Delicious vegan options were wonderful. Service was spectacular and the food arrived quickly. Both the po boy and fillet were absolutely great, the Puerto Rican Sweet Potato Salad blew me away! I was in Lexington for two nights and went here both nights because the food was that good. The added bonus is that they are in the space of West 6th Brewery, so having a great brew with your food is a cinch. I rode my bike there and they had a bike rack plus as a bonus they are immediately next to a bike trail.

Located next to a cool craft brewery in downtown Lexington KY, this restaurant offers great food along with a wide choice of good local beers you can order in house when you dine in. I ordered the fish and chips which is excellent-moist, flaky not dry. The cod was fresh with a deep golden crispy crust cooked using the brewery’s signature west 6th beer batter. The cold slaw was not overly sweet yet crunchy and refreshing. The bite sized hush puppies were crispy and tasty too.

Best oyster PO Boy I've had since 2012 outside of New Orleans. Fun atmosphere and good beer at the West Sixth Brewery that's attached. Good Fish and chips.

Decided to try something new while in Lexington. Had the fish and chips with slaw and hush puppies. Wasn’t a bad meal, fish was a little greasy and hush puppies could use some more flavor. Also had the hot catfish for an appetizer and it was good

Integrated with west sixth brewery. Best seafood in town

Google
It's definitely overhyped. The food was expensive and not great. I do like the order system, you scan the QR code at your table and they bring your order BUT the high tip options are insane alone with the price of the food. Nearly 15$ for 3 tiny shrimp tacos. 1 time visit.

Google
One of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat in Lexington! Smithtown is connected to West Sixth brewing which makes it so convenient to grab a beer and some delicious seafood. Everything I've tried here has been amazing!!

Google
The food is very enjoyable! The shrimp po boy is packed with flavor, and very filling! I also got the super spice fries, which were very nice! The side was an extra cost because the po boy doesn't come with any, but there are definitely other food choices that do. I know their fish and chips are solid, and I hear their cat fish is delicious as well! The establishment is open seating, and there are plaques for you to scan to order your food from. They definitely do their best to get your food out. If you are in a group, the timing can be off, and some people could be done eating before your food comes out. I do think their food is worth the wait (if there is one). There are no refills for drinks, but you can buy bottled/can drinks, and they have a very nice bar with a great selection, as a heads up.

Yelp
This place is such a gem. Best fish n chips I've had in Lexington so far and I am a SUCKER FOR THEIR OYSTERS. SO DANG GOOD! Fresh and raw the workers just know how to shuck'em! Never gritty which you gotta appreciate the consistency. Hear me out, their superfood salad is just so good, pick whatever dressing it doesn't matter. I'm obsessed with their catfish so obviously I have to order 2 and get it blacked AND FRIED. Cooked to perfection btw, every time. Everything here washes down real nice with a brewskey and good vibes. Lexington is lucky to have 2 great establishments connected to each other.

Yelp
It was Good Friday and with none of the Catholic churches serving fish, we came here. Being a Friday evening, it was busy, but not too noisy. We snagged a table next door in West Sixth Brewing where I started on a pint of cider while we waited for our food. We used the QR code on our table to order our food and it was delivered to our table. The taco trio caught my attention and I wanted one of each variety but the fried mushroom was sold out, so I settled for three shrimp tacos. They were delicious so it definitely wasn't a "settle." Hubby chose the Cape Codder sandwich with Weisenberger cheese grits (always a good choice), with a no sugar cherry Ale-8-One. We both "cleaned our plates" as our mothers would have requested! There are other dishes on the menu that I want to try including the blackened catfish and grits, so I see other visits in our future.

Yelp
Love coming to West Sixth and ordering Smithtown to the table! The seared tacos were great. The service is always wonderful!

Yelp
Yummy! Couldn't ask a better Sunday plan than a fish 'n chips platter from Smithtown and a pint from West Sixth. Great menu with a decent selection of vegan options. Service is fast and friendly. Food holds up well for takeout. Eat local!

Yelp
Smithtown seafood was delicious food and a great environment. I really enjoyed being able to grab a beer at the brewery and walk over to get food right after. The food was cheap, came out quick and was nice and hot on arrival. the cod fritters were delicious! I really enjoyed the fish and chips as well, the fries were well salted and crispy. The shrimp Poboy with the remoulade on top was delicious as well! I would say this is my favorite fast casual seafood place in Lexington! We'll plan to come here again!

Yelp
Love love love this place. The space is super fun, the FoodChain partnership makes me so happy, and the possibility of pairing things with beer is so good. There's almost always a delicious special (think apple cake, or maybe even pulled pork), but the menu options are always a hit for me. Black eye and kale salads are such good sides, but the fries are pretty salad. Bonus is that you can scan your QR code on the table to get it delivered to you, which makes it super easy!
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite fish and chips in Lexington - with the best tartar sauce. We always come to West Sixth for a drink and then carry out Smithtown - but you can eat there too! Love the menu and the staff is always helpful.

Yelp
Cute little seafood place sharing space with West 6th Brewery. Table ordering is available through a scanned menu at the tables or you can order to go where the food is prepared. Got 2 oyster po'boys and wasn't that impressed but a lot of shrimp were being ordered. The sandwich isn't well packed and small oysters were used with a lot of breading. They were cooked well but the quality was lacking. The sauce had a touch of curry and for me, got to be overwhelming. The bread wasn't crispy at all, but we did visit on a Monday so possibly fresh bread delivery wasn't available. Next time I'd try 1/2 and 1/2 or all shrimp. The save was the side salads. The curried sweet potato salad, quinoa and sautéed garlic zucchini stole the show and added a star for these.

Yelp
This is the perfect marriage between a good little seafood stand and a brewery! The fish tacos and the shrimp tacos are delicious. The sauces in the tacos aren't overbearing and really let the seafood shine through. Everything tasted fresh and perfect. Being connected to the brewery, it made for a great pairing of beers with our tacos. The vibe is very relaxed and easy; a great spot to unwind and enjoy some good food and beer!

Yelp
Really enjoyed all of the fried deliciousness. They have good house made sauces like the blue cheese dressing and the tarter sauce. The Cape Codder fried fish sandwich is excellent!! I like it on the fresh bread that is standard here and I also like to get it on Rye as well! We were really disappointed because we wanted to try the lump crab dip but they were not serving it today :(. I look forward to coming back.

Yelp
I'd say this was decent for a late night bite. Fun to see the connection with West Sixth brewing. The food was decent. Our party ordered the shrimp po-boy (6 shrimp, lots of bread) with hushpuppies, the fish club with fries, and the catfish with fries and grits. We all agreed it was a good meal. It is a bit across town from where my son lives, so he said he might not make the trip again and eat here unless he was in the area, and then he absolutely would. One thing I didn't like was when we ordered (via your phone), everything was an upcharge. Anything but chips is an uncharge for sides, sauces were an upcharge, etc. A little too much nickel and diming.

Yelp
I'm absolutely obsessed with this place. There's not really much dining space in the actually restaurant, but you can order from West 6 brewery next door and they will deliver it to your table! The fried fish is of course a classic, but my favorite is actually the friend banana peppers. The dipping sauce they come with is amazing. I've also tried the shrimp and grits which were delicious. The staff are always super friendly! Food takes a bit to come out, but time is never wasted when enjoying the ambience of the brewery.

Yelp
We were not familiar with this area, but a google search rated this place so highly that we had to try it. I am a huge fan of Shrimp and Grits, so I got that. It was the best I've ever had. The flavor of each ingredient was fantastic! The sauce, the blackened shrimp, and the grits all on point. One ingredient that made it so good was the sauce had some little bits of fried onions in it. One thing worth mentioning is that the portion size and price were perfect. Reasonable price and the portion filled me, but no need for a doggy bag. We are leaving the Lexington area tomorrow, so I'm going to try to talk my family into returning one last time today. I don't expect any pushback on that idea...!

Yelp
The muscles are not fresh and with stones dirt not removed! yuck yuck yuck I hope I don't get sick!

Yelp
Absolutely the BEST fish I've ever eaten! Portions are huge too!! I'm new to Lexington and got the reviews from here and tried! Perfect!!

Yelp
My wife recently learned that Smithtown has lobster rolls which both of us enjoy, so we checked it out on Saturday. For $24, you get a large sandwich and a side dish. It was plenty of food for a meal. The sandwich is flavorful and the amount of lobster is acceptable (for the price) but there's more filler than I'd prefer... celery and such. The sauce has a hint of spicy heat. Overall, a good lobster roll, but not as good as the place that used to be on Broadway (theirs was pricey, though). I got Puerto Rican Sweet Potato Salad that was delicious. I'm not sure what the spices are but it isn't a hot spice. She got the fries which are always good, but we're service a little cold this time. It doesn't hurt that there's plenty of cold West Sixth Beer nearby!
google avatar

Peirce J.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The fish & chips included an enormous and perfectly cooked piece of cod, solid fries, and I really liked the buffalo catfish. Excellent black eyed peas salad, perfect for summer, and eating next to the 6th Street Brewery taps was the cherry on top.
google avatar

Yelp
We sat inside West 6th and had a drink. Loved the atmosphere. The food was amazing. I really loved the Cod Fritters. The service was good.

Yelp
Okay so here's the thing I recommend this place for gathering to have brewed beer. However, not for meals. The food is very pricey and plates small. The three stars is for it being a good place to gather with friends for beer. I had the Kentucky catfish and hubby ordered shrimp and grits. Now we have had shrimp and grits from numerous restaurants and they have been really good and great portion size. It's not a cheap meal but a good one. Smithtown Seafood shrimps and grits is pricey and is served as a meal. However, when you receive your meal and look at it, it's more of an appetizer! Was very disappointed with the portion size. So it goes without saying when we left hubby went somewhere else to get a meal. I posting a comparison picture of Smithtown seafood shrimps and grits and one of another restaurants in Florida shrimps and grits. Price and quantity definitely do not match. Service was nice, ever friendly.

Yelp
Super casual and west sixth next door dog friendly smithtown will bring you your order after you give it at the counter
google avatar

Yelp
Po boy is a little poor. I'm used to po boys being stuffed with whatever but only six shrimp had left me feeling wanting. However their fish and chips basket was decent portions and delicious. Sorry didn't grab a snap of that. Would return.

Yelp
We visited Smithtown on a Friday night during Lent so you know we were in the mood for some good fish. This place did not disappoint, the food was bomb. We were in a group of 4 so we were able to have a variety. Loved the fried banana peppers and manny's shrimp cocktail as appetizers. The highlights of our dinner were the artichoke sandwich, buffalo catfish, and oyster poboy. Shanghai salad was also very good. The grits as a side were surprisingly good. The food was super fast despite the place being busy. Love their mission, and the person working the register was very nice.
google avatar

Marivic R.

Yelp
We were in the mood for seafood and Smithtown Seafood was a great choice! Always in the lookout for dog friendly restaurants since we have our fur baby with us. Food was great, all fried but not oily! They share the dining area with a brewery, love the shaded patio with huge ceiling fans!
google avatar

Harmonie T.

Yelp
Yum! I wasn't expecting to see a plant-based option when a seafood restaurant popped up in my search results. So I was super excited to see a Vegan Artichoke "Filet of Fish" on the menu. The "fish" is a patty made with artichoke, dill, smoked paprika, and celery. It also came with lettuce, pickles, red onion, and vegan tartar sauce. I ordered the sandwich on rye and it came with a generous serving of fries. This meal was super delicious! https://bit.ly/3C8E0tb Meateater Hubby and his cousin were happy with their orders as well. They had Shrimp & Grits, Smithtown Loaded Fries with beer cheese, and a fish sandwich. Hubby also ordered a stout. Overall, we liked this place! Located at West Sixth Brewing & Taproom, QR codes are available at the dining tables for contactless ordering. Staff brings the food out to you when you indicate your table number. There's also wifi and we saw a few patrons working on computers on the outdoor patio. Seems like a legit spot to hang out. I would totally be a regular if I was a local.

Yelp
I've lived in Lexington for a significant portion of my life but this was a part of town I've never been to. Never had any reason to be in this area, so I had no idea there was a brewery here, where Smithtown is attached. I ordered Smithtown Loaded Fries, the Fish n Chips with slaw, and a special at the time, fried okra. Looking back at my pictures, I recall that I ordered grits as the side item vs fries, but they made a mistake and gave me fries, but then just gave me the grits as well later on. I will say that the loaded fries were oddly the most disappointing item of the meal. It was good but it didn't have any wow factor. I was hoping for way more beer cheese than what I got. The fish itself was great, but the breading was a little too much for me and I ended up taking out some of the breading. However, the fried okra and grits were phenomenal! I've never had fried okra this good ever! Perfect batter and the okra was cooked perfectly. Not overcooked, not undercooked, just perfect. The grits were also delicious. It had the right amount of cheese to make it flavorful but not too much to overpower it. Next time I'm in town, I definitely wouldn't mind giving Smithtown another shot.

Yelp
We were staying at an airbnb down the street, and stopped in for dinner. And a good one it was! I got the "supper salad" which was delicious and filling--I took almost half of it home for lunch the next day. My boyfriend got the fish and chips, a big steaming hunk of cod that was flaky and flavorful. This place is attached to the West 6th St Brewery, a micro-brewery with very good beer. You order your food from Smithtown, get a table in the roomy dining area of the bar, and they bring it to you. Very comfortable dining area, even has an open air section with picnic tables. Great mix of people, young and old, families and couples. I could have come here every night, but we wanted to try more restaurants. This was one of the best. Also, one warm evening they had the roll-up door to the brewery open, and you could watch the assembly line, see the empty cans come down the line and get filled with beer, 12 at a time. Very cool!

Alex S.

Yelp
We went to west sixth for a beer and this was a nice surprise. Our tour guide at a distillery downtown actually recommended it but we didn't know it was in the brewery we went to after that tour. The fish and chips was great. The employees were also super friendly and ordering at the table was convenient and easy.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Loved the fish tacos and the beer cheese fries! We also got the lobster roll and that was good too!!
google avatar

Brett T.

Yelp
One of my Lexington favorites. I love the Oyster Po'Boy. The restaurant is connected to West Sixth Brewery. I would recommend if you like great food and a good atmosphere.
google avatar

Brandon C.

Yelp
Me and my friends all got really sick after eating here. We had the oysters. Which came very late and tasted.... bland but off. Like, did they rinse them off knowing they were bad? I don't know. They gave us an extra oyster and dessert for the super long wait. It's the first time I've ever gotten sick from eating oysters, but also... why did I choose to eat oysters at a bar? Uhg. Never again.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Smithtown this past Friday to get fish during Lent after hearing so many great things about it! It was pretty crowded which was expected, but we couldn't get a table for about 25 minutes. We placed our order at the counter and were given a number for them to bring our food to us. I ordered the fish and chips platter which was $14 for a big piece of battered cod, hush puppies, fries, and cole slaw. My boyfriend got the cod sandwich which was $12 and came with chips. Once we finally could grab a table, our food came after about 40 minutes. I was very hungry at this point but everything was so delicious!!! The fish was so crispy outside and cooked perfectly, the fries were seasoned so well, and the hush puppies were some of the best I've had! Given that we went on a Friday during lent, I'm sure it was one of their busier times. I'd love to come back and try out more of the menu!
google avatar

Patricia J.

Yelp
I think Ouita Michel might be a witch because her food is simply magical. The extremely friendly young lady who took our order said that the buffalo catfish bites were her favorite thing on the menu when we asked what she liked. She also said that a lot of people liked the Singapore shrimp wrap, so we got those two things, upgrading the chips to fries with the wrap, because magical fries are a must, and we got a bowl of clam chowder to round out our two meals. I swear there was just something about every bite that made the stress of the day just melt away. I say that even though I wasn't crazy about the loudish bar ambiance. I'm telling you - magic!
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Overall a solid seafood option, though everything was saltier than we'd like. The fish and chips and hushpuppies were excellent, the shrimp po'boy was solid especially at the offered price point. The chowder and lobster roll were ok, though not our favorites - the chowder had a tangy taste that didn't really jive, and we all prefer more traditional lobster rolls - just mayo or butter on a toasted roll as opposed to the celery and strange sauce. It's nice to have it as an option though. We'll still be back, I'm looking forward to trying the other offerings.

Tori F.

Yelp
Consistently good! The kid burgers are appropriately sized for you d kids. Perfect pairing with West 6th :)

Yelp
This place is awesome!!! The food is so fresh and delicious. You can either order at the little desk or go sit and order online. We chose to order online so you only interact with the person who gives you your food. Contactless and super easy. On the outside it looks super small but its actually really spacious inside and really nice. Also the prices for everything that arent market price are reasonable. So you can eat cheap if needed and still get super good food. I got the lobster roll (which was pretty expensive because its lobster), the spicy fries, and a bean salad. My boyfriend got the cod sandwich, and cod bites. Everything was delicious!!
google avatar

Michaela P.

Yelp
Grabbed some "snacks" while visiting West 6th Brewery next door. Order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. East coast oysters were spot on. The rest of the menu looks great. We'll have to make it a point to visit for a meal.

Fonda P.

Yelp
Large portions of catfish and fries hot made to order. Good beer. Hot food and cold beer.
google avatar

Dominique C.

Yelp
Have you ever tried a dish and the first thing that comes to mind is " these are some quality fresh ingredients " me neither but that's what the food at this place made me feel. The catfish was perfectly cook and the gravy was light but delightfully tasty brought together by some creamy grits. It's one of those dishes you could eat everyday!!!!! I had a shrimp taco as my appetizer and the fresh slaw , perfectly cooked shrimp and other fixing made for a great starter. The hush puppies although also very yummy got a little chewy as they cooled but I tried one blazing hot and boy oh boy - eat them hot! I truly enjoyed my lunch and will definitely be back here. Another YUMMY find!!!! I'm not a drinker per say but they do share a dining area with a brewery so if that's your thing you can get a cold one to enjoy with your meal. I think it's totally family friendly with lots of area between the bar and the restaurant! Great service as well you order and they bring the food to you - just an overall great place!

Yelp
Super mid- everything we had was meh. Not crazy about getting served on small paper dishes.nothing stood out

Yelp
We did a daytrip to Lexington and stopped hear for early dinner on way home. I had shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago and gave been stuck home. Cold Beer and seafood sounded good. Had our heart set on fried oysters from reading the reviews. Unfortunately they were out of oysters...try it next time. What we got was very good but they made mistakes on both our orders. I was supposed to sub clam chowder for fries with shrimp poboy. But they gave fries and soup and charged extra. The chowder was ok not the best. Potatoes in it werent done enough and it tasted like chicken stock base. Not a huge fry lover but these were very good .. similar to pen station. Shrimp were good. Hubby ordered the blackened catfish platter but they brought a catfish sandwich in stead but we were tired and hungry. It wasnt what we ordered but was good. We grabbed the last table at the connected beer place. Beer went well with the food.

Scott P.

Yelp
I had half-dozen oysters on half shell and cod fritters. Food was adequate. Oysters decent but then for $4 each, should have been. Service was absolutely terrible (and I'm not unreasonable when it comes to restaurant service). I was one of only two or three customers yet my fritters took over forty minutes. The server giggled when they finally arrived, said "I guess I forgot to send your order to the kitchen ". Poor.
google avatar

Rhianna S.

Yelp
I love that they're in with a brewery! The food was amazing and atmosphere! GET THE HUSHPUPPIES. The cod taco was very good but the they are small.
google avatar

Brad G.

Yelp
Two stars is all I can give this place. I honestly think that if it wasn't connected to West 6th that it would've closed a long time ago. The two stars are there because of the service. All the employees are nice in this place. To start, I probably shouldn't have ordered a burger at a seafood joint but even my partner didn't care for the fish she ordered. Besides, any place should be able to do a burger (cheap or pricey). My food - Taproom Burger - 1/3 pound patty dressed with lettuce, tomato, red onion, Pops pickles, roasted garlic aioli and Smithtown's banana pepper mustard on a bun. You can add other things like cheese, bacon, an oyster, or an egg for a buck or two more. I expected so much more from a burger called the Taproom Burger. It was featured in its own special box on the menu even! The burger starts at 8.99(it comes with fries). This burger isn't anything special. It's the equivalent of one of those frozen thin patties you would get in school as a teenager. I'd suggest getting it well done. I ordered it medium and after seeing the quality of the burger... this isn't the type of pink you want to eat. The fries were okay but they didn't stand on their own. I needed ketchup for them... I usually don't eat ketchup or any condiment for that matter with my fries. When I'm at West 6th again, if I need something to munch on I'll stick with the apps here. After that burger and the fish, I can't say that I'm confident in the apps being much better but I'll give them a try. In closing, based on my experience I don't understand why this place is sitting at 4 stars. If you're at West 6th and have a buzz going, I think this food will do but I'd plan to eat elsewhere before or after you visit West 6th.

Yelp
We ended up eating here/from here primarily because West Sixth was our second beer stop after a very long hike, and home was still a little more than an hour away...and we needed food. I got the fish and chips and...I was underwhelmed so I will break up our visit in to high points and not high points. High Points: - Convenience. It is attached to West Sixth Brewing. - Friendly staff. - Short wait time between ordering and delivery. - There was a lot of food in my order...I should have gone with the smaller size. - We needed food...we got food. The Not-So-High Points: - The fried fish was SO soggy. The fried breading was just disintegrating and didn't tasted good when it fell off. - With the wet breading just falling off, it was really hard to actually eat the fish. I always think of fish and chips as a finger food meal...this one *required* utensils. - Because the breading was so heavy and thick and soggy....it just didn't taste great. - The fries were good...but fries should never be the highlight of a meal. I was really underwhelmed, especially since they have such a great rating. My meal was just not great and really...wet. Maybe I should have gone with a burger instead...

Yelp
I've tried Smithtown 3 times now and it has always been hit or miss for me. Prior to this visit I had the buffalo catfish sandwich twice. Once it was really good and the other time sort of mushy. This visit was the same hit or miss experience. First the good. The fish and chips were excellent as were the hush puppies. The kale and quinoa salad was above average. For the not so good. The beer cheese is a warm cheese which I wouldn't have ordered if I realized. I just didn't think it was good nor did others with me. The grits were fine but super bland. Really needed some sort of seasoning.
google avatar

Alexander P.

Yelp
Decent fish n chips. Goes good with a flight of beers from the bar. Maybe get two servings.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
I have enjoyed lunch here on several occasions. I am consistently impressed by the flavors in this kitchen. On this occasion I enjoyed the Hush Puppies, Kale Quinoa Salad, and a Fish taco. The kale salad has a very punchy flavor and the banana pepper mustard with the hush puppies was stellar. I'm glad I asked for extra! This place rules.
google avatar

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Good food - I've been 3 times now. Food is cooked fresh so there's a little if a wait, but prefer that over precooked. Nice lunch vibe, need to go back around happy hour / cool brewery attached.
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
First visit on a Saturday food was excellent, fish and chips and catfish. Second visit on a Tuesday night, both fish and fries were soggy, and cooking oil left a bad taste should have been changed. Staff friendly, wait time was relatively short.
