We had Small Oven Bakery take care of our wedding cake and couldn't be happier. Daisy did an amazing job meeting with us and figuring out what we liked. She was able to accommodate the idea we had for our cake and it turned out perfectly! Everyone at the wedding couldn't stop talking about how much they loved it. The frosting was particularly amazing, and unlike a lot of cakes where the frosting is too thick and sugary the italian buttercream that Small Oven used was incredibly delicious and soft. The price was very fair and they were able to deliver our cake for a little extra, it was nice to not have to worry about it. Have also been in here for the cupcakes before too and they were also delicious. Will have to return at some point for breakfast.

Google
i got three loafs. they were all incredible. this is my new favorite spot, and i will be driving the distance to come here often because it is worth it. probs some of the best bread i’ve had in my life

Google
The brioche bun with the egg breakfast sandwich is the star that literally holds its delicious co-stars together. Was convinced by the kind staff to try the peach cinnamon scone and am very grateful for the coaxing. Ham/kale/parmesan quiche was fluffy, cheesy, goodness on a flaky, homemade crust. We were first timers and will be back soon. Go early and often.

Google
Thank you so much for creating the most beautiful cake! I ordered lavender with raspberry buttercream and it was SO delicious, everyone loved it :)

Google
My new favorite Saturday morning stop. The pastry selection is incredible and there’s usually something for everyone. I appreciate that they have decaf espresso so I can still pretend to drink caffeine while I nibble on a freshly baked pain au chocolat. Arrive early, they sell out fast!

Google
Small Oven Bakery offers delightful baked goods and sandwiches. The lemon tart boasts a perfect balance of tangy citrus and creamy richness, nestled in a flaky crust. The thick-cut bacon avo sandwich is a winner, featuring bouncy sourdough and a zesty potato salad. While the food is top-notch, the small space might not be ideal for dining in.

I ordered a Red Velvet cake from Small Oven which I picked up today Sunday April 6 2025 to celebrate 2 birthdays. There was 15 people, the cake was AMAZING everyone could not stop saying how delicious and how great it looked. Honestly, this was the best cake we have likely ever eaten. It was perfect!! We thank Small Oven for their perfection.

Google
Our wedding cake was DELICOIUS and beautiful. We got a 6 inch for us to cut and a half sheet for guests and everyone LOVED it. A delicious spice cake with apple compote and the best cream cheese frosting ever! Also, bonus fun to support a local queer-owned bakery!

Yelp
Just enjoyed a fabulous hunk of pastry at small oven. Cornmeal blueberry pound cake. Seasonal, bright with lemon and tart with fresh blueberries. It was a bit mind blowing really! Well done!

Yelp
After reading the reviews, I had to stop here when we were nearby. I got their roasted squash sandwich with a cappuccino for lunch and a loaf of VT wheat for later. The folks that work there are very friendly and helpful. The sandwich was amazing! Messy to eat but a wonderful combination of flavors. The coffee was so good I ended up purchasing a pound of beans as a gift for my husband. If you are in the vicinity of this bakery, definitely check them out.

Yelp
Would give them 10 stars if I could. Really unique desserts. Very talented baristas who actually know how to make a latte. Very good and inclusive vibe. Vegetarian options. They are great

Yelp
We found this bakery after several restaurants in Northampton swore by their bread. It's unassuming from the front - it's located on what must have originally been a beautiful bustling street, a few doors down from a chain grocery store, and a few tables and chairs for outdoor eating. The interior is a well oiled machine - a place to order, and long tables to pick up your bagged orders. There's even a water station. The food is delicious - I will one day recover from the pickled jalapenos that somehow got on my egg sandwich because the rest of the ingredients were amazing. The roll was very crumbly, so prepare napkins. Place an order for one of their loaves of bread, because they will make a perfect accompaniment to your dinner or lunch during the week!

Yelp

Yelp
This place is a true gem. When I hear "artisanal" and "local" buzzwords, I tend to be skeptical, but Small Oven delivered way above my expectations. Ham and Middlebury Blue Cheese Sandwich: Super delicious! I believe this was served on their own sourdough bread, and it made all the difference. The ham was fresh and plentiful, and the pickled onions added a really nice touch to the overall flavor. The blue cheese was really creamy/smooth and tasted high quality as well. This comes with potato salad or sweet greens (add ~$2 for greens). I had the potato salad which was tasty and had plenty of veggies, but I would add something to make it a little creamier (minor suggestion). Vegetarian Croissant: Really good as well. For just ~$3, we could not resist. The croissants here are some of the best we have had (ever?? perhaps); they are slightly crunchy and flaky on the outside, with a light and buttery inside, as you would typically want with a croissant. The cheese and kale were good additions. One suggestion would be to try spinach instead of kale, as spinach tends to provide more flavor. Ham and Cheese Croissant: Same croissant comments here. Very good addition for ~$3. Highly recommend adding either croissant to your meal. The ham and cheese went well with the croissant. Relative to the size of the croissant (pretty large), there could be a bit more cheese and ham (this goes for the vegetarian croissant as well), but otherwise no suggestions. Price: 5/5 Quality: 5/5 Quantity: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

Yelp
I love this place. Each dish is delicious and creative. Their breakfast sandwich is amazing. Love their specialty lattes. I had their lavender cake for my bday and my friends all loved it. A true gem. Oh and their bread is everything bread should be and more!

Yelp
It was a fairly cold day and I decided we would have homemade soup for dinner. The first thing I thought of to go with a delicious homemade soup is a fantastic loaf of delicious bread. I stopped by small oven and picked up two loaves of fresh bread. I picked a cranberry walnut and a sourdough. Both were crusty and chewy with delicious flavor. Great with the soup. Also great toasted. The people there were very nice and helpful and I would highly recommend.

Yelp
The Greater Northampton area is rich in bakeries and bookstores. One of the finest bakery-cafes is the Small Oven. While its footprint is small, its seasonal varieties reach out across many baking traditions. Unlike most bakeries that purchase pre-made croissant dough, Small Oven makes its own which gives it a fresh, crisp texture. Their sandwiches are epic, large in size and flavorful. My favorite is the ham and Berkshire Blue. Small Oven probably created the local demand for cardamon buns, which aren't really buns, but lovely, twisted strips of dough with the most fantastic flavor.

Yelp
I love their baked goods whether at their shop or at the various cafes who rely on them. I just wish they stayed open later. Try the breakfast treat with cardamom .

Yelp
Love this spot. Excellent, personable staff serving exceptional baked goods with a smile. Love that it's a true neighborhood spot. Sourdough is stellar. Preserved lemon salad is a must!

Yelp
Hands down the best crusty bread and buttery flaky pastries in the Valley. I've been enjoying small oven for years now and have yet to try something and not like it. A wonderful gem of a local bakery. Truly fresh and magnificent pastries. If you go here and are struggling to decide what to get here are some of our favorites: almond croissant, ham and cheese croissant, their cinnamon roll things....I mean heck really you can't go wrong with anything here. I'm getting hungry writing this review....

Yelp
I was having a rough morning and Small Oven's hearty, rich, SCRUMPTIOUS vegetarian borscht, along with it's crusty, squishy buttered whole grain tender buttered bread companion, literally renewed my faith in the world. The staff Got It when I shared my feelings. What a wonderful place--and hopefully place to work, too.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place by happenstance and oh man- yes- it is SO GOOD! Thank goodness for Serendipity. This was the precious, delicious, unsuspecting cafe I have been looking for: 1) UnREAL baked goods. The chocolate croissant was still warm and delightfully flakey 2) My breakfast was simple, well seasoned, and very satisfying. The greens were lightly dressed and the eggs & tomatoes had the right amount of salt and pepper 3) the environment was very unpretentious and was quite calm and quiet despite there being at least 7 customers there (it's a small space) and an open kitchen/bakery. One baker was making buns and other some kind of fondunt. 4) Homemade ginger lemon iced tea Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
I can't speak enough about them owning the breakfast sandwich game far and near, but they make amazing cakes as well!!! That cake was delicious and beautiful. Thank you for the quality in all that you do.
google avatar

Krista B.

Yelp
The best people work there. And the food is always changing and always amazing. The sticky buns are a mist if you're undecided. .

Yelp
The croissants here are pure heaven! Best I've had outside of France. Coffee is really good too. We've loved all of the pastries we've tried here but make sure you come early because they do sell out quickly.

Yelp
Christmas eve morning with an avacado toast and a latte! The staff couldn't be friendlier or more pleasant to be around! It smells amazing in there and you just want to try everything they have fresh and yummy! Support our local business, Dunken doesn't need another penny! And trust me it's worth getting out of your car for!

Yelp

Yelp
Amanda and the team are awesome. They serve some of the best pastries I'v had , and the Lux sandwich in the morning in definitely a winner. Love this place

Yelp
Some of the best muffins/sticky buns/cookies you will ever have! Recently bought a zucchini & currant muffin and a seasonal blueberry and corn cookie, and they were both the perfect balance of buttery, sweet, and salty. Both had nice crispy exteriors. The muffin was not *too* sweet. Also, great lunch sandwiches! A must try!!

Robin L.

Yelp
Food is delicious, friendly wait staff. Deserts are to be experienced. Will go back for more!

Yelp
I ordered a cake for my 21st birthday and it was so much more delicious than I could've hoped. The mix of the lavender flavoring and the way the frosting just melted in your mouth was perfect. I will definitely be ordering again!

Jonah A.

Yelp
Nice food, chill place, great iced tea and sandwich. Just what you'd expect and want from a small Cafe! Sandwich was great and iced tea wasn't too sweet.

Yelp
This place is pretty solid. I normally just get their bread with the cheddar and parmesan rosemary being my personal faves. Ambiance/Staff: Place has several small tables with seating in the high teens. The staff was patient and willing to answer my any questions that I could think of. Food: I did stop in for lunch with the lady after a Mt Tom hike. We split the brisket sandwich. Very good flavors and the only thing I would do to improve this is actually tearing the cilantro leaves off of the stem. I don't need a solid 4" piece of stem on my sandwich... take the extra 30sec your patrons will appreciate it. The potato salad wasn't a knockout but certainly not a bad representation. I also got a plain latte that was decent. Overall: A pretty good place to grab breakfast or lunch made with real ingredients and fresh bread. If I was more local I would definitely haunt their establishment more often. If driving by swing in for a tasty meal or delicious loaf of bread.

Yelp
God, this place is good. Their coffee is amazing, I always get a dirty chai and never have to add milk or sugar to it as it is perfectly strong and bitter yet just sweet enough. I've had the pain au levain, Grafton smoked cheddar, and rosemary parm sourdough breads, all amazing; their chocolate eclairs are great too. The star of the show is the breakfast sandwich (add bacon), served til 11:30, get there early enough to have it on a croissant before they run out as it truly makes a difference. Lunch sandwiches are good too; I'm partial to the prosciutto sandwich with gremolata. Staff is friendly and attentive. Always a pleasant experience!

Yelp
Without disclosing too much about myself I am a member of a protected class and when I went in one of the owners said my partner could not be there.I felt extremely unwelcome. I did protests and was eventually served a brisket which was tasty. I felt terrible that I was not able to take full advantage of the experience. Also, until indoor dining reopens outdoor seating quite noisy next to Road. #boycott small oven!

Yelp
Excellent coffee. Beautiful, expertly done pastry. I brought an assortment of breakfast bakes to a family brunch party and everyone was blown away. Quality and craftsmanship!!!

Yelp
This place is nuts! Like everything is awesome! I had this salad and a coffee and the salad was so simple but perfect in every way. I could eat the shit out of there stuff all week!

Yelp
Amazing bakery/sandwich and lunch place. Freshly baked breads and rolls for sandwiches and amazing healthy entrées. Can't beat it for lunch.

Yelp
The bread is ok- the baguette is nothing special; the 5-grain is good. Their croissants, cakes and other pastries are very good. Don't order a coffee and expect to get it quickly. Your order goes into the queue, so if you're behind several people with large orders you may be waiting 20+ minutes for an iced coffee. Basically, they're ordering system could use some work. Some of the staff is a little rude, but things are crazy right now due to covid so who knows what struggles are taking place behind the scenes. Also, the sign on the door states a 5 guest maximum in the store at one time- this is not being enforced. I probably won't be going back unless ordering gets more streamlined and they're are less people shoving their way into the cafe.

Marilyn B.

Yelp
We ordered two layer cakes for a family celebration. Not only were the cakes delicious, they were beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. Our guests loved the lemon cakes, one with a chocolate ganache filling and frosting, the other with a buttercream filling and frosting. The cakes had a delicate lemon flavor and were not overly sweet. Staff were helpful and professional and we were able to order the cakes over the phone. Would highly recommend Small Oven for their delicious breads and cakes.

Yelp
Small Oven in Easthampton is the kind of place you hope to discover when you travel. It's small, probably seats about 20, very quaint with a really nice all natural food vibe. The menu is limited, consisting of healthy salads, a small selection of sandwiches, and a few breakfast items. This is the second time I've visited, and I was not disappointed. Last time I was here my friend had the chickpea and grapefruit open faced sandwich, and she raved about it. I ordered it this time, and it did not disappoint. The seemingly disjointed ingredients of grapefruit and chick pea blend so well on top of the crunchy fresh baguette making for a deliciously light and healthy sandwich which is served with a side of fresh greens. The salads all look pretty nice. One of my party had the quiche which unfortunately was burnt on the bottom and nothing really special. This is a cute place that is nice for a light lunch.

Jeanne T.

Yelp
Whoa I had the best "sandwich" here, if not the best in my life then at least in a very long time. It wasn't a sandwich so much as hummus toast with vegan yumminess all over it. There were bites with preserved lemon, which is now one of my favorite things, and occasionally something sweet, and the greens on top were fresh and perfectly dressed. My daughter had the egg and cheese sandwich, which was also delicious. I wish I lived nearby but I'll definitely be back when visiting the area in the future!

Yelp
Small ovens food and baked goods are consistently delicious, and their staff is friendly and generous.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Ingredients are largely locally sourced. People are friendly. Come here for real food.

Cyn C.

Yelp
This was our once-a-week breakfast treat before Covid. Would like to reinstate the tradition, but still being cautious. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious and filling. Last time we were there (2 years ago, so take this with a grain of salt) the coffee was not great. But the food makes up for that.

Yelp
Again Small Oven delivers! Went for Sunday breakfast today and was surprised by bfast being as good and maybe better than already my favorite lunch spot! Omg I kept asking Amanda--'what is that you just served ?' And three times she said 'toast and eggs' Each plate looked more and more delicious--yet was the same dish!! The soft boiled eggs are an egg perfection!!! We had the Tourtine and it was a breakfast for a queen!!! Again soft boiled egg, of course amazing bread, crazy bean spread and tasty arugula with some veggies. Ah-mazing! I really can't say enough about this breakfast. Best best best breakfast! Thanks Julie and Amanda. Oh, and a simple espresso!!! Yum!!!

Yelp
Wonderful lunch spot. Not quite as good as Hungry Ghost, but I like that it is in downtown Easthampton.

Yelp
This place is adorable. staff is so kind it is just altogether a cool place and I dont LOVE the food but it is still good

Wendy S.

Yelp
The best food of any kind in Easthampton, easy. Everything is good. And Sunday pizza nights have been a welcome addition. I only wish they had longer hours.

Yelp
I love this food! Everything is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and pleasant. I will definitely return.!

Mona L.

Yelp
Excellent. Fabulous bread, yummy sandwiches. We had turkey melt, ham and cheese, both fresh with himemade sides and fresh pickled veggies. Great coffee yoo.

Heather F.

Yelp
Cute little bakery with a few seats/tables outside. Limited menu. Taste was good but item was over baked.
google avatar

Norco B.

Yelp
Excellent breads at this little bakery, however they sell out early very often. This is a problem. I've been here many times trying to get 1 loaf of bread. A line of people with others who want the same thing. All told they are out of all bread except for sandwiches. And I'm talking about being here at 10-11am...

Simo C.

Yelp
This is my favorite bakery! Love coming here for breakfast and lunch, all menu options are amazing and the coffee tastes great too! Plus, the whole staff is incredibly nice!! Small oven rocks

Karen J.

Yelp
This is a very friendly little place. That's why I gave it 3 stars. Luckily the cappuccino was only $2.75 as it was one of the most depressing cappuccinos I've come across in this area. I had a ginger scone which was very dense and I ended up throwing it out. All the other baked goods ...croissants etc was baked towards the " burned side " so I wasn't tempted to get that either. I can't see myself coming back.
