Slows To Go

Made a reservation and came with a group before a show at the Fox theatre. It was busy which was why we made the reservation. Our reservation was at 5:30 but we didn’t get seated until 5:58pm which put us in a rush. Our server was obviously busy so ordering, getting refills, getting the check etc.. was slow. We all ordered different combos and one person got the pulled pork sandwich. All the food was good. Very good in fact. The only thing that was a disappointment was the cornbread. It was gummy and sweet and being from Georgia that just won’t do. Also a BBQ place without sweet tea feels like a mistake as well. I do admit I may have some bias there. Sides were good especially the Mac and cheese and beans. We were a few minutes late to the show so I now know to leave a lot more time.

Slow's has the best catering - I really appreciate all the hard work and effort that goes into their dishes and their smoked meats. My absolute favorites are the brisket and the mac and cheese, but everything is very tasty and the sauces are delicious. The mac and cheese is smothered in melty cheese with crispy edges - just like Grandma wishes she could make. They use shell pasta and a thick roux-based cheese sauce. The food is always hot, fresh and on time with delivery and everyone is always so happy with them. I highly recommend.

Lip smackin’ good! Always have delicious meat from here. A la carte or sandwich, either one will be tasty.

Genuinly appalled by the fact this place is only 4.2 stars. It was some of the best barbecue I have ever had, not to mention the portion sizes for the price were fantastic. The emoloyees were quite funny as well. I had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and mac n cheese on the side. My family members each got something different, and everything was amazing. 100% will be back. Also my new favorite corn bread.

We ordered slows to go for a corporate event for 55 on a Detroit boat cruise. Food was incredible, service was great, and they were attentive to different food needs- labeling everything and adjusting the menu. Highly recommend!

As a restaurant owner myself, I'm not a big fan of seeing employees glued to their phone screen. Pick up a rag, wipe something down... I enjoyed my meal, and the service was great.

All the big TV talking head jerkoffs love this place! Wings, smoked nice fall off the bone choose your sauce. Pulled pork good on the kaiser with the slaw. Yard Bird not sure about? I'll try it again, ok not sure what the fuss is about? Its good but not that good!Take a bite and get this a breast plate middle between the shredded chicken. Slows had held the lime light for years. Time for someone new!

I'd knock my grandma down to get to this BBQ - y'all are crazy giving it any less than 5 stars! The pulled pork and mac & cheese are to die for. And the service was excellent today.

By far the best BBQ I've ever had. And I've been to Texas and this is my go to spot. Food is always delicious and service is great as well. I ordered online and as I'm walking in, I received a text message saying it was ready and indeed it was! I'm recommending Slows to all my friends and family.

We stopped by to check out how food here compares to their main location. Honestly I couldn't tell a difference. The menu is slightly smaller, I do think the name is deceiving. As there are spots to eat inside. I thought it was literally an extension of Slows where you could only get food to go. My bad! But we enjoyed it, the staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Good came out quickly, really nothing to complain about. Obviously the interior is not like the original, it's more modern and maybe a 1/4th of the size. But if you're in the mood for some Slows BBQ and don't want to wait too long to get a seat, give a try.

While the staff is very friendly, the online ordering service is so slow. I went there yesterday to pick up my order and waited 20 minutes longer than my promised time. Not to mention, my food was disgusting. My rib tips were so hard that I couldn't chew them. The mac and cheese was so dry and poorly seasoned that it was inedible. The only decent thing was the cole slaw. So, $25 on 4 ounces of cole slaw. I can't fathom going back to give them my money. It was so bad.

I ordered the rib tips meal with Mac and cheese and baked beans. The service was great. I decided to take it to go but you can smell the great smoke when you get out of your car. I knew this was going to be good and I wasn't disappointed.

My husband and I were looking forward to celebrating our third anniversary by ordering some barbecue from this special place. We called and put our order in and had some minor difficulties. Thankfully the manager at Slows to go addressed those issues in the timely fashion and resolved the matter. Now to the food! The brisket was absolutely delicious as remembered and the apple smoked chicken is on point the side mac & cheese was scrumptious with a layer of cheese baked and smoked on top. We highly suggest to any barbecue aficionado to try out Slows. Proud to support this local business.

This place has really gone down hill $20 for a sandwich and a side and can of coke. No more Charleen either .. Portions really been scaled down hard core . Everything is about half the size it use to be here

Went in on a Friday night to order togo, there was no wait to order. Parking available on site, so you don't have to pay to park. Ordered the yardbird, the reason, 16oz coleslaw, 32oz mac and cheese and two pieces of carrot cake, they offer one side of bbq sauce per sandwich. 75$/ including tip. When I got it all home it was good. Only complaint is that they don't offer choice of toast or roll for the sandwiches. By the time I got home my yardbird bun was completely soggy. I still enjoyed it but it could have been better. Inside the site was clean and staff was friendly, food came out very quickly. All in all when I need a Slows BBQ fix this is a good (not great) alternative to the sit down restaurant. Side note to Slows, you all used to offer choice of bread for sandwiches at sit down slows but do not any more. Please bring that back!!!!!! The texas toast was so much better than a soft hamburger bun. Please!!!!!!

Great spot to pick up dinner on the way home and enjoy your Slow's favorites. Need to fill my 'Yardbird' craving every so often and the sweet potato mash, Mac and cheese as sides to some excellent brisket is not to shabby either. Easy to place an order and pick up is quick and efficient. There's a couple places with bar height tables along the outside wall to stand and eat if you wanted I guess, but this location is set up to be takeout only

Smoked wings and Mac& cheese are the bomb, the baby back ribs are the explosion!!! This food id dynamite! Love it!!!

Great food as always! Ready fast and super tasty! Get the pit beans! They are a meal in itself

My favorite bbq place for years! I really don't even consider trying anywhere else since I feel nothing can beat it! Also my dad is a champion bbq dude! So it's his house or slows! My favorite is the pulled pork. Also love the Mac and cheese, waffle fries with cheese sauce, pit beans, coleslaw, and bread pudding! Just a wonderful place!

11/03/24 All imma say is exceptional food, service and the restaurant was clean and nicely kept. This is a 2Go spot off Cass but still has seating if you can't wait to get your food home or just want to chill and enjoy a quick bite. Staff was super friendly and engaging. Slow's is one of my favorite places to order catering from - the whole process is professional and the food is so delicious! Absolutely worth every penny for their hard work smoking these meats and making these homemade dishes and sauces. The mac and cheese is absolutely ridiculously good - the best in the metro area. Though they're obviously known for meat, they do have a vegan option - some sort of smoky soy-based product I believe. Quite tasty! They also have the hoppin' john which is delicious - smoked beans and rice with melted cheddar and fresh tomato and scallion. Something for everyone.

I used to love coming here, but I guess now you can only order in half pound increments for meat and the smallest side you can get is 16 oz... So unless you're buying food for a big crowd you're kind of out of luck. I remember a few years ago, getting a two meat plate with sides and that was awesome - definitely a better option for a to-go restaurant. This time I just got stuck with way more pork and cole slaw than I would have liked and didn't get to have any brisket or beans :( They gave me kind of a hard time for asking for a few different bbq sauces too. The food is still good though.

Triple Threat Pork sandwich and Brisket Enchiladas. the menu could just be those two things and I know id be fine. they're so good. I've yet to see a dip in service or quality since they've opened, always chill people and chill vibes and daaaaaaang that apple bbq sauce is just so so very very delicious... I could super troopers chug a bottle if necessary, not that I have... but, ya... would ‍ chef's kiss. Ambiance is legit.

Great food Friendly staff who greeted me with a smile. Sat at the window and watched the world go by in Downtown Detroit. Being Downtown is already a vibe. Perfect music playing to set the atmosphere.

Shrinkflation seems to have hit here too. For years Slows has been a solid local spot. Have ordered here for game days, holiday catering, walk in off the street. Today I ordered items I've had many times before and the quality was off across the board. The wings were 30% smaller than in times past. The Mac and cheese was cooked HARD, top crunchy and over done. I had two containers of it, so wasn't a one off issue, both containers the same. Brisket was 50% fat. Bummer Slows. Everyone has an off day so I'll be back hoping that's what happened, but this was disappointing. Service was solid though! Update after eating: All of the food was mid. Even the spicy BBQ sauce was just ok. I'd bet they've changed suppliers and that explains the change in quality/taste.

this food was horrible rib tips tough and dry. I can do a basic macaroni but make it wi regular macaroni not shells please. and the most horrible of all these terrible baked beans dry overly garlicky this was a very bad meal wasted food and money. Perfect these recipes or just stop selling food this was not good at all I couldn't even force myself to eat it

For Thanksgiving I got their Thanksgiving package. The Smoked Turkey was moist and delicious. We loved all of the sides, Except for the Stuffing. Way too many onions for our tastes. Maybe you can reformulate for next year? Very good overall.

I ordered online and requested it be ready at 6. It was ready 12 minutes early. Considering we had a 42 minute drive there and then again back home, I didn't want it to be done early. The food was a bit hit AND miss. My daughter's pulled pork sandwich was great (without sauce and no toppings). My other daughter LOVED the Yardbird! She went on and on about how fabulous it was, but said she didn't like the bacon because it wasn't crisp and lacked a little flavor, so she pulled it off. The mac and cheese was scrumptious-- very, very cheesy with a layer on top that looked like it'd been perfectly browned under a broiler. It was divine! The brisket was a bit dry, but the charring was fantastic and the flavor good. It was too fatty though, and not in a good way. We often order wet brisket elsewhere and it's not like this. Likewise, the pulled pork was extra fatty, and I should have ordered it dry because it was sitting in oil and I didn't care for the flavor of whatever sauce was on it. I was sad that corn bread wasn't on the menu and hope it returns. We usually go to Slows on MI Ave, but will return here again if we want carry out. So, it wasn't a great experience, but overall the food was pretty good. And I must add that after I reached out to Slows, THEY CARED and it prompted me to raise my score from a 3 to a 4.

I had stopped going to "Slow's" for some time because the food was over cooked and the staff was unfriendly. I took a chance because I use to really enjoy there wings and I'm glad I did. The Service was great friendly and efficient and food was fresh and hot. Thank you, Slow's!

It's always a winner whether it's Slows sit down or Slows to Go. I've had the brisket, chicken and the vegan BBQ. They are all great. The sides are awesome and flavorful. Service and ambiance is good as well. ​

Slows never disappoints! The pulled pork and mac and cheese is my favorite. Whenever I'm in Detroit, I have to stop and get some slows to go! Not only is there food great, their customer service is always fast and friendly.

Order a quick dinner and it was truly tasty delicious. I had to warm up my pulled pork but that's okay better to soak in the bbq sauce. I also order a house salad with the honey jalapeños vinaigrette Walked in my order was ready. Customer service was friendly and fast. She double checked the order and I was on my way.

Yardbird sandwich is always a favorite when you want something other than the standby order of ribs! The apple BBQ sauce is great on either! Fast and efficient pick-up with a convenient lot immediately north of the building at the Midtown Detroit location.

I was craving BBQ and decided to order from Slows, what a feast! I have tried most of the items on the menu and they all have been outstanding. Even the house salad was superb, it felt like it was put together with love and pride.

best BBQ in town!! The sauces are amazing-- especially apple bbq sauce. my top favorite item for over 20 years is the Yardbird sandwich! the pork & beans are the best anywhere! I love the convenience of Slows 2 Go.

The Thanksgiving meal we purchased was perfect. It fed our family and in laws plenty. The taste was just like going out to Slows. Thank you for your friendly service and the opportunity!

Fantastic B B Q ! All there choices are Soooo Delicious Super fast service. I love there Baby back ribs with Spicy bbq sauce.

It's not fussy or pretentious, it's just really good barbecue. Any meat. Any time. My son and I ordered beef and pork by the half pound along with sides for a great dinner to enjoy while watching Dune II on our home big screen. A winning combo for a Boys' Night In.

Slow's To Go has saved my sanity during the pandemic. It is a little return to normalcy to be able to stop there and pick up a well-made and substantial meal, even if I have to eat it at home and not in their fun restaurant. I am partial to the Yardbird chicken sandwich without the bacon, but I am told the ribs and brisket are both quite good. Their macaroni and cheese is not to be messed, definitely one of favorite items, along with the perfectly spiced (Just salt and pepper, but what can I say it's well done) coleslaw. Their carrot cake is also pretty phenomenal.

Easy to order on the website. Always friendly service at Slow's. I've been going to Slow's for 20+ years and their Brisket is top shelf!!! Do your taste buds a favor and get u some brisket from Slow's BBQ

AMAZING! Flavorful BBQ and nice portions. We had a variety of wings, brisket, pulled chicken, brisket enchiladas, burnt ends and different bbq sauces to go for a catering. Can't wait to come back!

I ordered cold ribs with reheating instructions, as a gift. The order was perfect, the service amazing!

They don't wear gloves nor hair nets when preparing food so it's a no for me. It's unfortunate because I have heard nice reviews about the meats.
