Yelp
Smith Creek Moonshine made it to my "must do" list due to their gorgeous outdoor photography. Surprised me to find out that they're located in a commercial area with no outdoor area at all. It was still a cute visit. The moonshine tasting was fun and they have lots of fantastic flavors while the restaurant burgers were just so-so. They offer lots of sweet, dessert-like bar drinks perfect for warmer temperatures too.
PROS:
-Free tastings. The guy giving the tastings was super knowledgeable, and he asks for your list of interests "up front" to ensure he's giving you their selections in the right order to ensure it tastes as good as possible. He also gave us a couple other recommendations to try as well. Very friendly guy.
-Despite a lot of their marketing on their website, Smith Creek Moonshine is actually located right in the middle of the "Branson Landing" - which is basically a giant, 4-block pedestrian area full of shops and stores. Lots of chain stores but lots of non-chain stores too. This makes parking much more of a pain, but it also means you can visit a lot of stores at once.
-Their moonshines are definitely less of the "hard liquor" and more of the "palatable liquor". The taste descriptors are pretty accurate, and most of the flavors taste decently sweet with less of the "burning" you'd expect.
-Very friendly staff. The restaurant was dead, so we had more attention than usual, but the bartender was really nice, was happy to explain to me how to make the drink I ordered for at-home drinking with their moonshine, and was all-around pretty awesome.
-Interior is pretty cute. Lots of hardwood, industrial-type furniture, and even some "swinging cowboy doors" that lead into the restroom hallway. (Gender neutral bathrooms, by the way!)
CONS:
-Food menu is a little limited. It's basically just a "burgers and fries" type of joint if you're here for the food.
-Burger quality and fries are pretty standard. Not bad - but not great. Getting some of their gourmet or stuffed burgers will probably add a lot to the excitement level. I'm not sure the beef can "stand alone" taste-wise.
-Seating is pretty limited on the restaurant side. I could see them running out of spots relatively easily.
-Their alcohol selection is definitely on the expensive side - especially when some of the drinks only have an ounce or two of alcohol in them. Definitely not strong pours here.
