The Best Places To Drink In Dalston - London - The Infatuation

"Slurp is a wine bar that, unlike most places around Dalston, has got a massive covered front yard for you to enjoy something sparkling, orange, or whatever else in the great outdoors. It’s right next to 40 FT brewery and the Dusty Knuckle, so if you’re day drinking you can also be day munching. Drinks-wise, the wine list out front regularly changes, but there are about 50-odd different bottles in the cellar at all times in a space that can easily fit over a hundred people." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing

The experience was a 5. Fantastic food - even better portion sizes! Timely service, and very attentive. Bento fixing’s were very good - a nice selection.

Good mid-range restaurant with lots of options from Chinese, Japanese and Thai food. A little hideaway, as it is hidden behind a bus stop and the name doesn't give much away! Customer service was great, very attentive. Food was delightful, so much so, forgot to take many! Green tea is free in the restaurant (it is the only hot drink available). Will happily go again - highly recommended!

I have come to this place for years now. I mainly get delivery from them (I’m lazy) but whether it’s to eat in or delivery, the quality is absolutely amazing. The portions are HUGE. Worth your money. At this day and age in London it’s hard to find a place where the food is amazing and the prices are fair. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Food comes quickly where it’s delivery or eating in. I will continue recommending this place to people as it will forever have my loyalty <3

All the food here tastes really authentic and delicious. I’m from Northern part of Thailand and this is one of the best Thai noodle restaurants I’ve tried. The interior and atmosphere is really cool. Also, the staff and their services are incredibly amazing especially for the staff named Win. He is super friendly, approachable and attention to details for the clients. I would recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and I’ll definitely come back to try the other menus for sure.

I love slurp. I love it so much. All my siblings love slurp. Food is great, portions are amazing, the chilli oil I am addicted to it. I think slurp should look into having a Korean menu as well. Long live slurp.

The last time we were here we were greeted by the friendly and professional staff. The restaurant is clean and fresh, and offers a menu of appetising Chinese and Thai dishes. We can in a group and ordered a selection of mixed starters to share including spare ribs, chicken wings, squid, prawns and spring rolls. Can't wait to return... On our return the food is as good as it has ever been and the starters are amazing especially with the fried garlic bits and pickled veg. The Thai green chicken curry and house noodles were also great 👍 We visited Slurp in April 2023 and had a fabulous lunch of starters including Salt & Pepper Squid, Chicken Wings and Prawns, Barbecue Spare Ribs and Gyoza. Delicious 😋

I had a lovely time and the food was tasty and there was lovely and friendly staff members. The food tasted delicious and it’s a great place to go with friends and family and the size portions are big and they provide takeaway boxes if you can’t finish your food.

Google
Good food, large portions. I enjoyed the starters more than I did my main. Don't bother ordering any of the fruit juices they aren't good. Customer service is quite slow but it's a great place to go in groups or with a bunch of kids. Overall good experience would go again and order starters (chicken wings, springroll etc..) and some special fried rice.

Yelp
I have been to the Slurp restaurant several times before and recommended it to family and friends, mainly because I have generally been happy with the food. The service, however, has always been indifferent, a bit hit and miss, where the staff sometimes forget part of your order or they lack a reasonable level of good quality service, almost to the point where you have to show them what to do, (all in good spirit) i.e. a right handed person serving you on your left side and exposing you to their arm pit and smelling body odor (ghastly stuff). My last two visits have been worrying in that having ordered rice (among other things) and upon eating it found that it was not right, the texture was spongy and it had no taste. I had to return it on both occasions. The Manager (male) apologized, removed it from the bill and brought a dessert as a gesture free of charge (good man). It is because of the manager and his desire to provide good service if things go wrong, the reason why I returned to this restaurant. My most recent visit, however, was a disaster. The manager was not there on this occasion and all hell broke loose. I made my usual order but the rice was just not right. I literally only ate 2 or 3 small bite size portions for taste and it was just spongy with little or no taste. I asked the waitress (black girl) to take it away. When I received the bill, the Chinese lady who appeared to be in charge insisted I pay for the rice because she claimed I had eaten over half of it.This was simply not true and she was clearly 'reaching'. She then called the waitress (black girl) who became animated and shouted at me saying I've returned the rice on 2 previous occasions, which only endorsed my previous concerns that perhaps there is something wrong or something more sinister with the rice. But what was most outrageous and completely unacceptable was not only what was being said to me by both staff members, but the sheer aggression and ignorant manner they exhibited. They stood over me whilst I was sitting at the table and shouted in ear shot of other guests saying I must pay for the rice. I was utterly shocked and numb by their behavior. I felt bullied and utterly humiliated. I was given the option of paying the full bill or told not to come back. Needless to say, I will not be going back and will be informing my family and friends of this incident. You may like the rice, I didn't. Visited February 2017

Yelp
The name Slurp gave me the impression that this would be inauthentic Asian food, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food here is fresh and light, not overly fried, battered or greasy. My favorites are the dumplings, salt and pepper prawns and squid. So many great seafood options! The ramen is where I have to draw the line, though. It's not the best I've had. But then again, I am a bit of a ramen whore in multiple continents so, I get around. The decor is zen and modern and the servers are all really sweet and attentive. Solid overall!

Yelp
Slurp is my favourite spot in Streatham. From the outside it always looks like a bar but inside the decor is like Wagamamas. The menu is a hybrid of Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine. I usually go for one of the bento boxes as for £11 you have a huge variety of food, with a main, rice, salad, edamame beans and gyoza. It even comes with a miso soup to start with. The service can be a little slow sometimes but other than that I would definitely recommend Slurp!

Yelp
I'm going to have to say that Slurp is one of those places that's a jack of all trades and master of few (not none since the green curry I had was okay) but nonetheless not great. We were strapped for choices this past weekend on route to the cinema in Streatham. We had a peep in and it look relatively busy (which is usually a good sign right?) Wrong. I had the seafood green curry which was good, but then again I've never really had a 'bad' green curry - I think it's one of those dishes that is actually quite hard to mess up. The other half ordered a 'nasi goreng' which for some reason fell under the 'thai' category of the menu?! Now, his looked the part but unfortunately did not taste the part other than the sunny side egg that lay on top. Upon leaving we hadn't noticed just how rammed it had gotten and struggled to get someone's attention for the bill. When it eventually arrived we were then again neglected. We had to walk up to the counter to pay (a sign of bad service for me unless it's one of those hole in the wall places where you KNOW that is the way to pay). Plus, after the 15mins of waiting at the table and near movie start time what choice did we have? They then did not have a card machine available as a waitress was using it elsewhere so again we waited. I cannot say this will be a re-visit. I will settle for Nandos (which I love) across the road pre-movie dining next time.

Yelp
Good mix of asian food: thai, chinese, an japanese (but no sushi!) had the udon noodles which were very tasty. Service was above average but not amazing. Just not sure about the name. However it puts enough people off that its often not too busy

Yelp
Always a great eating experience, the menu doesn't need to change because it's the perfect balance of all the best dishes from Chinese, Japanese and Thai. Would always recommend going for the ramen soup, with the salmon and prawn version being a personal favourite. The starter menu is all good with the yasai gyoza being particularly delicious, as is the salt and pepper squid if you are a fan of chilli! Great value as a party of 3 ate for under £50 with starters and mains with drinks for everyone. One of my favourite places to eat in south London.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised to find such a little treasure of a place in Streatham! I have to admit that I only had a takeaway but I was extremely impressed by the quality of the food and indeed the presentation of it. There seemed to be lots of choice on the menu. everything from Sushi to curry all at credit crunch prices.even better!! I will definitely be going back!

Yelp
Slurp is one of those places where you always know what you're gonna get. It has a mixed menu of Chinese, Japanese and Thai dishes, which are great value, honest and well cooked. It's one of those places which you'd eat regularly at midweek if you couldn't be bothered to cook, or were going to the cinema, or catching up with local friends - or a place you'd get take out from on a Fri or Sat if you were having a quiet night in with a DVD. And given the lack of any decent Chinese takeaways in Streatham, Slurp is a welcomed addition to the high st. However, it's not a place to go to if you wanted to go for dinner as a night out, or wanted an amazing Chinese / Thai / Japanese - to me, it just isn't that "destination" place where you'd go for something that was a little bit special. Don't get me wrong, I like the food, and I get food from Slurp quite regularly - however I'm not sure I've ever been there to eat in on a Fri or Sat night - like I have at Oishi down the road. Slurp is a good, functional place for food for me - but that's about as far as it goes for me.

Yelp
Huge portions, well cooked tasty food. Cheap! An excellent place for a good meal. Goes onto my frequent visit list. Meal for one with drink costs 10 quid.

Yelp
I guess the place is nice me and girlfriend had chinese for starters and then on to the Thai curry's. Very nice but i can't say the same for the Chinese starters. Not sure if they were spring rolls more like just batter. Service from staff was good with a smile. I will go back but just for the currys.

Yelp
I usually have take aways on my day off, mostly of my working days are spent in a kitchen, cooking and trying different kinds of food. Personally, slurp was a good experience. Ramen was well proportioned, tasty and kept simple as it is. Chinese, Japanese and Thai are not really a type of cuisine where u can eat as fine dining. It's a great place to take friends in, or the girlfriend. Various items, various processes of working the food. I thought if I wanted better, I would just cook it myself ;) simple and relaxed atmosphere. Great for a before theatre session.

Yelp
Slurp is my favourite place to eat. They do a lunch and a drink for £6 and the portion sizes are the same as those you get for dinner. I also enjoy the fact they deliver locally so I can enjoy their food in my own home! I would recommend the pad thai as I have yet to find a better one locally. Slurp for the win!!!

Yelp
I've only ever had the rameyon here and I must say that they do a mean bowl of noodles. Chilli beef rameyon is one of the better things that has happened in my life. I imagine that the other dishes on the menu may be equally as delicious, but that's a chance I'm not going to take. I love this place!

Yelp
I am so glad to have found this place! Matt B and I have been here twice since I moved to London. Both times I got the teriyaki salmon bento box. It's totally delicious and comes with: rice, salmon, edamamae, cucumber/seaweed salad, and dumplings. It's a ton of food--basically two meals. It's always been a little crowded--because it's delicious. I had the fried squid strips last time too. They come with a sweet and sour sauce and they're pretty amazing. Definitely recommended checking out Slurp!

Qype User (amuchm…)

Yelp
This is essentially an independent version of Wagamama - wooden benches, various different kinds of Eastern cuisine. When I went the food was OK, but nothing particularly special. Perfectly OK if you fancy noodles and don't want to travel further afield to a Wagamama, but I would consider walking up Streatham Hill to Oishii, which does sushi and Japanese/Thai noodles, and has nicer food and atmosphere in my opinion.
google avatar

Qype User (Jagell…)

Yelp
Excellent food from a wide menu covering Japanese, Thai and Chinese. The bento boxes and the ramen are superb. Seating is similar to Wagamama's with long benches and shared tables. Well-priced and with friendly staff. It's worth making a trip to Streatham Hill to check this place out.

Yelp
I had two times take away from here. The quality of the food was OK. I plan to go for a dinner, but I don't have enough time for now so I will keep on the takes away.

Yelp
The best place to go in Streatham Hill. Excellent food, friendly staff, good value for money. I go there at least once a week and often order take away- very quick service.
google avatar

Qype User (Brad…)

Yelp
boring - Jack of all trades and master of none. good hangover food and when you're not craving anything in particular there is a wide variety on offer. Peronally dont like sitting on a table with other people unless the food is outstanding like Fujiyama in Brixton. A shame because Streatham really lacks a decent Chinese restaurant and this just misses the mark for some reason.

Yelp
Surprisingly delightful despite it's name! Don't judge a book by its cover (or restaurant by its name) It has excellent portions and varied Thai, Chinese and Japanese menu so everyone can find something they like. Can recommend the udon noodles and speedy home delivery.

Yelp
Lets support this place, nice people, good product and speedy service, what more do we need!
