The Smallworks team was very pleasant to work with. We had lots of input throughout the design process and they were accommodating of our many requests. The attention to detail during the build is exceptional, so the end result is beautiful. You can absolutely build a house for less money, but you won't get near this quality. The design is intelligent and well-considered so that the space actually feels larger and more livable than some places we have occupied that had higher square footage. We absolutely love our new home!

We had a lovely laneway built for a rental and in the future our potential home 6 years ago. We interviewed 3 laneway companies and decided to go with Laneways because 1)loved their home designs the best 2)very organized 3)selection process for the laneway home from siding to facets was easy. We loved the end product and have had a steady tenant the whole time. No problems. Would give them 10/10 if we could.Highly recommend.

Smallworks did a wonderful job from start to finish of designing and building my laneway house. For what would normally be a much more involved process, especially dealing with the city and permitting, they made building a house more simple and less stressful for the homeowner. I was very impressed with David's creative design of the house and Claudio's meticulous site management. Everyone was very flexible and accommodating, and the contractors did an exceptional job with great attention to detail.

We were considering buying a property on which to build a laneway and Robbie was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient in evaluating different properties virtually to save us time in having to go see them if they would not fit our requirements. We ultimately ended up finding a property with a laneway already built so can't speak to their build time or working with them but can say that they had built the one on the property that we're getting and it looks beautiful! Thanks for all your help!

Dream becomes true with Smallworks. It took one year to design and get permits, another 7 months to build, but it’s definitely worth for waiting. The on-site coordinator is fabulous! He took care everything, and make sure the progress is on track. Do visiting their projects, and you’ll love the design and quality of the work like we do!

It is almost 6 years since our beautiful Smallworks Laneway house was completed. We thought we would write a review now to let people know how the attention to detail that the Smallworks folks are known for pays off. It turned out to be a great design and very well executed. Without exception, the people were wonderful to work with. All of our friends and family members who've stayed there have fallen in love with the place. Some folks in the neighbourhood have told us they like the way it fits in - and refer to it as the "beautiful little blue house". Thank you to Jake and his team. After surviving a house renovation nightmare we watched our neighbour have Smallworks build a laneway home that ran like clockwork-on time and on budget. However we weren't entirely convinced since we were after a different kind of design. Jake allayed our fears and his team met the design challenges with expertise and creativity. I was in awe of all the excellent trades that came through-doing their work no matter the weather! It was apparent that in the seemingly unethical construction business that honest, good people attract other good people! We have very much enjoyed our lovely laneway studio/home and everyone that comes through also appreciates the beauty of the building. What they can't see is how well it is built and how easily maintained. We are deeply grateful to Jake and his team!! Janet Willson

My Buyers just finalized a deal on one of Chris's properties. It was a real pleasure working with him and his team. The quality of craftsmanship was by far above and beyond all the rest of the homes that we looked at. Looking forward to doing another deal with you guys!
