can I say? They had me at the sloth :) It's beyond amazing! Cool vibes, mystic beats, great folks work here and awesome folks hang out. And the food... the pretzel and the dipping sauces, oh my! Can't recommend this place enough. It's one of my favorites!!! So glad to see all the new locations that keep popping up!

Oh mannn ! such a simple yet delicious spot! I especially love their small bites and chai. I accidentally forgot to order my drink with almond milk, and they went above and beyond to replace it with a smile. The service is warm and attentive, and everything came out quickly. It's also the perfect quiet place to get some reading or work done, with plenty of space to settle into your own cozy corner.

I've been to Slowpokes a couple months ago at a different location, but decided to pop into this one to get some work done, and I was pleasantly surprised by their amble seating and outlets! There are so many tables and even individual ones with outlets right underneath. However, the parking is veryyy limited. There a small lot in front with maybe 4 spots and a side lot with maybe 6 spots. It sucks because there's so much seating but bad parking, but ig that's basically downtown summed up. I ordered the Purple Rain which is their ube and vanilla latte, and I'd honestly give it a 6/10. Presentation was great and it's a pretty latte, but I couldn't really taste any of the espresso notes or flavor through the ube or vanilla, and honestly my latte just tasted pretty milky. But the HTX Club Wrap was so yum, i'd give it an 8/10. Whatever sauce goes in there was so good- perfect amount of drench and a great crunch. I will be back

I had the breakfast tacos. The eggs were overcooked and dry. I won't make the mistake of ordering that again.

I've been waiting for this Slowpokes to open. They have done a phenomenal job using the old gas station for outdoor, shaded seating. The interior has cool artwork and antiques. They preserved the culture of East End well. There is plenty of seating inside and outside (if you're willing to bear the hot summer temps). My coffee and veggie wrap were good. I'll be back.

This is a review of the location on Stella Link near Bellaire Blvd. I've been 3x. I find it to be noisy, service is slow, and food is meh. They don't have non-fat/skim milk, so it's a no return for me.
