🚨🚨Listen up!!! This is hands down one of the best steakhouses I’ve been to. Our server Susan was absolutely a charm! I typically go to steakhouses weekly and Susan was by far the best. Great conversation, personality, local content sharing etc. she was very attentive to our dinner service. I highly recommend this location for a date night or just a wonderful experience to celebrate yourself.

Google
This place was amazing. Came here for my anniversary and was not disappointed!! We had the clam chowder and surf and turf which was to die for! Staff is so kind, friendly, and happy to be there. They even gave us a huge piece of chocolate cake on the house to help us celebrate. The server even offered for us to get a picture together. The atmosphere was also so cool! Truly grateful for the spectacular experience we had here!

I had seabass and it was cold and small. Half of it was just thick skin. I was very disseminate. Tuna tartar was small as well. Half the size of what im used to getting at other restaurants and the sesame cracker was soggy. Last time I was there it wasn't like this. Maybe bad chef night?

We’ve been to the Smith & Wollensky in Miami and we were in Boston to watch the Braves play, we decided to make our last night a special one by making reservations here! Best decision ever. I would highly recommend Smith & Wollensky - Boston. Best duck confit I’ve had, and my husband enjoyed his filet mignon. We both added the lobster tails to our meals and of course had the truffled macaroni and cheese to share. Rute G. was our wonderful server, very helpful, and explained everything to us when we had questions. Thank you!!

Ordered the Oscar filet which had lumps of crab and hollandaise sauce. Best crab I've ever eaten. Food was great, but this is a very expensive place.

I had the pleasure of dining at Smith & Wollensky this past Saturday, and I can’t say enough about the outstanding service provided by Asia at the host stand. From the moment we arrived, she was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. Asia made sure everything ran smoothly, from checking us in promptly to ensuring we were comfortable while we waited. Her professionalism and genuine friendliness set the tone for the entire evening. It’s clear she takes pride in her role, she was composed, organized, and truly went above and beyond to make our experience special. Great food is always a draw, but service like Asia’s is what makes a night memorable. Thank you, Asia, for your hospitality, you were amazing!

Google
I had the pleasure dining here a few nights ago with my Husband, and the experience was one to be savored again and again. We had the please of being hosted by Asia, who was a sweetheart with a warm smile, great energy, she mades us feel like VIPs from the moment we stepped in. The ambiance was elegant, the view was stunning, and our server ( I can't recall her name), was the cherry on top. She was so knowledgeable on the menu and spot on with her timing. Based on her recommendation, we enjoyed a beautiful cut of steak and the shrimp selection. The chocolate cake to end the night ? Chef's kiss! I'm already excited to plan our next date night here!

Yelp
Took our 11y/o daughter out for a fancy Valentine's Day dinner. Food was good nothing over the top for steak dinners(other than the price). The staff was very friendly, attentive and nice. There was a little incident with someone who might've had a little too much to drink and def caused a minor disturbance, however the staff quickly acted and took care of everything, including us. The decor was classic, they even had coat check! It is very expensive but worth the experience. We come back for a date night!

Yelp
Smith and Wollensky is a restaurant that sells itself due to the name alone. I've dined at the original smith and Wollensky in my hometown NYC with a wonderful experience. Which is the reason I chose this option for dinner in Boston. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated despite arriving early. Once seated it took a while to be greeted. Once we were acknowledged, the waiter arrived with two salads. I thought, how wonderful! Salads instead of bread for the table. About halfway into eating the salad, mid fork in mouth we were notified that the salads were not meant for our table and the waitress motioned to remove the plate. This was our first introduction to our waitress. I explained to the waitress that we were just about done eating the salad. Why not just leave it to the table. Were they planning on taking the half eaten salads to the table that ordered them? Soon after, the manager arrives to ask if we were okay to be charged for the salad. He wanted us to understand that it was mistakenly delivered to the wrong table. He then proceeded to ask how was the service? The service? That was the first two encounters we had upon arrival experience. I wanted to answer terrible! We were given salads (which I thought was great being that we had an 8pm reservation) up until the two encounters we had immediately after that. Where was the hospitality? Why were we penalized for the restaurants mistakes? I love traveling to Boston twice a year. It's safe to say that we will not return to this location. Despite my husband's request, we still left a favorable amount in gratuity. Undeserving in our opinion, but I didn't want the staff's bad judgment to affect mine.

Yelp
I dined here for a birthday dinner. It was a busy Saturday night but our waitress was attentive and got our orders right. Despite it being busy it wasn't too loud or crowded. The tables are big enough and spaced out so you get to enjoy the intimate setting. I had lobster tails, crab cake and potato's to share. The lobster tails and crab cakes didn't stand a chance. The potato's were a bit dry/over cooked. They weren't the star of the show so it was okay. I paired with Riesling wine. I would go back.

Yelp
I came here twice in the span of 18 hours for a work dinner and a work lunch. For the dinner we started with the tuna tartare (good) and crab cakes. We ordered the 42oz porterhouse for two (which we split between three of us). And I can't even begin to explain how amazing this steak was! We also had the asparagus and potatoes for sides. I could have eaten way more of that steak, that's how good it was! When we came back for lunch, we got the caesar (good), followed by the filet mignon, which wasn't as good as the porterhouse, but it was definitely delicious! Would absolutely recommend this! Though having seen the prices, it's definitely way easier to say that given it was on the company dime.

Yelp
Smith & Wollensky is my favorite steak house in Boston. The atmosphere is always great. The food is impeccable and I live next door so I eat it a lot. I don't think I've ever had something I didn't love.

Yelp
The restaurant has wonderful ambience to go along with great service and of course the food. It was a great experience for me and my family. I took my son there for his birthday after he had run the marathon that morning. I would definitely recommend it. But it is a little pricey so before you get sticker shock consider this a heads up.

Yelp
Came here without reservations to try their oysters even though it looked like a fancy steakhouse on the outside. Service was excellent, and most importantly, I enjoyed the sweet and fresh Connecticut Blue Point oysters and it hit the spot for me on a cold afternoon. My perfect snack before dinner. I'd come back for dinner next time as it's an elegant restaurant very close by to the Boston Tea Party Museum.

Yelp
I don't have any idea why this place has less than 4.5 stars, we had an incredible experience the entire time! #1 Ask for Claudia! She is AMAZING: professional, amiable, knowledgeable and friendly, everything you want a server to be. We mentioned we had to come back from Spain recently and turns out she is from Bogota Colombia so we had a good time practicing our Spanish :) #2 the food I got the American Wagyu and it was simply one of the best, tenderest steaks I've ever had. No salt, seasoning or accoutrements needed. . We got the steak tartar (prepared tableside) and the smoked salmon tartar and with the amuse was absolutely perfect paired with the #3 45th anniversary Manhattan - the presentation is 20% actual smoke taste is 0% and taste is 80% all amazing. I feel like you are essentially getting two Manhattans in this beautiful coup glass is one of the best you'll ever have it's more about presentation than smoke flavor she really don't get because it doesn't last long but the Manhattan is one of the best you'll ever have. We tried a South African wine neither us nor the manager nor the waitress had ever had and invited him to have a taste with us and we all agreed that they can go one of two ways and this was the better way and this is an absolutely superb wine. We had a great interaction as well with the staff, the location right next to the Boston tea party site and everything was absolutely wonderful with 10 out of 10 recommend and come here Tuesday to Friday and ask for cCaudia! ...

Yelp
We had a work event at Smith & Wollensky s steakhouse in Boston. This spot was a predictable yet satisfying experience. The prime, dry-aged steaks were great, and my salmon salad was fresh with a beautiful presentation. The setting is ideal for group gatherings, and the festive ambiance makes it a consistent choice for holiday celebrations.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate our anniversary and I must say... I had a really good time here! We ordered Cabernet wine, a peach sparkling, crab cake, vanilla bean creme brûlée and a wagyu porterhouse for 2. Everything was delicious especially the 2 different cuts for the wagyu that was on the platter (I cant remember what kind of cuts they were). The platter was definitely filling. Our waitress I think her name was Christin, she was delightful and sweet. Her energy lit up the night for us as well lol, she's funny. It was a pretty busy night on a Monday, but they were able to move my rsvp to earlier which I was happy about as well. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely come back!

Yelp
I went for Mother's Day and was very disappointed. Our waiter was a very nice man but we waited literally an hour for our food. We spent $300, waited an hour and then when our food came out my husband had to send back his steak because it was inedible, it was as if it was bathed in salt! Maybe they were very busy and just doused the steak in seasoning and rushed it out at the end. We had to send it back, and then when my husband just asked for a salad instead since he was hungry..they still made us pay for the replacement salad ! I had been looking forward to this for a long time and will never go back. My husband was very upset about the food and service. So was I. Ruined Mother's Day for me. Despite all of that we still left a 25% tip because we are accustomed to doing so, we felt like we were ripped off.

Yelp
So unbelievably good! We absolutely loved it. The Gorgonzola crusted steak was fantastic! Steak tartare app was delicious. Manny was our server and he was great.

Yelp
Smith & Wollensky is the best. Definitely on the pricier side, but it's not too bad if you go for lunch. The service here is always great and they take good care of each table. Definitely recommend coming here for big parties or a date.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised when I walked in the decor is quite formal but also inviting. I was with clients that knew the place so I went with their suggestions on the menu. 10 ounce NY strip with a side of Brussel sprouts was the perfect dish. I asked for my steak cooked medium which is fairly common given this restaurant specializes in steak. I was a little disappointed on how uneven the steak was cooked. I know the lunch rush is busy but to rush such an expensive cut of steak was a real shame. The ends were cooked very well done while the middle was bleeding raw ugh.

Yelp
My girls planned the Mother's Day dinner at Smith and Wollensky in Boston. The steak and seafood were high quality and cooked to perfection. I would give 10/10 for the presentation and the food. We ordered - Swinging Tomahawk Ribeye (signature 44oz. black grade bone-in ribeye, cooked perfectly with a hand-seared finish, carved tableside), Shellfish Tower (seafood stacked high with Maine lobster tails, Colossal crab, jumbo shrimp, and oysters on the half shell), Wagyu NY strip (Gold grade Wagyu, coffee and cocoa rub, roasted corn puree, chimichurri, smoked at tableside) Roasted Bone Marrow, Sautéed mushrooms, Creamed Spinach. Drinks were Old Cuban and Rye and Rum old fashioned. Ended this absolutely fantastic dinner with a Gigantic Chocolate Cake for Dessert! This was a near perfect dinner except the service was slow. Not sure what was the issue. We even asked the server but he couldn't give us a satisfactory answer. But the food compensated for that. It was very delicious and the steak was cooked exactly the way I like it. I won't take a star away for slow service, but I would have definitely liked it if it was a bit faster! I liked the lovely ambiance! Parking was not an issue as there is a parking garage next to the restaurant! Very convenient.

Yelp
Went for a celebratory lunch with my colleague- and we were not disappointed ! We both got the petite NY strip with potato and asparagus, and non alcoholic cocktails - all amazing. Seating was comfortable and luxurious enough to see why folks enjoy it there - and a pretty nice view if you're near the windows and it's sunny. I will say- the bread - which seems to be a big focal point for S&W was not great. Dry, and not a ton of flavor . But- we didn't come for bread - we came for steak and service and both were excellent!!
google avatar

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went for my birthday dinner and they made the best steak I've ever had! The ambiance was very nice, upscale, and relaxing. The drinks were great, the wedge salad was fantastic, even the bread was delicious! Our server, Raphael, was very kind and made the whole experience very pleasant. Thanks Raphael! We will definitely return.

Yelp
Popped in here after a full day of exploring with our 3 older kids. We are avid Ruth's Chris aficionado's and I have to say we were surprised at how good this place was. The filet was *chef's kiss* - cooked perfectly with an incredible crust. We truly had a great experience! This place is not cheap, but it's clean and lots of delicious side options. The only negative was they don't have kids menu's which meant our girls had to share a larger meal when everything was a la carte it became pricey. Overall our waiter was OK. We would come back though no doubt.
google avatar

Daniel A.

Yelp
I have always been a fan of S&Ws. Been to several locations and am never disappointed! Solid food solid steaks and solid service. Prices, as expected for a good steakhouse in a big city! Steaks were cooked to perfection, no seasoning needed. Apps are always amazing. Always love their creamed spinach! Our server was on point, manager was very friendly and fun to chat with. Always a solid and good meal!!
google avatar

Alfredo H.

Yelp
I've been to other S&W and they have been much better than this one , first the bread was stale and cold , the filet was ordered medium rare and it was over cooked , when it was replaced the second one was also over cooked, the split pea soup was too thick and flavorless. To sum it up it's a NTR ( Never to Return ) restaurant.
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Very classic steakhouse so perfect for a date night. Food was great and the service is also phenomenal!! the long bone wagyu filet is super tender but next time we might try the famous famous swinging tomahawk - a few tables near us got it and it looks so good! Overall, would definitely come back :))
google avatar

Masmin P.

Yelp
S&W has been in the business of making steaks since 1977 and this history absolutely shows. No it's not hip and yes it's pricey, but man, do they know their craft. I've had several cuts of meat here and usually gravitate towards those with some marbling; the New York strip is excellent- well-seasoned and perfectly seared. The Parker rolls are deliciously fluffy and buttery with just the right amount of salt, and the whipped potatoes are a must-have. Worth every calorie-laden bite.
google avatar

Yelp
Service: 8/10 Food: 5/10 I went there during lunch time and there' wasn't many people but I waited in the front for awhile tho. The people are very nice and polite. They forgot to bring us Truffle Mac and Cheese so they took that off and gave us a free cake. The cake is very nice but it's gigantic. I Ding think anyone can finish it. We ordered 9oz Wagyu NY Strip $95 and 10oz Signature Filet Mignon $59. Both of them were definitely over cook, they both taste like well done. It was a bit hard to chew. Highly recommend Red Wine Demi-Glace Sauce $5. It enhanced the steak a lot. The Hollandaise sauce was also really nice. Other than the steak, everything else is really good.

Francine M.

Yelp
Over. Over. Overpriced. Not worth it. Don't waste your money. Many restaurants less expensive with amazing food

Yelp
Smith and Wollensky, one of the oldest steakhouse chains on the East Coast, is set in a beautiful location near Seaport Boston. It's a shame Boston doesn't have the aged prime rib that NYC is famous for, but their food is still fantastic. Each dish is incredibly large in portion and well-seasoned. We got the bone-in tomahawk style ribeye steak and a glazed salmon with roasted Brussel sprouts. The ribeye steak had a fantastic crispy crust after coming through their savagely hot broiler/grill. The salmon was extremely tender and soft, cooked to a perfect medium doneness. The sides of roast potatoes and cauliflower were plentiful and delicious too. The finisher dessert of chocolate cake was massive and could feed a family of four. We were unable to walk afterwards.
google avatar

Stephen V.

Yelp
Special occasion brings us here to Seaport ...sat at table for 4. On a Sat nite around 530. Wasn't too happy about the table being in aisle where a million waiters are scurrying to their tables with swinging Tomahawk steak tables. Our waiter was engaging and pleasant. Had some crazy app with a waygu steak Tatar. Very thin slices with some greenery and a glaze. Very tasty but very sparse. Bar was super slow considering the place was 1/2 empty ...took forever to get a drink. Either that or our waiter forgot about us. Bring your wallet cause this place ain't cheap. Swinging tomahawk steak is $260. Tenderloin is $65. Was cooked to my liking ...sides were truffle Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes Desert was the slice of chocolate cake. Absolutely huge slice that will feed 4 ... Food is very good but a tad expensive ....I'm more of a pub and grill type of guy. Food doesn't mean that much to me when it costs so much ...I'm just as happy eating a lobster roll at Tony's clam shack on Quincy Shore with a cold beer.
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
Yes it's hella expensive get over it.. It's a national chain.I've been to the o e in Chicago. Smart choices the Crab Cake, Tartare and any apps. Get yourself a glass of champagne and you are set. Yes your crab cake and glass of bubbly is gonna cost you about $55.00 but live it up kids. Staff is lovely and unobtrusive. Louis my bar keep was a complete gem as is the rest of the staff. They have outdoor seating, I think you can valet but ask. Party on kids

Yelp
Came here last night for a late business dinner and the service was amazing. Food was great and the presentation was excellent!

Yelp
All of the steaks that my family order was super super salty. The mash taste like it came out of a box. Probably won't come.

Yelp
The ambiance is ok guests weren't super dressed up service was ok the food was so unbelievable salty!!!! We had shrimp too salty to eat and the steak wasn't great either i went once and will not be going back

Yelp
There was some confusion with my reservation and the host handled it with extreme patience and professionalism. He was so understanding and helpful. Our server was extremely friendly and the food was excellent. We will definitely be back !

Yelp
Excellent food and service! We come here as often as possible and always have an outstanding experience.

Yelp
First off the bread I received was unreal warm with super good butter I ordered the waygu filet minon and it was the best steak I've ever had, tender, flavorful, juicy. Might be the best food I've ever eaten The service was great refilling my drinks regularly Amazing food
google avatar

Ellen Z.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Not any of the starters we got. The meat was done well but they are more raw than typical places so know that when ordering how well you want steak. The cake was r good and not too sweet and biscuit was the best part. Overall good food but for the price not worth it. Personally Ruth Chris steak house is better imo for price.
google avatar

Cookie M.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. The crab cake was amazing!!! Expensive but super good! It was worth it for me!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Beautiful view of the water, great atmosphere, awesome cutlery, great service. That said...food is grossly overpriced for the cut of meat. Food is subpar. Despite them cooking it to taste/request, the food truly is not that good. The foos is over salted.
google avatar

Amy Jo I.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience. Inviting atmosphere. The food was delicious , starting with appetizers all the way to dessert with cappuccino's . Service was excellent.

Kimberly F.

Yelp
Outdoor dining mid day at the bar is PERFECTION. We went there two days in a row for a late lunch because you can't beat the food, service or scenery. The bacon appetizer is off the hook, martinis are delicious and the burger is unreal. Hope you make this a stop during your visit to Boston!

George T.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered 2 Wollensky salads to go with Tenderloin tips on the side. The salad included wilted lettuce and fatty chunks of bacon. The $18 side of tenderloin tips were definitely not tender! 5 chunks of tough grizzled cold meat. No dijon vinaigrette dressing and no utensils. Never again!

Yelp
For a place that charged premium price it was lacking alot. Maybe update menu with better detail on what is being serve. Service: We didn't appreciate our server being pushy. Everytime he came back and ask if we were ready to order and we were not. He gave us the cold shoulder and attitude. Scallops from starters- We should never assume because we thought we were getting sea scallops for the price but it came with bay scallops. They didn't provide us with a small spoon so scooping the marrow was super hard. Menu said garlic butter but the green herby sauce was more than garlic butter that we did not enjoy. Boned in ribeye- I understand that anything with boned is hard to cook but this beautiful piece was burnt on the cap. The most delicious ribeye cap was burnt and had to be cut off. So sad to see it go. Boneless ribeye with South African lobster- This was good. Better cook than the latter boned in cousin. Never tried south African lobster before but I say our New England lobster taste sweeter and texture is way better. Wollensky salad- The best dish of the bunch. Huge bacon pieces and lovely tangy dressing. Lobster roll- Why must you add so much mayo. It was so wet that you can hardly taste the sweetness of the lobster. Light mayo, wedge of lemon on the side and leave the lobster meat in chunks not chopped. Sautéed spinach- Menu didn't say there would be res pepper flakes in it. Too spicy and had to return it. Gigantic chocolate cake- OH my goodness, tall huge cake. Moist chocolate cake, rich and decadence. Skillet chocolate cookie with vanilla bean ice cream- pretty good. The cookie could of bake a bit longer to give the cookie outter layer a more crisper texture. The contrast of hot crispy cookie meets vanilla ice cream would have a deeper impression. For the price, you can find a better establishment with better quality and service.
google avatar

Yelp
Best steakhouse in restaurant. Make sure you see Joel in order the bone in ribeye you will not be disappointing
google avatar

Jackie E.

Yelp
Would not return... My boyfriend and I came to Smith & Wollensky to celebrate his milestone stone birthday. We were greeted by a host who advised our table was not ready despite having a reservation. When we were sat, it was at a dirty table where a dining assistant had to maneuver chairs we were sitting in to sweep up the food covering the floor. We sat at the table for over 20 mins before being greeted by a frantic server who asked our water preference. After another 20 mins we were given water and given a quick window to put in a drink order; we quickly decided to put in our appetizer and entrees based on the frequency of server visits. The food like the service was horrible. My filet was beyond over cooked but I had no opportunity to speak up as my server was absent the entire dining experience. The server was clearly unexperienced and made zero effort to make our dining experience pleasant. Overall the food was overpriced and underwhelming; I will not be returning and would not advise others to come. Various reviews echo this sentiment, please consider any other steak house in Boston.

Jon L.

Yelp
My first time visiting, it was amazing. The drinks were delicious and the t-bone was certainly the way to go. Our server was very professional and helpful. Loved the Christmas decor and ambiance considering the holiday season. Will be back
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
Smith and Wollensky is always amazing. 10oz Gorgonzola steak was fantastic. Especially paired with my vodka martini. Gorgeous views on the water as well
google avatar

Robyn J.

Yelp
We celebrated a Birthday at Smith Wollensky's hoping for a great meal seeing as there steaks are as high as 240 .00 so we were expecting the best of everything. Well this was not the case for me, I order Chilean sea bass which is a prime expensive piece of fis. I had a nice conversation with the manager to reassure myself that this would be a prime piece of fish and he reassured me they only serve top of the line steak and fish. Our waiter came to serve us our entree which looked delicious at first site but as I brushed away the toppings there lies an end flat overcook piece of fish that did not represent chilean sea bass from my experience. One of the things I dislike when I go to A restaurant and am not satisfied and I have send back my dish is the person I am with is eating alone and when mine comes back the way it should have the first time I am now eating alone. Don't waste good money going here it's not worth it.

Yelp
I came here for a work dinner on a weeknight with a group of 6. The food was decent, but the service and timing of food coming out was on the slower side for such a high end restaurant. Starting with the food, we tried a variety of the appetizers, the scallops, carpaccio, angry shrimp, and burrata and they all tasted great but didn't blow me away, aside from the shrimp which was perfectly seasoned and super crispy. The steaks were definitely the stars of the show here. I got the signature filet and would highly recommend as it was cooked perfectly and super tender and flavorful! For sides the asparagus was a bit mushy but the potatoes and sautéed spinach were both good. All that being said, for how expensive everything on the menu is, I expected the food to be better. Unfortunately, it took so long for servers to come over to take our order and also so long for the food to come out as well, even the appetizers. We also didn't get checked on that often and didn't get the complimentary bread and butter that it looked like other tables were getting when they sat down (my apologies if I'm mistaken and you have to order it/not complimentary). It looked like there were two larger parties dining that night, so that could have contributed to the slow down as it seemed a few servers were needed to attend to those two parties. Overall I would consider coming back here if I really wanted to take people some place nice, but it's too overpriced for what it is to be a spot I'm dying to go back to on my own dime.

Went to the bar yesterday after work. Had an amazing time the bartender Mike was extra attentive, super smilie and made my night. 10/10 will go back again.

Yelp
Staff was rude and racist. We went for a family member's birthday and felt embarrassed. Food was ridiculously expensive and the aged beef tasted rotten. Because of the poor service we gave a limited tip which they did not accept.

Yelp
Just thirsty for a beverage after walking six miles...and it does not disappoint! Damn good Gibson!
