Google
A pub/bar located very close to the Times Square, in New York City. We've been there on a Saturday's evening, and it was easy to get a good table. Menu is limited for food - we've had the Truffle Fries and the Chicken Tenders, and both were good enough. The place offers a good variety of beers, and service was good - although there seem to be few people than needed to take care of all the tables.

Gentleman at the door was friendly. I voted us to view menu. Service was decent. Food was good. Great location. The drink and food choices are reasonably priced.

Google
A nice place off the Broadway theater district to grab a decent bite to eat before or after a show. Very friendly service and good food. The Rosemary Mushroom Burger was flavorful and meaty, only downside was the bun was a bit dry. A fresh and yummy bun would've made this a 5-star. Same with the hot dogs, good dogs with sauerkraut and mustard, but the buns were a bit stale too. Still a great find because it was not super busy and it had quick and friendly service.

Google
It's a nice place to go if you're near Times Square, with a good selection of drafts and drinks. Food menu has limited but tasty options. The service was good and the atmosphere of the place is great, especially for watching games.

Google
Nice pub in midtown Manhattan. It wasn't crowded, and the service was great. I tried baby back ribs with potato salad, and it was really good. 18% tip is included in the bill, so you don't have to think about tiping.

Google
Nice pub right by the theatre district, making it super convenient to grab a drink and some food before a show. The place gets packed by 530pm! The soft pretzel with Guinness cheese dip was really good!

It's a great place to hang out and the atmosphere is nice. If ever Times Square check it out. The menu could use some more options butoverall, it was a pleasant experience. The waiters were very pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
Never been here before, never planned to ever come but a friend of mine stopped by and wanted to grab a bite before a broadway show. From the outside it wasn't too impressive. They had happy hour for wine? At the time I went in. The menu was very small. We ordered a margarita and a espresso martini to drink. As for a small bite we ordered 2 cups of Italian wedding soup (soup of the day), onion rings and truffle fries. Every was very good... BUT. There is a but! For 2 drinks, 2 sides, and 2 cups of soup... the bill came out to $96. I thought it was a joke. $96?! I couldve had a lavish steak meal elsewhere. The food was good but It was NOT worth a hundred bucks. Literally everything depicted in the attached pictures. Make your own judgement from this review but I will not return due to the price point

Yelp
My wife and I had a little over an hour to spend before heading to our Broadway play. We found Smith's Bar at 44th & 8th and cozied in at the bar. This was the perfect spot! Our play at the Broadhurst was right up the street. Since we had eaten earlier, we just planned to get a couple of drinks. Bonus for us, it was Happy Hour! Our server was super friendly, even though he was also super busy. We intended to just have drinks, but after seeing food around us, we ordered dessert here also. My carrot cake and my wife's limoncello cake were delicious! If you're like us and looking for a place to duck in before showtime, check out Smith's!

Yelp
This pub was just a block up from our place at the Westin in Times Square. Four of us on a Saturday at 6:00pm and plenty of good tables to be had. Pretty decent beer selection but a bit short staffed, isn't everything? Short menu but we're here to drink. Earlier I dropped my phone to certain doom at Hudson Yards so this is a medicinal visit. Two weeks in NYC and God knows if I'll have a camera for any of it. When drinking you have to eat something so we went with Smith's signature burger, the Chicken Parm and two Blue Buffalo burgers. All were overpriced and the Buffalo burger means a burger with a buffalo sauce. Sadly, it's not made of buffalo meat. Then it would have been worth the money. The few folks that were here were great. I can understand why they aren't very busy. All in all we enjoyed. Nothing spectacular taste wise but it all went down fine, so we call it a victory and move on to the next adventure! 01/24

Yelp
Before a show, this is the right place to go if you want fast service and friendly atmosphere. We didn't get our servers name, but she was a lovely woman, all smiles. We ordered 2 apps and I am pretty sure we had them in 10min. Fried pickles and wings, yum! Entree for me was chicken Alfredo, pretty good, I'm certain there was a pound of pasta in the bowl my husband got the chicken parm&my daughter the vegy burger, no complaints out of them. Let me end this by complimenting the bartender who made my cosmo...pink&tart, like it's supposed to be! Thanks guys. Go early before rush hour hits, like at 5, because at 6 it was jam packed.

Yelp
This place should stick to bar food. The chicken fettuccine was not good at all tasted like frozen chicken and bottled sauce. Hamburger was juicy. So if you come here, don't choose a specialty food.

Yelp
This place doesn't get the credit it deserves. Hubs and I sat at the bar on a Friday afternoon. Service was top notch. Beer selection is solid. Hubs got the Allagash - perfection as always. Bloody Mary - just ok. Mix + vodka. Nothing special, but definitely good enough to have two. Started off with fried pickles. Serving was not too big, which I appreciate. The pickles were sour (amazing) and the breading wasn't too thick - and had a good crunch / flavor. The dip was a little spicy and very good. Definitely would get again. Burger. We split it because we were hungry, but not horribly hungry. Got the Sam's Special (recommended by our server) and it was AMAZING. Had it cooked medium and the flavor / texture of the burger was amazing. Perfect bun, perfect patty. The caramelized onion was awesome and the bacon was crispy. The fries were good, but definitely outshined by the burger. Overall I am glad I went here and would go again / recommend others to try. It didn't receive the 5 star due to the limited menu and the lack of a quality bloody.

Yelp
Place is conveniently located by the Theater district so it's good to catch a few drinks , aside from that the food is just bar/pub food , nothing really that special . Service is ok and depending on when you go it can get a bit too loud .... It's an ok place ..

Yelp
I feel like I've ate here a few years back when I was craving a burger, but not wanting to stand in line at Shake Shack a few doors down. It was a freezing winter night in the 30's and I needed something to warm not only my stomach, but myself! This is also close to the 8th St. Subway and I am familiar with what's around the area. Service is decent, fast, and friendly. Menu is simple, kitchen is quick. I could over hear other patrons in the restaurant, and the staff is Spanish-friendly too. I ordered a French Onion Soup and Chicken Alfredo Rigatoni. I didn't realize how many pieces of bread my soup came with. Btw, my soup was a perfect match! When the server came back asking me if I'm done, I had asked if I could have some butter for the bread. He quickly came back with a small tub. As delish as the chicken Alfredo was, to me a little over kill on the mushrooms, and there was so much leftover, I liked the to go container as it was a foil pan with a piece of foil. This was perfect for me to heat up the next day in a convection oven! Not bad of a place, I think it gets busy before showtimes. They also open late and has a full bar. All in all, a very convenient place to dine in.

Yelp
After a ride on the TopView bus (highly recommend) we stopped here for lunch. It was Happy Hour (yay! It was a Tuesday, but regardless). Ambiance was fun - we had a window seat and played a game of " tourist *Or* worker) while watching people go by outside. Peter was our server and did a great job. I got a Philly Cheesesteak, my bride got a Grilled Chicken sandwich = both were very tasty!! I got regular french fries, she got truffle fries - again both = delicious! $60. W Recommend!!!

Yelp
Loved this place. On our way to see Spamalot I noticed this place on 8th Ave. I shot this storefront many years ago and we decided to go in before our play. Happy we did. Our bartender Ivanca was amazing. She really knew her craft. She made a killer cranberry margarita. We ordered a bourbon jam burger and Philly cheesesteak. So good. A nice selection of beers. Noise level is above average. Atmosphere was pretty chill. We will definitely be back. Cheers

Yelp
I pride myself in giving thoughtful reviews about establishments that have a well known name or popular buzz about them. This includes: large businesses, small businesses, new businesses , minority business, and nonprofit organizations that I come across leaving a lasting impression with me. That in the hopes, viewers will not base their own experiences on my report rather take a piece my story to either lift the excitement about the business you are considering or proceed with caution. With that being said, I would like to rate my 20-25 minute visit by category: 5-Great 4-Good 3-Oh No 2- Second Thoughts 1- Not Good Door Host: 4 - Small talk & laughs until line moved forward Wait Time: 5 - Many places on the strip with a quality menu was booked Table space: 4 Noise level: 4-5 Facilities/ Restrooms: 4 - Men & Women were used during the visit and we both were pleased. Service time: 2 -We had to leave seat to get a waiter for our order. Which was no biggie we figured being tourist a 10 min wait to order may be common on a busy Saturday evening. We were served 1 of the 2 drinks (Sprite & Juice bomb) with no straw (s), utensils were never served. As time went on we mutually agreed to find a near by restaurant. After the glass of sprite was delivered we cancelled the order. As a first time visitor during a vacation for our 9th year anniversary for a casual evening in the big apple I was appalled by this visit. I do not recommend. Chow.

Yelp
Dive bar in the heart of the city. We stopped in for a drink while exploring downtown. Service was your typical chaotic bar type where they were so busy running back and forth that you basically got your drinks and a bill. We didn't have any food but quite a few people were eating around us and it looked like your average bar food. Your prices are definitely your inflated NYC prices, but that's expected. The bar, dining room, and restrooms were all clean which was nice for a dive bar.

Yelp
Visiting NYC for the first time, and we loved this place so much that we decided to go 2 nights in a row. All in, we've had the fried pickles, NY strip, Bacon Bourbon Jam burger, truffle fries, sauteed mushrooms, and margaritas. There is nothing I wouldn't joyfully get again. Burger and steak cooked to order, a perfect medium rare. Truffle fries are delicious, even my husband(who usually dislikes truffle fries) fell in love. The margaritas are indescribable. Even with the house tequila, they are better than house margaritas we've had anywhere else. The music is great for 40-50 yr olds, which we are :) If we lived here, this would definitely be 'our place.' It's on our list for the next time we visit.

Yelp
Our server, Fernando, was great - attentive and friendly. Drinks were good and the apps even better. I recommend the truffle fries and fried pickles! There's also plenty of comfortable seating options.

Yelp
Food: I ordered the shrimp and capers appetizer. The food was fresh and tasted great. I got the amber fat tire to pair. It was delicious. Server was attentive and helped me find my way around nyc. Thank you!

Yelp
At Smith's in Hell's Kitchen, the stage was set for a lunch that could never find its spotlight. With an audience of empty chairs, one might expect the service to play the leading role, yet it seemed more inclined to a supporting act, disappearing when needed most. The culinary script featured a buffalo chicken sandwich, priced as though it had ambitions for a Michelin star, but unfortunately, it was more of an understudy on stale bread. As for the five-piece chicken wings at $15.99, they seemed to audition for a part in a tragedy--overpriced and underwhelming, they left the taste buds yearning for a plot twist that never came. Smith's appears to cast itself in the role of a transient stop for Broadway-goers--a place where the memory of the meal fades faster than the applause at curtain call, making it a place not for encores. In the bustling theater of Hell's Kitchen's culinary scene, Smith's performance is, regrettably, not one for the playbill.

Yelp
Huge fan of this place. Staff is amazing. Sadly it appears it is closed for renovation according to a sign on the door.

Yelp
Horrible service. Loud. Average (at best) food. My fries were cold, took forever to get our order. Won't go back. I was disappointed and we won't go back.

Yelp
Our party of five was hungry and my fellow diners weren't in the mood to Yelp around. They spied the Smith's Bar & Restaurant across the street, and over we strolled to grab a table. Once seated, I was able to determine that this was a three star Yelp spot, so my expectations were mitigated from the get go. The ratings by my fellow Yelper's were already aligned with my take on the ambiance, which is a dark, pub like venue, which might benefit from a very thorough cleaning. Service was prompt and polite, and the food was "OK", basic pub fare which included a burger, a salad, fries, and fish & chips. The food was neither great nor terrible, and our dining experience merited a three-star review on this visit.

Yelp
I get that having a restaurant in the theater district is almost a license to print money. That doesn't excuse snotty staff and bad food. We stopped in for a snack after the show, but didn't want to be in the noisy bar area. The hostess had a terrible attitude because we wanted a table in the dining room (which wasn't busy), but did seat us. The $12 hot dogs were ok, but I probably could have gotten better from a street cart. The beer cheese pretzels were awful. The pretzels themselves were chewy and soggy at the same time, while the cheese tasted spoiled. At least our server was pleasant and efficient.

Yelp
I kinda liked this place. We were in the HK neighborhood and decided to give it a try. We were promptly seated when we arrived. They were busy. Our order was taken quickly. Our food came out in a reasonable time. They made two errors with our food order but corrected them right away. The service was good. I ordered the fried cod sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was good. The sesame seed bun it came on was really fresh. My son got a Philly Cheese steak sandwich that was notably good. My friend got hot wings. The bar was also good. The bartender made me a special tropical drink and was very kind. She really wanted me to like it. I understand that the location of this restaurant makes the food more expensive but I really felt like the food was overpriced for what you get.

Katelyn T.

Yelp
We stayed up the street from Smith's on a trip to the city and found ourselves coming back almost every day of the trip. The prices for food & drinks alone were worth it, but we also really enjoyed the casual bar atmosphere. We would order off of the appetizer menu for our meals each time since the portions were so generous & the prices were very reasonable for the location in the city! We would often get the chicken tenders or the hot dog appetizers with a side of fries and it was definitely enough food to be a meal. We sat on both the bar side & the restaurant side during our visit and did not have to wait at all for a table or spot at the bar any time we stopped in. My one complaint is that the service can be a bit slow at times, but most of those times they were busy so it was definitely understandable. If you're looking for a cozy bar-vibe, this place definitely has it!

Yelp
Attitude from staff. No greeting. Bartender Too busy texting to serve. Bar left with old drinks. No hygiene

Suzanne Z.

Yelp
Location - Near Port Authority. Has both restaurant & bar sides. Sports TVs. Great window seating on restaurant side for people watching on 8th. Service/Food - prompt & efficient service from being greeted by excellent waitress to getting drinks/food. One of best cheeseburgers around - generous size, fresh lettuce, real potato fries. Got it in 5 min after ordering (Sun afternoon @4pm) Bar food but other options too. Will stop by again.
google avatar

Yelp
It was a nice little place, the fried pickles weren't exactly friend. Looked more like a seasoned coating. We asked for the burger to be medium and came out more well. Wasn't mind blowing but wasn't horrible either.
google avatar

Dawn G.

Yelp
Party of two around 1pm no wait for a table. Menu consists of burgers, appetizers, salads...typical bar food. I had buffalo wings & my guest had a burger with fries. Staff was friendly. Not bad. Convenient, easy seating, open window for people watching. Quick for lunch meetings.

Yelp
Busy little spot for a cold beer break. Service is not fast but acceptable. Has good channels for sports. Good times for a happy hour!

Yelp
Conveniently located close to the theatre we were headed to. Only had a few drinks, but the service was good and plenty of TV's around.

Yelp
Smith's is a New York institution. It's iconic neon has been a defining characteristic of midtown west for decades. I'd walked by it thousands of times, but never gone in for whatever reason. Last night, a friend and I did. It'll be the last time. My friend and I arrived around 11:45 p.m. We ordered two, INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE whiskeys. Like "Yikes" expensive. But it's midtown. So, we take our whiskeys and sit near the window. Then, a little after midnight, the lights where we're sitting start to get brighter. I turn to the door guy and say, "Is that on purpose or did someone bump a light switch? Is it last call?" He says, "They already called last call. We're closing up." Well, shit, ok. Sucks that a New York City bar is closing at 12:30, but, oh well. So my friend and I get up and go into the back room to get away from the bright overhead light and we sit down at a dark booth. Immediately a waiter says, "This area is closed. You have to move." We get up and go back into the main room and sit down at a bar table for a moment and almost immediately, the doorman comes over and says, "I need to get into a cabinet behind you. Get up and out of there." We're like, "OK." and we walk over to the bar and as we're about to sit down, a bartender says, "It's past last call. You can't sit at the bar." I say, "OK, well, we're just trying to finish these drinks and get out of here but every time we try to sit someplace, you guys are telling us to get up or that we can't sit there. Where ARE we supposed to finish these drinks?" He then just shrugs like, "Not my problem." My buddy, who bought the drinks, at this point is not happy and wants to discuss this a bit with the bartender who served us. After a few minutes of being ignored, the bartender comes over and my buddy explains why we're disappointed in the experience. I shit you not, the bartender YELLS at my buddy, and this is hilarious, "WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS BAR? THERE'S A THOUSAND GREAT BARS IN THE CITY! GO TO ONE OF THEM!" and he marches back into the kitchen. At this point, we just downed the rest of our drinks and left. So...I guess this review is just to amplify the message of our bartender. There are a thousand great bars in the city. Smith's is not one of them. Definitely go somewhere else.

Monique Y.

Yelp
This place was crowded and now that I've gotten to try I only think it was crowded for happy hour and because of the location. The food was horrible and tasteless! Ordered the Smith burger and the bun was soggy! There was wet lettuce on the bun. When I complained the waiter asked me what part of the bun and only replaced the bottom bun! The meat on the burger definitely wasn't seasoned. My friend had the ribs and they were good! Kind of bland! Definitely a waste of money! I advise the manager and he offered to refund but I happily declined. Just fix the issues!

Mary G.

Yelp
Wanted to take a break from walking with kids around the Rockefeller area to grab a quick bite for lunch and reset. We were seated immediately and offered both breakfast and dinner menus. It gave us a lot of options to please everyone and the food came out fast. Fast service and everyone enjoyed their meals! Casual spot and kid friendly.

Yelp
This is the best BLT I have ever had the pleasure of destroying! Look. It's New York. It's $4 beers. It's a DELICIOUS $13 BLT generously loaded with bacon and a house salad on the side. I mean, what else can you ask for. The bread was perfectly toasted, crispy and not too dense. Honestly the bread made this a great lunch choice by keeping a little on the lighter side. The house salad was nicely prepared with fresh spring green mix and the veggies were cut nice and small...diced would be the right word. Yummy! Thanks Smith's!
google avatar

Stacey C.

Yelp
We were walking around the city looking for a spot to have a drink and found Smith's. The open air bar area drew us in right away. It was nice to find a comfortable restaurant bar in the Times Square area adjacent that isn't touristy. This place is comfortable and like a place down the street from home.
google avatar

Elle B.

Yelp
Meh.... Nothing special about this place, pricey bc it's smack in the middle of touristy 42nd St/ Theater district to be exact....yuck! The only reason I stopped here to eat was bc we were running close to a show that started soon. Otherwise I should have just gone down the street to Wendy's for a fo fo fo! Next.....!

Yelp
Nice bar to watch football and grab a delicious burger! Cooked just the way you like it and the parm fries are amazing. Bartenders are very attentive and make great conversation. Edwin was the best!

Yelp
This place is has a great location as your basic neighborhood bar, neighborhood being 8th and 44th in between Times Square and Hell's kitchen. It's a nice size, especially for a neighborbood type bar, with one dedicated bar section with high tops and a semi-separate restaurant seating area, also with it's own bar. decor / ambience is basic bar, nothing over the top, and often that's what you want. We walked in one afternoon when it was quiet and were seated right away. We've also been when it was crowded and noisy just like you'd expect in a bar like this on a weekend night. But this time was quiet and got a couple of apps: pretzel bites themselves were just ok, kinda tough and chewy, but the beer cheese dip it came with was good. The hotdogs with mustard and kraut app was just as described, not bad. they had a decent draft menu, i had the Lagunitas A little sumpin ale, pretty good. Service was fine.

Nola V.

Yelp
Despite it being NYE and completely packed our food came out super fast and also fresh! The drunken shrimp and caesat salad were amazing!

Yelp
I've come to this place a few times. The service is fantastic! The food is always really good! I suggest getting their chicken wings. The one issue I have is the music . The music stops me from visiting more often. There used to be a really great playlist, but out of nowhere it switch and the current one is kinda lame and repetitive. This place is super cool and a great spot for catching a vibe with some friends. I love stopping by to catch up with my girls because it's the center point for all of us to meet, but the music kills the vibe. This would be the perfect place if there was better music. THIS IS NEW YORK, everyone wants open format music, a little bit of something for us all. i'm Dominican and Puerto Rican, I heard Gasolina play 30 times while I was there and even my ass, got sick of it.I love being a first generation Latina, American. I grew up listening to everything and i would love for the places I frequent to represent that. This is why I had to rate 1 star. If it wasn't for the music i'd rate it 5 stars and probably choose it as a regular place to eat and drink.
google avatar

Margie A.

Yelp
The food was decent, but a bit pricey even for that area. I would go back as it is convenient, if I were in the area and did not feel like traveling. But there are so many eateries in the area that I may or may not go back. The burger WAS delicious!

Vanessa D.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. Although the neighborhood has become sketchy over the years this spot is still pretty safe affordable for midtown. Good atmosphere but I do miss the oldies they played before. Like 80's and 90's. Now it's all weird house music and lots of reggaeton lol. Nothing wrong with it, but it just doesn't quite fit in well with this bar. It's not a dance spot and a chill spot. Overall recommend though.

Yelp
This place is everything you would want in a neighborhood bar. We had the Smiths burger which was amazing and juicy! Friendly staff and great service!

Yelp
A little history: this used to be B. Smith's restaurant owned by the actress? B Smith. Back in the 90's it was THE place in the theatre district. It had delicious Southern cooking, swings and complimentary Charleston chew candies. The design and the vibe of the place was enough to leave you happy and snapping your fingers. Well after the Juniors fiasco we walked around to find an alternative. Would have loved to go back to Nizza but it was too far and already 6::15 so only 1 hour to eat. Thalia another fave also a bit far. I see the sign for B Smith's and then the placard that said Smith's. Huh? At this point my friend was suggesting McDonalds. Uh how do you politely say Uh NO!!!!! We walked in and realized it's now a sports bar. We took a chance, both of us wanted a lite supper. We both ordered split pea soup, very salty( Juniors I wanted the matzoh ball soup, your fault) with a side of ciabatta bread. Too fattening. I ordered a Caesar Salad served in a nice size bowl and surprise! Was pretty damn good and tasty. Just the right amount dressing, a bit too many croutons and a generous portion of shaved parmesan. My friend ordered potato skin app which she also liked. The waiter was friendly and accommodating. We didn't realize the Preakness was on tonight and Lo and behold the entire restaurant was screaming and cheering Kentucky Derby winner Justify. I was cheering and lucky my salad didn't go flying. Pretty good sports bar, they do have an ample selection of beer. The menu is sports bar fare: burgers, club sandwiches, soups and salads etc Only issue way over priced: $27 for a cup of soup and a salad , same for my friend who ordered potato skins and a cup of soup. Don't mind spending money if the meal is a meal and not appetizers.

Yelp
the show we went to see was canceled due to COVID We went to Smiths to regroup. The door guard asked for our vaccine cards. Then ripped my device out of my hands with his ungloved fingers and wiped his germs all over my device. I complained and asked for a manager. He told me he was the manager and none of our party would now be allowed in. This man lied about being the manager and didn't follow any COVID guidelines. I watched him touch the e device or paper card of every single person that went in. He never sanitized or washed. This in a neighborhood where shows are going down left right and backward. Bad move guys. Not only will I never go into Smiths again, but I will share that opinion with all my fellow theatre professionals. You should close.

Yelp
#1 Restaurant in NYC for it's price range. "Dare To Compare" #1: I dare you to Compare Smith's to any other restaurant in it's price range in NYC. See if you agree with my title. #2: I dare you to Compare Smith's to any restaurant at 5X the cost in NYC. Yes; really. See if you agree with my title. #3: I dare you to Compare Smith's to any in any other Urban City in the U.S.A. to see if it might just be: "#1 Restaurant in the U.S.A. for it's price range." NOTE: If you must wait to get in; it is well worth the wait. Try to get there early.

Yelp
Not a bad place to stop for a drink, but it is pretty divey and it seems to be more geared towards "regulars" despite it being in a touristy area. Ironically, I had a conversation with the bartender about Yelp'ers after bringing up a funny Yelp review (the worst rum and coke ever) and I hate to be another crazy Yelp'er, but... My drink wasn't that great either (way too much bottled lime juice), and the service was pretty slow. When my bartender disappeared for a while, the other bartender(s) completely ignored me, and also ignored another gentleman who was waiting to place his first drink order. I did appreciate that they put on the game for me when I asked, although I had to remind them that I was watching when another gentleman asked to put his game on instead. I'm sure this is a great spot for locals and regulars, but it wasn't the bar for me. I also don't think I've paid that much for a cocktail in a long time, let alone at an empty dive bar.

Yelp
FRESH corned beef hash! Really good service, reasonable (NYC) prices and just the perfect way to start our day. My wife's inlet ( cheddar and bacon) was a bit greasy but the generous cheese portion was the culprit. Plain or anything bagels-we opted for plain and split huge cream cheese. Coffee never saw the bottom of the mug. Convenient for us and recommended!! $13.95 omelette $12.95 corned beef hash
