Smashie's Burgers

Don’t waste your time, literally. I had a little free time today before a flight. Figured I’d walk the pier and grab some lunch. Didn’t think I had enough time for a sit down meal, so grab something quick right? Well this place was the wrong choice. 3 people in line, took forever to order. Should have tipped me off. Finally order, almost $30 for double burger with bacon, fries, and a medium soda. Figure I’ll get my food and eat on a bench, enjoy the view. Wrong. Almost 25 minutes to get my food. 6 people in the kitchen, walking around looking at each other, like 4 burgers on the grill. Asked twice where my food was, blank stares and no reply. Was at the counter to ask for my money back when I finally got my food. Mediocre burger at best, with no toppings, decent fries, no refill on soda I drank while waiting 25 minutes. Pass on this place, go somewhere else.

Incompetent workers who got BOTH of my orders wrong. I asked for one burger with no onions and another double burger plain. They only gave me one patty on my double and put onions on BOTH of my burgers. So not only did they make my order wrong, they gave me LESS than what I paid for by giving me a single when I paid for a double. Then when I tried to ask them to fix it, they continued to try to gaslight me saying “You didn’t order it like that.” even though the receipt reflected how I ordered. Regardless the food was alright, but I would not come again.

I went with the LA dog which is a hotdog wrapped in bacon with a generous portion of sauteed onions and peppers and a garlic fries. I love garlic and always put 10x the amount required in all recipes so was blown away when they put more garlic on than I would! They were super tasty but super oily and was dripping through the bottom of the tray (and leaked/left marks on my shorts). A decent size line but moved fairly quickly. Food was better than expected from carnival like food vendors.

This is so good omgggg it only took 8 mins too!

Fries where ok. Ordered a plain double and they gave me a single with onions and when I went back to ask for it to be remade they got mad and said that’s not what I ordered. And the guy working register kept forgetting what I wanted right after saying what I wanted.

Smashe’s is a joke. Two flat burger with only one patty and cheese, no lettuce, tomato or onion. fries is not crispy but still and hard. I would never forget this terrible experience. McDonald is way better than this.

The cashier we got was obviously being trained and not sufficiently, in my opinion. I unfortunately got a Smashie Burger which was $10 and did not come with fries. You have to add a combo or fries for an additional cost. Both our cashiers (trainee and trainer) did not ask nor mention adding anything on to our order. So my party of 3 unknowingly didn't get fries with our order. When I was made aware after waiting over 15 minute for our 3 items I was just looked at when I said we wanted fries. I asked what can we do because we all wanted fries and we were not made aware of the need to make every item on the menu a combo or add onto them. He looked confused, mumbled to himself and walked away. What I assume was a manager came over and said we needed to make it a combo or add on fries then walked away. Very unaccomidating and not professional. With how I was treated we decided NOT to add on anything. We will not be returning to get food here! Picture of my $10 burger has been added.

We order 2 burger combos and one hot dog we only wanted the hotdog with cheese and sauce and the girl only put no mustard We didn't ask for anything special on the burgers but she put whatever she wanted for us didn't even care to listen to what i was telling her I got a burger with no sauce and onions when that was specifically what we were going to this place for, they're grilled onions and sauce They probably can't hear because everyone has their AirPods instead of focusing on customer service We waited over 30 minutes for our food I would definitely avoid this place I would go to pier burgers instead they're way friendlier and their burgers are delicious which is probably why they always have a long line.

Fair food, nothing more nothing less. Not a bad place to grab a quick bite before or after the rides at the pier. Wait wasn't super long. Finding a table that was clean wasn't terrible. Was able to find a spot and people watch while we ate. The burgers here seemed popular. Workers were helpful and offered condiments and napkins as we got our food.

Just to preface my review is for the customer service not the food. The food was surprisingly wonderful! We had burgers and the buffalo sauce fries! Everything related to the food was delicious! The customer service, now that was another story! In short, your order takers are the face of the company. If they don't like working there, then get out, leave, find another job! Otherwise, try a little harder! Smile, don't act ghetto, rude, curt! Stop acting like it bother's you so dang much to take orders! Get over it!

This is a Smashie burger and no longer the beach burger so the business name needs changing. The food is really not at all you would expect. The burgers are below average, and come with nothing on top. It's just a burger and speck of onion and a white sauce that says "Smashie sauce" which tastes like mayo. The service was horrible, as we asked what came on the burger and the lady just snapped and said nothing... Can't complain about the ambience as it is on the pier but they could put some umbrellas on the table. All seating is outdoors and in the sun it gets really hot. Save yourself some money and go to Pier burger better les expensive and very friendly people with indire and outdoor seating.

Came here to eat a light snack to share. Got garlic fries and a corn dog. Nothing out of the ordinary but I wish the the corn dog was a bit bigger like in other places. A bit overpriced but to be expected bc it's on the pier.

The Chili cheese fries at beach burger is awesome for the price, recommend trying it out!

We came here to get something quick to eat, we got a hot dog and oh my gosh. it was done with very minimal effort, i know the workers are underpaid but they should atleast try. the bread wasn't even warmed up. The workers were pretty nice but they were very plain. no smiles and looked like they did not wanna be there. i won't go there again. but rooting for them

E X T R E M E L Y ---- O V E R P R I C E D ! The bacon wrapped Hot dogs from the street vendors are way more tasty and way more reasonably priced. Service was F A R from friendly. They forgot to give me my food. When I received my food it was cold and the lady had an attitude

Ordered a corn dog and garlic fries. Took 15 mins to receive my food. Corn dog was either chicken or turkey meat because it looked very light colored. It was very bland with no salt. The garlic fries were very greasy with a pool of grease and garlic at the bottom. Very bland fries also. I was not satisfied. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has better corn dogs and fries.

Took the kids to the pier and decided to try out this location. Due to covid their menu was limited... wait, what? No garlic fries!! Suggestion: Put up a sign staying you are not serving garlic fries. There were lots of peplw6in line behind us wanting to order garlic fries. We ordered the chicken sandwich, chicken strips and a couple of burgers. They did a good job preparing the chicken sandwich however less mayo would be great. Good job with the burgers and fries, the kids have it a thumbs up. Overall happy with our order- a little pricey but that's expected since we're eating on the pier. See my photos to view the menu. A really unpleasant experience. Arrogant staff, acted like they are doing us a favor for even taking our order. We were waiting 25 min to receive the wrong order. Overpriced, long wait, wrong order, terrible service. We won't be going back. I don't recommend this place.

Beach Burger is a great place for a bite if you are visiting Pacific Park or the Santa Monica Pier. By the main entrance to the park, this walk up stand has burgers and dogs. DH had the hamburger combo ($12) with fries and a soda. They use good quality buns - King's Hawaiian - with decent meat that is cooked to a perfect medium and topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles and thousand islands. Served with super crisp and fresh fries, it is a winning (albeit pricey - but it's all about location) combination. LO and I each had a corn dog ($4.75), which was a large turkey dog in a corn meal batter. Crispy and delicious. The staff was SUPER friendly, and the food is cooked to order, so it takes a bit. It's nice to be able to sit on the pier and enjoy a bite.

My chicken sandwich was fine for a chicken sandwich, but it took FOREVER for them to make it. My wife had a hot dog and it was your basic dog that also took forever to come out. We also had some cheesy fries and they forgot the crema on top. We didn't want anything fancy so we weren't expecting the world, but if they would just put some skip in their step it would make for a better experience.

This place was rather interesting. I won't lie to you and say the food wasn't good, it was. The price I already had anticipated since we are in Santa Monica and are on the pier. Which makes sense. My biggest problem with this place was definitely the service. It was terrible. People taking orders for be responded to me in the rudest way possible and I was only being nice because I was hungry as hell and didn't want spit in my food if I responded back angrily. Food also took extremely long to come out which isn't a big problem for me personally. Just the interactions with employees at the place was terrible.

Pretty much what many others have said...over priced, horrible service, long wait time, and dirty. I'm a sucker for garlic fries and I was hungry so I decided to give it a shot. First few bites were okay but slowly I realized that it was a grease pile of potatoes and the parmesan cheese (what I assumed) was super un-fresh. What can you expect from a fast service tourist booth right? Maybe try anywhere else...

The French fries smelled like urine! Totally grossed my wife out and we had to throw away our overpriced food.

Poor service they said open at 10:00am but no one is working but 1 person best to go somewhere else. Tired of waiting maybe it's different in the afternoon but morning to much laziness...

Took over an hour for a few hotdogs. Have never seen slower workers putting out zero effort while dozens and dozens of customers keep getting backed up. Do not go here

What the heck... Why is this burger actually good?! The burgers are freshly made (you can see inside), and you can definitely tell from the taste that they haven't been sitting around in a warmer somewhere. I'd choose this place over the neighboring pizza place any day. The fries were also crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. It's a pretty substantial meal, and the price is okay for pier food. If this place were by my house, I'd actually go, shockingly enough.

I was very surprised by how well they put their sandwiches together. When you order the food, it feels like you're ordering over priced food at the mall food court....because it is a little food court on the pier. The turkey bacon sandwich with avocado was very crisp, stacked high with plenty of turkey. It had an abundance amount fresh lettuce that had the texture that made the sandwich give off a crunch sound as you bite into it. I feel a bit off sitting here describing how good this sandwich was haha...but I was really impressed. I was expecting a mediocre half assed soggy sandwich, but it was the complete opposite. I'm sure somewhere up the block, at a beach front or root top bar/restaurant... or at the promenade, I would've easily paid $20-$25 (with tip) for the exact same sandwich... Guess what, it comes with in house fried potato chips...at the food court? I'm most definitely eating here again on my drunk pier strolls with friends.

I had the LA Dog. It was really good. Like others have said, it does take a long time to get your order but it's also Santa Monica Pier...so there are lots of people for them to serve. Would recommend if you're willing to wait and enjoy the environment.

I'm SURPRISED this place doesn't have a alot of reviews! My husband and I went to the Santa Monica Pier yesterday and among all the food places there, this was the one that stood out. It was so good we actually ate here TWICE in one day hehehe I ordered the Yucatan Sausage twice. It was sooo good!!! I love the cilantro in the sausage so much. So unique and so yummy! My hubs ordered the garlic fries and the all beef hotdog. It was good. We shared the garlic fries (twice) hehe it was soo delish. The only thing would probably be that it was too oily at the bottom but other than that price was alright (i think it could be cheaper or have bigger servings but then again it's on the Santa Monica Pier) We worked everything off by walking all the way to Venice and back! :p

Pretty busy spot on the Santa Monica Pier. The price was a little high, but the food was good. Customer service was weird. The man that finally took my order, I might have been boring to him due to his constant yawning and walking away from me at the order window. When he was done yawning and ignoring us we were able to start placing our order. Only to be interrupted by.....yes another yawn and him walking away from the window. Order finally placed, time to pay, but waited for another yawn and another walk away from the window. Food did take a long time, but they were busy. This place had the worst/weirdest customer service I have ever experienced. Probably next time we will stop at many of the other food spot on the pier or hit up the street vendors cooking up hotdogs.

I wanted a little snack at Santa Monica, so I stopped by this place to get some garlic fries and let me tell you.. the fries are so crispy and tasty it has the right amount of garlic powder & cheese It's my absolute favorite! I fell in love with the fries hands down! I wish they had fries like these in Vegas now! The food prices there aren't expensive but not cheap either. I also ordered a salad which was tasty and the dressing was yummy as well! I'll definitely be back in Santa Monica Pier so i'll be grabbing this and some other burgers to try soon!

Price was honestly way too high, but it's understandable because it's a travel spot. Don't go here unless you want to wait over 25 minutes for food! Everyone who ordered after me got their food before me ????? makes total sense...

Food was bad, experience was bad, cheap quality food for a hefty price, my burger was still raw and the chicken in the chicken sandwich was also still raw, absolutely disgusting, do NOT eat here.

The burger was delicious, cooked well done, and juicy. The fires were crispy and seasoned well. This is the only reason why I they have two stars rather than one. The service was dreadful. I go and order a cheese burger I then proceeded to order another item but before I can finish he interrupts to let me know what's in the cheese burger. Cool, I let him know that i don't want mayo or pickles. He then say "alright, take away the flavor then." I ignore his comment then try to order an item but get interrupted again. He asks if I said no tomatoes and onions. I let him know that it was pickles and mayo. I again try and order....but the pattern of snarky comments, attitude, and interruptions continued. The only great thing that came out of the interaction with Alejandro was my order was executed correctly. At one point I had my cousin take over because I had enough. Edit: shitty day or not don't take it out on me. I approach the counter with a smile.

Slow Slow SLOW. Not too crowded but still over a half hour to get just one hotdog. It was ok but not worth the wait.

Horrible service. Ordering was fine but after was a disaster! Took 40 min to get 5 people food, which I must say was horribly overpriced! Didn't offer to refund us anything or give us a complimentary anything, for our time! Food wasn't even that great. Will never recommend this place to anyone or eat here myself again!

Grill hot dog with grilled onions and garlic fries. Totally awesome! So so good. The staff was amazing too. Don't walk by without stopping for a bite. You will be missing some dam fine food.

I thought it was typical pier food except the wait was a bit much. Didn't expect to wait 15-20 for a burger and some fries. The garlic fries were awesome, just be prepared to stink like garlic for the next few hours.

Over priced, horrible service, long waiting time. The girl who took our order was very sassy and had an attitude, after waiting 20 minutes for a burger and a hot dog they forgott our drinks and companied with a bitchy face and rolled eyes we finally got them.

Considering is at the Pier where food quality as a whole is not top tier, Beach Burger fits in nicely. With a menu nearly identical to Pier Burger, the corn dogs and sausage choices, as well as the chili, add some variety. Also worth noting that the hotdogs are served on the Hawaiian bun, which is very delicious, if the dog or sausage has not been sitting for 10+ minutes. The food is moderately tasty, but the kitchen constantly gets behind and serves really really slowly. Be prepared to wait 15 to 20 minutes for food items that normally take maybe five. The staff is on the young side but is mostly nice, despite always "being in the weeds." Centrally located, decent prices for the location and kid friendly menu.

We ate here on the day we arrived in LA. We couldn't check in to our hotel/apartment rental until late afternoon, so we went to Santa Monica. Mike wanted to eat here when he saw that their fries were 'fat' fries. I wanted the garlic fries, so we ordered the cheeseburger combo which came with fries and a drink. We asked for garlic fries as a substitute for the fries, which they did for a little extra charge. Mike and I shared since I wasn't very hungry. The burger was good size for the amount paid (I was expecting something small like McDonald's or Burger King) and it tasted pretty good. My favorite, though, was the garlic fries. They were garlicky, parmesan cheesy, and salted. I happily ate most of the fries since Mike was concerned about all the oil that was on the paper under the fries. The fries and burger were a bit oily, but it didn't bother me any. :)

I was so satisfied with the veggie burger! My oh my, the bread was buttered and the veggie patty was heaven. I normally don't eat on the pier, but this place offered selection for my vegetarian preferences. Burger & homestyle potato chips were delicious. Cashier was friendly & so were the other employees when I asked for extra banana peppers!

Nice place to view ocean and feel the cool breeze. Yesterday I went to the pier and saw this burger place. They sell burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, salads, fries and other various sides. They even sell breakfast items for a short time in the mourning. I gave this place a 3 because I got the Hot dog combo. It comes with crinkle cut fries and a drink. The hot dog was very plain with a unheated bun. Customers have to put own condiments and you have to ask for them instead of being in a dispenser for easy access. Also it is very loud on pier and it is hard to hear your name to get your food. When they called me someone else almost took my food because our names were similar. Moreover, seating was not good and they needed more shade because it was very sunny. But, I really loved the fries they were very crispy and salted just right. Lastly, prices were high but I could understand because the place was on the pier.

Came here for breakfast with friends at around 10. The tater tots were good but took a real long time to get our burritos made ( it took about 20 mins as we had a deadline and became late for a meeting ). Hopefully next time I come back to the beach and look for food nearby, the meals come out in a timely fashion. I'll recommend the tater tots for breakfast if anyone decides to come though; for three dollars, its really crispy and satisfying to eat.

Dreadful service. Lost our order and claimed "the machine broke." All we ordered was ice cream, that was steadily being handed to customers who came after us. No machine! The ice cream was nothing special and certainly not worth the slow and rude service!

No complaints! Except for the person on the loudspeaker, extremely obnoxious! But good food and great service!

Food is all right spent over $60 and they still charge a dollar for a refill also the girls working there not so friendly go to Pier Burger

price was too expensive, the chicken tender is $7 for only 2 small pieces but hey if you want the meal you get 3 pieces for around $14. The wait was over 25 mins. i ordered a large Pepsi and they didn't even fill it up all the way.

I have giving beach burger numerous chances, but now it's finally time to post a review after this last horrible experience. Horrible service, horrible burgers. We ordered three chili burger combos and one cheeseburger combo. When they called us for our order after 20 min. they gave us 4 chili burgers and only two were combos. After explaining to them that one of the burgers was only supposed to be a cheeseburger, I had to wait another 20 min. The burgers were hard and dry, the buns were burnt and the French fries were cold. When I received my soda there was only five ice cubes in it, no joke only five ice cubes. They were melted before I got to the table. I cannot understand how this place stays in business. Go to McDonald's or Burger King.

Really good chili cheese fries, for the price at the pier I got a lot more than what I was expecting!

We had their breakfast menu and it was soooo good! A perfect meal on a bright and beautiful morning at the beach!

We crossed the United States in search of another burger as good and could not find one. Best in the US.

Ordered some Onions Rings and I got 4...they weren't big in any way ,two were small one biters and the other two were just a little bigger. Girl taking order never asked if we wanted the combo and could barely understand her. Drinks were warm and needed to go back and ask for ice. Overall just a tourist trap with your usual fast food that is way over priced. If you're going to grab food, don't eat their.

Burger was good, nice and fresh tasting. Only reason why I've given 3 stars as I think over priced for basic burgers.
